So, this place is GREAT for getting coffee with a friend. Their coffee drinks are always amazing and cost the same as Starbucks but are a million times better and made with real ingredients instead of the fake flavors. It's super comfortable and pretty too. My only issue is the food. It is over priced, not many options, and not really worth it. I have gotten an egg sandwich two times and it was $7 and I don't eat meat but I still have to pay for it even though I ask them to not put it on (they don't have any vegetarian options on the menu either which would be easy to add by the way, hint hint Café Bella ;) If the sandwich came with like a bag of chips or some fruit or something I would say it's reasonable but literally an egg, cheese, and bagel for $7 is too pricey in my opinion. So I say go there for the drinks, but save your money for food somewhere else. read more

This is good coffee house that prides itself on using local and organic ingredients in their food! When I first went here, I told the person at the counter that it was my first time there. He enthusiastically gave me the low down on what they are like and what they provide! The atmosphere is good as well. They have regulars as well. When I was there, a KNITTING CLUB was happy working away at a table and smiling. The re-fills are $1 which caught me off guard but that's OK because it's a small business! The biggest mistake I made was reading the reviews in the "Yelp Sort" rather than chronologically sorted. I missed the recent reviews which discussed the slow and distracted service, the mediocre food and the astronomically high prices. It was also my fault that I had an expectation that a coffee shop could serve good and fast and reasonably priced food. So I take my wife and son to a really great new park just down Westside Blvd. We are hungry so I pull out the Yelp app and search for sandwich shops. This one pops up as one of the best "sandwich" places in Rio Rancho. We get there, two people drinking coffee and one couple waiting to pick up their order. As we wait for someone to acknowledge us and take our order I have more than enough time to take my son to the bathroom then wait about 10 minutes for the blessed event to occur. The young male taking my order appears confused by what I'm asking for, such as "are there onions on the street tacos?". I finally place my order for a sandwich (pretty much the only one they offer), the street tacos, a double shot of espresso and a Danish plus two cups of sink water. I was absolutely stunned by the $31 charge. I should have said forget it and left at that point, but I figured it was just an off day....wrong! They made my espresso, but it DID NOT look like a double shot, over charged my for the extra shot (later refunded), then made me a second one of the same size. After a considerable amount of time (please note they do note have an actual kitchen, all is done on a George Forman type grill, toaster and microwave but I assume they have a food license) they gave my wife her street tacos (with onions). I then reminded them about my sandwich, which they quickly heated up. It was too spicy for my son and quite small. As we were eating this rather meager meal I was reminded that we never got our tap water. At this point I was done...The woman behind the counter offered to load up a gift card for my hassle, but I didn't want to have to ever come back. If you are looking for a cup of coffee and you are not in a terrible hurry and have recently secured a bank loan, then this is the place for you. I had absolutely horrible service here. I didn't hear my name called when my coffee was done so the barista, apparently also the general manager, brings it over and says "look she's still not paying attention". She sets the coffee down and I apologized for not hearing her. She said "it's because you're not listening I've called you twice." When I contacted the company through FB they had already gotten her side of the story (interesting) and simply said, "We don't offer table service, best of luck." And in the middle of me trying to tell the story they simply blocked me on FB messenger. I used no foul or hurtful language I was just trying to let them know that this was horrible. UNREAL. I was literally sitting right by where the cash register is, she could have said excuse me your coffee is ready. Pretty simple solution to a simple problem. I'll NEVER go back. I had the bacon sriracha breakfast sandwich, and it was delicious! It wasn't overwhelmingly spicy which was nice. For a drink, I was planning on getting my usual vanilla latte, but then I saw they have a chocolate peanut butter mocha and I had to try it. I've rarely seen a coffee shop pair peanut butter with drinks before and this drink was super scrumptious. If you're passing through Albuquerque or are a local looking for a new coffee spot, definitely give this place a shot! read more

Adorable little coffee shop located near the edge of rio rancho and albuquerque. They have an assortment of pastries, some breakfast and lunch food on the menu, frozen drinks and of course a variety of coffee and also a nice place to enjoy your food and/or beverage of choice. I ordered the sriacha bacon and egg sandwich and an orange soda. The sandwich was delicious especially the bread that it came on. I also liked that it had fresh spinach to top it off, always a fan of veggies. The orange soda was nearly $3 which was a shocker to me. It was in a can and not something I could easily get a refill of. My friend had a cinammon roll and white chocolate mocha. The cinammon roll was not the greatest, also we noticed it had the least amount of icing out of all the rolls in the display. Of course this was after a few bites. So my friend asked if he could have more icing added on and the barista noted that they did not have any icing on hand. The white chocolate mocha was similar in taste to other coffee shops so I wont comment on the coffee until I have tried it for myself. Overall our bill was $18 for a breakfast sandwich, soda in a can, large coffee and a cinammon roll. I felt that certain items were overpriced and not worth it such as the soda, but i think the bacon sandwich was spot on. I want to come back and try some of their frozen smoothies but i'll save this place for when i feel like splurging as I feel it is a bit pricy. read more

