My mom and dad have been going to Abruzzi's since 1963. Last night at 96 my mom made yet another visit for one of the best meals ever. The steak was perfect. The lobster melted like butter. The scallops were excellent but most of all Michelle, our waitress, and the whole staff treated us like royalty. I always make stop in 422 every trip to Warren and the legacy of excellence continues. We just had lunch at the cafe 422 and the server Michelle was fantastic. She greeted us with a great smile and did everything in her power to make our dining experience the very best it could be. We never felt rushed and she was there when we had a request. We enjoyed our meal very much and had the best time in a long time. Great restaurant and great service and great people! We went there for my friends wedding reception, I ordered the prime rib of beef with garlic mashed potatoes and my wife ordered the chicken marsala with garlic mashed potatoes. Both meals were bland in taste and we weren't impressed at all. There were no prices on the short menus that we got. When everyone got their bill we think everyone was stunned, I know that we were. Our bill was $73. For the 2 pepsi's one prime of rib of beef with garlic mashed potatoes and my wife's chicken marsala with garlic mashed potatoes and 2 salads. We won't be going back there especially when we can go somewhere else with better tasting food and cheaper prices. read more

Bummer. We were there today around noon and we won't be back for many reasons. The elevator jazzy muzak track was so loud and annoying that I had a headache by the time I left. Seriously, it was bad. I swear, if I were waiting tables there I would have been a grump by the end of my shift! It might be considered a hostile work environment due solely to that factor. What was positive: plenty of bread and peppers in oil, the tomato caprese salad, MIL loved her fish francaise and son was OK with his breakfast pizza (though it was small for $12 and didn't have 3 eggs on it, as described in the menu), hubby said the breakfast burger was OK. What was noteworthy: the server had them prepare 2 more eggs and some toast. This suggests she wanted to ensure we were happy and I appreciated her efforts. What was bad: no gluten-free menu. Our server had little knowledge of gluten content in foods I inquired about (stated the head chef was out of the country on vacation so no one knew what was in the sausage and wasn't sure if the sausage was even made in-house). She also said the chef makes everything in-house so I wondered why not address allergens on the menu? People with allergies feel a lot better when they can read what's in their food, plus, it is a potential liability for the restaurant. Back to our visit and off the soapbox: our server said the chicken francais could be prepared without breading, but I wasn't comfortable it was GF. I felt like I would have had to ask 5 follow up questions to find out so I skipped the thought. The server did say they had gluten-free pasta (which I felt wouldn't matter much if the sauce contained gluten). Overall, it was foggy. GF is not a choice for me and this area definitely represents a management and a training issue. What really bummed me out: the greens and beans did have the questionable gluten/no gluten? sausage throughout, despite my asking if it could be held. They were absolutely terrible and inedible. Way too much salt, the texture was very weird, hardly any greens, and they had been overcooked and reheated (microwaved) as well. As someone who's eaten beans and greens their whole life, I rate the dish a 0/5. Sadly, it wasn't a good experience. read more

We had dinner here on a Saturday night there was no waiting the place filled up after around 7 PM. We ordered the peppers and oil and Italian greens as our appetizers. Be warned the peppers and oil are very very hot they were served with nice bread and butter which took some of the sting out of the heat. The Italian greens are different than Italian greens I've got from other restaurants they were not bad just different they were very good. We both ordered steaks I ordered a 12 ounce New York strip it was cooked perfectly very flavorful seasoned lightly tender and delicious. My wife ordered the sirloin it was cooked it was cooked correctly very tender and tasty also. I know they are not known for their steaks here but they had very good steaks. Another thing they're not known for is margaritas but the margaritas we ordered were were delicious they were perfect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good meal all the prices are a little on the high Side. It's worth the trip. read more

I was in town for business and the staff at the Fairfield recommended this place. My coworkers and I were able to find items to our liking on the menu. One of the people in my party wasn't quite sure what to order, but asked the server about a couple things and he settled on the veal. I had the white fish with peppers and the other person in my party had the eggplant Parmesan. We all left full and satisfied. Drinks were kept full, the server suggested items we were interested in (such as the hot peppers with oil for the bread), the food all came out piping hot so we knew it was fresh. Bread and soup/salad came out quickly and the entrees were served just after clearing the soup/salad course so the timing was great. I take off a star because the restaurant had an odd smell like a barn. Maybe it was someone in the restaurant, but it had the same smell at the entry and where we were seated. We ordered greens in olive oil, hummus and pita, minestrone soup, pasta primavera with a substitute of Alfredo over marinara, and tiramisu. All the items were delicious. I ended up getting the 3 course meal. The chicken francaise was average and very dry, the Cesar salad was normal and drenched in dressing, bread was cold, and the Penne and marinara was average at best. I also had the cheesecake that was disgusting and I would have rather bought frozen cheesecake instead. The waitress was horrible by never coming back except to drop off our drinks. I believe this place is over priced and has low quality food. But there was one positive the young female waitress actually was very polite and was able to assist us when our waitress wasn't. read more

Came for a large family dinner -- multiple dishes came out that were inedible. The chicken was undercooked and had to be sent back, those meals were not comped. The food that was edible was good, but please don't risk it, it is not worth it to eat here and get sick because they don't cook their poultry properly. Again, the people that had to send food back did not get any replacement dishes and had to sit and wait while everyone else ate while their meals were "recooked". read more

