My friends was craving for some house specials lobster and I was craving for honey walnut shrimp. We came around 5pm on a sunday before the dinner rush. A party of 3 we ordered 5 dishes the main 2 dish we came for 1. House specials lobster with noodles 5/5 The house special sauce for the lobster is so good. , the lobster was meaty, noodles smothered in that house special sauce, delicious. 2. Honey Walnut Shrimp 6/5. Ive been craving for this dish for the longest time and it didn't disappoint. The walnut shrimp was fried golden brown delicious, plump shrimp, the sauce was perfect and not overly drenched. The candied walnut nice crunch and sweetness. Everything was seasoned perfectly. My only critiques about the food are very small. I wish the fried tofu was cut in half into smaller cubes. Since it was soft tofu, it was hard to pick up and dip and the sauce. I'd also like more breading to keep the tofu sturdy. I also personally would've liked more breading/crispies on the shrimp. Sadly learned that this wonderful little restaurant is now gone forever. I shook hands with the owner for the last time at the door. I have enjoyed the food from this restaurant for well over the last 25 + years. Like losing an old friend. He suggested that we go to Seafood Cove II which we did . HUMONGOUS menu, they so so many dishes here. Good, authentic food, but the service could be improved. The food came out hot and fresh, and the portions were HUGE. The downside was the service when it was time to pay the bill. When one person's card declined, our server announced the balance on the card out loud in an annoyed tone instead of discreetly letting us know the payment didn't process. We used a different card, but I wish the situation was handled more respectfully. Some of the interior was a bit worn down but it didn't impact my experience. There is plenty of seating here and we were seated right away. The parking lot is very small. I recommend parking on the street, across the street, or in the neighborhood. read more

A place of nostalgia & home to many core memories! My family and I used to come here all the time for birthdays and celebratory dinners, and it was also our go-to spot for morning dim sum back in the day. We don't come here for dim sum as much anymore since their second location opened, but I still think the dinner here is better. The menu is massive, and if I'm honest, everything you get, new or familiar, is likely going to be a banger. We decided at the last minute to go here for lunch on a Sunday. It was packed and there was a little bit of a wait but worth it. The service was good. As mentioned earlier, they were very busy so the waiter let us know that we should put our food orders in right away and not to add dishes later. The wait staff was very nice to us. The restaurant has a Peking duck special. It was okay but a lot of food for only around $40! The prices on their dishes were very reasonable. Six of us and the bill came out to about $20/person only for a delicious lunch. And portions were big too. We had leftovers. We will definitely return. read more

I really liked: House Special Lobster Peking Duck I liked: Shrimp W/ Green Beans The lobster is decent #goodeats. You order it by the pound and it comes out in their house special sauce. Just keep in mind the shell adds a lot to the weight, so it's worth slightly over ordering. The Peking duck is a highlight. You get the usual setup, but they also bring out a separate plate with all the insides, which is a big plus if you like getting the full value of the duck. The shrimp is solid overall, but the green beans are just ok and don't really stand out. Service here is very much that unapologetically Asian style. It can feel curt and you might need to actively flag someone down if you need something. It's not inattentive so much as it is hands-off unless you ask. If you speak Vietnamese or Chinese, it definitely helps, but either way you'll get taken care of. Ambiance is pretty no-frills. It's not the cleanest spot and tables can get crowded, especially with larger family-style meals. If you need more space or a fresh plate, just ask and they'll help accommodate. Every dish tasted fresh, high-quality, and full of flavor. You can tell the food is made fresh and the ingredients are really good. we came here for a family meal and decided to go all out with the lobster definitely didn't expect it to be that big. it had to be around 20 lbs, which was kind of insane in the best way. super fresh, great texture, and honestly the highlight of the whole meal. the rest of the food was solid too, so overall we were enjoying everything. the only thing that threw me off a bit was when i went to the bathroom and noticed live lobsters being kept in cardboard boxes right near the restroom area. it didn't completely ruin the experience for me, but it was a little surprising to see, especially since that area can get high traffic and not the cleanest. it just raised a small concern about food handling and cleanliness. that said, the meal itself was really good and the lobster especially stood out and stir fried clams. i'd still come back, but i hope they consider storing seafood in a more appropriate space just for peace of mind. read more

