Mediocre at best. The food isn't bad, it's just not very good and when I go out to eat I want it to be better than what this place provides. It's just about the only place in our area with pleasant outdoor seating within walking distance so we occasionally still frequent it, each time I hope it will be better but thus far it's still mediocre. The crepes are decent but they serve them with potatoes, I don't want more heavy carbs. They will let you order a half salad at additional charge, but I rather have a simple side salad as a choice. Lettuce can't cost that much more than the potatoes. Anyway, if you come here don't expect anything great, it's just ok. read more

This place is really good . I've been here 3xs this week and service has been great as well . Overall , It's a new fav spot for me in Sac. We need more little restaurants like this . The quality of the food is above average, timeliness is very well , it seems very organized in a busy way . I have been very happy every time I have came here . TERRIBLE SERVICE, I WAS TREATED VERY RUDELY AND DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. Please read. I don't usually write reviews but I feel like it's necessary to share about the terrible customer service I received at cafe Dantorels. I hate doing this because I use to work in the food industry so I understand how it can be sometimes, but I was treated very poorly today and the customer service was TERRIBLE here. My partner and I finished ordering our food and I was given a number to then go find a table. As my partner and I were walking towards the outside area for outside seating a waitress walked by and said there was no seating in that area. Ok not a problem. We looked at the other outside seating area and it also looked full. So while being inside trying to find seating-- I saw another young woman eating her meal inside the restaurant. There were tables that had signs that said no seating and then one table did not have a sign on it so I was under the impression that it was ok to sit there since there was no sign saying you couldn't and another young lady was also eating her meal inside. All the doors were open in the restaurant and the tables were properly distanced so again I was under the impression that it was ok for me to sit down, since another person was also seated inside eating her meal. So I put our number down on the table and proceeded to sit down. After this one of the staff members behind the bar said in a very loud voice to me "No indoor seating!" And then walked away. I was very unhappy with the way that he spoke to me and felt very confused because he literally said this as I'm watching this other customer EAT INSIDE!!??? I have no problem with following the covid guidelines and making sure I'm doing my part to keep everyone safe but he did not have to speak to me that way and he didn't even acknowledge the fact that someone was already eating inside. I felt like I was be singled out because he spoke to me in a loud and rude tone but did not address the other person who was already eating their meal inside. So I quickly picked up our number and cups of water and just stood there because I was told the outside seating area was full and was yelled at to not sit inside. If a restaurant does not have availability for you to sit down some where, they should have communicated that beforehand. So eventually a waitress came by and seated me at a table where someone had just left. I spoke to the waitress and voiced my concern to her about what happened and how one of the staff members spoke to me in a rude way about sitting inside, but they allowed for someone else to sit and eat their meal there. The waitress clarified for me that the person eating inside was an employee. The waitress apologized but it seemed very insincere and disingenuous because as I was trying to explain the situation to her she kept trying to walk away from the table and was trying to justify why the other staff member probably spoke to me that way??? The way I was treated felt very dismissive and not genuine AT ALL. Even if the person eating inside was an employee how would I have known that? I think it would feel confusing for anyone to be yelled at about not sitting inside as your watching someone else sit inside and eat. And if you have a policy about people not eating inside why are employees an exception? The risk related to covid is still there whether you are a customer that eats inside or an employee. I felt that I was treated VERY POORLY, and even when I tried to discuss with a staff member the situation--- AGAIN It was handled very poorly and in a disingenuous way. I will definitely NOT be going back to this restaurant. read more

