Perfect for a family or solo outing, date day/night, or any occasion really. Such a nice way to unwind and grab a bite to eat after art gazing and the layout and decor of the cafe is so nice, you'll forget you're at the museum! Sat at the bar and was served by Humberto. He was kind, attentive and efficient. While preparing my glass of wine, another patron began to cough near the direction of my glass. Humberto quietly changed out my glass before pouring my wine; something that may seem small but truly meant a lot to me. He also made a fantastic espresso martini (sub tequila for vodka). I had a truly delightful time. My server, Miss Jeanette, was incredibly funny and easily sold me on the lobster night specials. I had a nice red to settle in after a long week, an incredible Cobb salad, and a smooth cognac while I watched the rain disturbing the usual tremors of the reflection pond that encapsulated the entire cafe. The food was incredible and was almost more than I could manage to eat. It was just the most amazing view with the backdrop of friendly chatter all around, full of natural light. I got away for about $65 including tip for the two drinks and massive salad. I dined solo but this is the perfect spot to meet up with an old friend or coworker before roaming the gallery to set a fulfilled weekend tone. read more

Made reservations for first Friday dinner at Cafe Modern. They offer free admission to the museum every Friday with happy hour and music (music only on the 1st Friday) as you enter then walk around to the cafe for dinner. We shared an appetizer of the sweet potatoes with hot honey and blue cheese dip. Not much flavor on the hot honey but was excellent. Then we shared 1/2 beet salad and 1/2 chinois chicken salad--both great! 3rd course was a special of mushroom Bolognese pasta. Many portions are large but this was smaller-- which worked out fine so we could have dessert. Dessert was a snickerdoodle cookie with cinnamon, ice cream, and salted caramel sauce---again excellent. They have a full service bar in the cafe with first come first serve seating. Seating by the windows (recommended) is for reserve seating. The other part of the restaurant is open for walk-in seating. To my knowledge, they offer Friday dinner & weekend lunch and brunch. Prices are moderate but the happy helps off-set if you partake. I came here with my companions before the America 250 matinee performance, and even though it was a cloudy, yucky day, the atmosphere was still nice with the glorious view of the pond outside, where we enjoyed watching a family of ducks swimming to and fro. The Cafe was very busy, but there were plenty of servers to attend to everyone. We had made a reservation online and were seated right on time. The brunch menu wasn't huge, but the selection had something for everyone, no matter what their dietary needs. For appetizers, we got a plate of Cornbread and the roasted Brussels sprouts and both were wonderful! For my entree, I ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which was accompanied by some yummy roasted potatoes, was tasty and delicious. The one thing I failed to do - and it's my fault - was telling the server that we had tickets for the 2pm performance. As a result was that we were scrambling to get the check at 2:00 and were almost late for the performance. Thankfully, the doors were still open next door when we hustled out after paying the check. It's first Friday at the museum and the museum had free admission, light bites, music, and a cash bar. Hubby and I haven't gone out in quite a while so we went to check it out and decided to also have dinner at Cafe Modern because the chef is Filipino and we wanted to support other Filipinos. I made reservations for 7:45pm, thinking it'll give us time to walk around, look at art and listen to music, and take in the beautiful scenery, but we were done with all of that by 6:30pm. Hubby hadn't eaten all day so we checked in early to the reservation to see if they could seat us earlier. We were hanging out by the bar to wait, but we didn't have to wait for very long. They were able to seat us at around 6:50 (I remember because that's when I got a text saying a table was ready). Ambiance - gorgeous. This is the first time here and we've passed this place so often, not knowing it was there. The beautifully lit trees reflected in the water made the experience so romantic. Food - stellar. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we started off with Brussels sprouts and the truffle chicken pot pie. We had to get it because of the yuzu in the Brussels sprouts and the truffle in the pot pie. Both of these dishes were so full of flavor. For our main course, I had the osso bucco and husband had the steak frites. I loved my osso bucco, but I could only eat half of it because we completely devoured the Brussels sprouts and pot pie. The steak frites was very good as well, but the osso bucco was the winner for me. Finally for dessert, we had the apple jack pie a la mode. It was a wonderful way to cap off a hearty dinner. The apple was perfectly tart and sweet and the cinnamon ice cream was the perfect accompaniment. Service - excellent. Our server was personable and so nice. When I ordered for me and my husband because my husband said he couldn't pronounce "steak frites", our waiter assured him that he also couldn't pronounce "steak frites". He was just very humorous, self-deprecating, and humble. Definitely would come back to try other things. We came here on ST Patrick's Day, not planned we were just looking for somewhere that served brunch that wouldn't be slammed with people partying. I had it saved for a while and wanted to try and I'm glad we did. It was actually so quiet we thought it may have been closed but a few other couple showed up, our server was really nice and funny, an older lady and she recommended her favourite dishes which were great. I had the Korean style fried chicken great Asian flavours and came with a nice fluffy waffle and a spicy yet sweet syrup. My husband got the