Cafe 906 is casual and quick if you're looking for something tasty but not necessarily the brunch rush to come with it. I had their bold drip coffee and a ham, Swiss, and spinach croissant sandwich. My croissant was good! I prefer another French Cafe a little closer to my home. There is plenty of outside seating and it looks out to the lake. Enjoy your morning and weather here. Their speciality coffees looked very good but i wanted to try their plain coffee first. A little warning, I'm a bit of coffee snob so what I think about my coffee may not be how others feel. I was the first one in this morning and the place was so peaceful and ready for business. The staff are always so attentive. I ordered a dark roast coffee and omlette with toast. The omelettes are made to order. You can pick three items for the omlette and pay additional for more items. Mine had bacon, turkey and onions. It was cooked well. The atmosphere is pleasant. We came in for lunch on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. There is indoor seating but since it was a nice day we sat outside. There is a good selection of pastries and since it's French, there is a lot of cheese in each menu item, from the quiche to the croque to the baguette sandwiches. They also have a selection of coffee for after lunch...just like France! Cafe 906 was a good work lunch hour option because the service was fast enough for us to order, get the food and eat it there. Came here for crepes. Yum! We ordered two sweet crepes. One just with strawberries and another with dulce de leche with added strawberries. We come from a European background and love crepes! We constantly make crepes as this is what Russians do all the time. The crepe itself is sweet, and a bit thicker than normal. But the flavors just mend so well together. The texture is good. Not dry, but almost moist. My kid's loved both the crepes too! Which is a good sign. Now the other item we ordered was a lavender macaroon. The lavender seemed to over power and tasted like soap. A hint of lavender is good, but too much of it can be overwhelming. The facility is clean and well kept. The staff is really friendly too! Glad I found a crepe place I like! This is a great find for someone from the other side of town. I have been looking for a good French pastry place for sometime now. Unfortunately it is about 40 miles away from home which makes it very difficult to make the trek here for breakfast. They have a limited selection of pastries but they pack a punch right on the sweet spot. The plain or almond croissants were spot on. The eclairs were the only ones I found that have original French pastry cream fillings. The fruit tarts were excellent. I saw some of the breakfast sandwiches both on baguettes or croissants coming out and wish I had space to try them. Well that will definitely be a valid excise for another visit. The best surprise in this place is the crêpes. I will say no more than a selection of fresh made sweet or savory options too good to dwell in explaining. The menu has plenty of tempting options for lunch which must be savored in the future too. Meanwhile a 5 star for the pastries and superb hot chocolate. read more

I love how close this is to where I live - literally a walk across the street! I can't believe I didn't come here sooner - I finally came around after living in Baldwin for a year already. Thanks to a friend my boyfriend and I dropped by for breakfast. It's located between the Cigar shop and a Salon. There's plenty of street parking available nearby so you won't have too much trouble unless you go during busier times (i.e. Brunch, Happy Hour, etc). It's a very comforting atmosphere. There's plenty of seating inside and additional seating outside. We often bring our puppy here because they have water bowls for all furry friends. They serve food from sandwiches, crepes, salads, coffee, etc. My personal favorite is the Norwegian and their Iced Caramel Drizzle Latte. When I'm really feeling hungry I'll go for one of their crepes. The food is fresh and delicious - oh, and very consistent which is a big plus in my books. The employees here are very nice and attentive. I highly recommend a stop here. read more

I really like the area in and around Baldwin Park. 906 was located in downtown at the end of a trendy, cozy street. The inside was that of a chic coffee shop where 20-somethings frequented. The aura was a welcome feeling. STAFF: 5 stars. The staff was courteous. Being that it was my first visit in quite some time, I took an admittedly long time looking at the wall menu. It must have been a little awkward for the cashier (whatever) but he was nice and helpful. TL; DR VERDICT: 5 stars. I've had Cafe 906 bookmarked here on Yelp for a couple months now and finally got around to visiting. The cafe is located towards the end of the Main Street in downtown Baldwin Park. It's small inside, with 6 tables that seat 2-4 people, but more seating outside. I ordered the special of the day, which was two friend eggs over two hash brown patties with cheese and bacon sandwiched in between. It also came with a small side salad. The eggs were done perfectly. The hash browns were hash browns. Nothing special, but tasty. The cheese and bacon were a delightful addition. To drink I ordered a cranberry mimosa and a peppermint mocha latte (iced). I have to say cranberry mimosas are my new favorite. Orange is just over done now! The peppermint mocha was good but I don't need to get it again. All in all, it was a good visit. They have a lot of options, so there will be something for everyone. read more

