Didn't try any of their coffee drinks, just ordered brunch food to share with my friend. The Churro Waffle is PHENOMENAL, would order it again without a doubt! Crispy, deeply rich cinnamon goodness, not too sweet, but also would be fantastic as a dessert waffle. Chorizo Burrito - good but not great, I've had better tasting burritos. I feel like there was solid amount of chorizo, yet needed more hash brown for a more balanced burrito. The hot orange red salsa was a perfect spicy kick to add on top. Customer service was solid enough, our server was attentive with asking if we wanted small plates for sharing our dishes. Though, she never refilled our water glasses during our brunch visit. I get they were super busy for a Sunday, but still it doesn't take long to refill waters lol. Since we put our name and phone number down around noon on a Sunday, we waited almost an hour on the Yelp waitlist for a party of 2 (which despite us being quite hungry for brunch, the time flew by since we were chatting and chilling at the nearby park). FYI, their Yelp waitlist can get filled to capacity on Sundays and when it does, the restaurant will temporarily disable it. So like we had to, you will have to walk in and write your name on their Yelp waitlist instead of using the Yelp app to do this.

Caffe Olla is a wow from the moment you sit down. The breakfast hits all the right notes the sweet bread cart is a standout, and the scrambled eggs and fresh fruit were simple but perfectly done. Service was outstanding, warm and attentive without missing a beat. And the mascarpone latte? Absolute perfection rich, smooth, and worth coming back for on its own. A spot that makes a simple breakfast feel special.

Great place for a solid Mexican breakfast/brunch. I would highly recommend making reservations prior your visit; especially on a weekend since it gets pretty crowded. Yelp offers the join waitlist so you can save a spot for your visit The place is buzzing with people and waiters, pretty busy all around and not quiet. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados which consist of the red and green chilaquiles side by side. It comes with a hefty side of refried beans topped with cheese and some rice. The dish over all is delicious and more than enough food for me. I also ordered cafe de olla which is coffee with cinnamon and sugar and to be honest, it was TOO sweet for me. I ended up asking the waiter if he could pour me some solid black coffee to go with it and he was kind enough to bring me a cup of black coffee to pour it in myself. After doing that, the cafe de olla was just right! The place is clean, including the restrooms even in such a busy place. The food comes out fast and they're attentive ensuring you are satisfied with your order. They have a cart with Mexican bread (a la dim sum). Depending on the bread you get, it will be added to your bill. We didn't have any issues finding street parking which was free.

4.8 stars for Cafe De Olla! We came here on a Saturday around 11 for a brunch/lunch. This place is popular and the wait was about 60 min so definitely take advantage of the Yelp Waitlist and check-in ahead of time to minimize your wait. Our experience was delightful. Everything tasted amazing, from the chilaquiles with the perfect spice kick and crunch factor to the creamy cafe de Olla. Servers were very friendly and vibes were great here. We will be back soon!~

Absolutely loved Cafe De Olla in Monrovia! I got there right when it opened so there was no wait. The restaurant was cozy and the staff were so nice and attentive. There were alot of breakfast selections but we settled for Steak & Eggs and the Ham & Cheese Omelette, both came with a side (hashed brown, fries or fruit), and choice of toast. Food tasted amazing. Will definitely add this to my regular go-to spot for breakfast.

January 2026 - Party of 2 on a Sunday around 1pm, 45 minutes wait. Food/Pricing - First time eating lunch here instead brunch food. The meat in the tacos were a bit dry and bland. The sauce had a nice kick and helped with the taste. Adding in the beans and rice into the tacos also made it less dry. Service/Ambiance - Service was prompt. A bit disappointed in my lunch choice but will likely be back for brunch. Parking - Plenty of street parking or public lots nearby.

Deeply pleasant dining experience. Staff was really nice and the service was quick and attentive. The food is also great! My egg white omelet's egg whites: the whitest. My fruit: the freshest. And my boyfriend's barbeque burger: the burgiest. Coffee was also very tasty.

