I think the only good things here are the breakfast dishes, Hamburgers and crepes. Stay away from everything else. I have been going here for over four years and was just here today. Decided to try their breakfast burrito that included their house potatoes,scrambled eggs, pico de gallo, guacamole and cheese that comes with a side of salsa. The burrito was good and you could taste every ingredient with every bite. It felt as if the ingredients they used were quality as they tasted pretty fresh. The potatoes had a good crisp on the outside and a good softness on the inside. The outside patio was nice as the restaurant is not on a very busy road, but still lively. read more

We live right around the corner from this little spot and sometimes the ease of walking makes us choose this place over heading into midtown. Most of the time when we go we love our experience and food but the last couple of times haven't been as good. I decided to try something new and splurge on the full salmon and it no joke tasted like garbage. I'm not sure if it was how it was supposed to taste but wow, I went in to ask for lemon because it was so bad. The mashed potatoes were so starchy you couldn't even scoop them up on your fork. They serve RAW BACON in their salads, but they'll try to convince you it is cooked. The manager told me this bacon was cooked in the oven and then on the grill just prior to being put in the salad. It would help to turn both oven and grill on prior to attempting to cook. This used to be a favorite place to go But not anymore! I ordered 2 salmon salads a crepe and a cookie, To GO. So you can imagine my reaction when I got home, not nearby, I was appalled in addition to feeling sick to my stomach from the thought of eating it. The cookie gets a 5 star, (evidently not prepared there) the crepe was just ok I'll be generous and give it a 3, but Check out this salad with RAW BACON, that's right, totally RAW!!! Do you see it? I give our last visit a 3.5. They lost out on the 1.5 because the Spicy Shrimp Fettuccini (a $22 dish) was bad. The sauce was watery not creamy. The sauce was just not correctly made. We would have returned this dish but we were hungry. It was edible for a growling stomach. He just ate the pasta and the prawns, but he left a lot of it behind (more than 50% of the portion was not consumed because the sauce was bad). Avoid this dish at all cost if you are expecting properly made sauce. Not worth the $22. As for the rest, the Italian deli sandwich was good and onion rings, soup and coffee. The ambiance of this place is always nice. Overall, I recommend this place, but like I said maybe avoid the Spicy Shrimp Fettuccini. There are better things on the menu. read more

Let me begin by saying, this place is expensive. I've been coming here for 10 years (I live across the street). Everything is about $20 and up now. But there is good food here and I will still keep frequenting this place. What I love - the croissants, the morning glory/ bun pastry, the chai lattes, the cake (fruit basket cake), the bolognaise pasta, the chicken strip sandwich, the cheeseburger, the mushroom burger, and they have the best fries. I like thin fries that are not very potatoey/ soft. The vibe is laid back and they always have the best music playing. The outdoor seating is very nice too. What could be better - breakfast is pretty bland, especially the country potatoes. I really wish they would do crispy hashbrowns, but alas, they do not. I forgot they were related to Crepeville (also Burgers and Brew) until I walked in and they have the same big ass chalkboard menu above the counter. My friend's girlfriend recommended their Impossible Burger but I didn't see that anywhere. Maybe it was a special? I didn't see any straight up vegan options so I just had coffee and a Sugar Plum muffin. It's a nice corner neighborhood restaurant in Curtis Park. Street Parking. I really want this cafe to be special. So much more. It has a lot of things going for it to be something special- that charming neighborhood cafe everyone loves to be at 24/7. Standard breakfast/brunch fair, Temple coffee & espresso bar, baked goods, et al. But there's a lot of work to do to get there to being "special." A good consultation would give them big gains. Starters... logistics and ordering. Usually slow, wonky, and lines that are unreasonably long. I almost think they'd do better with standard table service given the layout. Service - I don't know what it is, but it's rare to get good service here. Sometimes there are cashiers who are super helpful, but the servers and staff themselves look upset to be working. Scowls and negative or indifferent body language. I heard one serve tell a patron: "MOVE" when he was trying to get by. Who says that? The food itself: consult or hire a chef. Don't dress it up (that's what Dantorel's does well- sticks to basics) but consistency and quality is left to be desired. Decor - such a beautiful building. They finally got rid of the Crepeville chalkboard with 8,000 words on it when you walk in. I'd still go for bright and and airy in there, more natural and white colors, the glass windows and natural light are truly a gem to focus on. Price- overpriced for what you get (all the above). Keep your pricing where it's at but improve the areas above. FWIW, I keep coming back. It's convenient. And decent enough, but I'm just rooting on Dantorels to be great. So much potential! read more

