Cafe Acadiana is a little off the beaten path but it was well worth the drive. My wife and I went there recently for a late lunch. The lunch menu is a bit limited compared to the dinner menu but there were still plenty of choices. Everything we tried was delicious. The chef obviously has the touch with seafood. Perfectly prepared and everything we had tasted super fresh. The flounder Ponchatrain was crazy good. The cajun cream sauce smothering the fish was the best we have ever had. The shrimp Opelousas was equally good, as were the boudin balls. Sides were great. One note..they do not serve alcohol although they said we were welcome to bring our own next time. All in all, the best meal we had on our beach vacation. We can't wait to go back, but next time for dinner. Go check them out, you will not be disappointed. read more

What a hidden gym this place is. Off the beaten path we stumbled upon this restaurant after shopping over in Silverhill. When you pull up, you are expecting average at best. Man was I wrong. It was so good. My daughter asked the other day when we were going back. We live 40 mins away but we will be going back. Everything was very good and well seasoned. Friendly staff and very quaint. Prices were very reasonable for food portions and value. Can't wait to go back. read more

This is a rock solid restaurant choice that always delivers. I took a business partner there one night, and they were busy as always. We were seated right away and had a our drinks in no time. My associate ordered the shrimp and oysters (fried) and he said they were out of this world. I had a grouper special, which was also fantastic with s really great sauce on top. We both had the salad bar as well, which always has a really good selection of fresh vegetables. I have had this restaurant on my list for years. I crave excellent Cajun food. I had heard great things. For the value, speed, quality and temperature of my food this was excellent. Restaurant reminded me of a classic local country diner. Everyone knew each other and were regulars. I was introduced to the owner by a regular. Owner was very attentive, before during and after my meal. It was Friday at noon and the place was hopping. I was seated rather quickly. I ordered the Flounder Shrimp creole special. For $12 it was a great value. Just right portions served with steamed veggies and great grits. I was offered cole slaw "while I waited". My food was out in under 10 minutes. First time in the restaurant, and I can't say enough positive things. The food was tremendous, service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was wonderful. We had flounder, a seafood burrito (you have to try it to believe it), and gumbo, among other great entrees. Overall, I'm completely sold -- these people do a great job. We drove 50 miles from Pensacola for a birthday dinner, and you can believe I'll be back as often as possible. Absolutely worth the drive. And if you miss out on the fried okra, you've really fouled up! read more

This place was recommended by locals as having great food. We went on a Friday about 5:00 and it was empty. We were sat in the corner. The waitress was prompt but we needed more time with the menu. We asked her what was really good and she said the crab cakes so we got one as an appetizer. When she demonstrated how big it was her hands really over exaggerated its size. While it was good and full of crab meat, it was not large or like any crab cake I've ever seen. (I'm from Maryland.) And not worth $13. I finally decided on the choose 2 with etoufée and fried shrimp with fries. I first thought I wanted onion rings and asked if they made their own. Nope. Fried okra? Nope. Hushpuppies? Nope. So I just got the fries. And they were the best thing on the plate. The etoufée was tasty but there wasn't much of it. I was shocked at the small portion. The fried shrimp were good but since the other fried things aren't made fresh I didn't know about them. I didn't have the guts to ask. The fries were frozen of course but seasoned and fried well. All in all the meal was not worth the money. We go to the area regularly to visit family but I don't think we'll bother to come back to this restaurant. Also they charge 3% to use a credit card so stop at the ATM before you go. The ambiance was that of a simple restaurant in a country town with city prices. It was clean but nothing fancy. read more

