Heard great things about Cafe 86 and was especially excited to see the hallway of art. Waited about 30 mins in line before getting to the register. The service was really fast, considering how long the line was. (The line had gotten even longer by the time I left.) I ordered a halo halo and it was really good! Considering there isn't anything similar in the nearby vicinity, this place gets packed and the service is quick slow. Their operations seemed disorganized and customers had to wait quite a bit to have their order placed. Despite I placed my order online but still ended up waiting over 20 minutes for my order. I've tried this place before but in Vegas. So when I heard it was coming to the Bay, I was thrilled! But that thrill went away quickly when I saw how long the line was. The line was out the door on a Saturday night. There were a good amount of people outside... I didn't expect to wait too long because, how long can it take to order a few desserts that are already made and some drinks. I was quickly proven wrong. We waited a total of 60 minutes..... Despite the wait, everything was delicious. I got the cheesecake, flan, and the upsidedown halo halo. The cheesecake and the upside down halo halo were my favorite. Definitely recommend those two items if you can't decide. I'll probably have to wait until this place dies down because I am not willing to wait that long again. So good, we went to Cafe 86 in socal AND norcal! If you're ever wanting to experience the Phillipines with via dessert, this is the place to go! We typically order the Ube latte (cold) and the ube flan cupcake. The ube latte is super delicious! It is rich and not over powering. The ube flan cupcake (which has a very cool specialized take out container) is yummy! Not sure I have ever had the combination of ube and flan before, but it should be around more! I've known about this place for awhile since they have multiple shops in SoCal but never had a chance to try it so I was super excited to find out they were opening their first NorCal location (they are opening a second one in mountain view)! I came 45 minutes before closing the second week of opening and they still had a line out the door !! Not to worry though, they line moved decently fast and they still had all the pastries available to purchase. I recently visited and then lines seems to have settled and it too long of a wait. I came 15 minutes after they just opened at 12:30 and there was a line already. Once I started to order the milo and tres leche baked goods was all sold out already. I ordered the ube monster milkshake which taste like ube ice cream. Halo halo bread pudding, ube truffles, ube crack cheesecake, and Ube leche flan. I also ordered this coffee baked goods but I didn't receive that one... so make sure you check what you guys ordered. Out of the baked goods I only enjoyed the halo halo bread pudding & ube truffles. If you're taking this to go, they require you to heat up the bread pudding for 1 minute. It's best when it's hot. You also do get ice cream with the bread pudding so request your ice cream on the side. The crack ube cheesecake was over hyped for me. The both the cupcake part and the leche flan part was super dense. Will update once my boyfriend tries this and once I order more drinks. The dessert is great! I was very nervous about their desserts being very sweet, but surprisingly for me it was not at all. The texture was perfect. I am definitely going to go back to try out more dessert. As for the boba, it was just okay. We had the house milk tea which tasted more like milk than tea. The ube milk tea was pretty good. This is my all-time favorite boba spot that I have ever had. I would frequent their Pasadena location every time I made a trip to SoCal, so having them one location here in the bay is a dream come true. From their desserts to their drinks, everything tastes amazing and honestly if you have a sweet tooth, pick anything and you won't be disappointed. I don't know if we just came by on an off day but it didn't live up to the hype. We've heard about all the great stuff in LA and picked out the ones that my friend's loved from the socal location but we were disappointed. Everything we had was just a bit gritty like the ube power wasn't quite mixed or cooked out. 1.) Ube Latte - Honestly just tasted like ube milk tea from Quicklys without the tea part. Very powdery and maybe adding a shot to it would've been better. 2.) Calamansi Jasmine Green Tea - It had a bitter aftertastes and you really didn't taste the calamansi 3.) Ube Tirimisu - The least sweet out of all the desserts. It was grainy and had a weird aftertaste that we couldn't quite put our finger on. 4.) Ube Cheesecake - The cheesecake was good not sure there was a lot of ube flavor but it was quite purple. Couldn't really grab it with the crust probably cuz it was in the fridge but we couldn't cut into the crust on the bottom. 