4 stars for delicious pastries, fun drink options and great coffee! Cafe 906 servers up seriously legit pastries. My husband and I split a Nutella Lava Cake and it was phenomenal. We wanted to order more but couldn't justify the calories. I definitely plan on sampling a croissant in the future. We were surprised to see a fairly legitimate brunch menu! It was small, but had some tasty looking options. I was also impressed with their deals on mimosas. Considering their massive outdoor patio and proximity to Lake Baldwin Dog Park, we will definitely drop by for brunch sometime with the pooch. We also tried their coffee. I ordered a cappuccino (to-go) and it was solid. It was priced at $3.25, so it wasn't a crazy good deal but I was happy with the value. My husband ordered a Peppermint Mocha and he loved it. We make this our Sunday ritual to bike to the cafe get some cappuccinos and goat cheese spinach quiches. It's all very good and the quiche is never over salted. The young servers are friendly and cheerful. Plus you have a great view of the lake and fountain from the patio seating. I'd recommend Cafe 906. Today we wanted to branch out I'd ask the owner why the avocado toast is $11-15 per piece of toast that seemed steep for us versus $7.50 for the quiche that has a side salad. Such a great spot for lunch, especially in the middle of a bike ride since all food items are light and healthy! The sandwich of the day #2 is delicious. It includes lox,cream cheese,cucumber on a cranberry bread! The cranberry sweeteners just brings the white sandwich together. Their Paris crepe was OK. It was a crepe with ham, swiss and egg. It was a bit lacking in flavor for my taste. Now their croissant sandwiches do have tons of flavors!!!! The croissant is perfectly made m, super flaky with a touch of buttery smoothness to it! Add meat and you have a fantastic sandwich !! Overall I love this place especially during a quick lunch stop in between riding bikes on the Cady Way Trail! read more

the good: fantastic quiches and pastries. . Very friendly staff and owner's.  the bad: many times when we visit, there are dogs inside the restaurant. Orange County ordnance does not allow dogs inside restaurants. OC allows dogs only in outside areas (but even then only if the restaurant must have a permit for dogs, and then only in their outdoor seating area). On our last visit, a guest brought a large dog inside, ordered, and then she and her dog took a seat inside at the couch area. Another patron was already seated there but was displaced (and quite unhappy about it) as he did not want to eat next to a large dog. Next, a young man came in who was not wearing a shirt, and went to the counter and ordered. All the seated guests, and the staff, immediately noticed. One customer called out the shirtless customer and a loud argument ensued between the two. The staff should have asked the shirtless customer to leave, and not taken his order or served him. Instead, the staff took his order and served him. All the guests were agast! My opinion. The owners need to: 1). post 2 signs at the front door.... a "no dogs inside" and a "shirt and shoes required", and 2) Train their staff to enforce these rules, i e., ask customers to leave their dogs outside while ordering, and do not serve customers who aren't wearing shirts. Restaurant owners must understand that it is not appealing to go to a restaurant and have to deal with dogs, and patrons with no shirts!!! read more

Tried this spot because of the fact that is popped up as a French bistro. I'm eating it as just okay. The atmosphere was very nice. Service was good as well but really felt like my crepe was just "okay." The crepe shell itself was good but when it came to the filling the chicken just tasted very dry and I did not finish it. I did finish the side salad though and it was just okay as well. I would try this spot out again but would likely go for another menu item just for true comparison. read more