Meh... I was very excited to try this place out based on the fact that it's in a great location and that it offers lunch items to go along with my cup of coffee. The atmosphere is really neat but the benches gave me splinters and my legs hit the bottom of the table. The chairs are metal and are the opposite of the benches and are too low to the ground. The service i received was mediocre and the food was flat. I ordered the sirracha breakfast sammie and my bf ordered the carne sammie. My sammie had a piping hot omlet-like patty atop a bed of mixed greens which wilted and became slimy. My bf had next to no protein on his sandwich but a surplus of sun dried tomato spread. Pretty disappointing considering we paid an arm and a leg. Our coffee was nothing out of the ordinary but still priced extraordinarily. I'm glad that we gave it a shot but i'm sad to say we won't be going back for coffee and breakfast. read more

From out of town and looking online for a breakfast place...love to do "local" so ventured here. We were the only ones in the place so asked at the counter as to how things "worked" there. My hubby and I were both starved so were looking for some food as well as coffee. This is not the place to get a satisfying breakfast. Hubby liked his coffee and breakfast sandwich (Bacon Sriracha) but I didn't like mine at all...it was supposed to be a bagel/egg/cheese sandwich and it was 3/4 bread (versus sandwich ingredients), dry, the egg overcooked, and the cheese was a unique cheese spread that I loved, but there wasn't enough of it! I also drink plain old decaf coffee, but like it strong. I had to get a pour-over b/c there was no brewed decaf available. What I got was like brown water so they re-made it, using 4 times (I think that's what he told me) the amount of grounds than the first time. This was drinkable. What bothered me the most was the lecture I got about their beans and methods--made me feel stupid (which I am not) and a bother to them as a customer (my patronage should be equal to anyone's!). Plus, I thought the prices were too high for what we got! I gave it two stars b/c my husband liked it okay...needless to say, I'll not go back when I return to Albuquerque. read more

Wow, Café Bella Coffee is the real deal. My wife stumbled across this place online while looking for coffee shops near where we live. I am so glad she found Café Bella! We have been there 4 times since discovering the café in January. I have tried the Red Chile coffee and the Café Con Leche. My favorite by far is the Café Con Leche. I didn't believe a medium roast coffee could be so smooth and have so much flavor! My wife really likes the White Chocolate Cinnamon Latte as well. As far as food goes I've tried the Carne Adovada Street Tacos and well, it is some of the best carne I have ever tasted! I has a really good home made flavor and a bit of a bite too. We have tried other coffee shops in the Abq/RR/Bernalillo area including Satellite's, Pinon, Bad Ass and of course Starbucks. Café Bella Coffee is by far the best in terms of flavor and customer service. Marie is the manager and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the coffees offered. Not only that, she is very friendly too! Marie makes all the coffee from scratch and "with love" as she always says. The day I ordered the Red Chile coffee she gave my wife and I a complimentary Café Con Leche to try. Smart move because now im hooked! I cant stop ordering it! I usually get their daily special panini sandwich which never disappoints. The panini sandwich I order this afternoon was exceptional. I didn't look at the menu to see what was in it when I order it but the red chili, peppers, onions, mushrooms along with the carne made me wanting more with each bite. One bad experience can ruin a good thing. I've been here 8-10 times cuz they're one of the only local coffee shops in Rio Rancho. I liked Cafe Bella's coffee, but their customer service today left a bad taste in my mouth. First, they made my friend stand at the counter for ~10 minutes while the young man (only one working the counter on a Sunday?!) made about 6 espresso drinks, including the one I had ordered. The chef couldn't be bothered to look up and acknowledge her. My drink was not great as it usually is, lacked some flavor and weak foam, probably cuz the young man making drinks was rushed. Second, we were sitting in the back against the wall and I was showing my friend a video on my phone - the chef came over in less than a minute and asked us to turn it down so it didn't disrupt. Ok, I get it, but it came across with a poorly veiled rude attitude. Sure the space is tall and empty, but they play music and have the ceiling fans on high speed which is why I had to turn up the volume in the first place. Third, I'll admit I have never tried their breakfast, but after watching it prepared today I definitely will not. Scrambled eggs on Costco bagels with some cream cheese and bacon is not worth what they're charging, and the chef cooks them one at a time which means slow food as well as slow coffee. Summary: sorely disappointed and probably will not return. read more