Be prepared to wait for weekend brunch. I came here with two friends around noon on a Sunday, and we waited about an hour to be seated. It wasn't too bad since the restaurant is in the heart of Old Town Monrovia. You can walk around and browse the nearby shops while you wait, and the time cruises by. They'll send you a text when your table is ready. The front desk staff and waiters were friendly, and we were greeted with warm smiles from the start. I ordered the menudo and a Ferrero iced latte--both were excellent. The menudo was one of the cleanest I've had. The tripe was cut into bite-sized pieces, and the broth was clear, without any heavy residue from the spices. The latte was strong with the perfect level of sweetness. I also grabbed a vanilla concha to go for my daughter, and it was delicious. The inside had the perfect amount of fluff. I'll definitely be returning :)

Like the cafe de olla and choice of bread. Not a fan of the fried tamales however I think everything else on the plate was good so I'm sure the menu has yummy other options. Service was good as well. This was my first visit here and I came with high expectations but I left disappointed. Took my entire fam for breakfast, the two host at the front of the restaurant greeted us as soon as we walked in. They were both lovely, polite, and friendly and we were seated right away. Our waitress was not so friendly. Her table manners were cold and quite frankly she made our first experience at this popular, highly yelped restaurant not so great. After taking our drink orders, I asked for flavored creamer on the side for my cafe de olla..she responded with, "You know, this is a very sweet coffee, it already has sugar in it. Do you still want flavored creamer!?" Her tone was not pleasant. I responded with a, " Yes, please a couple flavored creamers on the side. Thank you". We were a party of five, I had the less complicated order: the Berry Waffle. Unfortunately, M y order was "overlooked". I felt bad for my family who all had their plates in-front of them and they insisted on waiting to eat until I received my order, unfortunately- they ate cold food while I had a hot waffle served 10+ minutes after them. My waffle was just okay. It had a light crunch to it. The blueberries and strawberries were fresh and that is what made the flavor on this plate. For the price, I expected more, It's a small waffle with a cup of mixed berries. The cafe de olla was good. However, it probably would have been amazing had I been able to taste it with a bit of flavored creamer, the way I, the customer, enjoys it. The quality of table service from this particular waitress was an epic fail all around. She had a bad attitude. She never even apologized for not placing my order and she didn't check in on our table periodically. Not at all what I expected. Esthetically, it's a nice restaurant in a nice location. Would I go back? Most likely not.

Great table service. It's seems like one guy does it all. I had to get his attention a couple of times but he looked pretty busy. Food was sooo good. Definitely worth coming back for. I had a vegetarian breakfast burrito for dinner. Yum! Saved 1/2 of it for the next day. My hubby also had breakfast burrito, my dad had enchiladas with molé sauce. They said they enjoyed their food also. Street parking only. Good luck with that.

Sunday brunch with the family! It was really convenient that they offered the option to join the waitlist through Yelp -- we didn't have to rush to the restaurant and were able to stroll around downtown while waiting for our table. Inside, it was moderately loud, and the bench cushions were worn out, which made sitting a bit uncomfortable (especially since I was wearing a skirt). The service was okay overall; they took quite a while to take our order, though it did improve after we experienced an issue. I tried the pie de guayaba, tres leches, chilaquiles, refried beans, tortillas, and torta de pierna. The desserts were delicious! The pie was perfectly balanced -- just the right amount of tartness, sweetness, and a great crust. My favorite dish was probably the chilaquiles; they were perfectly crispy, and all three salsas were delicious! I just wish they had a bit more garnish (like cheese and onions). The torta de pierna was okay -- the meat itself was flavorful, but the rest of the toppings were pretty average. Unfortunately, my sister also ordered a torta de pierna and found a small piece of glass in her sandwich. The staff handled it professionally, they comped the torta and offered a free dessert, but it was still a serious safety concern and made us a bit uneasy about the kitchen's quality control.

Only downside was the wait, but the downtown area is really cute and walkable. They have the online wait list so you can see exactly where you are in line and they text you when you're next. We had coffee down the street and enjoyed the weather. The food was DELICIOUS. I got an omelette and my husband got a combo. We're already planning our next visit. read more

I was not impressed. Unfortunately, we waited approximately 40 minutes to be seated due to the receptionist's error in taking our number correctly which resulted in us not receiving a text notification. We were waiting outside on the bench by their outdoors seating in the heat, at which point an employee could have easily detected and corrected that miscommunication. Then when we were seated indoors at our table, we battled flies the entire length of the meal. The food was decent. I guess I have high standards just cooking for myself now... but isn't that what makes restaurants trip-worthy? I'm honestly sad as I was looking forward to my visit and the reality dampened my expectation. Maybe I'll try again and better circumstances will prevail. read more

We were walking around downtown Monrovia and saw a long line of people outside--so we wanted to check it out to see what all the hype was about! We went on a Saturday morning so perhaps this is why it was so busy (we don't know how busy it gets on a weekday, assuming less?). When we asked about the wait time for 2, they said 30-45 min. So we asked if we can sit at the counters by the windows, and they said yes but that we wouldn't be served--we were ok with this, because we just wanted a light pastry and coffee. We ended up getting an iced coffee with mocha soy drizzle and a guava pie. The coffee was very sweet, which balanced out the light, fresh, crispness of the guava and nuts in the pie. We might come back to grab some actual breakfood food items next time! read more

