Cafe Capri's pizza is excellent, but do yourself a favor and order it to-go since the dine-in experience at Capri leaves a lot to be desired. My wife and I had dinner here Saturday night in their severely dated and worn-out dining room. The seats of our booth were dirty and torn up. The waiter was pleasant but very abrupt. I was very annoyed and surprised that he snatched the still half-full bread basket from the table well before any food came out, without asking us if we were done with it! My pizza and wife's pasta were tasty and the portions are very generous and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the service was unprofessional and not well timed, as our food arrived much too quickly after our salads, which we were not able to finish without letting our dinner get cold. The strangest thing of all, however, are the candles on the tables featuring a large crucifix! I chose to remove the electric flame and turn the glass around so we didn't have a flickering cross in front of us all night, which would have made me very uncomfortable. Came here for a quick bite on a Friday night. The place is great for families. We ordered fried calamari, a North End style pizza, an Italian calzone, and a Greek salad with steak tips. The food was mediocre at best. The pizza was extremely soggy, while the calzone was extremely salty. My favorite part of the whole meal was the bread and butter. The service was mediocre as well. They seemed short handed. The poor waitress was running around, while it was difficult to flag her down to ask for water refill, to ask for the check. read more

I figured i'd make it simple and just rate certain categories on the restaurant. Decor/Look/Cleanliness: 1- this place needs a serious upgrade in the look department. They had 3 tvs going, one was a flat screen, the other 2 were 25" tube tvs, broken mirrors, old crusty booths. Its make-over time... Service-2- My salad was forgotten and we were neglected for 20 minutes while the waitress did her post closing cleaning duties (it was about 9pm) I'd give her a 1, but she was personable and attentive until the end of the evening. The bus boy was wheeling around a cart where he dropped old plates into tubs. Sorry, but the last thing i want to see/hear when im eating is the clanking of plates in a bus pan. Food- 3- not terrible, my Ravioli was quite good, the Chicken Parm was eh. From reading the reviews, probably should have gotten a pizza. My wife's chicken dish needed some basic seasoning, it was quite bland. The portions were a good size and with some seasoning at home it was a fine lunch today. Price- 3- it was overpriced, but we had a buy one get one coupon so it was fine. Overall- 2. Good Luck...but you wont see us there again. read more

Capri is a great neighborhood pizzeria. I have been going here since I was a kid. The service is always quick and friendly. They have a large menu, including pizza, subs, calzones, pasta and salads. I love their pizza. They recently renovated which includes a bar with televisions, a padded booth and large fish tank. This is a family friendly restaurant so I mainly get takeout and can't review the dining room experience. But, I order takeout at least once per week and they are super fast! read more

I have loved this place for the last 25 years but will NEVER EVER order from them again. I got a grilled chicken salad with the house dressing last Friday night and have never been so sick in my life. I thought I had the flu within 4hours. I called to let them know...not once. Not twice but four times, each time someone telling me the owner would call me back. (All I wanted was $13 refund for the salad and to let them know!) NO ONE called me back and they assured me it was not food poisoning. Unacceptable. read more

Take-out review: When I'm feeling like a good bbq steak sub, I call this place. My husband loves their salads and when he's in a salad mood he'll drive past about 5 other similar restaurants just to have their house dressing. Prices seem a little steep, but you get a good amount of food (ie pasta)- easily split by two people (granted you're not stuffing your stomach). I'd prefer smaller portions for cheaper prices, but maybe in a perfect world. Service has always been quick and reliable. read more

I grew up eating at Capri as everyone else in Reading probably has. I remember this place being a lot better when I was younger. The quality of their food is pretty much the same but the service has dwindled and the prices have skyrocketed. My family has gone from eating here every Friday night to almost never. (Except for my dad; he loves their subs & paninis.) My past few dining experiences weren't too good here. The waitresses I've gotten have all seemed pretty snobby. The last one I had was friendly but she messed up my friends pizza and got extremely confused when we asked for two separate bills. I actually ordered a Caprilicious pizza and had it delivered ty my house last weekend. It took 45 minutes to arrive, was lukewarm, & the cheese and toppings were everywhere else but on the pizza. I would have complained if I hadn't been so hungry. I scraped the cheese from around the box and bam it still tasted good. I do like their pizza. It's greasy and a little overpriced but they always load up on the toppings. Stick to the take out. The people at the counter are always nice. Especially the guy who's always there around lunch time. read more

This is one, of those "Could Be Great" places that comes up short. It has a great bar area, great televisions, and has a good interior feel. It ends there though.. The pizza is very average at best. I don't think it is a personal preference thing either, it was bland and just not good. We ordered Chicken wings and they were probably the worst I have ever seen. It smelled like the oil was bad and that they had twice fried them. The 3 people in my party all said that they were inedible. I wish I could say they made up for it with great service but we had to go behind the bar ourselves to get crushed pepper and nobody came out to ask if we needed anything further. I would go back for a beer on tap but never to eat again. I would love to see something better out of this place because I live walking distance but you won't see me back in there. read more