My son loves the French toast but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu - delicious crepes, salads, sandwiches, breakfast plates. It's all so good! Friendly staff too. I had never been to Cafe Dantores, but clients suggested we meet there. They were having a late lunch - salads that looked great, but since I had already had lunch I opted for dessert. I had read a review about the strawberry crepe and couldn't get it off mind. So many delicious items to choose from, but I did indeed order the strawberry crepe. It was wonderful. I haven't been here for a while since I had their outstanding burger, probably the best in Sac-Town that I've tried so far. But this time I came here for breakfast and ordered the prawn crêpe. They did it again! This was an outstanding crêpe so full of flavor. Even the cheese they use was so flavorful and plenty of it. I ordered the Fuji salad - small - plenty of food and came with foccacia bread, which was delicious. Tried an an Anderson Valley blood orange gose to drink and that tasted horrible - like some kind of weird mimosa (this has nothing to do with the restaurant and everything to do with the beer)! I brought it back up and asked if it was possible to get something else, and they were accommodating and I swapped it for a Scrimshaw (which was the same price and tasty). If I have anything to be upset by Dantorels, it would be that I only just found out about it, despite being so close. It's a good sized space in a convenient location for those of us in the Land Park neighborhood. The front patio provides a pleasant view of the neighborhood (at least pre- and post-street repair crews). Also, the menu is so expansive that you'll want to give yourself a few extra minutes to figure out what you're in the mood for. As I have only visited during lunch, I've always gone for burgers and I've been working my way down their burger menu (on the separate board to the right side of the ordering registers. Don't limit yourself to the few burgers on the Big Board. Thick beef patties cooked to your specs, fresh veggies, a really pleasant bun - very soft but never soggy. Also, the steak sandwich is amazing - with the avocado and fried egg. Again, when the sandwich arrives, you expect the brioche to be too delicate for the mound of meat and produce inside, but it all holds up. Also, while they offer fries, go for the house potatoes. They take a little extra time, but they're roasted tender with a bit of char, but never chewy or crunchy. I've never had an issue with the food, but service is pretty hit or miss. Staff can be helpful and friendly, but I've also had visits where it's felt like they're busier in their own conversations. read more

My bf and I decided to try a new restaurant for brunch. We found this location thru Yelp! I was impressed with the humongous menu board. It looks colorful and bright! This cafe is very similar to Crepeville on L street. I really enjoyed the Athens omelette, it was very tasty; however I wasn't impressed with the homemade thick French toasts.. Also I paid extra for the fresh fruit and the sad part, it wasn't too fresh. Overall, food was good. I will def come back. read more

Cafe Dantorels is a tradition for my boyfriend and I whenever he gets to visit me. We've been here about 4-5 times since I've moved to Sacramento and we've loved it enough to continue coming here. I would've given it a perfect score but my last meal here with my boyfriend was-- to my shock-- not as up to par as all of my other meals here have been. I've tried various menu items in the past, ranging from breakfast and dessert crepes to their burgers. I was always left impressed or satisfied with the presentation, proportions, and of course, the taste. The fact that it's "tradition" to us does say a lot. My last meal here, however, I decided to go for a salad since it was lunch time. Their steak salad sounded like the perfect balance between a juicy burger and not breaking the diet, so I went for it. My boyfriend chose the Western Burger. Along with it, we both ordered the pomegranate green tea. When my salad arrived, it looked absolutely delicious. In comparison to the plate that was brought out holding my boyfriend's burger, I was sure I would be the one having the best lunch of the day. I was surprised and quite sad when the first piece of steak reached my mouth. It was dry, lacked flavor, and to make things worse, the light salad vinaigrette hidden underneath all the leafy greens and vegetables was... Well.. Hidden. Hardly any moisture was available to reverse my sadness. My boyfriends burger, on the other hand... Absolutely delicious. We may come here again; their large crepe variety satisfies whatever it may be I'm craving. But one thing for sure.. I know I won't be getting the salad anymore. read more

This is a Cool neighborhood spot that seems to attract people from all over. we have been here a couple times and both times had favorable. They have quite a selection of food, and your almost overwhelmed with the choices and the MASSIVE over head Order Board. It is a busy place and the ordering system really is my biggest issue, actually it is slow and People holding spots in the huge line and then others jumping in is ridiculous... I love this place because it's so pretty inside! I love the remodel, it adds to the coolness especially their outside patio. My favorite thing here is the Fuji salad! When they have tomato basil soup which is (On Sunday's typically) I get the half soup and salad combo with focaccia bread.. It's so good! It's just a perfect mix of salad greens with caramel oozed walnuts and Fuji apple slices. So good! Not forget is the carrot cake.. The only carrot cake in sac that I like! Nice place to go to on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is on huge boards over the register. While most of the menu deals with the various types of crepes, there are a couple side boards with sandwiches and salads and stuff. The salads have pretty big portions. The burgers are a decent size and we had to take some of each home. The outside area was nice to sit since its on a quiet street. Still a winner in my book. I've eaten a few entries here and they have been above average. What wins me are the patios. And now they have another side patio/deck that is beautiful. It will be perfect in the winter with some overhead heaters. I hung out there after lunch it is was very pleasant, able to get a lot of work done. (Had issues with the WiFi though). Stopped in while taking a break from running errands. My wife had a turkey burger and I had a western burger. One of the best turkey burgers I've tasted! Nice place for brunch! Huge menu with breakfast, lunch & dinner items plus a wine list & lots of beers. I had the fuji salad & a glass of wine. It was very yummy! My friend had an omelet w/ house potatoes. We both had a lot of food. The only down was the servers don't do follow up once the food is brought - no checks to see if we wanted refills on water etc. But all in all a very pleasant experience. Overall this is a good place to eat but I was surprisinly disappointed with the dinner menu. My girlfriend and I decided to split the Seafood Fettucinni and the Red Clam Chowder and found both to be rather dull. The Fettucinni lacked flavor and the clam chowder was just simply vegetable soup with clams in it. The best part of the Fettucinni was the bread! I'm going to give it another try since I've had good experiences in the past but pretty surprised on how sub par the food was for dinner. read more