Second time frequenting this establishment and it did not disappoint. Knew what I was ordering already going in, and so glad I did. I love varying textures and I got that and more with their sun dried tomato rigatoni. I devoured that and my plain crepe with strawberries and cream. I went for the first time today...I LOVED this place! The food was superb ..I had the half sandwich w salad ( get the Fuji salad!) and potatoes... This is the kind of place I hate to give a good review because I don't want more people to come. This is one of my favorites for a casual weekend brunch. Even though you may need to stand in line to order at the register, you can sit down after you get your number, and there was plenty of seating outdoor and indoor on a Saturday. Street parking is also easy on a weekend. Perhaps the pricing is high enough to deter customers, but I love a place where I don't have to wait a long time just get a table. And the food is amazing!!! Amazing food and amazing customer service! Today was my first time try Café Dantorels for a catch up with my previous supervisor. First thing first, parking: the street where I was, had only 1 hour parking. I parked at that street right next to the café. However, I wanted to make sure my car is secured and I don't rush my food. I went to one of the employee, (forgot to ask her name) and asked about parking options. She was super sweet and quickly told should me unlimited parking right across the street. She even guided me to the café's parking lot. I went ahead and quickly moved my car. I knew right there that I liked their customer service because I could tell how eager she was to help me. Then my previous supervisor came and expressed the same concern to an another employee and she got the same reaction from that employee as well. We were at peace knowing that we don't have to rush in an hour to move cars. So their customer service is definitely 5/5! Place: I got super busy with my ex-supervisor that I forgot to take pictures of the place. Nevertheless, the place is beautiful! They have indoor and outdoor seating! It's very casual and they service breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. It's a beautiful, casual place to catch up with people. 5/5 on the place as well! Food: my ex-supervisor and I ordered the same thing ironically. We got tofu scrambled. We have different options for bread, I got brown bread and she got sour dough bread. It also comes with potatoes. The food tasted DELICIOUS! It's served in a very nice portion. Comes with a butter and a jam. The table has ketchup and two hot sauces. I along with my company, really enjoyed the food, the environment, the customer service and the vibe! I'm definitely planning to come here more often. I went the other day expecting to really like this place since Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast. However, I was let down on multiple levels. First off, they brought my wife's food out at least 10 minutes before mine. She had nearly finished eating before my food came. There is no reason a burger should come out that much sooner than an Eggs Benedict. We had to go ask them where my food was. When my food finally came, it was nothing special. It's 4 years later. Same marginal food and bitter coffee. Prices have shot up. $22 for burger. If you want a good burger there are many other better places to go, like Pangaea, which is close by. Why am I here again? My daughter was looking for French toast and it's been years since I've set foot in the place. They've improved the ambience. There's more protected outdoor seating. They've added more foliage too. They removed the overhead menus and replaced them with handheld versions. Still, I don't know how they survived through the brunt of Covid. Some reviews of this place sounded bad. Since we are staying nearby we thought we would walk down and give it a try. Yes the atmosphere is amazing, yes the menu is huge, yes they do not heavily season (salt) their food. Here is where our experience differs from some of the less lucky folks. The servers were excellent and helped us make selections. The food came out in about 10 minutes and was quite good. Not gourmet but good. I had the California burger (beef patty, lettuce, bacon, tomato, guacamole) with skillet potatoes. A dash of salt on the potatoes and my dinner was perfect. Husband had the caprese salad. The tomatoes were not heirloom, and the mozzarella was soft, but the overall flavor was okay. The baguettes on the side were melt in your mouth soft and delicious. Staff checked in on us twice, refilling our drinks and asking if we needed anything further. If you are a foodie, this place will likely not please you. If you want a good food with lots of selection in a lovely atmosphere you should come by right away. read more

Okay, this place has been around a while and has established itself as hit or miss. This review is for the chicken kebab. The chicken kebab is excellent. It's a solid 5 stars. Every aspect of the kebab plate was perfectly delicious, which was literally a shock coming from this restaurant. It was so perfect that I have to assume the restaurant has improved overall. The reason for only 4 stars is the historical quality of the food I have eaten here in the past and the relentless sprinklers. The sprinklers are a nightmare. Please turn them off. There were some things I was disappointed in about Dantorels but the food that I tried was exceptional, so I think that deserves high praise. Logistics first: The sister restaurant to Crepeville located in Curtis Park, the menu offerings are pretty similar in that there's a spread of breakfast,/brunch food, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and even pasta, my favorite. The building and menu both have a hip Italian charm to them. If it isn't too hot, I would definitely recommend outdoor seating because the acoustics indoors are terrible (good if you have kids or want the distraction during an awkward date or something, but otherwise hard to get a conversation in). The décor and the waterfall outside especially are gorgeous, on par with Paragary's in Midtown. As with Crepeville, you order at the counter, seat yourself, and they bring the food to your number. I'm glad they have laminated menus available for those of us who are near-sighted lol The only issue I had is that I made a customization on my order of the Spicy Prawns Fettucine ($15.50). I'm not the biggest fan of pesto--I'll eat it if someone gives it to me, but I wouldn't spend money on it at a restaurant. So I asked to sub the sauce with the white wine sauce that is featured in the Seafood Fettucine ($17), instead of pesto. I'm not sure if it was the person at the counter who heard me wrong or the chef who disregarded the substitution, but when it came out, it was Alfredo sauce, not white wine sauce. The primary reason I didn't say anything was because I didn't realize this until I'd already started eating it and the sauce tasted very creamy (it was hard to tell just by looking at it when the dish arrived from the server). It was still extremely tasty, albeit heavy, but it's just not what I ordered. I also get anxious about speaking up and didn't want to inconvenience them further. My friend who ordered a breakfast plate was more courageous than me. She sent her food back twice because the first time they cooked her eggs wrong (again, either a miscommunication or a mistake), and the second time they forgot a substitution she asked for. So overall it seems like there are some problems in communication and clarification when it comes to order customization. It would be one thing if they did not allow substitutions like more formal restaurants, but since they do, I think they need to work on getting them right. That said, the pasta I had was scrumptious. It was loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp, zucchini, mushrooms, peas, and cherry tomatoes (all of my favorites!) I loved how the veggies were just cooked and not soggy--nothing worse than overcooked squash and tomato! Usually there's always one or two ingredients in entrées with medleys that I'm not hugely in love with e.g. bell pepper or marinara sauce, but it was like this pasta dish was made just for me. The alfredo sauce like I said was actually quite tasty and I'd recommend it, I just wish they'd given me what I'd initially ordered, the white wine sauce. I will be back to try it, I'll just have the seafood pasta next time I think! I am also intrigued that they serve in-house Temple Coffee and LAVENDER LATTES? I will for sure be back, but I'll just be more explicit with any substitution requests. As a side note, my friend loved her breakfast platter and another friend claims they have the best crispy chicken sandwich in town.