I have been going to Capri for over 15 years and the food is just as delicious as when I was a little kid. Best pizza hands down in my opinion and I love how they have not changed the ingredients after all these years. The staff is always so friendly as well. I will continue to be a customer for life. I've been here once annnnd that was enough. (At least my stomach thinks so.) Bevs: The wine is ultra salty and the beer is...tepid. Food: My stomach was distended for about 24 hours after I polished off my panini, and my boyfriend spent some quality time with the porcelain bowl after finishing his. Decor/Ambience: There are grease stains on the booths, smudges on the cracked mirrors, and pasta beneath the table. All in All: A great opening scene to a slasher film. read more

I've been by this place several times now over the years and wanted to stop by and try their food. This place is sort of hidden in a small strip mall. I doesn't look like much from the outside, but it was recommended to me from a friend. I decided to give it a try for lunch and went with my husband. We were there around 11:15 a.m. and there only a few people there at the time, but it filled up quickly. My husband ordered the baked Haddock with fries and I had the eggplant parm. Both were very good and I noticed that the other customers' sandwiches were very large in size. Another thing I noticed was that one customer ordered a slice of pizza and the bottom was burnt and had it sent back. They did correct it without any further problems. Also, the inside of this place was in need of an updating which includes the bathrooms. I will go back and try some of the other offerings if in the neighborhood. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years. I love this place! They recently re-vamped the dining room, and have a stellar bar area, more TV's in this place than in most sports bars. My favorite meal here is the chicken, broccoli and ziti with cream sauce. It's so delicious, and the portion is huge so you can enjoy it for lunch the next day. My husband gets the tuscan wings, which are lemony and have rosemary on them, They grill them for a bit so they have a nice light crunch on the outside. Their pizza is the best in town, and don't forget the house dressing.....mmm house dressing. They have tons of beer on tap. $3 blue moons? Yes please! Their wines are NOT salty as that lady states below....noticed she likes to use unconventional adjectives to describe things, and are reasonably priced. And the staff have always treated me warmly not to mention some of them are hilarious. I'll be a regular here for the next 30 years! read more

We have gone to this restaurant for years! We eat there and often get take out. The food is god, love their pizza and Greek salad.

Ordered take out on a Friday night. The guy taking the order on the phone seemed he hated his job, but he estimated 30-45 min and we got the order in 30. Ordered large pizza (with $3 coupon they had online) with half tomato and green pepper and half bacon and ham. I think it was around $16bucks after tax. The pizza was very good, fresh tomatoes and the bacon literally was pieces of bacon cooked up rather than bacon bits you typically get. I would definitely order from here again. read more

We were there in person and told to wait while they re made entire order- did not offer any compensation; meanwhile offering customer on phone who received said order compensation. We've been to Capri a few times over the past few months and we like it a lot. Paninis are great for lunch here. Call your order in ahead of time because it can sometimes take 20 minutes or more if you just walk in and order at lunchtime. The cape codder is my favorite. Went here for dinner and had the Tuscan penne which was also very good. Only downfall was our waiter was more interested in the TV at the bar than his customers. But still had a good meal read more

Found this gem of a pizza place thanks to Portland Pie closing! I got the double dough pie and loved it. Buffalo wings were great too, loved the char from the grill on them. Sat at the bar and had a captain while waiting for my food. We will definitely come back !! read more

We've been getting take out from Cafe Capri for the last couple of years. A few times we have gone in to eat - they just re-did the bar area and the main restaurant area and it looks great! Nice big bar - lots of flat screens hanging if you want to catch a game. My husband always ordered their small pizzas and loves them. We always get a side of their AMAZING house dressing to dip the pizza in - TRY IT. So good. They should bottle that dressing & sell it. The big thing for me is they just started serving gluten free pizza! YAY. We used to order from other places in Reading to get my GF pizza, and then we'd get a regular pizza (plus dressing) here and now we can get both in one spot. It's good GF pizza, not the best I've ever had, but it's a good 10" size and their sauce is really good - I'll definitely keep getting it. Thanks for having GF pizza Capri! read more

I have gotten use to this. The last few times the counter staff have been rather rude. But tonight was the last straw. Cafe Capri is a solid, weeknight "I don't feel like cooking, let's go out" kind of place. The food is reliably tasty, but nothing extra special. The booths are a bit worn, but are comfy and homey. The waitresses are very friendly and have always aimed to please. Prices are good. I will say, my favorite is the grilled salmon salad. It is always cooked well, the baby greens are fresh, and the house dressing is so good, I take the rest of the little container home with me. This place feels like home and, also like home, it isn't the kind of place that wows. But sometimes it is exactly what I am looking for. Relaxing and tasty. read more

It's been our favorite lunch spot for years now. You can either get the bar service or go it alone at the booth side. Not nearly as crowded as the dinner rush. Two slize of Pizza lunch special plus drink is something around six bucks, salads are large and house dressing very tasty.wraps and pasta dishes will keep you coming back. OMG !! Went to Café Capri over the weekend to watch some football. Very impressed by the new bar area with about 9 jumbo TVs. Lots of beers on tap and had some of the best Tuscan wings which were great, but my friend put lemon on them without asking !!! Still great but love the natural flavor.