Wow! What a find. I rode here with my cycling club and we stopped to enjoy breakfast on the patio. The ambiance was casual, with counter service ordering and delivery to the table. We had a large group and multiple orders. The food did tend to trickle out, but it was understandable with our group size. I had a walnut/bacon/bleu cheese crepe. I cannot remember what they actually called it, but walnuts, bacon, cheese... The serving size was generous, and the food was amazing. I was beyond full, and kept eating because it was so delicious. Had I arrived by car, I would have taken home leftovers. As I arrived by bicycle, the crepe was passed around and picked over by most of our group and received high marks across the board. I cannot wait to head back to try their fresh pastries and sample more of the brunch menu. read more

Cafe 906 has become my new favorite cafe! I have no complaints about this place whatsoever. The staff has always been very friendly and efficient, and the food is always stellar. I find that the portions are very generous for a small family owned business. My go-to items on the menu are the Norwegian and the crepes. The Norwegian is unlike any sandwich I've ever had elsewhere, the flavors of the cranberry bread complement the salmon and cream cheese perfectly! The dough for the crepes is superb. Cafe 906 Berating a special needs customer. My Morning at Cafe 906: I just witnessed the owner berating, bullying and threatening to call the Police on a special needs young lady. Why did he do this? Because she slipped on a wet floor trying to enter his cafe. She was then escorted to be seated outside. She attempted to enter 2 more times to order and was refused entry , they finally sent a server out to give her a menu and take her order. So she has fallen once, tried to enter two more times for service- essentially being denied 2 times and finally giving her service her 3rd time. She attempted to enter a 4th time to use the restroom and was denied entry- the owner came outside irate and began yelling at her. I quote the owner "Do you want me to call the police to find out what is wrong with you?" She tried to explain herself but he would not listen to understand her needs. Breakfast sandwiches are tasty and priced well. The croissants are made in house, nice flavor. There is a tempting pastry case with croissants, fresh fruit tarts, dessert souffles and the like. I've enjoyed the Cafe 906 Iced Chai on my last two visits, an iced chai topped with a shot of espresso (Nespresso). The sweetness of the drink is cut down by the espresso shot, but the Chai spices still shine through. Very friendly staff and owners, the nice gal working the counter remembered my order from the week before. Plenty of air-conditioned seating, but the patio offers plenty of shade and is a great option in warm or cooler weather. read more

