I love this place...when we get a karaoke room. This 4 star rating is when we get a room; a 3 star rating would be appropriate when there isn't a room. Reason? not enough room outside of the private areas. The food here is pretty good, especially during happy hour. The kimchee pancake and the seafood pancake are both AWESOME. The ddeokbokki is pretty good...and REALLY spicy. My advice to those who do not appreciate the spicy? Don't get the ddoekbokki. It's amazing for me, someone who loves hot, but I don't think those who like it mild will appreciate the burn so much. My boyfriend said the mochiko chicken tasted odd, like the meat was ground? I'm not sure if that's true since I didn't taste it, but he said he probably wouldn't have gotten it again. The drinks are amazing. Soju? ummm yes please! And when it was served in the watermelon (watermelon soju, obviously), it just made the party more entertaining. The vibe is appropriate for a party, and the place certainly keeps the good times rolling. If you are a fan of k-pop and dance music, this is the place for you. If not, I suggest you close your ears because it is on alllll night. Or... YOU CAN GET A KARAOKE ROOM! These rooms are awesome. Private and karaoke are so my thing. There's finally enough space for just your party, and you don't feel cramped. If you don't get a room, just be ready for a somewhat crowded experience. Not "club" crowded but loud and not too comfy. Especially for a larger party. I'm sure 2-4 people would be fine, if you find a table to sit at. All in all, I suggest going and booking a room. If not, I think the food is pretty good but go during happy hour to secure a seat! Not my cup of tea when it's served with public karaoke crooners and watered down soju drinks. We didn't try the food so I can't comment on that but I thought it was expensive and the drinks were not strong. We got a room and sang and had a great time. $1/song which comes with cheesy mismatched Korean actors/ actresses doing random things like riding horses in the music videos. Selection of English songs was limited and the machine to choose songs is in Korean. We chose the wrong song and cancelled it and the guy was like, "too bad, no refunds". Service was ok. They came to the room to check on us a few times. There's only 1 stall for the women's bathroom so if it's busy you could have a long wait. Parking is terrible. 1 tiny lot and sketchy street parking. Came here on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 to celebrate my birthday with my girl friends and it was a very sad experience. We definitely made the best of it but the only real good thing was the food. I was so excited to go here, my friend reserved us a room (a week in advance). When we got there, the girl had us wait outside so she could get a room ready for the 4 of us which we of course did not mind but when we went into the room, there was trash under the table and up top behind the couches. We only had one fully charged microphone while the other one was dead, for the karaoke machine. The waitress just dropped us in the room and left, didn't bother to explain how their karaoke machines worked (there's an input to the english and korean version and only the korean version has a physical book of songs, the english version needs an app downloaded). So when we had asked the girl how to operate things, she served major attitude. In the ENTIRE 3 hours of our room reservation, we were serviced/checked on in the beginning and within the last hour of the reservation. My friends had to leave the room to the bar to physically get us soju bottles. It was not a busy night either in the outside area so we were very confused why we weren't being checked in on throughout the night, the girls were either dancing and talking or on their phones and I never fault anyone for making a slow time more enjoyable but please pay attention to the patrons that are present at your establishment. This hole-in-the-wall establishment has been around for a while, and when Duck Butt comes up in conversations it's usually associated with soju drinks and cheap karaoke. I've been here a few times. The inside is rather small with several booths arranged in the middle, 3 karaoke rooms on the side, and bar seating​ as well. I wasn't a fan of the food (there are other Korean spots that have better IMO). Their soju cocktail selections are probably the highlight on the menu for me. I really liked their creamy melona and lava flow flavors the best. You can't beat the $1/song karaoke here, but you need to reserve a room with them ahead of time. The song selections are good, but the sound quality can be improved. I came here with a group of 12 people and we all just barely fit into one room. Service here is just alright, but nothing to rave about. There were moments were my group and I waited a little longer than usual for our drinks (maybe our server forgot about us?) since we were in one of the private rooms and we had to request service a few times because none of the wait staff came by to check on us. With other Korean​ karaoke bars now open around town, Duck Butt really needs to revamp their interior and expand their space. Their parking situation can also be an issue because they are situated on a side street near Kawaiahao. I recommend parking along the nearby streets or carpooling/ubering with friends. If you're looking for a spot to chill for a while and maybe sing a few songs to pass the time consider coming to Duck Butt. But if you plan on having a gathering with 12+ people and want to enjoy yourselves​ in a pleasant atmosphere with better food, maybe consider another place around town. read more

