My favorite cafe in Mesilla is now at 2190 Avenida de Mesilla. Love the lattes! Love the secret recipe tuna salad and the tomato basil soup for lunch...new on the expanded menu are lovely salads and hot breakfasts in addition to French pastries. Yum yum! read more

We really enjoyed Cafe de la Mesilla, the service was good actually contrary to some reviewers and we were there on a Sunday at brunch time. We had huevos rancheros with half red and half green both of which were yummy and unique. The decaf cafe au lait was good and was made with soy milk as requested. On the way to the bathroom, which was darling, I spotted a tray of almond croissants that were homemade on the premises and could not pass it up. Good decision....fabulous. This is a lovely abode house with each room set up as a dining room. Very pretty with lots of beautiful pottery on display. Owner greeted us and provided excellent service. Huevos Ranchero with potatoes, beans and tortilla were excellent. This is the kind of place where locals drop in for a huge cappucino and to visit. Food is good, coffee is decent, ambiance is nice but service is slow and not friendly. Line and wait was so long couldn't even get a chance to ask for anything like a glass of water or cream while eating. Other tables were serviced and checked on , brought items requested but not ours. read more

Just had a great pancake breakfast here (large hotcakes). Delicious! Dog friendly patio (really nice for our "old" girl Lillie - the very helpful and friendly owner brought her a bowl of water before we could ask). Nice menu, nice setting in a wonderful little historic town. read more

Horrible experience. Sat us down and told us it would be 30 minutes till we got our food. Took over 45 minutes and they never came to check on us. People sat next to us 20 minutes after us and STILL got our food after them! They got two of our orders messed up. The food wasn't even warm or hot, and it wasn't that good. We got three burritos two pancakes and a panini. That food shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes to make and it wasn't even busy in the restaurant. We were never checked on and never asked how we were doing or if our food was okay. We are five college students and were not given the same respect as other adults. Will never go back there again. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

i would give this place a ---star if i could. this was the worst experience that i have ever had in new mexico. the owner was extremely rude to the server and came to take our order and cut off the server while he was talking. what a total ignorant rude person she was. The worst boss ever. that poor server. no one deserves that kind of treatment from a boss. to top it off, she was just plain rude taking our order, adjusting the ac without excusing herself, totally pushing me and a friend I was taking out for mother's day and rushing us out. Fiancé and I come here multiple times a week after a morning jog, the coffee is always amazing. Our usual is the huevos rancheros (red) and biscuits and gravy with an occasional apple strudel. Very unimpressed with this place and I'm really not sure why they have such a good review. My girlfriend and I just had a simple breakfast with coffee and some silver dollar pancakes. The eggs were nearly uncooked on both are plates even though they were requested to be cooked differently. The sausage was taken out of a package just like they do it at McDonalds. Potatoes were normal but couldn't really get a good idea since we only got about 7 small diced pieces each. The silver dollars were very literal and approximately the same size as the real thing for 3:50 and just as hard! Also the coffee was just like McDonald's except cost3.25 a cup for refillable. Not to mention the waitress was so busy talking to her friends she never even came to refill anything or check on us. I do not recommend this place since there are so many better options in town. read more

I've had a heavy heart about this all day. This afternoon my family and I came for lunch. Mainly because there was a wait at every restaurant in Mesilla and we had children. The extremely happy young man was inviting. I heard him even be friendly with a woman who only ordered tea and basically wanted to use their Wifi. He was knowledgeable about the menu. Great Food! The menu led us to believe TexMex but turned out to be the opposite. Really tasty. The plating was interesting but in the southwest a lot of things are up for debate. We were strictly taken care of the young man, however the woman who I assume is the owner NOT only never greeted or talked to us. Then sent him home and pocketed the tip we left. I said in the car ride back to town "Is this appropriate??" The walls are painted bright colors, The soul here seems dark. A tip to the young man. You deserve better and hold your head up high. Wont support this type of greed. If you do eat here the food was delicious. read more
