Walking in, there was one word that immediately came to mind: fresh. As I watched the staff put my food together, it was refreshing to see every ingredient displayed in plain sight to ensure the quality of each dish. This restaurant offers a wide variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches, as well as many dessert options and refreshing drinks. Hoping to try something new, I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and the chipotle chicken salad. Upon receiving my food, I was very happy with the quality of each item. The sandwich stayed warm throughout my time eating, and the salad had just the right amount of each ingredient. My guest enjoyed the roasted red pepper and lobster soup, which had an exquisite but not overpowering flavor! I was pleasantly surprised with the complimentary sides as well. They included a delicious chocolate covered strawberry and a small roll to eat after the main courses. I especially enjoyed the variety of drinks offered. They not only had various soda options, but offered 4 fruit infused refreshments (I absolutely loved the raspberry citrus infusion!) While waiting in line to order, the volume of the music was quite distracting. It was difficult for the staff to hear what I had ordered, but they were incredibly respectful regardless. Each member of the staff greeted me by asking how I was doing, and made sure to thank me for coming in upon leaving. There was a long line while waiting to order, but they made the line pass quickly with their attentiveness and hard work to continue making each dish. As soon as my guest and I finished there was already a worker to pick up our dishes and ask if I needed a box! I was impressed with how well they accommodated to COVID-19 with social distancing. The inside had stickers placed six feet apart in line, and although it was difficult to find an open table with so many being closed off, the staff was able to quickly direct us to the nearest open area. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available as well, which is great for any weather! Overall, I was quite pleased with this restaurant. It maintained a clean and presentable atmosphere even in the bathrooms, and the bill was not too expensive, especially for the quality and amount of food you are receiving. I really like their quality and taste of their food. The negatives I have are the organization of ordering isn't very good. There's too much going on and the staff seems to be lacking a good flow as you move down the line. I also think the sandwiches could be a little larger portions. The headline here is that meals come with a chocolate-dipped strawberry! Really more like 3.5 stars, but the food is closer to 5, set-up more like 3 I really like the concept, and the food was tasty - a wide variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. I will say it was a bit overwhelming and chaotic, and I think in time, when both patrons and staff get used to things, this will be really good. For example, the main entrance appears to be on the opposite side of the ordering line, so you're forced to walk through the dining area to order. The menu is extensive, and like Mac mentions there are some upcharges - you kind of need to study the menu before deciding. I ordered a soup/salad combo and chose to make my own salad. A salad consists of greens, 1 protein, 5 "toppings" and dressing. When I asked for quinoa and avocado, i was told those were two proteins so i had two use two of my "topping" allotments for the second protein, which would be fine except the avocado was only about a heaping teaspoon's worth of avocado. There are a lot of toppings, which is great, but when there's a line and you're feeling rushed to make choices, it can be a little stressful (that may just be me!). I had tomato soup which was excellent as well, they told me they could put in some orzo pasta "complimentary" I declined and asked for a few croutons instead. The server seemed to struggle a bit with this request (see previous reviews about upcharges), but reluctantly put a few croutons in a container for me. Agian, where this place falls a bit flat is in the set up. You are given your food on trays to take back to your table as soon as you're done ordering/paying. But then you go to a different area to get drinks and plastic silverware. Might be nice to have that all at the place you're ordering, or if they provided the silverware to you when you got your tray. I do like the "recharging station" area where you can sit at a counter and plug in. Overall a welcome addition to Eagan! read more

I ordered their 2 option combo with a protein bowl and soup, and cheesecake. While we were in line, we were not being acknowledged at all, and the employees were joking around amongst themselves and laughing. Very unprofessional. I found a hair in my bowl, and when I returned to the counter, every staff member just looked at me and the manager shouted from pretty far away if I had been helped, as I returned to the cash register and not the beginning of the line. They offered to make me a new bowl, but not rerun my money. Then when I was eating the cheesecake, discovered it was still very much FROZEN! When I returned to the counter AGAIN, the same thing happened. I was not approached and had to practically shout to the employees across the restaurant. I asked for my money back and they refunded ONLY the cheesecake and not the whole meal. Poor Customer service all around. Will not be returning. One star is too generous. read more

