My husband and I have been here a few times and always enjoy coming back. We've only ever gotten coffee to go, but it's consistently great every time. While the café isn't officially pet friendly indoors, we've brought Luna inside with us just to place our order, and no one has ever said anything. If you're looking to sit and eat, there's a very cute (though small) porch area out front. Despite the limited seating, we've always managed to find an open spot during our visits. What I didn't realize until more recently is that they actually have a huge patio in the back as well. It's such a great space and gives you a lot more room to sit and relax. They even have a lift in the back area for disabled accessibility, which I thought was really great to see and not something you find everywhere. Ordered several pieces of cake and desserts. All tasted absolutely horrible. Cake was dry and stale, as if it was made weeks ago. The desserts really should have been discarded and not served. Very disappointed. Service could have been better. No way the staff didn't know how old the desserts were in the case. Cookie was okay, better than the desserts in the case. A little gem of a place located in historic old village section in Mt Pleasant. Breakfast and lunch is served here including delicious pastries cakes and cookies. Stopped in here for drinks, yes DRINKS, after a meal at Post House and was blown away by how incredible the vibes were!! They have a full blown bar and the man working said he made the best espresso martini so we had to try (it was phenomenal). It's just so cute and cozy inside and the perfect low key spot for whatever you are feeling: coffee, hot tea, pastries, wine, or cocktails! What a little gem of a find on Main Street in Old Village in Mount Pleasant. I was dying for a cup of coffee and a little snack, and I'm so glad I stumbled across this spot. Gala is a nice little oasis in a, well, another oasis called Old Village Mount Pleasant. It's the perfect spot to stop for a coffee and a pastry or cookie. This is a staple in Old Village that we have never stopped at until yesterday!! This is the most beautiful little place that includes areas on the porch to sit and enjoy your treats. We got there right before they closed and the staff was so friendly and did not rush us at all. They were so welcoming and offered to let us sit and enjoy, but we picked out our snacks and took them home so we didn't hold them up. My son picked out a piece of their Confetti Crumb cake, which was a giant slice, and a chocolate chip cookie for his dad. We got home and I tried the cake and it was so moist and delicious. We will never know how the chocolate chip cookie was... I think it may have fallen out of our cart on the way home so we will have to get another one next time! I truly wanted to like Gala Cafe, but our cake slices were terrible. Everything was dry, tasted old. It was extremely disappointing. Also, when someone orders coffee it should come with the cake, not 20 minutes after you served the cake. You know it was bad, when most of us left our cakes on the table. Sorry, management/staff should have known that the cakes served were old. They should have been pulled and thrown out. I say that as a bakery-pastry worker . Also, when someone enters the cafe, you should greet them...welcome to Gala Cafe. The 1st thing you shouldn't say is we close in 40 minutes. Charming place, nice ambiance...felt homey. Gala is located right in the center of Old Village for ultimate convenience. I love sitting in the courtyard on the side of the shop to enjoy my treats and coffee. Every drink and pastry item I have gotten here has been so tasty- I especially love the matcha and coffee cake. It was about 30 minutes before closing time & my friends and I wanted a quick night cap and dessert after our dinner. The service was so great here! Our bartender/server was so sweet and welcoming despite our late arrival. I got a spiced cider mule and it was delicious. For dessert I got the peanut butter mousse cake and it was heavenly. My friend that doesn't even like sweets kept taking bites of mine too! It was past closing by the time we were wrapping up and the bartender said we could take our time and stay. Found out about this place because my sister ordered a birthday cake a few months ago. Which was delicious. Brought my father there for lunch and was very impressed from front to back. Imagine two 300lb Italians walking into a bakery/bistro full of pastries and beautiful women of all ages as staff and customers. We didn't blend, but the staff made us feel welcome. Pleasant service, I think it was the manager Jackie, who pointed us to the other dining room with ample seating. There's also a patio, but it was midday and too hot. I've left so many reviews in the past for here but it's because I love it so much. I love sharing this spot with friends and family and recommending it to travelers. It's such a cute spot overall, the food never fails me. The coffee definitely never fails. The people there are sweet and passionate with you and event when they are busy they always know how to fix something. It's cute for pictures or just to have a coffee on their outdoor patio. Recently tried their egg sandwich it was so fluffy and the bread was yummy that came with. I always grab either a hot vanilla latte or an iced coffee. Everyone that I bring there love the atmosphere, it's so cute. Perfect spot to go work, or grab a coffee and explore old village. Disappointed to say this isn't a great spot to work from--despite what it could be. I called ahead to confirm the Wi-Fi was working, but when I arrived, it wasn't. I ordered a meal and coffee intending to get work done, only to realize I couldn't stay. This isn't the first time this has happened, and it's the reason I stopped coming in the past. The staff is lovely--this isn't a reflection on them. The issue lies with management. If you want to be an all-day café where people can eat, linger, and work, reliable Wi-Fi is non-negotiable. I didn't come just for takeout--I came to spend time here and be productive. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible. I only ordered one and my bill came to $31 which I was taken back, however, ended up being charged for 2 which they caught so we left with two.. so they were likely about $10/piece. Stopped by the new location of Gala Cafe & Bakery and what a charming delight! The area has some free parking spots along with boutiques and restaurants similar like the previous Avondale location. Each dessert item on display looks just as appetizing as ever and the food items sound stellar as well. There's ample seating inside and out with a bar top area too. You can dine-in or take-out. This time around I went with the ooey gooey fudge tart and my Dad tried the warm, crumbly apple tart. They have a variety of flavors for your lattes or espresso drinks and the one that sparked my interest the most was the brown sugar flavor. I love the presentation of the food. They don't just throw an item on a plate, they take the time to warm up your dish and add some garnishes and finishing touches. Staff is friendly, quick, and helpful. We were a fan of Gala since they were in West Ashley. This new establishment looks amazing and it's was in a quaint Mount Pleasant neighborhood. My wedding cake was ordered from here and it the coconut cake . It the best coconut cake we ever had! We love this near spot, my wife love how insta worthy this place is and the cake was Yums! My wife say this spot is perfect for a high tea. Parking could be a little hard as there is no designated parking area but the day we went new got street parking right away 1 mins walk away. Hidden little spot in Avondale. The staff was very friendly and helpful while decisions were made. Came here with a small group and were the only ones there. We all got desserts and drinks. It was all very tasty and adorable. Kinda feels like they try to do a lot of different things, which would be harder if more people arrived, but it was nice having our private staff. Haha!
