    Thai Sausage
    Elijah T.

Thai Avenue in Garden Grove is your typical run-of-the-mill Thai restaurant, nothing too fancy, just a solid spot for some classic Thai food. I came here with three friends, and even though they technically open at 11:30 AM, we showed up around 12 PM, so they were a bit late in getting things going. We ordered the wet pad Thai, the crying tiger steak, and the Thai sausage. The pad Thai was flavorful and had just the right amount of sauce, wet, but not soggy. The crying tiger steak was cooked well despite being on the thinner side, surprisingly tender, soft, and flavorful. The Thai sausage was also great, not totally sure what meat was inside, but it was delicious enough to not care. It seemed like it was pan-fried, because the outside had a crispy, bubbly texture, while the inside stayed piping hot. The interior is simple and nothing out of the ordinary, similar to most Thai spots. It's located in a strip mall, so while there's a dedicated parking lot, it's a shared space with other restaurants, which means it can fill up depending on when you go, but overall, not too bad.

I came here with a group of friends. This spot was pretty basic as not much stood out for me. We ordered multiple dishes to share family style. Some dishes we ordered: Tom Yum Soup - not as flavorful as I expected : ( Khao Soi (a northern thai curry noodle dish) - Very delicious! Love their egg noodles and coconut curry broth! Pad Thai - I was a bit disappointed as the noodles used were thin and not the "typical flat noodles" Pad See Yew - pretty good with beef Chicken Satay - a bit on the dryer side/ some skewers were more dry than others. Crying Tiger - this was okay/ decent Thai Fried Rice - pretty good with chicken Mango Sticky Rice - their coconut sticky rice was good! mangos were good but some pieces were brown I would come back for the Khao Soi : ) Service was good. Our server checked in and made sure waters were filled.

Service was pretty quick. Came in around 810pm and sat down right away. Ordered our food and got it within probably less than 20 minutes. Ordered a spicy beef salad mild, pad see ew, and khao soi spicy, and sticky rice. All of the food was good. The lettuce on the bottom was soak with the sauce so it could be very flavorful and the meat was a bit dry but overall good. Pad see ew and the khao soi was good. Enough flavor and not too flavorful

I think that the food is ok. The calamari was flavorless but there was definitely a crunch to it. Service was friendly. Nice little family restaurant.

Basic Thai food. Good for lunch. Friendly service. Lots of seating. Not too busy. In a plaza with many other restaurants on the corner of Brookhurst & Garden Grove Blvd. I don't remember anything that stood out but if I'm in the area I would try them again.

lI was in the plaza to pick up an order from another restaurant when a sudden craving for mango sticky rice brought me to Thai Avenue. They were about to close in 15 minutes, but I decided to pop in and ask if the kitchen could still prepare a to-go order or if it was too late. Initially, they let me know the kitchen had already closed, so I thanked them and left. But to my surprise, one of the workers ran after me and invited me back--they went out of their way to accommodate my last-minute request, which was so thoughtful and kind. The sticky rice and mango were tasty, though the coconut sauce was a bit chunky. It smelled fine, but the texture wasn't ideal. Even so, I appreciated the effort, and the flavors didn't disappoint. I'd definitely be willing to try their other dishes if I'm in the area again--especially with such kind service.

We paid so much money and they never made our food! I had to wait 15-20 min extra and they wouldn't even give me free eggrolls!

So my organization made an order online for this restaurant at 9:30am and the time to pick up was 11:45 am. I get to the place to Thai Avenue and the food has not been made. Their "excuse" was that they never received the order so it's "not their fault" well- it is! Because this is YOUR restaurant business and you need to keep track of ALL orders... And the guy in the front tells me- "well the order previous to ours was received" so that made no sense! I was asked to wait 15-20 min- it was a big order I mean, we paid over $140 dollars! And now I need to wait an extra time?? You gotta be kidding! I asked for free eggrolls- just ONE order and the guy had to call his owner and the owner would t give that to me- she only said ONE... ONE Thai tea.... Yes because your Thai Tea is sooo delicious! Um... no- I wanted to egg rolls and they did not give it to me. So wow!! -100 points/stars for your "amazing!" Customer service! Your mistake or not! We are paying your restaurant so much money and I am waiting EXTRA time and you won't even give us free egg rolls! Ooh well- I hope many people see this and can agree because this is ridiculous and now you've lost a customer! An organization customer at that! Screw you all at Thai Avenue- especially the manager! Sorry- NOT sorry!