I'm an executive assistant and use Café Zupas catering in Eagan as often as I can. They always do a great job for our working lunches. The sandwiches and salads are always well-received by our staff. The portions are very decent, menu options are fantastic and the chocolate covered strawberries and cookies are a favorite for our employees! UPDATE to review below: So the food is tasty. But man they are STINGY! They couldn't ever single ingredient they give you to make sure they don't give any extra away. Literally, every ingredient. They carefully level out every scoop to make sure they don't give a morsel too many. It's just ridiculous. For instance, the difference between a half size mango berry salad and a large mango berry salad is about 1/4 c more shredddd lettuce and about 8 pieces of TINY mango pieces. Ridiculous. They are alienating their customers. This place does not make their customers feel appreciated. Apparently this place is focused on only their profit and not the long term of how they are irritating their customers. ------------------ Had the pick 2 with nuts about berries salad and honey cilantro carnitas. Came with a roll and chocolate dipped strawberry. Very fresh tasting and very tasty. My only complaint is I wish the lettuce wasn't shredded. But overall very good. I am frequent visitor to Zupas. Their food is fantastic! Their salads are so fresh and their soups are so good and flavorful. Went for dinner and was very impressed. The restaurant has the feel of a Panera, but newer and healthy! The staff was extremely helpful and the food came quickly. Zupas is a good quality restaurant. It has delicious food and the combos are great. I had an ultimate grilled cheese and Wisconsin cauliflower soup. They don't have enough seating for how busy this place is. Every time I come in it's a struggle to find a place to sit. The staff are friendly and seem to enjoy working there. The price is somewhat high it's not too bad but it's worth it considering the quality of the food. This is one of my new favorite places to go for lunch. read more

New restaurant in town. I think of Panera as relatively healthy but this place has them beat. Whole food ingredients, made fresh. Great tasting. We had the try two combo which is any combo of a whole sandwich, half salad, half soup plus a chocolate dipped strawberry and bread. A LOT of food! We had to take half our sandwiches home. Desserts were delicious. They have infused beverages like lemonade with raw honey. Everything we had was good. My son had the lobster bisque with real chunks of lobster. We also had the kale & quinoa salad, nuts and berries salad, Honey bacon club, California Turkey sandwich was a little bland, and my daughter had the pulled pork which was really tasty. Cost is on par with Panera but you get a lot more food here. The combo was $8.99. We added drink bar for $1.99 each and wanted to try a couple desserts that were $2.99 each but looked like they should be more expensive. Overall a good choice. I love Cafe Zupas so much! The food is always super fresh and delicious, and there are plenty of options to choose from. My meal of choice is the Chicken Pesto Panini with Chicken Enchilada Chili. Add a roll, chocolate covered strawberry, and fresh-squeezed Orange Berry beverage. This place has to have some of the worst service around. They start out very friendly at first and as you work your way down the line, chaos insues EVERYTIME. I'm sick of getting cold panini's which are meant to be hot. The staff is always clueless. The biggest issue is with the way they have structured the line. They rely on the customer to remember their EXACT order, but no one ever does. Especially the dad of a family of 4, who's kids and wife already went to find a seat. Multiple times I've seen the customer at the register walk to their table to ask what everyone ordered because the staff has NO idea. Everyone behind this person in line has to wait.... Bad... Upon entering the café, you are greeted with loud music, loud conversations, rattling dishes, and obnoxious loud music. Most of this is due to very poor acoustics. If you are going there for a relaxing lunch with conversation, forget it! The tables are crammed in so tight, you can't walk through them to get to a table. Aside from the ambiance, the food is wonderful! It is fresh and the selection and variety is excellent. I love the fact that they put the calorie information on their menu. Restaurant is 4 stars but the headquarters is negative 5 starts. I asked the worker to give me a strawberry without chocolate, and she said they are not allowed to do it. I asked why but of course she doesn't know, she doesn't care. So I sent an inquiry via email to the headquarters, twice. After over 10 days still no reply. If I'm reaching out to the wrong place at least they can tell me where I should contact.... Ignoring customers inquiries is such a rude thing businesses can do. I'm not asking extra stuff, I'm asking less stuff (no chocolate). I don't understand why they cannot give strawberries without chocolate. When the restaurant was opened they were giving us big nice strawberries but these days what they give us are ridiculously tiny & bad looking strawberries. The place have a big variety of soup, salad and sandwiches. The service is fast and food is good. However, the arrangement of the tables and chairs in the middle is tight. I don't like the location of the beverages, utensils and trash very close to the other tables. So when it's full, you can bump one person eating. read more