eggs Benedict he loved he's too. Glassy water reflects the modern architecture and blue Texas sky with a shimmery warmth. I ordered the Soft Scramble Omelet, a keto friendly dish with the trylu softest omelet I've ever had, garnished with some lightly oiled greens dusted with sea salt. The simple contrast was elegant and tasty. At our table we also had the Chinois Chicken Salad, Cucumber Sandwich, Summer Rolls, and Tomato Peach Panzanella Salad. Everyone loved their food. One in our band also had a spice Bloody Mary, which was spectacular. Prices were a little high for some items I thought. But quality was also high. I made a reservation for 2 in advance, and got there a bit early to check out the exhibits in the museum before eating at the restaurant. The views were really special, and perfect since I wanted a holiday-related outing My partner and I ordered the Mezze Platter, Black and White Bucatini, Dan Dan Noodles, and the waitress recommended the Peaches and Cream dessert. All of it was delicious and flavorful. The Bucatini was a bit salty, so watch out for that if that's not your preference. I had the Noodles, which were just the right amount of spice. The Peaches and Cream Dessert was possibly the most yummy thing I've ever had (I literally said that when I bit into it), so thank you to our waitress for recommending that! The waiting time was a bit long between each dish, but the view and the food made it worth it. This was our first time at Cafe Modern after the First Friday event. The First Friday event was a lot of fun - if you can find a table. Get there early as there are no reservations for tables in the atrium area. They have a small bite buffet type offering and beverages. The lines were long in this area, so we went into the Cafe Modern and purchased a bottle of wine for our table to enjoy while listening to the music. We had made dinner reservations at Cafe Modern, and moved our party into the dining room, and the setting is spectacular. The view out over the water is stunning. Highly recommend reservations as the dining room isn't large but doesn't feel crowed. They also have a small bar where you can sit and enjoy a tasty beverage. Our table started with Sticky Ribs, Melon and Prosciutto and the Duck Fat Tater Tots. The Melon and Prosciutto while the presentation was lovely nothing over the top. The Sticky Ribs were tasty but the hit of the starters was definitely the Duck Fat Tater Tots. The Tater Tots are served with a Garlic Aioli which truly takes them over the top. For entrees we selected the Gemelli Mushroom Ragu, Miso Corn Tortelloni and Grilled Tri Trip. The winner of this round was the Gemelli Mushroom Rage - flavorful and filling. The Miso Corn Tortelloni was tasty but only four tortelloni, so if your appetite is big, select something else on the menu. The Grilled Tri Tip was a swing and a miss! The Tri Tip was as tough as a boot! I understand this is a tough cut of meat to cook but the server assured us it was marinated and slow cooked to perfection. Yes we shared the meat was tough. We ordered three desserts to share and the server comped one due to the entree issue. All of the desserts were tasty. Despite the disappointing Tri Tip the evening was fun for our group. Such a hidden gem right in the heart of downtown Fort Worth! I wouldn't have known about this place if it wasn't for Kendall's Instagram post. With the beautiful water as a view, and perfect rating from both Fort Worth and Dallas CM, I knew I'd have to check this place out, even tho I'm not a fan of brunch. The cafe was easy to find, especially with the help from one of the museum staff. It's located inside of the Modern Art Museum, to the right, and conveniently not a part of the museum where you need admission ticket to enter. Perfect to come here just for lunch/brunch or their weekly dinner on Friday. We made reservation just in case, but showing up at 2pm on Saturday and only 3-4 tables were occupied. A table by the window is a must, so you can get the full view of the water without any obstructions. For starter, a complimentary basket with several different types of bread was brought to our table. My favorite gotta be the cranberry bread, has a nice hint of sweetness. For entree, I opted for the Pan Asian Reuben. Good flavor and texture. I would order it again but without the butter on toasted bread. It was way too much and started dripping, making it a bit messy. My other half got quiche that comes with a good amount of salad. The dressing on the salad was delicious, just the right amount n compliments the quiche well. We also ordered the chocolate caramel banana waffle to share. The waffle was light and crispy. The sauce was good, but would definitely be better requesting it on the side so the waffle wouldn't get soggy from it and you can control the amount. Overall, we will definitely come back here for lunch or one of their dinners (they open for additional dinner nights during special holidays). If you love great art and fine dining, this is the place for you! My experience here was everything I'd imagine it'd be and more. That's saying a lot considering I've wanted to eat here for foreverrrrr, each time looking at the menu online and reading reviews, imagining how my experience and food would be. It's easy to be underwhelmed when you have this preconceived idea of what every aspect of your meal will be like. Needless to say, I wasn't underwhelmed in the least. Truly a flawless experience from start to finish, this is the perfect place to have that special date, celebratory occasion, impress your guests or even just to have a beautiful meal out. I am an avid museum lover, so the fact that my new favorite restaurant is located inside of the Museum of Modern Art doesn't surprise me at all! Nestled in the far right corner of the grand lobby, just past the bathrooms is Café Modern. Led by Chef Jett Mora, who previously worked with Wolfgang Puck's Test Kitchen and catering, the cuisine here is best described as fresh, creative, yet still rooted in Texas with