Wow, we really enjoyed our Thai lunch today. Everything, Kor Moo Yang, som tum, beef boat noodle and basil fried rice. Staff were super friendly and came by often to check on us. Ambiance is cozy, comfortable and relaxing restaurant. Highly recommended as a Go To Place for Thai food! We'll definite come back soon to try other dishes.

I have to say the Boat Noodle Soup was delicious. As I expected, it's creamy because of the beef blood and savory flavors. Lao papaya salad is the classic knife chopped in to shreds has more texture. I love the Thai egg plant and green beans in the salad

Best Thai food in Garden Grove! These were made in traditional home style, so this is authentic as you can get. Everything was so flavorful and so delicious. Their papaya salad is hands down one of the best papaya salad I've tried!

That said, the salmon and especially the yellowtail were outstanding, it was fresh, flavorful, and everyone enjoyed it. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the shrimp or scallop next time. Currently most items are frozen but I hope they can offer some fresh options to better enjoy day off and smaller quantities (half pounds) so I can buy a little bit of everything. If that bit of consistency doesn't speak volumes I don't know what will. Oc & Lau specializes in Vietnamese street food and essentially works in family style dining. Everything is brought out in platters & large bowls where food is shared amongst the table. The menu is filled with Vietnamese salads, snails, assortment of seafoods, rice, noodles, and hotpot. Vegetarian options are available. As if the menu isn't extensive enough, there is a whole section of drinks- alcoholic & non alcoholic. Ingredients are always fresh and the quality is on point. My complaints stem from the restaurant ALWAYS being "sold out" of the razor clams and the stir fried basil clams coming out soupy and off tasting to what they normally should taste like. Not too big of a deal once you factor in all the other great qualities Oc & Lau has. The pricing is costly and the portions can be small depending on what you are ordering. Things add up quite quickly since my family and I eat to get stuffed. Lmao. 5/5 stars because a trip to LA isn't a trip to LA without visiting O&L!!! I'll forever be a fan!!

Louisiana Creole Approved!!!!…read more Wow, just wow. There were a few other things I was not able to photograph because everyone was so excited about the food it got snatched up. Lol My mother was in town, and I told her about a place that has creole cuisine. Being born and raised in Louisiana, my mom has a very strong opinion on southern cooking. She ordered a cup of a the seafood gumbo and was blown away. My mom has never liked any restaurants gumbo outside of the south. However, this fine establishment was the first to win her seal of approval. Everything was well seasoned and absolutely divine. We ordered several entrées like the gumbo, steamed oysters, French bread and butter, kids chicken tenders, H0use, lobster, blackened catfish, beignets, margarita, strawberry lemonade and a Moscow mule. The food was great. The service was good. The atmosphere was peaceful. There were so many great menu items. It was hard to choose so I guess that means we'll have to continue to keep going back so we can try everything.

My wife also has a little phrase she likes to use on Friday mornings as we wrap up a busy week of work, family, home projects, and other commitments. She will inevitably turn to me, smile, and say, "Where are you taking me for dinner tonight?" Sometimes we enjoy returning to those familiar places where you can always count on a good meal, attentive service, and a comfortable setting. But this Friday, I was thinking, maybe not. How about a place with a menu that was a little unique to the Southern California community, but not necessarily international fare? That's when I came across Roux Seafood Kitchen. I always check the interior and exterior photos before trying a new restaurant because my wife notices things that I would never even think about or care about. For example, she immediately noticed the oyster shells as we walked to the door and the double glass doors as we left the restaurant. Both earned her seal of approval. The dining room and bar area were orderly, classy, and appeared clean and polished. This place was going to make the grade. I made reservations through the website's chat feature and received a prompt response, so we were set for the evening. We were greeted warmly at the door and escorted to a table with a "Reserved" sign on it. A corner booth by the window--perfect. The service was attentive throughout the evening. At least four different servers stopped by to check on us during the meal, and whenever we requested something, it arrived quickly. Every member of the staff was pleasant, engaging, and personable. As many other reviewers have noted, there are similarities to New Orleans-style cuisine. We, too, were reminded of the flavors and Cajun-inspired epicurean dining experiences we've enjoyed in the past. We topped off the evening with warm, sweet beignets covered in powdered sugar. It was a wonderful dinner and a pleasant evening, with just a little taste of Bourbon Street on Beach Boulevard.
