The servers came to our table 5 times after just being handed our menu then after we order they didn't come to check on us at all. Everything is so cute and pink and I loved all the little details and the overall atmosphere. It was pretty busy when we went, but the staff was still extremely nice and welcoming. We asked if we could move over to the carousel seating when it became available and they were so sweet about accommodating us. Definitely made the experience even more fun because that area is seriously adorable! They even had face painting at the entrance! The service was also surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. And the food... sooo good!! I had the Birria Benedict, a pink latte, and an omelette and everything was 10/10. Been curious about this place since they opened and wanted to try it. Me and my friend went for breakfast today. We were both a bit disappointed. The indoor/outdoor/theme is an experience. It's extremely over the top with the theme and decorations. No expense was spared on the ambiance it seems. Unfortunately everything else was lacking. The menu is confusing and hectic. Breakfast is spread over both pages mixed in with everything else (salads, lunch). It's not cohesive. The prices are high, for example $18 for avocado toast. $9 for an espresso drink. I asked for one of the espresso drinks to be made with decaf and first of all the waiter didn't know if they had decaf, then he asked and confirmed that no, they didn't. So that immediately annoyed me. They have this huge, beautiful espresso machine and they can't use decaf beans ??? That's unacceptable IMO. I did get the regular iced matcha and it was ok. Realllly super sweet. The waiter (and other workers we interacted with) seemed annoyed to be at work , weren't very friendly or nice. He and one other never knew any answers to questions we asked him. Did they have decaf? Is the matcha sweetened? What kind of hot sauce did they have? Were the chips made in house?? All answered with "I don't know". He didn't seem too knowledgeable about anything and just annoyed we were even asking. The food was OK. I got chile relleno omelette, friend got huevos rancheros and tiramisu French toast. Sadly, The omelette and huevos rancheros came out lukewarm. The French toast was forgotten about. When we asked him where it was 20mins into our meal, he said they were working on it, proceeded to walk to the register thing and punch it in right there. Then we waited another 15 for them to actually make it. Instead of just saying omg I'm sorry I forgot , he acted like it was still being made. My friend said it wasn't very good. We saw them sing happy birthday to 2 separate people during our breakfast and it was a huge production, loud with lots going on and singing, brought out a huge piece of cake . That part was cute and fun to watch. I don't know I wanted to like the place but with the food being lukewarm and nothing really that delicious, and the service lacking in many ways , I don't know if I'd come back or recommend it. This place is going for "a vibe" and they sure achieved it. It's overwhelmingly pink like something out of Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory or Candyland. They really had no idea nor could answer any questions about the food they were serving. They forgot about my French toast and had to wait an additional 40mins for it to come out. No one came to check on us. I had to ask for coffee refill. Subpar service at best. I was watching the staff play with their smart phones and selfie sticks for internet content more than focusing on their paying customers. We sat under the blown speaker that was playing Rihanna's, "Umbrella" song on repeat. There was a birthday in the house and they do parade out clapping and singing Happy Birthday like Chevys. This new café in Santa Rosa is seriously giving Barbie Dreamhouse vibes It's brand new (brunch, lunch, and dinner spot), and the aesthetic is EVERYTHING--super cute, very pink, and honestly feels like stepping into every girl's little dream café. My friends wanted to try this place, so I came with them. The decor was definitely a bit over the top for my taste, but I can see why people like it. It's very colorful, Instagram-worthy, and great for taking pictures. The servers even wear pink vests, which fits the whole carousel theme. I originally wanted to order the Japanese pancakes, but after discussing my order, the server came back and told me the bakery wasn't open yet, so they couldn't make them. I ended up ordering the salmon Benedict instead. Unfortunately, I really didn't enjoy my meal. The "smoked salmon" turned out to be cooked salmon crumbles rather than traditional smoked salmon, which was very disappointing. The hollandaise sauce also wasn't very good. On the other hand, my friends enjoyed their meals. They ordered huevos rancheros, avocado toast and birria Benedict. The service was also disappointing. When I ordered the Japanese pancakes, the server repeatedly warned me that they would take 45-60 minutes to prepare and kept asking if I was sure I was okay with the wait. I told him several times that I was fine with it. He then turned to my friend and asked her the same question in Spanish, even though I was the one ordering. That made me feel uncomfortable because it felt like my order was being discussed with someone else instead of directly with me in a different language. In the end, it didn't matter anyway because he later returned and told me they couldn't make the pancakes since the bakery was closed. (Not sure they have a bakery?) Throughout the meal, he checked on our table several times. When speaking to my friend, he offered coffee refills, mimosas, and asked if she needed anything else in Spanish. With me, he would simply ask if everything was okay and start walking away. Each time, I had to stop him to ask for a coffee refill because it was never offered to me. