Everytime I see this place, its packed so I had high expectations, but it let me down. The chilaquiles divorciados were okay. I've def had better. The asada was thin and dry. The chilaquiles made my partner sick and she didnt even want to finish her breakfast burrito anymore. The biggest disappointment was the Strawberry 3 Leches! It looked moist but it was dry and on top of it, it was burnt and the burned cake was pretty obvious in taste so i couldnt eat it. We threw it away. It cost us like $7, i think. I will stick to drinks & churros only for this place. I'll go across to Papa Juans to get me potato tacos instead At least we finally tried it, but its not for us . Parking can be tricky and we've gotten a parking ticket there before so read the signs and be careful. Bathrooms are shared with all the other places there. Today we finally made it in for table service! We usually stop by to pick up churros to enjoy at home, but we were up early and decided to have breakfast at the restaurant instead. There's plenty of parking in the back, plus a few street parking spots in front. If you park in the back, just make your way around to the front entrance. It was busy when we arrived, and they told us the wait would be about 20-25 minutes. I think we were seated in about 15, and my kiddo had fun hanging out in the little library while we waited. Once we were seated, we ordered our food, and the entire staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. They checked on us throughout the meal, and we ended up finishing everything! The food is amazing, but the drinks deserve their own shoutout. We ordered the Agua de Piña, iced horchata, café de olla, and a regular coffee, and every single one was delicious. A total upgrade from the previous location here! Came in and got a to go order, it was too packed and while there were tables the spacing between them is close and I prefer something more intimate. Anywho, I got an order of the divorced chilaquiles with over medium eggs, and a small iced cafe de olla. I think my sweet server upgraded me to a large though because this was pretty big. The chilaquiles were crispy and the perfect mild spice. Usually in To go boxes they sog up quick however these didn't so yay. For being over medium the eggs were slightly too over easy. Came for brunch on an early Friday afternoon and the restaurant was filled with customers. Ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the California Burrito. The Huevos Rancheros were the best I have had so far, the California burrito however according to my friend did not taste too fresh from the fries inside and the burrito could have been a little warmer. The place was very very nice, super aesthetically pleasing. Loved the cute art wall where you can take cute pics. Wish I would have taken a pic of that. I only have it a 3 because the food was very mid, nothing to really remember it by. The asada fries were good but nothing else, a bit pricy for it being so basic. Would I go back, maybe. I have heard a lot about this Cafe de la Abuela and wanted to give this place a try. Today was my first time going there, but definitely not the last. When I walked in, I noticed how well all the employees were with their customers and how chill the ambiance was. It has outdoor and indoor seating. The place was very clean and medium sized. Very quaint and beautiful. I chose to sit inside since it was hot on the patio. Destiny was my server and she came to take my order. I ordered french toast topped with berries and lots of whipped cream. I also got their medium size Iced Cold Frappe Cafe De Olla. Got a nicely sized breakfast burrito and asked for the bacon to be very crispy. Destiny brought out my food fast and quick. 10/10. Food was delicious, bacon was nicely crisped and they have a great sized parking lot shared with other businesses. They also do pick up/delivery/catering and 3rd party orders! My wife and I came to have breakfast here because I saw their social media video and mention it to my wife. This place has a private parking lot in the back that is shared with other businesses or you can do street parking. We did the street parking across the street. When we came, they were busy but not too bad. They let us choose if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating and my wife chose outdoor. I got the breakfast burrito with bacon and my wife got the chilaquiles with red sauce and green sauce. For my drink, I got a cola in a glass bottle and my wife got her cafe de olla. Our food came out quick, like right after our waiter came back with our drinks. The problem if you sit outside is the flies so be aware. I thought the burrito was okay and their sauce was mild in term of spicy. My wife like her chilaquiles and cafe de olla too. She finished her dish but I barely ate my food since our daughter started to cry. I asked for a to go box and extra sauce, they give me three cups of the sauce which was very generous. read more

Came here with a friend last Sunday. My overall impression was mediocre. To start it is pretty popular and there was a lot of people waiting and we were sat quickly considering. That being said the service is not the greatest. We ordered their Chilaquiles, green ones with Carne and I have to say they were tasty but that's all that was tasty. Their coffee is the worst I've ever had anywhere and the lattes are super sweet. You're not really getting coffee you're getting more of a dessert drink. When we paid, the server didn't give us an option to leave a tip she just took our bill and we pretty much were asked to leave since they continued to come and ask us if we were done. It's beautiful and chill over here. It is a mainly Spanish speaking establishment. From the start service was already nice but once they realized I spoke Spanish they became a lot more comfortable and warmer because they felt more comfortable communicating. I hate having to give a lower rating came in yesterday because I wanted coffee for my self and my mom since it was a chilly day. My mom only drinks decaf coffee for health reasons. We ordered and were told while waiting for our drinks they were all out of decaf. Had to go back to the counter for my refund, I asked if we can switch to another item and tried getting a agua Fresca. There's a list of I believe 5 in the menu. Staff told us some are season, but for sure had the top 3 so my mom chose one. He came back to tell us they didnt have it either. I must try. If you're into chilaquiles. I had a divorciado with Stack, and I keep hearing about horchata coffee. I also tried it. I had it with the café, canela. Not bad. Be careful. I remember this spot when it used to be Horchatería Río Luna, so it was nice to come back and see it now as Café de la Abuela while still keeping those Latino vibes. The first time I tried their food was when my friend ordered the chilaquiles and honestly, they were amazing and left a great impression, which made me want to return for breakfast. Today I stopped by a bit later in the day (around closing time), so the kitchen was already closed. We only got drinks an iced café de olla and a hot one. Both were good, but I felt like the flavor wasn't as strong as the first time I tried it, possibly because it was the end of the day and things were winding down. Overhyped for sure!! Social media made this place famous, but real ones know this place as the horchateria spot. Cafe de la Abuela is basically a rebrand of that same place so that they can sell food. Yes, it is the same owners, and yes, they sell some of their old horchata items from their horcheteria days. They basically wanted to sell food and rebranded the entire model in order to do so. That being said, service is the same; literally some of the same staff is still there. If you order drinks, they will call your name and hand them to you on the side window like they used to do. The main difference is just the food that they now bring to you. But once they bring it to you, you no longer matter. The place is extremely small, and it gets crowded fast, and there's no way to eat in peace here. The line will have it wrapped around the little tables they do have, making your dining experience a bad one. As for the food, I got the Cali burrito; it was alright. The chicken itself was tasteless; if it was not for their green salsa, which was really good, I would not have enjoyed it very much. The crispy chicken was just that ....crispy... and tasteless. Pretty huge let down. I wanted to try the food based on the hype, but nah, no bueno. At least I got myself my usual cafe de olla I used to get from the horchateria. Tastes the same, so that's a plus!