This used to be my favorite place in Albuquerque or Rio Rancho for espresso. That being said I don't go out very often anymore which made the last few times I treated myself to espresso so disappointing. The barista had scalded the milk badly both of the last times I came in resulting in a latte that was way to hot to enjoy and no texture to the milk below a tiny layer of persistant foam. This is far from worth upwards of $5 and is not the grade of coffee I remember. read more

My daughter and I discovered this cafe when we arrived early for our nail appointment next door. So we went in and had some hot chocolate. I thought it was so good, and I have been going back ever since. I like that you can relax and sit for awhile. Had the Smoked Carne Adovada Panini today and it was great. Want to try the salad next time I go or maybe the pumpkin loaf again. I would have to say the only thing that they need is some more padded seats for us older folks. Not to say that the two couches are doing a bad job, but padded chairs would be nice too. All in all I love this cafe for the relaxing atmosphere and their food and drinks. The owner there is very friendly and always a warm greeting. The coffee is pretty good. The food is a bit cheaper than flying star, and 30% or more tastier. Its open till early afternoon and has free WiFi. The only thing I don't like is that most of the chairs are hard and very few chairs with padding. read more

We live in Rio Rancho and tried Cafe Bella earlier this fall for an afternoon coffee. Coffee was very good. During that visit the owner told us about his menu of breakfast and lunch offerings. Definitely wanted to come back. So we went back this morning (12/28/13) for breakfast. We went back with our daughter and ordered 2 Savory Breakfast Sanwiches (6.75/ea), 1 bagel (2.50/ea) and 3 Ice Teas (4.75/ea) for a total of $35.49 with $3 tip. Wow...prices of the iced tea was shocking. After ordering our breakfast, our daughter asked for some butter for her bagel and the owner said that they "sell" their butter. My daughter was not willing to buy the butter. Overall, the food was very good, the overpriced tea was ok. Felt the service was lacking and the attitude towards my daughter was short sided because we were looking for a new "local" place for our family to hang out, eat and relax. During our stay at 9:30am there was only one other lady in the shop. My hope is that Cafe Bella will make some changes to their attitude towards customer service and become the place that Rio Ranchoans just love. read more

we were here over the weekend, it was our first time as we mentioned this to the girl up front she was very kind and explained the whole menu. the man behind her, eager to get our orders in, interrupted me with a rude attitude asking me what i meant by tall, as i was trying to order a latte. i used the word tall. wow! no need to be snarky. excuse me i am a frequent starbucks customer and i wanted to go outside the box and try something different, that is why i am here. the man which i later found out is the owner continued to belittle the rest of my family. How are we suppose to know what they call their regular coffee. Instead of calling out a medium mexican blend (or whatever they call their organic coffee) over and over and over again .we thought we grabbed the wrong order so simply took the coffee back to the bar, help a new customer out and explain!!!!! no need to belittle or talk down to a person. we are learning what you offer.. i've been here a few times, mostly for the second saturday poetry slams but never have i been so taken aback by the owner's behaviour. i ordered a tall and yes i said tall because, while i don't frequent starbucks often, i do stop by satellites and flying stars around town, while working, multiple times per a week and their "smalls" are called "talls" also but this is apparently personally offensive to the owner so he corrected me (he trains his staff to correct customers, too, but they're much more pleasant about it). i proceeded to order a "small white peppermint latte" because he must also refuse to call them mochas since, i figured, mocha=chocolate and white chocolate isn't, technically, chocolate. however, he still corrected me again. twice. but i refused to say "white CHOCOLATE peppermint latte" because what else would i have meant by asking for a white peppermint latte? really? i also added a kid's hot chocolate and he verified that i wanted it at a "kid temp" yet it was hotter than my beverage, and when it eventually cooled off enough to taste, i realized it was actually burnt. the milk tasted so scalded that the chocolate flavor was almost undetectable (and no whipped cream!?! on a kid's drink i wouldn't have thought we'd have to ask for whipped cream, but anyway...) a few minutes after our drinks were cool enough to sip my son realized that my cup was leaking for the bottom. i should have just asked for another cup but the counter person offered to make me a new drink. it was worse than the first one in terms of flavor...where the first one was light on both the sweet taste of white chocolate and peppermint flavor, i didn't mind, but the second one almost tasted like a plain latte, with no discernible amount of peppermint or sweetness at all but i was so irritated by the entire experience that i didn't bother to go back a third time to correct it. i will return for the poetry and other events but i'll stick to a plain cup o' joe or water, but gawd forbid if i forget to say small instead of tall and the owner bites me head off again...word of advice: it's a losing battle, bro. you'd probably feel better, have better customer interactions, and be less stressed out if you took some deep breaths once in a while, meditated maybe, and stopped treating your paying customers (you know, the people responsible for your livelihood) like crap as some sort of personal education mission because it's not really effective. read more
