You can't go wrong with anything here. Steak, crawfish, wings, etc everything is good. This is the kind of place you go to for drinks and drinking foods. It gets busy here in the evenings and especially on game days.

The flavors were . It was busy on sunday, but there was ample seating. We weren't super hungry, so we didn't order much, but everything was so good. The lao sausages were nicely textured and a flavor explosion perfectly spicy, sweet and savory. We saw some other tables with the sizzling steak and it smelled amazing, so definitely coming back to try that. The place is definitely a good spot to go with a group, so you can try as many dishes as possible! Theres also ample parking since they have a parking lot.

Still one of my go to spot for a night of drinking and eating in OC, whether it's the night out with the boys, or group with girls and boys. The foods still delicious, must order of course is the artist ribeye steak, the shrimp and crawfish, and bot chien with lap xuong to name a few items. The place does get pack at night on the weekends, so be sure to come early to secure s tableX All the waitresses here are nice, fun, and great customers service. Shoutout to Nikki and Jaylene for always taking care of us.

My mom and aunts always talk about Artist and I finally got to go and it did not disappoint. Sooo good, I went twice in a month. Going during a game is kinda crazy, but the next time we went it was calmer and we sat outside (a little chilly though). Here's what we ordered: Artist Steak: delicious!! I love steak on a hot plate and the flavor is fantastic. I also like the fries. So good. Yellowtail: or is it Hamachi? Sooo good. The fish is so soft and I love how it's like a DIY handroll. We ordered two for four people, so you can tell we really liked this. Xoi Chien: I always love a xoi chien and the lap xuong is on point! The dipping sauce is good too. Fried tofu: fried to perfection and was delicious as well if you love tofu. Coconut shrimp: not the best dish but still really good! Crawfish fried rice: so flavorful and delicious. Ties everything together. Crawfish: sooo good and flavorful! I usually don't eat crawfish but the flavor here is bomb. Drooling as I write this review. Can't wait to come back!

So keep in mind that this spot is like a Vietnamese bar, meaning it's loud, they serve food and alcohol, and smoking is allowed in the outdoor patio seating area. Hard to chat since it's loud. We went on a Saturday evening around 5pm. A lot of their dishes I would consider "Vietnamese bar food." On that note.. the food is soo good!! I tried several dishes and loved all of them! The steak is really flavorful and cooked exactly the way we asked (medium rare). We also tried their basil clams, banh bot chien with eggs and Chinese sausage, surf clam salad, chicken wings (I wouldn't get this again it was on the drier side), and goat curry. Service was good the ladies were nice and gave us recommendations too. I def would get their food again but prob take out and eat at home :)

A very lively restaurant with amazing food and vibes! I came on a Saturday night and was quoted a wait of 30-45 minutes which ended up being ~50 minutes. Service: 5/5. The workers were very nice and accommodating. Artist steak: 5/5. So good!! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portion size was also very generous. My party ended up ordering another steak. Crawfish: 5/5. My favorite dish!! I would come back just for this. Fries: 5/5. Scallops: 4/5. Fried intestines: 4/5 Soft shell crab: 4.5/5 Chicken wings: 5/5 Bot chien: 4/5 Overall, a great place to eat with friends. The atmosphere is very loud and lively so it's good for a night out.

Very casual spot, and loud so be prepared for that if you weren't expecting it. The food is great and came out so quickly! I like that there is a mix of beef, chicken, and seafood. A bit of everything. Service was great, friendly and warm. Steak was cooked perfectly, and had great flavor! We will be back.

