We decided to eat at Cafe Acadiana for lunch last week. Wasn't sure what to expect since we live in Fairhope where quality restaurants abound. But we had heard great things and Cajun Cuisine is my favorite. The inside is more like an old school, diner type of atmosphere and decor. But the food wasn't....holy cow. I ordered the Seafood Gumbo and Flounder Ponchartrain and both dishes were amazing. The Flounder was breaded and cooked to perfection, and the Gumbo is authentic Louisiana style brown roux and it was loaded with delicious seafood. The Shrimp and Crawfish Cream Sauce is amazing and with the light breading on the Flounder, made for a superior dining experience. If you can get over to SilverHill...right down Hwy 104, you will be amazed at what Cafe Acadiana is serving up!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Our first time here & we were extremely pleased! Between the two of us we ordered the fried catfish lunch special with okra as the side, and a shrimp appetizer that was tossed in their sweet chili sauce and onion rings. Everything was excellent!! Clean atmosphere, friendly/helpful service. We will definitely be back to try something else!

don't forget to check the specials as you enter the door! i had the flounder creole green beans and jambalaya . it was absolutely one of the best meals i have had in the area. he had the crawfish etouffee with green beans and said it was delicious. located in an old house the interior is rather simple but you aren't in for a long relaxing experience, there's no bar. service is fast and efficient. a FANTASTIC meal, the type of place you get in and out.

So far the only actual gumbo I've had in Alabama is at Tamara's Downtown in Fairhope, AL. I ordered the fried grouper finger and shrimp basket which was decent tasting but a smaller portion size. On another visit I sampled their cheeseburger and it had decent sized meat patty on it with some good flavors. I also had the key lime pie for dessert which was alright and pretty par for the course and very similar to most of the other key lime pies I've had in the area. The service was alright but they did a take a bit longer to refill my iced tea than I would have preferred. Overall this is a cool spot to visit and they have a nice variety of options although I can't recommend the "gumbo" Alabama soup.

From there, the blackened grouper--the catch of the day--was the star of the evening: perfectly cooked with a satisfying char and depth of flavor, though unevenly seasoned. It was accompanied by creamy cheese grits that leaned a bit mild and fried okra that, while slightly soft, could have used a touch more seasoning as well. A side of hush puppies was promised but never made it to the table--though admittedly, I rarely indulge unless they're something truly special. The atmosphere was relaxed and almost serene, with only a couple of other tables occupied during my visit, though carry-out orders seemed steady. I chose to sit on the patio, where the weather was ideal and the newly installed fly-deterrent fans did an admirable job keeping the table clear--if not entirely keeping the flies from me instead. Still, the food remained untouched by them, which I consider a success. Service was warm and attentive throughout, rounding out a pleasant evening. While a few dishes could have been elevated with bolder seasoning, the overall experience was delightful, and I left satisfied.

Next she had the pork chop with peach and bacon chutney over pimento cheese grits. The Pork chop was perfect. The chutney, one bite was very heavy on the vinegar.