We got there around 6pm and waited about 5 minutes for a table. The waitress was there immediately asking for our drink order. We ordered our dinner once the drinks came and our food was delivered shortly thereafter. Since this was our first visit and none of us sure about "Cajun" we ordered "safely." I had the grilled shrimp with a stuffed potato, hubby ordered the shrimp poor boy, and son had the mahi mahi poor boy. All three dishes were delicious! Both sandwiches were over loaded and the accompanying lettuce, tomato, and onion slices were fresh. The only complaint was the fries could have been cooked a bit longer. Didn't make it here last time we were in town. So made a special trip with some friends who live in Spanish Fort. Small, but clean, little restaurant. FYI; They have a BYOB policy. Wish we would have seen that on the website prior to our arrival. Seated right away, drink orders taken. They don't serve any kind of alcohol. Waiter rushed us a bit. We ordered appetizers, the infamous Boudin balls and the shrimp Opelousas. We had barely placed our appetizer order when waiter came for our main course order. Boudin balls were great. The shrimp Opelousas were good. They were more like a chinese sweet and sour dish though. Too sweet for a couple in our party. Had barely started eating the appetizers when our meals came. Table was too small for all the food. When our meal came, I requested more water and hubby requested some lemon for his catfish. Waiter took my water glass and was gone. Had to flag him down to get my water and the lemons. Hubby ordered the fried catfish, his side of choice French fries. First piece he tried was a bit mushy, but the rest were fine. The other couple both ordered the crawfish platter. It consisted of crawfish étouffée, fried crawfish, crawfish and okra gumbo and a sweet and spicy crawfish pie. One ordered fries, the other ordered fried okra as their sides. Lots of food, they both took some home. Neither of them were very impressed with the pie thing. I ordered the grilled shrimp, my side being red beans and rice. Very good. All entree items also came with salad bar and a couple of hush puppies. The salad bar is small but fresh. If in the area I would probably stop in again. Not so for my honey, not his kind of food. The service was a bit rushed, our waiter a bit distracted. Having grown up in Southeast Louisiana, this is one of the best Cajun/Creole restaurants around. Very unassuming location and building, the food is worthy of white linen tablecloth fine dining, disguised as a neighborhood, come as you are atmosphere. Creative and traditional Cajun/Creole cuisine done well. Service is friendly and food does not take long to make it to your table. I'll add this to my summer dinner option to avoid the beach crowd elsewhere. read more

I've tried really hard, but I couldn't find anything serious to complain about. - Crawfish etouffee. Simply the best etouffee I've tried in my life. Posh restaurants in New Orleans that serve this dish for twice the price should die of shame. - Very interesting combination of Mahi fillet with crawfish sauce. One side of it was oversalted, but it was tolerably and the fish was still good. - Tender and not that greasy fried shrimp and catfish. Onion rings were a bit too oily for me, but my wife has really enjoyed it. - Delicious pecan pie. Not a crispy east coast style with bourbon, this one was closer to the Trader Joe's version, but I would've ordered another slice if I wasn't completely full at that time. - Even coffee was good, which is actually a surprise. If you're visiting Mobile or driving towards the Orange Beach, this is definitely a great place for lunch. read more

5 stars for this lovely little cafe with a very friendly and attentive staff. We really appreciated that the owner stopped by our table for a quick chat making us feel welcome. I had the burger which was cooked just right and really very good quality meat, loved it! My husband had the shrimp po boy sandwich which was generous in shrimp and the size of the sandwich was more than he could eat. My daughter had the fried shrimp and really enjoyed it leaving her wanting more. Except for the coleslaw being on the salty side our overall dining experience was very good. We appreciated the cafe's attention to the Covid-19 safety precautions. Could be a bit more distancing of some of the tables closer to the front door. However, the signs and availability of hand sanitizer made us feel a bit more comfortable being in a small dining area. It's a nice place in the nice community of Silverhill that we recently discovered. We will be back. read more

I came over from the Pensacola area to visit my sister and brother-in-law . They took me here for lunch for my birthday ..I had the shrimp and fish combo with red beans and rice on the side. Everything came out fresh and hot. Had a couple of hush puppies on the plate. Coleslaw was pretty good. The whole meal was delicious. My sister had the same thing with green beans and roasted potatoes on the side. I had one of her roasted potatoes. I would definitely get that next time ....my brother-in-law had the fried shrimp. He enjoyed his meal. Our waitress was very attentive, and was very busy... she offered me a free piece of Keylime pie for my birthday ....that was above and beyond. highly recommend this place. read more

This sweet restaurant is in the Lovely Silver Hill area on 104 on the north side of Hwy. It's gray and has a big sign. This menu is amazing ! The seafood is the real deal Cajun dream. Everything is delicious. Burgers onion rings fries but I love the Crab cake Ponchartrain! I think you are cheating yourself if you don't go here. It loud for my hearing aid go before 3 or 4 it fills up and the waitresses are so nice and sooo busy. But they still check on you constantly and pick up dishes so fast it's nice to tell them everything is perfect. They work hard at making you happy. They give you Slaw with crackers you can save for your dinner or have that little snack before dinner arrives. I loved everything I eat more veggies than fries or potatoes of any kind and that's perfect cause they make everything taste great. Great chef or chefs. Just a real treat. Not cheap on dinner meals but well deserved praises for their dinners. Their rolls are very nice hushpuppies are so good with corn inside. Going back soon. Such a treasure! read more