I have been to Cafe 422 with my wife 5 times. If you go ask for Lisa. Whenever she takes care of us the service is fabulous. Anyone else has not been good. The last 3 times the food was not good. They used the same excuse each time "This is not the normal chef." We waited an excesivelly long time to place our drink order. And this last time, even after reminding the server 3 times I still did not have my drink. I finally flagged down Lisa, who was not our server at the time, and she got my drink. But it was hallf way through the meal. This was definitely our last trip to Cafe 422. read more

Disappointing. Our first & what will be our last visit came on a Saturday evening. In town for shopping, we chose Cafe 422 because our first choice had a 60 to 90 minute wait. Cafe 422 quoted a 45 minute wait time which was accurate. I was excited as we waited as I saw patron after patron leaving with leftovers. My excitement diminished once we were seated. Our server may have been over-worked or just in a sour mood but Kimberlee B. had a most unpleasant disposition. We also waited approx. 40 minutes for our meals which were good but neither excellent nor exceptional. Perhaps Cafe 422 is a local favorite where, over time, others have found the experience to be positive. Perhaps we simply caught everyone on a bad day. Unfortunately, in the restaurant business, you often only get one shot at creating an experience after which the customer will say, "Yes, I will return to spend my time and money!" I was excited to go there first time since covid-19. Our meal was not bad but our waitress had a huge chip on her shoulder. As if our presence there was bothering her. She was hardly civil. Terrible service, took over an hour to just serve two dishes. Server constantly came back to ask about orders, even then the food still came out wrong. I had the lamb burger, worst decision ever. The patty was charred black on the outside. I would tell you how it he meat actually tastes but all I tasted was soot. My SO had the prime rib sandwich, that too was disgusting. The meat had no taste to indicate that it was actually prime rib at all. She felt cheated. On top of that the French onion soup that came with the meal was salted like the chef wanted us to have a hypertensive crisis, I wondered if they just used seawater to make the soup. We made out dissatisfaction known to our incompetent server, expecting the manage to come talk to us. That never happened. I was born and raised in Warren and used to eat here as a kid. We stopped in on my first trip back in 30 years and was truly charmed by this place. The host greeted us warmly and the server was wonderful. So let's talk food. The bread was literally a half loaf of thick sliced crusty bread - but oh so soft inside! My husband had the chicken Parmesan - moist and served with an amazing tomato laden red sauce! The white clam linguini was delicious with large clams and just the right amount of garlic. The Alfredo sauce - I'm not sure what to say. It was hands down best any of us have ever tasted!! When the host learned of my daughters deep love of the bread he returned with an entire loaf for us to take home. This is a well run restaurant with truly delicious food! three words... bug in food.... Ok so I came here for my birthday dinner (i was visiting boyfriends family). I knew that the vegetarian choices in this area were going to be limited but everyone suggested this place. It was packed! We had to wait at the bar for over a half an hour and even there we had to wait a super long time to get drinks. When we sat down I ordered eggplant and it came with a salad. There were 7 of us at the table when our salads were delivered. I looked down at mine and perched right on top was a grub all curled up. I casually tapped my boyfriend on the shoulder and asked him if he thought that was a bug. He looked and said he didn't know. I took my fork and moved it to a salad plate where it uncurled and WALKED AWAY...... The waitress apologized profusely but there really isn't any coming back from a live bug on your food. Came here for a shared birthday dinner with a friend and family party of 8. Table was already waiting when we got there. Server was prompt and attentive. Ordered a filet mignon which included pasta, side salad, and desert. The filet was cooked a perfect medium rare, large portion as well. The pasta was a penne and the sauce was seasoned very well. First of all this is no longer the classy restaurant it used to be, men wearing basketball shorts and jeans are the norm. The food was just ok, I ordered the Parmesan crusted fish and i was served a piece of deep fried fish with Parmesan sprinkle cheese over the top, this was way below my expectation. The drinks were weak as the alcohol was nearly undetectable. We ordered dessert, creme brulee, it was served cold even though the waitress told us it has just come off the torch which was hard to believe as the dish wasn't even warm. This review is for the new Boardman location. Just opened in October, very nice decor . Sedar (one of the owners) was always at the host station, insuring prompt seating and greeting everyone with a smile. We ordered the wood fired pizza for an app along with the mussels. Both were very good, the marinara sauce on the mussels was amazing. I had Chicken Francaise, by GF had broiled Haddock, both dishes were good. Went here Saturday night. Walked in a set of 1970 old school wooden double doors into a dark dingy space that had an intial musty smell. That was my first impression. Was seated in the bar area. Service and food where very prompted. I had a charred rib steak which was very good and my wife had a chicken kabob which she enjoyed. Drinks where sangria and margarita which where adequite but nothing to write home about. Overall the food was above average but not outstanding. The waitress we had was very good. Overall, this is a better than average Italian restaurant. We will most likely come again, and hopefully the service improves a bit. I came here on a Saturday night with my wife, 6:30 ish. They were busy but not crazy. 25 minute wait. We were seated and it took a little longer than I would have liked for our server to come over. He seemed a little new so we gave him a break. Our first visit! We came to see the concert for the night- they had a full-house, and the wait staff was still very friendly and fast. Have been going there for 25 years. Ordered their Marsala Chicken and Egg plant parm (husbands favorite). The chicken marsala had plenty of mushrooms, but the dish looked like someone had just put brown gravy and mushrooms on top of chicken and called it Chicken Marsala. There was no taste of any spices or the marsala within the dish. I was very disappointed. The eggplant parmesan tasted like the sauce was old and had been sitting around for awhile. There was very little cheese on the dish. The clam chowder was excellent as was the pasta fasioule (?). Of course we did take out as that is what we need to do for now. I know times are tough, but keeping up the good food they always used to have during this time, will ensure customers come back in the future. read more