5.) Ube Flan Cupcake - the flan fell right off. The flan had good flavor but weird texture. Maybe over steamed? it was chewy instead of that jello=y consistency. The cupcake was dry and hard also maybe again due to the fact it was so cold. 6.) tres leches - This one we had such high hopes for. I heard it was super good in the socal location but it just tasted like sugar to us. Maybe overly drenched? There was no real flavor but sweet. I'm not sure if we just came on an off day. I'm so happy this place is close to me and was so excited to finally try it! Chocolate Coffee Crunch Cup 5/5 I didn't really taste the coffee but I loved how this dessert wasn't overly sweet! I decided to indulge today in a milkshake, which I haven't had in a while, and I was surprised by how nicely balanced the shake was. I've always felt that milkshakes got to be too overwhelming in sweetness near the end, but I really enjoyed the cookie butter milkshake since it had the speculoos flavor and the creaminess of a milkshake, but throughout the shake it tasted nicely sweet. If you're coming here to compare to Che, the Vietnamese dessert, just know that they are two very different things. The only time I really tasted any Nutella was when I got one of the nutella chunks at the bottom. I think I'd better dissolved, then this drink could have more potential. On a mid-afternoon Saturday we waited in line for an hour and 15 minutes before we were able to order. For drinks we had the halo halo, ube monster, and mermaid milk tea, and for desserts we had the ube truffle, ube cracker and the ube flan cupcake. We definitely like the desserts better than the drinks. The halo halo was good, but the other ube drinks we had the ube flavor was too weak to the point the drinks they tasted bland. They just opened last month and definitely still need to work out some logistics. It took almost one hour from the end of the line to receiving our order. 30 minutes in line plus 30 minutes until you get your order, ymmv. We feel so bad for the staff here. It was non-stop busy and they were running around the entire time. We've been to their location in Las Vegas, the space is larger and it's been there much longer so the crowd is smaller. The drinks remind us of Dutch Bros. I had a small issue with their Sea Salt Coffee, there's tea in it but they don't tell you that when you order it. I like my coffee stronger (Vietnamese coffee, espresso shots) so I wouldn't order here again but my wife and daughter liked the Cookie Butter blended and espresso drinks. We also shared almost every dessert (again) and they're all worth trying at least once. Traditional combinations and beautifully-presented, truly IG-worthy. Standouts were the signature ube flan cupcake, ube crack cheesecake and the upside down halo halo. $75 including 20% tip. A couple suggestions - have pics or descriptions so staff aren't spending time answering basic questions and customers know the ingredients, improve behind-the-counter so there's better flow, mobile pre-ordering, and finally, please open a location in West San Jose! read more

Super dense cake but delicious. Ube Flan Cheesecake: Probably my favorite. Nice balance of flavors. Flan is extremely good and provides a nice contrast to the Ube cake. After lunch, it was time for some dessert and our coordinator had halo-halo in her mind and brought us to Café 86. She said this location was the Bay Area's first location as they had five locations in SoCal and one in Vegas. The display case had delicious looking desserts, milo cupcakes, halo-halo bread pudding, ube butter bars, ube crack cheesecakes, ube tres leches, ube truffles and ube leche flan cupcakes. Their menu board listed the teas, milk teas, milkshakes, slush, expressos, lattes, and three sandwiches. But we were here for halo-halo. It had jackfruit, red and green gulaman, macapuno, boba, and other items, and topped with leche flan, corn flakes and a scoop of ube ice cream. It was a creamy version with a coffee flavor instead of using shaved ice and condensed milk. After mixing it up, it was milk shake like. I've never had this version as I was more used to it being made with the shaved ice and condensed milk. But it was good, tasty and a nice dessert after our lunch. At $8, the price is not bad compared to the $12 - $14 ones I've seen in the Bay Area. Glad Café 86 is now in the Bay Area offering halo-halo and other Filipino desserts. Hi internetz! I came here last Tuesday and love the vibe here so I thought I'd write this sweet review for Cafe86. First, the food here is so amazing! They have a new digital menu so even if you're an introvert like me you can still order solo but the staff here are super friendly and amazing! Everything on the menu looks amazing. I got the cheesecake they had there with a boba tea and both were perfect until I got jealous when one of my team mates ordered the grill cheese sandwich which looked so delicious. Perfect location, easy to get in and out with parking, awesome rustic vibe, friendly staff and great food and drinks. Melinda is one of the owners there and was on site when we were there.