I've been going to Artist for the last three decades, and let me tell you, it's been my favorite spot since the '90s. So when my teenage daughter casually mentions she wants balut, I thought, "Why not?"--and next thing you know, I'm hauling all three teenage girls here before the place even opens to make sure it's still family-friendly. Cuz... the later it gets, the rowdier it gets. If you know what I mean..... The food? Never disappoints. It's like Vietnamese street food, but without the risk of getting hit by a motorbike. I feel so proud knowing I'm raising these kids right, introducing them to the culinary delights of balut and all the deliciousness this place has to offer. Love the food. Love the super casual vibe. The service is fast. It just reminds me of going to a house party in the 90s. Good wholesome fun! Hahaha

We met up with family at their usual restaurant they go. It's right off a busy street, with patio seating and shared parking with other businesses. Small restaurant, can accommodate large and small groups. Vibe reminds me of a dive bar, they only have beer and wine. The menu isn't available on the website, however my friend has been there and recommended the steak and crawfish. When we arrived, those items were ordered for the table. Delicious by the way. The servers knew my uncle, he's a regular there and introduced us to them. Every entree comes with salad, dressing is light vinegarette.

    Chicken Gizzard
    Jessica D.

Great spot for Vietnamese bar food! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside because the weather was so nice that day. The workers were so sweet and kept asking if we wanted them to put up an umbrella for us. I really enjoyed their chicken gizzard, it was so crispy and had lots of meat. Perfect restaurant for sharing dishes.

came in on saturday around 2pm and it was quite empty since they were just opening. i had the bo luc lac and my boyfriend had the crawfish. both dishes were good but not necessarily something i would return for. i believe market price on crawfish was currently around $30/lb. the restaurant space is not that large. i was with a party of 12 and it was quite crowded.

FOUND BUG AFTER WE ATE ALL OUR CRAWFISH

Only come here if you want to eat bugs in your crawfish. This place is extremely unsanitary and dirty. Never coming back to this place.

    Beetle

Most unsanitary place ever.... There was a whole hairy leg beetle the size of a nickel in our crawfish AFTER we had ate it. How does a whole beetle go through washing crawfish to be in a pot without being noticed?! Never coming back... don't recommend to anyone !!

Ambiance is spectacular - interior is absolutely beautiful and they have amazing attention to details. Restrooms were very clean and nice too. Location is perfect - on Brookhurst in a great Vietnamese plaza off McFadden with tons of other great businesses around as well. Came here on Sunday of Labor Day weekend for dinner with a friend. We conveniently arrived around 430pm, and they surprisingly have Happy Hour on weekends as well. We ordered the Deep-fried salmon bellies, Oxtail tacos, Garlic noodles, Oysters, and later Whole Mussels Skillet all from their Happy Hour menu. We were pretty excited since they looked like really good deals. Salmon bellies, oxtail tacos, and Whole Mussels Skillet were all good. Garlic noodles - bland, needs more seasoning and greens with them such as cilantro and green onions, more cheese - something. Service - a young boy and girl, Mason and another girl helping us were very sweet. And to what made you guys lose 3 stars - "Oyster (Oyster minimum order is 1 dozen) $2" My friend and I thought this was some Happy Hour only special promo, so cool. I asked and they're just raw oysters - honestly they weren't that good, should've been cooked and seasoned in some way. Basically they didn't have to try much for these, besides ensuring they're clean and safe for consumption, but I thought it was a good deal so worth a shot trying. Then I got the bill and was like WTF? And the worse part was the lady's attitude about it, saying how it's common sense (ie you're stupid for not understanding). The obvious right way to write that is "Platter of a Dozen Oysters $24 and $2 for each additional oyster", not "Oyster (minimum a dozen) $2" - WTF, and she acted like I'm the first to call her out on that. Said she can't do anything, it's obvious, but sure she can tell someone to make a note to update the menu and seemed to roll her eyes. Mason, the young server was nice and understanding, but I couldn't stand the basic Vietnamese woman with HEAVY makeup working at the front. My friend I had dinner with found her extremely rude too. Would I come back? Not likely anymore. Would I recommend them? If you're willing to pay for nice ambiance, decent food, but GOD-AWFUL SERVICE, then be my guest. As a Vietnamese person myself, I'm ashamed of people like these for perpetuating the cheapskate Vietnamese stereotype.

Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. The only thing that could've made it better is if my oldest eating buddy (and ex) could've miraculously gotten over her condition and joined me. That's the dream.