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier, but I honestly didn't get that impression. He spoke English well, understood my order without any issues, brought me a to-go box when I asked, and even got me a small container for my leftover sauce. We didn't seem to have any communication problems. I may have just had an unfortunate experience, because my friend had great food and excellent service. This place is Disneyland's fever dream, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Reservations? Don't be cute. They don't take them, and honestly they don't need to -- swing by after 1:30pm and you'll walk right in like you own the place (you don't, the roses own the place, you're just visiting). The menu is deceptively massive for a spot that looks like it was decorated by a unicorn with a glue gun and a grudge against blank space. There's even a solid cocktail list, which feels almost transgressive amid all the pink. Staff are sharp -- all black uniforms with pink aprons, like a very polite, very committed goth-adjacent flower shop. We showed up at noon and the place was PACKED, mostly with tiny humans (overwhelmingly of the "future princess" demographic). This is ground zero for birthday parties -- the staff roams table to table singing to kids like a roaming pink-clad Greek chorus. Every water glass is pink. The utensils are gold-plated, because apparently at Cafe Carrusel even your fork deserves a crown. The straws are heart-shaped. I have never felt more like a Disney princess while eating my chicken sandwich. The food itself was legitimately good, the service solid, and the whole vibe screams "we are here to have an unreasonable amount of fun." Every single surface -- walls, ceiling, probably the bathroom grout -- is covered in roses, horses, and butterflies. It's a lot. It's also kind of great. Walking into this place you're immediately hit with why it exists, to be a place you can take pictures of to show people on social media you went to the cool new pink restaurant downtown. It's a bit astounding how this restaurant is almost a perfect metaphor for social media as a whole, beautiful and striking surface level appearance, but an ugly and cold experience when you peer deeper. They don't take reservations, at least that's what their social media commenter says. They don't have a phone number that works, that was verified first hand. We had to arrive at the restaurant at 7 am to request a reservation for a large party later in the day. Despite the above statement, a reservation was secured. We arrived at the time agreed upon and had to wait around 10 minutes for our table. Our hostess was incredibly unprofessional and was eager to tell us how none of this was her fault, deflecting and being rude for no real discernible reason. Immediately this was a red flag. I sat and wondered if this was just Denny's with a coat of pink paint and fake flowers. Just another Carrow's with pink waistcoats and charming decor. For what I ordered, that was certainly the case. For others, not so much. The stuffed French toast was soggy, undercooked, and completely flavorless. The tacos birrias were admittedly delicious and the consóme was very tasty as well. Our waiter, though dressed as if he was a dandy at Disneyland seemed to have his emotions trapped behind his pink waistcoat. He was quiet, stone faced, and lacked all the qualities of someone in the hospitality/service industry; kindness. We finished our meal and were conversing at our table. Some of us hadn't seen each other in months or even years. During our conversations, the busboy and waiter came up and actively started cleaning our tables, taking our glasses, plates, and drinks from us. If that doesn't scream, "get out," I don't know what does. Then as the perfect end to our experience, the owner came by. Dressed as if she just came from a shopping trip on Rodeo drive. She wore a hat the size of Saturn and had an unmistakable air of undeserved arrogance about her. She was so eager to not look at any of her customers or acknowledge their existence. It's painfully obvious that she wants to be someone along the lines of Lisa Vanderpump, but at least Lisa talks to customers and is a professional. This place exists for one reason. A singular reason shallow in its nature, and short in its lifespan. Just as so many people have had their fifteen minutes of fame, so too will cafe carrusel. read more

Then when I tried the pancakes when I came the second time, I was disappointed again. Dry, not much flavor and came with no syrup. I asked for it and they gave me side but I found it odd it didn't come with it. Everyone else said the food was fine. They had chilaquiles, avocado toast and pancakes. Will we return? The party of 5 was because we had guests from Sacramento and wanted them to try something new. I recently asked some friends visiting from New York if they wanted to try it for the experience, but after they checked reviews on here and their social media, they said a hard no. So, unless the food takes a sharp turn to delicious and not just ok. That's it for me. One other note, both times I went the speaker was broken. I was so excited to come to this restaurant. I will say the advertising is amazing. However, this place would be better suited to be a pop up event with photo ops. Having half of the place be where people could take photos and uncomfortable aesthetic chair was not very inviting. Unfortunately the food was also not great. I got chocolate chip pancakes and the pancakes themselves were like chocolate (maybe) and no chips, and rubbery :(. I got Oreo pancakes the next time and I quickly found out that's how all their pancakes come out-rubbery. The service itself was interesting because we had about 3 different waiters talk to us, and we had to ask for a check from a busser because our waiter was no where to be found. My sister and I were excited to try this restaurant for the first time, and we understand that busy restaurants can have longer wait times. However, after waiting over an hour, we still hadn't received our food while at least six other parties who arrived after us had already been served. When our food finally came out, it was cold and unfortunately not very good. I ordered the waffle Benedict, but the eggs were fully cooked instead of having runny yolks, which made the dish disappointing. After waiting so long, I expected the food to be fresh and prepared correctly. My sister ordered an omelet, but it was very thin, and the bread served with it wasn't even toasted. We also weren't offered any butter or jam for the bread, which was another small but noticeable disappointment. And the cherry on top was they do not offer decaf coffee at a brunch restaurant. The staff did give us 50% off our bill for the inconvenience, which we appreciated. However, the food quality was still disappointing, and overall the experience was not a great one. read more
