We figured we'd try Cafe Bee because it was new and close to the apartment. I don't recall what the space was before but the cafe itself is warm and inviting. The cafe is clearly intent on getting involved in the health food market but also sticking a foot into international food. I appreciate the creative attempt to master both but I think it is a bit difficult to straddle both lines. It made the menu feel like it lacked a focus. There is a board with all the coffee drinks - iced or hot, teas, smoothies and all sorts of other options. There were so many that I can't wait to try but I settled on a green tea frappe. I'm a sucker for matcha and I wasn't disappointed. Mom got a cappuccino but, apparently, the barista (or whatever her title was), didn't realize that you have to fill it to the top with steamed milk. It was practically a shot of cappuccino and not worth it at all. The menu was laminated with spelling errors. For example, it says "scrumbled eggs." Unless they have a whole new style, that is meant to say scrambled. Also, even the word, tahini was misspelled. It bothers me greatly that this wouldn't be spellchecked. How can you laminate something with errors? Then again, I am a bibliophile who cringes at spelling errors so my annoyance is, of course, heightened. We ordered a caesar salad with tuna on top and the avocado bahn mi. I am a huge fan of International cuisine and I was excited to see their take on it. Instead of the traditional mayo on a bahn mi, their chef but a spicy aioli. The cashier said it wasn't terribly spicy and I said that sounded good. The aioli took over all the delicate flavors to the bahn mi to the point where all I could taste was spice. I had to ask for a side of something to cool it down. I ended up getting a ginger dressing that tamed it. I think the aioli is a mistake but others might like it. I would've done away with it entirely for the ginger dressing. If I did order it again, I'd make that change. Mom's caesar salad with tuna had the tahini dressing on the side. The tuna itself had a strange flavor. I picked up lemon and some sort of oil but I didn't find it tempting at all. The tahini dressing also was a bit of an odd choice. The creaminess of tahini was lost and the flavor didn't pair well with the salad. We both agreed that we wouldn't order it again. Both meals were served with a side of the lentil soup. It had pico de gallo and avocado added to it and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely order the soup again. I'd come back here, if nothing else, for the various drink options. I liked how close it is to the apartment and I liked my matcha frappe. I liked the soup and I liked the bahn mi... but I still think they are trying to do too much. read more

The manger threatened me with violence after they screwed up my delivery order twice. I personally went down to pick up my order. The manager said he sent the delivery guy our already (two hours after I ordered). Manager began telling the other employees I was "giving him shit" and that I was acting pissy. I told him I wasn't angry yet just irritated he said "let's go outside and do something about it then" I asked to speak to a manager he then told me he was the manager and was sick of working 3 jobs. It was all very dramatic. Got my order, food was actually good. But obviously will never eat there again. read more

Let me explain the 2 star review. I called prior to ordering online. They said that the burger came with salad or scalloped potatoes. I ordered online and requested scalloped potatoes. The burger came (over cooked but still VERY tasty) and with a salad, grrrrrr. I called, they apologized and said that they would send me an order of scalloped potatoes. However, that the potatoes would take about 30 minutes because they only have one delivery guy. I was fine with that. When the potatoes came, it was a different delivery guy from the first time (so they have more than one) and when i opened the box, it was roasted potatoes, not scalloped potatoes. I hope i twas just a rough day for them because the food was good, just a malfunction after malfunction. read more

This place has no integrity and doesn't know how to run a business. I bought 2 groupons to use here. The first time I went I allegedly ordered one wrong thing from the menu and though I complied with the terms written on the groupon the manager wouldn't take it. A few months later I called to make a reservation and mentioned the groupon. The woman I spoke to said they stopped taking them despite the fact it was still valid. Oh man, rough customer experience with this one for delivery. To summarize: if you have a spare 2 hours, don't mind some light verbal abuse, and enjoy your hot breakfast lukewarm, then please roll the dice and order from Cafe Bee! Me and the girlfriend ordered from Cafe Bee on a Sunday morning for breakfast. This was the 4th time we have ordered from them, and it had been spotty in the past. At about 20 after the delivery time, we called the restaurant to see where the food was and was warned about system issues and somehow they couldn't contact the deliveryman (???). At 30 after the delivery time, we get a call from an international number (???), then a RANDOM WOMAN ON THE STREET whose phone the deliveryman borrowed (???) and then our doorman saying they didn't have an Apt number (???). When the driver got to our door a good 45 minutes after the quoted time we saw that Cafe Bee had GIVEN HIM THE WRONG ADDRESS. BUT WAIT THERES MORE!! We called requesting a refund from them, and they said that they would not refund unless we waited for ANOTHER deliveryman and gave back the food in its entirety. Not wanting to wait another 2 hours for them to figure that process out, we pushed for a refund with the cashier working the phone. While getting passed around the phone, my girlfriend was call both "crazy" and a "good talker" while being passed between cashiers (No comment from me on the validity of that statement, but I guess those balance out?). Long story short: They refused to let us talk to the manager because they were "very busy"and said that they could not refund. The only issue was that WE COULD HEAR THE MANAGER TELL THE CASHIER TO SAY THIS!!! Please invest in mute buttons from the money gained from delivery fees! Bright note: Seamless refunded our order after going back to them twice (no thanks to Cafe Bee) To summarize: The worst customer experience I've had with delivery. It's a shame too, because the food isn't bad when delivered on time and without incident. read more

