Good so far. Nice place to visit & see friends. The receptionist is so nice, she support us alot. The food is well done, I think the chef comes from 5-star restaurant

My dude + Zen tempura and red dragon rolls.

I come here very often bc it's close to home and my dude really enjoys it. It has slowly become one of my fav sushi places in the Westbank. The rolls here are basic, but they do it well. The fish is always fresh and I've never had a bad experience. I usually dine in for lunch and it comes with complimentary noodle salad. Some of the rolls I always order that never disappoint are: Red dragon roll - Crunchy roll with tuna, BBQ eel, and avocado on top. Tiger roll - California roll with BBQ eel and salmon on top. Tornado roll - this comes tempura fried, but since we don't really enjoy fried rolls, we always ask for it not to be fried and they always accommodate to our needs. Zen tempura - shrimp tempura with spicy tuna and cream cheese. Tiger eyes - my bf really enjoys this, but it's a very big roll and instead of being wrapped with rice and seaweed, it's wrapped in cuttlefish. It's a very different roll and a little heavy for me. I always get all my rolls light rice bc if not, it's very thick and filling! And get their sauces on the side or else your rolls will be drowning in it!

I usually go to Daiwa for sushi on the Westbank but I saw Cafe Zen last time I went to Jasmine Rice for Thai food. I figured let see if I can add Cafe Zen to my go to list for sushi on the Wank. Unfortunately, it wasn't up to standards as the many other sushi establishments in The New Orleans area. I would rather drive to Marrero for Daiwa or across the CCC for sushi. The interior is modern and up to date. The mood and atmosphere were calming and serene. This place has the potential to be an outstanding sushi establishment. In addition, they have ramen, except it's not listed in the menu. I hadn't noticed the ramen option posted on the board above the sushi bar until we had already ordered. I docked 1 star because the service was well, I don't know where it went, but it wasn't there tonight. The waitress did the bare minimum when serving us. Brought us the menu, got our drinks, and served us our dishes. No check back to see how we were doing or to get refills or to ask if we wanted desert or anything else. I docked another star because the food was subpar. We ordered the surf clam, spicy tuna roll, baked salmon roll (I'll get into that in a bit), and chicken teriyaki (also more below). The surf clam and spicy tuna roll was actually the highlights of the evening. Both were really good and I give it to them, instead of they usual mushy spicy tuna mixture other places use, the spicy tuna roll here had actual visible whole tuna in the roll. The baked salmon roll is just a regular baked salmon appetizer even though it isn't listed under the appetizer list. It is NOT a ROLL. I was expecting something totally different since it was listed on the house special roll list. The chicken teriyaki was overcooked and so OMG dry, had it not been for the teriyaki sauce it would be an absolutely waste.

I have been wanting to try this place for years! It's pretty far from me, so it never really crosses my mind to make my way to try it out. I was lucky enough to have a friend to bring me here, which is one of his favorite sushi spots! The restaurant was spacious and decor was nice. This was my first meal of the day, so we ended up ordering a good bit. We ordered the Fried Octopus Balls (Takoyaki), Seviche Salad, Catepillar Roll, Red Dragon Roll, Tiger Roll, and the Baked Salmon Roll. The server brought our drinks and hot towels on a neat hammock tray. Our server brought out complimentary bowls of noodle salad for us, which I thought was nice. The food came out quickly and everything looked great! The Seviche Salad had a generous portion of sashimi and had a slight kick of spice. The Takoyaki came out piping hot with the perfect amount of sauce and octopus in each bite! The sushi rolls were well prepared and the sushi rice was seasoned nicely. The overall combinations of ingredients and sauce were pretty good, I barely had to dip in any sauces! The baked salmon roll was literally four mini baked salmon pieces, can't ever go wrong with that! Overall, a great spot to enjoy some sushi with your friends, family, or even by yourself! There's still much I need to try, but so far I enjoyed my recent visit.

The best sushi and service on the westbank! Every time I come to Cafe Zen it is delightful. The sushi is always large portions with big slices of fish. The service is better than any other sushi restaurant on the Wank. Hidden Gem!

So very good! I opted for this local restaurant instead of swinging by a grocery store for sushi. Did not disappoint. Best service and always call me by name. Very grateful to have this place close! Open for takeout and they continue to do a great job with their food! (It's July 2020.) Also, I always struggled to find photos of their menu so I can remind myself what rolls have what in them. Snapped photos of every menu page they had laid out on the counter for you in case you're like me. Enjoy!

The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!

I'm not the biggest fan of crab but that thing with that sauce...!! Lived up to the hype. I love candied yams and sweet potato pie so I had to try those cookies. Also amazing! Huge. One of the customers suggested having the line routed through the inside of the covered market, which was an amazing idea. So I walked to the front of the line and asked the cashier if she would be able to reroute us so we wouldn't all get soaking wet. She was the only person working up front and taking orders, but she was pleasant and kind and said sure. After she finished taking the order she was working on, she came from around the counter and rerouted the line so we could all get out of the rain. After that, the line seemed to move a little quicker too. I'd say we waited about 30 minutes, maybe even 25. We knew what we wanted because we were able to see the menu while we were waiting, but there are no prices listed, so you are a little shocked when you get to the register. I believe one crab beignet was between $8 and $9. I ended up spending about $40 total on two orders of traditional beignets, one crab beignet, a sweet potato cookie, and one order of praline beignets. The traditional and the praline come with three each, but the crab only comes with one. I posted one of my receipts below. Can't seem to find the receipt from my larger order. Now let's get to the taste.... they were amazing! Yes, when you go, try the crab and try the praline. I probably would not buy the traditional beignets again because they are significantly smaller than the Café du Monde beignets, and the taste is not drastically different. So you're paying more and getting less for pretty much the same product. But I would absolutely go back for the crab, the praline, and some of the other items she has. My cousin also had the beignet burger, which she said was great. All in all, it was a great experience. I just wish the beignets were a little bigger and the prices were a little lower, but with the cost of everything going up, I do understand. There's not much of an ambiance because you're pretty much sitting in a covered market. Birds are flying around, tourists are walking through looking at the different kiosks, and there's a lot going on around you. But they made the beignets to order, brought them out really fast, and there was a guy walking around wiping the tables after each person got up because, of course, there was powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. Lol.