This place is a-ok as a previous reviewer wrote. I'm surprised I hadn't written a review for this place since I've come several times over the years. If I had written this review when I came here more frequently about 6 years ago then it might've been a 4. But age has caught up with me and seemingly I can't handle the young people scene - crowds, parking, service, etc. also not a place where you want to be sober. They have a daily happy hour from 5-8 where food and drink is discounted. The food is pretty good - their green onion pancake was super crunchy and the chicken really crisp and juicy and the poke very fresh and steak well seasoned and med rare. The serving plates are very small styrofoam ones so that makes it challenging to eat. Lotsa water refills of the usual korean pitchers. Service pretty attentive and friendly until it got busy and crowded. Understandable. The prices were actually very reasonable. 180$ including food, two sojus, three large bottles of hite beer (1 quart bottles) and tip! Reservations not accepted after 7pm is what I was told on the phone. No problem for us older folks who want to be done by 8pm. I can see why bc it suddenly got packed at 8. We used to drink here often for happy hour on the weekdays. They used to allow karaoke in the main room but not sure if they do anymore. They have private rooms also. The bathroom is fairly big and clean. Also have come here as a second stop late into the night which is great for a post drinking good food fill up while the drunker ppl sing disorganized karaoke. Parking is challenging. If you come early there's prolly plenty of spots on the street. Maybe park across the street on ward by the shops. It's hit or miss. read more

Okay I know this is a bar but it would be nice if there was a sign or something that mentioned that once happy hour is over (5-8 PM), no minors are allowed in -____- My friends and I had a reservation at 7PM and it kinda freaked us out a bit how we only had an hour to eat but good thing we were hungry because we finished within half an hour LOL that was a major downside to coming here and also the small seating area xP there was 9 of us and we were all squished in a booth seat. We were literally touching elbows lol Besides those two issues, the food was actually pretty good. I think we ordered: - Kimchi fried rice - fried chicken - mandoo - french fries (yum) - seafood pancake (yum) All from the happy hour menu so it was an okay portion and decent prices :o especially since there was 9 of us xD the kimchi fried rice and mandoo were good but it's nothing special. I wouldn't get the fried chicken again :( it was actually kinda complicated to eat LOL not like KFC or anything like that, you really had to pull it apart. The french fries and seafood pancake were the highlights of my dinner LOL They were perfectly crisped and delicious ^___^ especially the seafood pancake! I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile so when so when a friend I haven't seen in forever came back in town, her bffs from her high school days got a private karaoke rm. Took me awhile to find the place because it's camouflaged in a old warehouse building next to industrial/auto businesses. (It's Pow Wow week so some graffiti artist we're painting the front and side of the restaurant) When I got there the food was already out and what a spread! Korean food is already one of my most favorite food in all the world and Cafe Duck Butt did not disappoint! Everything is served PuPu style and we are all ol friends so it was a feeding frenzy (these are all girls now)! We were literally at each other's chopsticks grabbing food over each other! Ha! One of my favorite dishes was the huge platter of Ramen noodles soaked in Kim Chee sauce with sweet Mochi, veg and and an Egg on it! I'm not much of a spicy eater but that dish was winners! We washed it all down with this delicious Watermelon concoction that was served in an actual hollowed out Watermelon that was super delicious! For dessert we ended the night sappy sweet 90's karaoke singing! Overall I had a heaps of delicious food and had a blast with my life time friends! Cafe Duck Butt...the name alone should tell you what kind of place it is. Or what kind of place it isn't. It is NOT your neighborhood cafe! NOT your family friendly cafe! And definitely NOT your first date coffee cafe! This is your hole in the wall, dive bar that you go to with friends for drinks and grindz and maybe karaoke. Thankfully the karaoke is limited to rooms with doors so nobody can hear you and you can't hear anybody else! It was 10pm on a Saturday night and we've already had a few drinks so Cafe Duck Butt looked fun and welcoming. Even the guy throwing up in the corner 10feet behind us didn't phase us much. I'm sure sober during the day, the cafe and the puking may paint a different picture. Lol We ordered their infamous watermelon soju and Hite along with 2 orders of tacos and kimchi pancakes. We came