They have a long history of serving family style meals for special occasions. Our two waiters have been there over 25 years. Unfortunately the place is tired. The paint has faded. Every corner is used for storage. The bathroom is dirty and parts are broken. This would be fine if the food was exceptional but it was just ok. The house special scallops were tiny bay scallops double battered to make them appear large, the lobster at $20 per lb would be a good price if the lobster was prepared in a way to protect the delicate meat but ours was way overcooked. So, what a nice surprise, while being in Westminster I finally came across the original Seafood Cove restaurant which is not quite the same as the one located in Garden Grove. I was surprised that the place was nearly completely empty during lunch hour on a Friday afternoon since the other location is always packed with a ton of people waiting to get inside. I actually loved the fact that the place was empty, and I was seated immediately and was served hot tea, steamed rice, ice-water plus a delicious cup of soup, all compliments of the house. Unlike the Seafood Cove 2, this place doesn't serve any Dim Sum which was perfectly fine with me. I splurge today and ordered the house special lobster which I've been craving for the last two years and couldn't have been any happier with my lunch choice. The lobster was fresh and very tasty, and I had no trouble gobble the whole thing down in what appeared a new record time lol. A big shout-out to the owner, which frequently made sure that everything was fine and truly cared about my well being. Another nice surprise was the free desert which also was out of this world. I can't believe I've never left a review for this place. My family has been coming here for decades. My grandparents loved the authentic food, their favorite was the tofu. It has a crispy outer shell and soft interior, super flavorful sauce. We always order the kung pao chicken, Fried rice, walnut shrimp, and whole fried fish. I love that they always bring out hot tea and soup. The dessert is also complimentary. It's normally like a tapioca rice soup thing. I'm shocked that over all this place has a 3.8 rating, the only thing i can think of is that the interior is old and dated, but the food is 10/10. Consistent and not too oily. Christmas Day with the family is rare because I'm usually working. This year I was blessed to be able to join them for an annual Christmas Day restaurant lunch. Upon it entering it was busy that's when you know that the restaurant has good food. My aunt & cousins with their families in tow were already eating so I am not sure what the wait time was. The table set up was clean. The place smelled great like delicious garlic that was not overwhelming. The food was absolutely amazing as it tasted as good as it looked. Every dish had just the right amount of sweet, salt & mouth feel. Portions were decent as well. The only thing that was not appetizing was the manner some of the servers threw it on the table. *POOF* then no where to be seen. We asked for sugar for the tea & one of the servers looked upset. Then they tossed it on the table as well. Then when it was time to bring the check The server repeatedly came to check on it. As it is trying to share a bill with several people is hard because you have to gather it together. The server kept waving the bill in front of everybody at the table and kept on trying to push it at somebody to pay it. I was craving authentic Chinese food, something sit-down, not fast food like Panda Express so this seemed like a good alternative. I ordered beef and broccoli and orange chicken. When I arrived, the place was lively about five or six tables were full, but there were at least eight waitresses bustling around, keeping things moving quickly. The staff were super attentive they kept refilling my water and worked really fast. The restaurant has an old-school charm everything feels like it's been there for years, with rusty chairs, tables, and curtains, and that familiar aroma of a long-standing spot. The waitress was super nice, brought me a welcome jasmine tea, which was delicious, and I had a side of pork fried rice. The beef and broccoli and orange chicken were decent and big portions, and I appreciated the value but compared to Panda Express, I think I'd just go back to Panda. Seafood Cove 2 was always so crowded and on week end, the wait can be up to 1 hour so I thought we should try Seafood Cove1. I used to live in Garden Grove and at that time there was no SC2 we used to go here all the time, the only other choice was Seafood Paradise across the street. We were excited to see the price of lobster advertised right at the entrance $32.99 a lb, we were seated right away. I have to give them credit for their honesty, they brought the lobster out for us to look, it was definitely 2.5 lbs. 1) The lobster seemed to be an old lobster, the shell was so so thick, it did not taste juicy or delicious like what I had in Maine, the brown sauce thrown on top was tasteless w just a hint of butter, the flambé taste was missing and THERE WAS NO GARLIC! Just hot jalapenos. I was so disappointed. 2.5 stars. The lobster at Capital seafood was delicious but a rip off price $38.99, the dinner could cost close to $200 w tips, tax, soup, it was insane. 2) Hot and sour soup was good 3.5 stars 3) Beef chow mein, same brown sauce, so tasteless, I asked for Sriracha sauce, they brought out the Sriracha made in China, not the rooster Huy Fong made in USA by the VN dude, the sauce tasted like a fermented paste and I hate all fermented stuff in Korean, VN or Chinese cuisine so I had to ditch it, what a waste. 1 star. 4) What was 4 stars were free hot tea, they had the door open, it was drafty and cold so hot tea and after dinner real mung bean dessert were appreciated. Today I called and asked if they had sweet and sour fish, they said no only hot and sour w fish sauce, Yelp review said they had it, also on the menu, hot w nuoc mam is not my kind of fish, they used to have the sweet and sour fish, they don't have fried chicken either, no longer available as it's a hassle, most restaurants all stopped having this, the chicken was usually marinated and it was so delicious. Unfortunately Furiwa, Royal Capital and Seafood World all went under, if you want good Chinese food, you'd have to go to Los Angeles/New York Chinatown or Hong Kong, it's not good in Beijing or Singapore either. I went here with a friend for their lunch hour and we barely bothered to read the menu. Our individual families have been coming here for decades, and we know what we like. We ordered the kung pao chicken and salt & pepper spare ribs. Tried and true orders. We didn't even bother with a vegetable dish. Both delicious, if not a little salty- but eaten with plain white rice and it's fine. The waiter never brought us water or tea so we had to ask. We got a nice bowl of dessert pudding.
