The Thia Style Cold Brew is absolutely amazing. I loved it, it was full of flavor and so smooth!

I got a vanilla matcha latte, but unfortunately you don't taste any vanilla at all. So I didn't really like how my drink came out, especially since it's supposed to be a vanilla matcha. The guy cashier was very friendly and nice but the girl making my drink wasn't as friendly, i asked a question and she gave me a dirty look. Maybe she was having a bad day, Im not really sure, but didn't feel welcoming. Their matcha is already premade just letting you know. Matcha was good but not sweet. So if you like strong matcha this might be for you. The cafe was cute and clean as well!

Kind staff and nice place to get a croissant and coffee. They had a variety of coffee beans from various regions as well!

Latte Latte Latte Campesino? I don't actually recall the name.

Small, local coffee shop with good quality coffee, and friendly staff. Calm and slightly upbeat vibe. Nice place to relax, read, work. I don't remember the name of my latte but it has star anise and orange peel. I opted for oat milk. They have almond milk too. It was delicious! The atmosphere is fine, just a bit crowded and messy towards the back with coffee beans and an actual in-house roaster. So, while a bit messy, it's also unique and cool too. Not a 5 bc it's on the small side and bc it feels crowded in the back. If it were more open I think I'd give it 5.

    Fun artwork.

Café de Leche has been a staple in Highland Park since 2008. The name was inspired by Anya's mother (Mama Rosa), and the story behind it is very cute. Their coffee is sourced from partner farms in Nicaragua, Ethiopia, & El Salvador and is roasted on site. HLP is the original location. There are others in Hollywood & Pasadena. This charming café sits on a corner in a historic brick building. Inside you'll find festive artwork on the wall, bench seating, a comfy couch, and a huge roaster in the back. They also sell their signature blends for you to enjoy at home. Fresh pastries are available for you to enjoy, and outdoor seating so you can relax with your pup. A delightful smell of spices permeated the air when I walked in. I asked the nice man behind the counter what smelled so good. He told me the barista was preparing a Latte Campesino, which consisted of orange, spices, and brown sugar. I was sold. I asked for a small ($5.50) with almond milk (.75) and browsed while I waited. I took a sip and was pleased that the latte tasted as good as it smelled. The beans were expertly roasted. It was a light roast without any bitterness. The foam was creamy, and the brown sugar added a touch of sweetness. It was perfect the perfect way to start my day. *Metered street parking & residential.

Parked next to this cafe this morning with plans to check out Kumquat but noticed this cafe was open already with no wait. Glad we tried it - we got the Thai coffee (cold brew with coconut condensed milk) and the horchata latte. Both drinks were not overly sweet and pretty strong. The horchata latte could've used a bit more ice but otherwise would definitely come back again. Decent sizes for great prices - hard to find in LA these days!

Such a cute place with lots of seating!! The baristas are sweet and the coffees are made super quick. Wasn't a huge fan of the matcha but the vanilla latte was good.

Such a great find on a hot Cali day! I was craving a good matcha latte and we all know how tricky that can be ... came across this beautiful local shop, great music, great vibes , and super friendly service . Our drinks were wonderful I got an alt milk matcha, a classic matcha and a hibiscus lemonade 10/10 Plenty of seating , not sure about parking as we parked on the street.

Chill vibes, Latinx-inspired drinks, and some of the friendliest baristas around. I stopped by on a quiet Friday morning and lucked out with the cozy couch (there's only one!). The atmosphere was calm, the music good, and the service fast and welcoming. Tried the oat milk latte -- not quite my fave (a little thin and slightly burnt), but I'm picky. The whole milk cappuccino, on the other hand, was smooth and balanced. The menu is simple but highlights community with specials like the Horchata con Espresso and Mexican Mocha. Bonus: They roast their own beans, sell them in-store, and have cute merch. Overall: not my best latte, but I'd come back for the cappuccino, the vibe, and a second shot at their signature drinks.

Very solid coffee shop! My girlfriend and I both ordered a latte with extra shots and substituted for oat milk. Our drinks were delicious but what made it better was the atmosphere. It feels so cozy and inviting inside. Love the location and how close it is to restaurants if you happen to be hungry during your coffee run!