the use of amazing, locally sourced ingredients and southern flair. The entire restaurant is surrounded by a circle of floor to ceiling windows, which overlook the reflecting pond and museum architecture, this makes every seat in the place, the best seat in the house. It's also the small touches for me that make all the difference, like cloth napkins, real flowers on the table, printed menus and the most impactful small touch, a visit from the chef at your table! We had only placed our drink orders and were looking over the menu when to our surprise, Executive Chef Jeff Mora came over and delivered our drinks. He introduced himself and told us some of his favorite menu items, as well as explained the origin of the concepts and the ingredients. For a foodie (and at home amateur chef) as myself, I really appreciated this bit of insight, it is fascinating to hear these tidbits straight from the creative mind himself. He even took our orders and put them in for us. Really thoughtful, personal touch that absolutely made the experience. I had decided on the Berkshire Pork Belly Benedict, Jon got the Prime Rib French Dip and our daughter got the Homestead Gristmill Belgian Waffle. For drinks, I ordered the French Mimosa, which included a Creme de Violette and St. Germain, Jon got a TX Mule. While we waited for our main dishes, our waitress brought over a little plate of cornbreads. These were not your conventional little breads, but had more of a soft, soufflé texture. Really tasty! Our main plates arrived in a timely manner and everything was piping hot and delicious! My Benedict was served with whole roasted and crushed baby potatoes on the side which were crispy and fantastic. The eggs on my Benedict were perfectly poached, with set whites and golden, runny yolks. Ciabatta was toasted with a lovely crust and a satisfying chew. Soy caramel braise with a hit of vinegar reallllllly complimented the pork belly, which was so tender and flavorful already (thanks to a sous vide bath). The wilted greens were soft and well seasoned underneath and I was a big fan of the Lime and Chive hollandaise, which was tangy, full bodied and so decadent. I could envision that sauce tasting Incredible on top of great many more things besides Benedict's! My favorite component I think was the Green Tomato Relish though! Really just took everything to the next level with a bright contrast to the many rich and savory elements of this dish. Obsessed! Prime Rib French Dip was also absolute decadence. Meat was delicious and piled high inside of a nice crusty toasted baguette. Served with a twice baked potato, hot and savory Au Jus, as well as a creamy horseradish. Superb! Homestead Gristmill Belgian Waffle was sweet, simple and yummy! Dark Chocolate chips and Blood Orange marmalade topped with fresh whipped cream takes away your need for syrup. Perfect as it! Truly a flawless experience and one that won't be forgotten soon! Already planning our next visit because I want to try EVERYTHING here. So, if you're considering eating at Cafe Modern, do it! I get the Chinois Chicken Salad 99% of the time - it's just so good. They also have a great brunch on the weekends. WOW, what an incredible experience. We had reservations for Mother's Day Brunch, the busiest day in the restaurant industry. I was really doubtful that we would be seated on time. Surprise, we were seated 10 minutes early and there was a long line of people waiting to be seated. it really paid to make reservations earlier in the week. We were seated right next to the reflecting pool, a perfect table to gaze out on manicured grounds of the Modern Art Museum and the outdoor sculptures. The weather was perfect for Mother's Day. We started to order off the regualr brunch menu but our eyes were drawn to the Mother's Day Brunch specials. They had a lobster and shrimp mac and cheese with a side salad and an asparagus and brie quiche with a side salad and fresh fruit. We also ordered one of their speciality cocktails, hibiscus mimosas. After a short wait, our mimosas and a bread basket were brought to our table by our very attentive server. During our visit to the cafe, he took excellent care of us. The mimosas were incredible. They were a nice change from the normal mimosas. Even as busy as the restaurant was no one seemed to be rushing. We had time to enjoy the scenery, conversation and our mimosas before our brunch entrees were delivered. The entrees were portioned perfectly, not too small and not too large. Terry let me taste her quiche, oh my, wonderful. I mentioned to her we're going to have to make a copy-cat quiche at home with the same ingredients. I finally tasted my lobster, shrimp mac and cheese. Wow, I've died and gone to heaven. There was a perfect mix of pasta, sauce, cheese, lobster and shrimp topped with crunchy toasted panko bread crumbs. What a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day. I was a bit worried, as I have not tasted great food from hotels/museums in the past, but you can tell that the chefs here are presenting healthy and thoughtfully catered meals. I called in advance for a reservation -- not knowing that they closed at 2:30pm today rather than 5pm, and they happily sat me at 2pm. Not only that, but more customers continued to show up even breaching the 2:30pm close time and the waitstaff showed no sign of remorse on their face. First time going to Cafe Modern in my 23 years living in Fort Worth And I had a great experience. The atmosphere is very pretty looking over the reflecting pool. It does not get too loud in there which is nice. No phones which I also like (except I broke this rule to take pictures of food). The food was great. We got the burrata appetizer, berkshire pork belly benedict, local grind burger, and birria chilaquiles. (We went for brunch on sunday). I would say the birria chilaquiles was the star of the show. We also got the oysters which were a special that day. They were AMAZING!! I could skip out on the burrata next time- nothing show stopping about it but glad I tried it.