I have been here twice on two different occasions once for dinner and then again for brunch. Dinner was amazing I had their bbq chicken burger. They gave you so much food it was awesome. For breakfast I had the California crepe with added chicken. I wasn't to high on the crepe but then again it was my first time eating a crepe. Overall i really loved the ambiance it's super chill and super nice in there. Met a group of friends for Saturday brunch around 10:00am. It was a little chilly so the indoor seating was packed ... we decided to brave the covered patio with our jackets and it worked it ok. There is a center table with a cool fire feature ... the table was full but as soon as it opened up, we moved to there to be warmer. My friend lives right down the street from Donterals so I usually order as take-out and enjoy it at her house but this time we decided to eat in since we were feeling like quite the socia butterflies. I am unsure if it is because of how high the ceiling is and the menu is mostly chalk but I feel very welcomed here. Immediately know what we want to order, my friend stick to the usual which is steak alfredo and I order a grilled chicken club sandwhich. We are given a number rod and choose out table. The restaurant has a little area where you help yourself to water next to the coffee personalization Station. Our food is delivered quite promptly and this place never fails to please. Or at least I can speak for my experiences. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the cashier did not seem content with us coming in. She was not rude and I did not feel offended. My friend and I came here on a Friday morning for brunch. Cafe Dantorels has a very exquisite atmosphere to it. Here you can find friendly servers and happy customers. A server Tamara, who was very polite and happy, took my order. Then Barista Tamili made an amazing coffee for my friend and tea for me. She was very professional, carried a smile and asked if we needed anything else. Highly recommend this place to others! I think we need more servers in our lives like Tamara and Tamili! Ordered the omelette and gluten-free blueberry muffin; my partner ordered the omelette as well as the banana bread freedom toast. I love the omelettes here! Nothing like a deliciously savory omelette with protein & good fats to get your day going! The almond milk latte was also great - nice balance of bitter & sweet to me. I gave 4 stars because the gluten-free muffin tasted more like baked paste than a muffin. I know some people don't like gluten-free & think it all sucks...but that just isn't the case. I live in Curtis Park and I've been giving Cafe Dantorel's "one more shot" for about 3 years now. I won't be frequenting this neighborhood spot any longer. I'm super bummed. Today I ordered a sesame bagel with avocado/guacamole spread. A nice young man came out later, after I was seated, to let me know they were out of sesame bagels. No prob, I can be flexible. I choose poppy seed instead. Then a nice girl comes out with my bagel, which is slathered in cream cheese. I let girl know that I didn't ask for cream cheese. I just want a bagel with avocado spread. She says no problem that she'll fix it for me. Then she comes back out to let me know they are out of poppy seed bagels and only have cinnamon raisin. I'm kind of dumbfounded at this point, and I really don't want to eat a sweet bagel with avocado. :-( I asked for a refund and watched my friends eat their bagels. My trips here are about that disappointing every single time. read more

The food is fine, but the staff is shockingly mediocre. Every time I have eaten here the cashiers have been extraordinarily rude and VERY resistant to helping customers (i.e. doing their job). I once asked for the side of potatoes I ordered and paid for which never arrived at my table and the waitress blatantly refused to give me them and proceeded to argue with me for 5 minutes. This place is a gem - we're lucky to have them in Curtis Park! The food is consistently very good and there's a large, diverse menu to choose from. The crepes are particularly delicious. The coffee drinks are excellent and the service has always been friendly and efficient. The dining spaces, both inside and out, are comfortable and very pleasant. I've been here for breakfast and dinner so I feel I've experienced the full range of what they have to offer. It was all delicious. The home potatoes AND the fries are amazing (yes, they can give you country potatoes with dinner). I've tried all their veggie burger options (veggie burger, tofu burger and portobello burger) and all were satisfying. Some places only have one vegetarian choice, this place has many, so I give them props. Also, I've never had trouble getting a table. Service isn't too fast and isn't too slow.