This is a small diner that has indoor seating for about 20 and additional patio seating for maybe 12 more. The diner has a French theme for the menu and the decor. I decided on an omelette, toast, and light roast coffee. The coffee was served hot in a reasonable size ceramic cup. Not the typical diner cup that only holds a few sips. The coffee flavor was good and exactly what you would expect. The omelette was not what I expected at a French diner. The omelette was flat not fluffy and it was difficult to find the vegetables ordered as filling. The omelette was not your light and fluffy eggs filled with goodness. The counter service is good. You can't visit a French bakery without throwing around terms like "light" and "flaky" to describe the food, but let's not forget two things about Cafe 906: First, it's not merely a bakery, it's a cafe with so much more. After placing your initial order while gazing at the lovely creations in the bakery case, you'll enjoy dining on cute ceramic plates, drinking your coffee from a ceramic mug, and using real flatware. The staff checks back with you to ensure your experience is perfect, and clears your place -- this isn't a tray-hunt for a wastebasket at a fast-food joint. Second, the atmosphere is relaxing and conducive to enjoying your visit. Dining outdoors grants you a view of not only the palm-tree-lined, quaint streets of Baldwin Park downtown, but also of the fountain and the lake. Most of the tables are close enough to the street to grant these views. Inside the decor is immaculately clean and modern, in tasteful colors making you feel at home -- as if the chocolate croissant didn't already do that for you! :-) Everybody says the, because it's true, and it happens to me also: Those light, buttery pastries, mildly-sweetened fillings, perfect crusts, and fresh ingredients composing flavorful quiches, marvelously-made crepes and omelettes, salads, and sandwiches do indeed evoke memories of my visits each morning to bakeries in France. Is it just me, or is Cafe 906 even better than those places? I think it's better, because it's bigger and more broad in offerings than just a bakery tucked away in, oh, say, Villefranche-Sur-Mer. And here, at Cafe 906, they seem to keep getting everything right. They find the ingredients to match what I once thought impossible -- the creamy goodness of fresh-from-the-family-farm French butter and cheese. How can a Starbucks hope to compare with Cafe 906, where your food is made by a French family making everything to the level of quality they demand for themselves and their patrons? Try finding THAT at a chain coffee-house. In fact, try comparing the coffee, espresso, cafe-au-lait, and cappuccino. Here there are different blends chosen specifically for each type. The owner Vince is always available, and often whom you'll greet at the front counter. Checkout is fast, so there's really no way for me to justify a long line at a fast-food joint when I can be in-and-out of Cafe 906 in minutes with a stunningly floofey (yeah, floofey) blueberry croissant and a ham sandwich to save for my lunch, along with a better cuppa java than I'm gonna find elsewhere. Then there are the little things. I like that I get a small balsamic salad with my Quiche Lorraine -- the perfect accouterment at any time of day. Vincent chooses the nicest, sweet/tart balanced Roma tomatoes to top super-fresh greens, and there is not overkill in the Balsamic vinaigrette, or in anything, really. These are the French classics, and they are not going to be screwed up by absurd experimentation with "nouvelle" spicing. It's nice to be able to trust that you're getting what you're craving. That's my experience here, every time. Not in the mood for quiche? The traditional French quickies like Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame are properly seasoned, grill-toasted to perfection, filled with the beloved gooey French cheese, and served piping hot. You can't miss with an omelette filled with anything they have in-house you desire, and they have a plethora of vegetable fillings and select, high-quality meats. Yes, the menu items are in French, on a big chalkboard, but nothing is hard to figure out, and they're usually explained right on the same board. And they're on that board because some of the variations differ by day, week, and season according to what's fresh. That's the way you want it. And while the names are in French (though I think we can all figure out what an "omelette" is) there is no need for labeling items obscurely to fool you into thinking you're somewhere oh-la-la-fancieeee. You're at somewhere much more wonderful. In keeping with the theme of simplicity and tradition and perfect spicing/sweetening, even the little things matter -- the tart fillings have just the right amount of sugar in the custard so you're not overwhelmed by the goo, and you get the full sweetness of the fruit, and the flakiness of the crust to come through. The chocolate souffle doesn't kill with chocolate, but it's not over-egged either. It floats on your tongue. Want some wine or Champagne with your late (or early!) breakfast or lunch? It's here. The selection is small but well-chosen to accent the lighter foods here. On weekend mornings, the place hops, but still serves quickly. I recommend the weekdays when there is a good crowd, but more choice in the perfect table at which to enjoy yourself. This place is a treasure, but shouldn't be reserved a rare treat. Good pricing lets you visit often and a great, new(-ish) location affords superb outdoor dining and a good parking situation. read more

I was disappointed. I got the eggs with potato pancakes. I got a cappuccino and one eclair. Food was okay but pricy. Nothing especial. Coffee was horrible, I don't think they have proper barista there and the coffee tasted really bad. I'm a big coffee fan and I know the difference between good and bad coffee and this one is for sure at the bottom of my list. The eclair was good. The pricing is skewed. For Orlando, this bakery should be at least two $. It's not cheap. Could have more variety with the pastry selection. Although, the flan and crepe were both tasty. Stopped in here with some friends after a bike/run around lake Baldwin. Super cute coffee shop, with indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are fair ($4 for lattes, etc..). I can only comment on the drinks, as that's all we purchased. Between the 3 of us, we had 2 ice chai tea lattes with a shot of espresso (dirty chai), and an iced coffee with almond milk, honey and cinnamon. All drinks came out quickly and were delicious. A friend proposed we meet here and it was new to me. I read the reviews and it seemed like there were some negative ones, so I had some doubts. DON'T BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!! This little place is terrific. I have had croissants made in France and shipped as dough that I baked in my oven. The croissant I had here was just as good. I bought six to take home, and frozen and microwaved were excellent. But if you want several, make sure you order ahead. These are made fresh and no extras for selling unless you get there shortly before close. I didn't have anything else on the menu, but any baker who can do a croissant this well surely has the chops to do anything else on his menu. I did a take-out version and just sat at a table outside, so there was no delay at all in the delivery of the food. Bravi, tutti! read more