here on a Thursday evening and it was pretty crowded. They offer free valet parking, just pull up in front and they'll park your car. The likikoi soju was amaaaaaaazing; I really want to go back and try all the other flavors! The kimchee fries were pretty much the most amazing fries I've ever had. The mochiko chicken was so-so. Ordered my tteoboki @ 11:50.. delivered @ 12:23. Exceptional service beginning to end. Made a quick call to the restaurant to make sure they received my note about the spice level because every other Korean restaurant serves it spicy. Which I have no problem with because that's how it's suppose to be. But the host was very nice about it. I am currently eating my fish cake and slurping my rice cake away! Pretty much a good place to hang out, kick back some soju, and have tasty korean eats. I admit its been awhile since we came to this place, but the food and drink is consistent. Last night we tried the matcha soju, it was yummers like kicking back some green tea ice cream. The oden nice hot and spicy. Kimchee pancake is tasty and crispy. The Tteokbokki or dukbokki spicy and chewy. Fridays and Saturdays are always busy so either go early or make reservations. They have valet parking which beats trying to look for street parking on a Friday or Saturday. Service can be meh but most of the time they're on it. Went to Cafe Duck Butt for Pau hana with coworkers...we were able to reserve a room from 5pm to 8pm. The room is free but you have to pay $1 a song. As well as pay for your own drinks and food. They have two private rooms one that can accommodate up to 15 people and is located near the bathroom and the other which can accommodate up to 10 people and is located near the entrance. The establishment has several booths and chairs at the bar if you prefer to just mingle with everyone. They have free valet parking which comes in handy as their location is in a weird area and can be challenging to find a good stall. Don't forget to tip the valet guys as they are super friendly and helpful. Although inside the entire establishment is a little run down it does have some charm. The only downside is that they only have one toilet for both genders so be prepared to stand in line. The staff is very friendly and efficient. They were quick to take our orders and the turn around time was good. The food is awesome we ordered so much different things and not one of the dishes were disappointing. Although the prices are reasonable because everything is tasting so good you might over spend. I know I did lol but it was so worth it. We really enjoyed having the private room and the best part was since no one booked the room after us they allowed us to stay in the room for another hour. Drinks: Came here with a group of 10 on a Saturday night to grab some drinks and it was very packed. Highly recommend the melon soju! literally melona in liquid form. We also tried the strawberry and lychee soju. Both were good. I want to come back and try the yogurt and taro flavors! Also need to come back for karaoke! Patrons were also nice and there was a chill vibe. Service/Ambiance/Price Service was mediocre, nothing great. We were unable to find a seat so we all just stood, but we were happy because we had soju so it didn't really bother us. The owner said we would be seated when the next table opened. However, the next table didn't open for like an hour. Ambiance is a little divey. Nothing nice or fancy. If I could give a negative 10 that's what would happen... from the other day to today was a 360 and I will NEVER return!!! Or recommend ANY body or any ANY one of color or any one isn't of Chinese decent to come into this establishment. The doorman was VERY disrespectful and not welcoming at all. And for that to be the first and last person that you see coming and leaving he definitely left an imperson. And if that's the imperson you want to leave don't worry about the military coming here. This place is so much fun when you're with fun people and are wasted. My friend made reservations for 11 people and we got the tiny private karaoke room. We all didn't even fit on the couch and had to bring in 2 extra chairs which crowded the room even more. We didn't order too much food but what we did order was all very delicious. We ordered more alcohol than food and it was quite expensive. The watermelon soju was so good but it wasn't strong enough. The yogurt soju tasted water down. This karaoke bar is very small with very very limited parking around. For the size of the establishment it does get very very busy and packed. If you'd like to book a private room you must have at least 8 people. The service can get a little slow because they are so busy and they don't have the employees to accommodate the amount of people that are coming in. The instructions are also a little confusing if you've never been to a karaoke place before. Also. Paying a dollar every time I want to sing a song when I'm already paying for a private room seems a little much we had a good time and the soju watermelon was awesome but there was definitely too much ice that watered down the alcohol. read more

