Really friendly and nostalgic of how I grew up as a kid going to the big diner chains that have now turned into breakfast slop similar to airplane food in economy class. Nice-sized free parking lot in the back. Probably fills up at peak breakfast/brunch time but we didn't have that problem. Heavenly Pancakes has some interesting pancake options, and we opted for the sweet potato with berries. Also got a spinach and feta omelet with some hash browns, and a burger with fries for the kiddo. Coffee is nice and strong. Burger was a generous size for a kids' meal, and the fries were nice and crispy. The omelet didn't look like much but was very tasty. The hash browns could have been more crispy but I'll just ask for them to be well done next time. Could have used some salsa but that's just me. The sweet potato pancakes were awesome! I'm not a big sweets for breakfast gal but these were a good balance of sweet potato flavor with sweet cream and fresh berries on top. My only regret is not also trying the corn pancakes, but that's how you know I'll be back. read more

A few weeks back, my son and I were in the San Fernando area visiting family and handling a few things at my father's office. Once that was wrapped up, the late-morning hunger kicked in. As I was scrolling through nearby options, it hit me. We were less than half a mile from one of my old-time favorites. Quick drive up the road and boom. There we were. This place holds some history for me. When I was about 15 or 16, this was my very first restaurant job as a busboy. Back then, the name was flipped around, but walking in now, the vibe felt almost exactly the same. I hadn't been back in a solid 10 to 15 years, so that alone was worth the visit. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but around 10:30 am on a weekday, it was totally manageable. We were seated quickly. I shared my brief backstory with our server, who laughed, confirmed the name change, and casually mentioned he wasn't even born yet when I worked there. No hard feelings. Tip remained intact. Coffee and water came out fast. My son and I both ordered the three pancakes with two poached eggs. Simple, classic, and solid. The presentation was straightforward, which I'm perfectly fine with. Prices have crept up a bit over the years, as expected. Adding a side of bacon or sausage as part of the plate might add a little more value, but the food itself is delivered. Would I go back? Yeah, absolutely. Nostalgia alone earns that. Next time, I might switch it up and go with the breakfast burrito. If memory serves, the chorizo is legit. If you haven't been, give it a try. Service was bad. Our waiter did not bring our coffee after 3 times asking for it. Had to call his attention to get our coffee. Checked in only once with us, yet restaurant isn't even full at all. Took 20 minutes to get our food. The pancakes were like underdone. Almost chewy to a point couldn't even cut them right. They crumbled. Very festive decor, holiday season is in full effect. The cashier was very helpful and pleasant, pointing out menu options to consider. I ordered the he country breakfast. I've had family members that generally don't prefer this location to be their primary choice for breakfast however, I have always loved the food the intimacy the neighborhood feel to this location and the wonderful customer service. Which is why on my most recent visit I chose this as the breakfast with my aunt to whom I don't get to see very often. As always the waiter was wonderful personable friendly simply awesome. However the problem came with the person that I came to know as the owner, as it was pointed out to me. For his actions and rudeness, I probably won't be back. In fact they should train the owner on how to act how to be with his customers and how to talk to customers. Breakfast was over however we were still enjoying the remaining coffee we had on our cups and finishing up a conversation that the three of us were very engaged in. Looking around there were empty tables and booths still there. However this did not stop the owner from walking up to our table and explaining to us that we were talking for too long and that he could move us away from this table and somewhere as he motioned to the back so we can continue talking. We simply got up and looked at him and decided to leave We had already paid our check, but as I said we're simply still enjoying our coffee and conversation and the atmosphere of the place. This owner obviously doesn't care about any of that and really is simply just focused on turnaround time and how quickly he could push people out from enjoying their breakfast and conversation in the mornings. Not my first time here but for some reason their chicken changed from the past few times I tried it. I loved it in the past so juicy but nice crispy outside but now it was just overcooked. My waitress was friendly, but I don't understand why my eggs and potatoes were brought out before my chicken with waffle. Most places serve your meal all together. They have a friendly staff, a lot of regular customers came in, you can tell they were regulars from conversations they were having. Unfortunately I won't be returning to this place. I remember this place used to be good, after the last experience I wouldn't come here again. I got the monte cristo omelette which is just under $20. What a disaster. I understand this is a diner, but they put very little effort into the dish. Their pancakes are great. But it's even cheaper to go eat sushi. Or for breakfast at Egg plantation. You get a lot more food. Way better and bigger coffee for less. It was $50 with a very mediocre tip. Last month in Feb I took my mom and son for breakfast. $70! I had the French Toast with Squaw Bread and a breakfast with eggs over easy. Everything was cooked perfectly, the French toast was so delicious. The next day I ordered the chilaquiles special with a Divine pancake. Every was delicious, even the coffee. It was a nice family ambiance, crowded but there is a 45 minute limit to eat, so tables are open quickly. The employees were also very friendly and helpful.