So many people define themselves as experts. Sadly, many of those same people will walk in and say things like, "Gosh, I'm tired, could you make me a double espresso?", clearly assuming that stronger taste automatically means more caffeine. My wife and I simply like a good coffee in the morning. Which leads to the obvious question: what do we define as "good coffee"? For us, it helps us get into the day, tastes pleasant, and does not leave a bitter note. We are absolutely not coffee experts and can discuss coffee, at best, at what we Germans would call "Thekenniveau" -- bar-counter level. I do understand, however, that it may make a difference whether beans were roasted weeks or even months ago somewhere remote, then shipped and stored, or whether they were roasted locally and recently. So we asked ChatGPT, and one of the recommendations was REGENT Coffee in our neighborhood. We went. Our directive was very clear: we explained that we knew little to nothing about coffee, which was precisely why we had come in and were looking for advice. The lady helping us started with: "Well, it all comes down to the settings of your coffee machine when you pour your espresso." I responded that we are not really espresso drinkers -- we drink Americano. She gave us "the look" and explained that an Americano is espresso with more water. The information: fair enough. The way it was communicated: not ideal if your goal is to win me as a customer. From there, the conversation did not really lead anywhere. We were asked questions such as whether we preferred nutty or fruity coffee. That may be a perfectly reasonable question for someone who already knows what those terms mean in practical taste terms. But we had just told her that we did not. That was the entire reason we were there. We were not looking to prove our coffee knowledge. We were looking for someone who had the expertise to guide us. In the end, we bought an Americano. It was served so hot that my wife burned her mouth in the car, and it took almost the entire 45-minute drive to Santa Monica before it had reached what we considered a comfortable drinking temperature. It cost $5. And we did not even particularly like it. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend REGENT based on this experience? No. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was a tremendous lost opportunity to turn us into long-term customers. We like expert advice. We drive to Farmers Markets to buy fresh produce knowing full well that we may pay 200% more for something that is perhaps only 15% better. But we can taste the difference, and that makes it worthwhile to us. Coffee could have been exactly the same. If I specialized in coffee, I would make it incredibly easy for people like us to enter that world. I would offer tastings. I would explain, in simple language, what "nutty", "fruity", "chocolatey", "bright", "smooth" or "low acidity" actually mean in the cup. I might offer a short class on how to set up a home coffee machine properly. Maybe even machine-specific sessions. Maybe in the shop. Maybe at the customer's home. Because there are customers walking through the door saying, quite literally: "We know very little. We want advice. We are willing to spend money." And even better from a business perspective: Not just money once. Continuous money. Imagine if the conversation had instead started with: "I totally understand where you are coming from. Coffee can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly. Since you mostly drink Americano and want something smooth rather than bitter, let me give you two small tastes so you can understand the difference. Then I'll recommend one bean to start with." We would almost certainly have bought a bag. Possibly two. And if we had liked them, we might have bought beans there for years. Instead, they sold us one tiny cup for $5 over the counter, while the payment screen suggested an 18-25% tip. And two potentially very loyal customers walked out frustrated. That, to me, is the real business lesson here. It is not about whether REGENT makes good or bad coffee. Taste is subjective. It is about recognizing the customer who is standing right in front of you. Especially when that customer is effectively saying: "Please teach me how to spend more money with you." And then making sure you do not send them home without doing exactly that. Small caffeine footnote: espresso is more concentrated in caffeine per ounce, but a normal serving of drip coffee usually contains more total caffeine than a single espresso because the serving is much larger. Stronger taste does not automatically mean more caffeine.

We parked on the streets a few blocks away and walked towards this cafe. The exterior was green with a very nice sign. When walking inside, you'll notice all the patrons working on the computers or hanging out with a friend. Towards the left side, you'll see the merchandise and the register where you'll order your coffee and food. The coffee bar was alongside the left side of the perimeter. I can't describe it enough - very studio Ghibli, speakeasy, jazzy, and coffee enthusiast themed. The barista greeted us with a smile and was gentle about it. We ordered their black sesame cortado and their signature cortado. We also ordered their breakfast sandwich with sausage. Their cortado was very strong, but had a great sweetness to it. Very little coffee shops sell them, so when I saw it on an online menu, I knew I had to visit. Coffee was fruity, sour, slightly smoky, lingering astringency and bitterness. The cream on top was light in sweetness. Overall it was okay, but still disappointing. It wasn't a smooth espresso, flavor was all over the place. Wish there was more contrasting temperatures of the hot espresso and cold cream on top too. Coffee beans were Brazilian, Guatemalan, Sumatra, Medium-Dark Roast Coffee. The coffee beans were lightly roasted. ICED MATCHA LATTE WITH MATCHA CREAM TOP Wanted to try their matcha as they really advertised Nami Matcha on their menu. First time trying Nami. Super light on the sweetness overall, hardly any honey or agave in their matcha drink. Matcha was grassy, a bit floral, a bit of sweetness in the matcha, a bit of astringency and bitterness at the end that lingers in your mouth. A lot of things going on, yet there was more of an aftertaste of astringency with bitterness at the end that wasn't pleasant. So strange that the matcha flavor was more on the lighter side, since I did add matcha cream top as well. However, I liked this drink more than the espresso con panna. But I would not reorder both drinks. AMBIANCE + SEATS A bit dark and moody place with dark ceilings, wooden chairs and tables. There were a lot of tables and it was packed today! The only available seats were the benches on the side. There were small tables, so I was able to place my drinks there. It is a nice place to hang out. Lots of points for the ambiance. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good, staff was nice. It was packed and busy, yet they were nice about answering questions and making sure that everyone got good service. PARKING There is street parking, but even when I went on a weekday, it was difficult to find parking. There were neighborhood parking too, but it was far easier to park closer to the streets than in neighborhood street parking due to many tow away signs and private parking signs. I am open to revisiting although the drinks I ordered were not home runs. I felt there were more coffee or matcha drinks to try and their menu intrigued me.