We had a larger group with multiple people wanting to pay. To make things easier we kept it on one and I gave the server my card. She came back and told me my card declined 3 times. Very odd as I had more than enough money. So my bf handed her his card and I immediately checked my bank account. It had charged $201.47 so I informed my server and she told me I was wrong as if I didn't have the charge pulled up on my account. She then said oh our system rebooted while I was charging but we don't have your tab paid. They then couldn't provide any receipt or statement that my account was not charged. They finally printed me an itemized receipt of what we were charged which all of a sudden was a different amount including a 20 % gratuity. Which is generous given their sub par service. Especially when most establishments only charge a 18% gratuity for larger parties. They said the charge wouldn't go through but of course it did today and I'm back on the mainland. The staff are really nice and cool but when it comes to drinks that's not on the menu, be ready to pay for $8 to $10 per drink because I was told by a waitress that it was gonna be $4 per drink but when I got my bill it was $8 per drink. First off, they have happy hour from 5-8 on the weekdays. Half off everything! DEAL! Next, their soju is delicious. I've had all of them, maybe like three times each, at least. The yogurt is the best, then the melona, then the peach, and then strawberry. Those are my picks. Oh, and their new yuzu flavor is pretty interesting too, though it's not on the menu yet. You must try the house special fried chicken! I love it! It's like a hen that's been seasoned, fried, and then quartered by a butcher's knife, served with daikon and a salt/pepper combo. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Because the cover of this book is U-G-L-Y! Cafe Duck Butt is tucked away in a hard to find spot just off of Ward. If you find it and actually go inside you will be pleasantly surprised. This joint is actually a legit Korean bar (and not dakine they rub your leg but they do provide great service)! I found that each time I visit the young staff at Duck Butt are very attentive and friendly. Oh and they actually also are easy on the eye- super cute girls and boys! Duck Butt serves good Korean grub and drinks- I tried spicy chicken wings, korean pancake, squid stuff however, main reason I come here is the flavored shoju! Holy mother of shoju!! I love this stuff! They have coffee melona, yogurt, strawberry, you name it they probably have it! I reserved the karaoke room twice for parties and each time it was a blast. Good food, good drinks and good service! Love the lighting and the set up of the rooms. The cost to reserve the room you ask? Zero dollars!! Yep, you just feed the machine your money and chose your songs. The karaoke songs are up to date and the korean videos on in the background are hilarious (and they get funnier the drunker you get). Maybe Duck Butt sets people up for low expectations first of all, because of it's name, and secondly, because of it's sketchy exterior. If I hadn't read reviews about how great this place was before I went, I would have seriously been thinking twice about my choice in friends and what poor taste they have! LOL! But alas, my friends have AWESOME taste after all, and know good food because good food is what Duck Butt delivers! I'm not "bar" type person, but the group of ladies that I get together with once every couple months chose Duck Butt as our night out destination. We had a private room in the back that "cozily" sat 12 of us and we had such a blast! When you have good company, good conversation, good drinks and good food, I don't care where we are, it's always a good time. We pretty much ordered everything off of the happy hour menu and a few things off the regular menu, but the stands out for me that night were: Mandoo - best mandoo I've ever had! I swear there's a secret ingredient in there. The wrappers were the best I've ever had and it was fried to perfection (I don't like it when mandoo is chewy) Fried Chicken - OMG, this fried chicken comes piping hot to your table and you can feel the steam coming from it. Again, crispy perfection and juicy meat! Loved the daikon cubes that came with it too, Comes with salt and pepper, but I felt that it didn't need it at all. "Nacho" fries - not sure if this was on the happy hour menu, but I basically showed a picture of it (from yelp-thanks to whoever posted it) to our server and said, can we have one of these? If you like the tater tot nachos at Home Bar, you will like these! I liked it even better than Home Bar. Fried tofu -not sure if this was from the happy hour menu or regular menu, but this was surprisingly good as well. Of course, all of the "pancakes" were good as well. I love the sauce that they serve with all the fried goodness - maybe that's the secret that makes all their food good. Can't say much about the alcohol, as I don't really know my alcohol, and when I do drink, I like my stuff sweet (yes, I like my fru fru drinks). Between the watermelon, yogut and strawberry shochu, there was non that I really loved, but that's just me. If you only like sweet stuff like me, skip the shochu - I know, blasphemy when reviewing a bar, but I know that there HAS to be others out there who go to bars for food instead of alcohol ;) Anyway, Duck Butt is a fail when it comes to name and exterior appearances, but who cares when they are a WIN at food!!!!