You wanna get your food 2 hours late and then have the manager and delivery guy argue with you. Look no further! Cafe Bee! Food was sub par but the worst part of this was the service. Not everything on this food menu is perfect (really a 3.5 rating), but the fact that you get soup with every sandwich or salad is def worth the round up. We like the cobb salad and the tuna sandwich. Walked past Cafe Bee and decided I should give it a try. This cafe is the type of cafe you would see in Asia, coffee shop with lots of different types of food served. They have breakfast pretty much all day. Foods are light and healthy. It's like a Japanese or Taiwanese fusion cafe. Prices are reasonable for the portion. And great matcha lattes! I'd really like to give Cafe Bee 5 stars but I'm a little disappointed. We ordered the avocado toast with fried egg for breakfast. In EVERY place I've ever ordered avocado toast (in NYC, NJ, CT, etc) or even just plain toast, it comes in a pair; 2 slices, 2 pieces, whatever you want to call it. Cafe Bee sent ONE piece of avocado toast; 1 piece of bread with avocado with an egg. And for $10? For $10, I should be receiving 2 pieces of toast with the avocado and an egg or two at that. Cafe Bee has delicious food and I order from them almost weekly -- but last night's experience was so unacceptable it is basically a dealbreaker. Long story short, we placed an order on seamless and they FAKED THE ORDER. Pretended to make it, pretended to drop it off (selected "delivered" about a half hour before we got impatient and checked the tracking). We called the restaurant and the person who answered told us the delivery guy was on the way...waited another hour...he never came. I've had some shitty delivery experiences but never had someone straight up lie like that. If you can manage to get your food it's great, but we ended up having to order from another place at 10pm after being tricked into thinking the order was coming. read more

Haven't had the coffee, but the food is pretty good and they delivery in the morning, which is great. I've enjoyed the sandwiches. If there's one thing I wish they had, it's a savory oatmeal dish. Amazing little cafe! We are all the way from Australia and ordered the steak for dinner, honestly the best meal we have eaten here! Was beautiful and massive meal! This facility is still open, however should not be as this was the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. I placed a small seamless order @ 11 am. @ 12 noon I called in to check on it. I was a given a driver's number to call. The driver had no idea what I was talking about. When calling back the restaurant I was told a new order was on its way and we went over the details. By now it's 12:30. At 12:45 I received a notification from seamless saying the order was canceled so I quickly called the restaurant. They said they didn't know why but they were preparing the order regardless and it was on its way. By 1:45 pm when I realized I was lied to I called back the restaurant 10 x from my cell and no one answered. When dialing from my bf's cell it went through immediately and so we became aware that they were deliberately ignoring my calls. When we finally got hold of them we were told the delivery was not coming bc it was canceled. Unprofessional, liars, rude, inaccurate, and a waste of time. Had they just said they couldn't accommodate the order for whatever reason that would have saved us the headache. Good luck...you'll need it! read more

Here's the problem. The decor such as it is is mind blowingly sterile and unwelcoming. The lighting is harsh and the white stained wood tables look terrible, NOTHING about this place looks warm or welcoming. This place has rude and awful employees who won't help you or let you speak to their manager. I order from them quite a bit, always ordering salads and never having a problem. Today I ordered a salad and what I got was slimy wilted greens. I called to get a refund and was told their manager only comes once every month or two and that they wouldn't give me any contact info for him. Furthermore, I was told by Sharon (rudest of them all) that i needed to prove that my salad was wilted and slimy by giving it back to the because their chef doesn't believe me. When i told them I had to leave my house for an appt, they said I could leave it outside my front door. This is NYC, that's insane. Then she tried to tell seamless that she would t refund me because I ate it. I didn't eat the salad, it came with a soup and grilled chicken on the side and I ate some of that because I couldn't eat the salad. Ridiculous. read more

Cafe Bee has delicious and unique food. The breakfast sandwiches are great. I love the ham and egg sandwich. Much better than what U find at the typical corner deli. A steaming fresh fried egg on ham, kale, Swiss cheese on a delicious roll. Outstanding! Also check out the chorizo, egg, avocado sandwich. I have tried the pasta, crab cake, nova salmon terrine, soups - all very nice! This place also has a nice peaceful vibe and delicious coffee. I highly recommend U check this place out. read more

I only gave this place 1 star because I couldn't review without giving at least one star. I ordered a Tuna Sandwich and sadly got food poisoning, laid me up for an entire week. I am a small business owner and being as sick as I was, I was unable to work. I cannot afford to be out of commission for an entire week. I soon as I was well enough, I called the Cafe, at first the employee was not very friendly and she would not let me speak to the manager, she took my information and said the manager would call me back. The manager did not call me back, the same employee called me back and said that after looking through their records they noticed that I was a "regular" customer, like that makes a difference. COCKROACH IN MY COFFEE! I went here to get a coffee and it tasted weird so I opened the lid and found a huge, black cockroach! I immediately returned to the cafe to let them know. Worst service and attitude I have experienced in a very long time. Waited 35 minutes for 2 turkey sandwiches and a gazpacho to go- nothing that needed cooking. After 20 minutes I asked for my money back, and they literally ignored me at the counter. Then, when I finally opened the bag at home they had forgotten the gazpacho, and the sandwiches had some ingredients I had asked to be left off. They are in over their heads. I was happy with my experience and will return. Food was ready for after I ordered online and arrived for pick-up. Staff and manager/owner were very friendly and the interior appreared to be very neat and clean. The Cobb salad was excellent -- quality ingredients and very fresh. Sometimes it's easy to get a lot more lettuce than other ingredients at other places, but this salad was generous with non-lettuce veggies. The lentil soup was delicious as well and tasted freshly made. I was looking for something quick and healthy for dinner on a cold Sunday and found it at Cafe Bee.