This restaurant has to be the BEST breakfast spot in Monrovia! The food is delicious and the service is absolutely phenomenal! We were greeted by the hostess Genie that was very accommodating for my large party. The wait varies on the day and time but it is way less than what is expected which is GREAT! I definitely recommend coming early and with patience but it is worth the wait! Our waitress Joanna was also very friendly and attentive! I hope you guys love the pancakes as much as i did because it is delicious!!!!! read more

My wife and I were looking for a nice place near CoH to have breakfast this morning and happened upon Cafe de Olla in Monrovia. The place was busy (usually a good sign... ), so we put our names in and waited approx. 35 minutes to be seated. Gotta say that while we were waiting, I got bored and started browsing the menu on Yelp. It looked amazing! Then I scrolled down a little further and read the only review featured by Yelp on the main page, which was horrific. The only thing that stopped us from walking away to go somewhere else was the fact that the disparaging review was a year old and judging by how many people were waiting to be seated, must have been an anomaly. So we stayed, and I kept an open mind. Good call. The wait was absolutely worth it! My wife had the very berry Pancakes, and I had the Fajitas and Eggs plate. The food was great and it arrived quickly. Our waitress Afrodita was one of the friendliest and most attentive hostess' of any of the local places we have dined in Monrovia. The coffee was excellent too! read more

Sitting at the bar as the hostess was asking you. Good luck to find a server to serve you. Make sure you sit by the bench and turn towards the kitchen to get some attention. And hopefully The servers will spot you. Then after you see all the outside dining people table for clean people got seated after me. And they got their orders in first lol. What a joke. read more

So impressed with Cafe de Olla! To start off, the staff was so sweet, ready to help, and attentive. The restaurant itself looks polished and beautifully decorated, can't wait for the day we get to eat in person! We got a chipotle chicken sandwich and a sourdough pesto chicken. The chipotle chicken was the BEST chipotle chicken I've had, nice and spicy on a beautiful brioche bun! And HUGE with a great portion of fries for the price. The pesto chicken was also delicious! I'm not a huge fan of pesto, but this sandwich was something my boyfriend and I enjoyed! As for coffee, I ordered an iced cafe de olla, absolutely delicious. Keep in mind this is not just an iced coffee, it has some sweetness and a spice to it (horchata-like)! We'll be back again to try more food and desserts! read more

We moved from the valley a few months ago, I have my usual spot there that I missed to much. We decided to try this place, after one of my great friends recommended it. Today we came in and I can say that I might be out new favorite spot. Today, I ordered the poblano chilaquiles. They were delicious! They were severe with queso fresco , refried beans and over easy eggs. I've had green sauce before, but the poblano definitely gives it that extra flavor! My boyfriend ordered the churro waffle ... another great hit!! Soo fluffy and light and definitely not overly sweet. One thing that definitely made this experience so different, was their pan dulce cart. The young lady came by and asked if I wanted to get any pan today. I went for my favorite, the concha. Soo worth it! My toddler ended up eating half lol. Ruben was so nice and so patient since we took a bit to make our decision on our breakfast. We kinda tried to get out of there fast because my toddler can only sit still for a bit before he becomes impatient, but we never felt rushed or anything like that. read more

Great coffee!!! But the food is below average. The menu is large, my three (3) sit down food experience have been that I get literally fridge cool food when it should have been a hot plate. I gave them (2) additional chances then any other place, just because of their coffee! But, still they failed me. So I love their coffee and would recommend them for that ONLY, but never for the food. read more

Love this place. I have been going there since they opened in Monrovia. They are now serving dinner again and I have to say their breakfast is great but we went ahead and tried their dinner. I had pozole and I must say I am very picky with pozole but this was pretty good. I recommend it. The service is always great. Iced cafe de olla to go and walk downtown Monrovia which is nice at that time. Did I mention their desserts are also delicious, tres leches cake for me (Berry) read more

This was our first time! We had to wait for an hour and a half but, it was worth it! I asked for the chilaquiles divorciados and my hubby got the omelette de la casa...they were full served! The taste was amazing and the cafe de olla was espectacular! We had a great time and of course a fantastic service! We were so happy that they are doing so good! We love biz people that care for their customers as they did! Congrats to ALL at Cafe de Olla! Looking forward to came again! read more

The fries and salad are good, some other sides kinda feel like an afterthought, but the sides aren't the highlight here. I like the "roadside" nostalgic vibe inside, and the staff are nice. Some of the staff have been there for a long time and know a lot of the customers. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, and when Monrovia comes up in conversation, I always mention Jake's :)

Be sure to let them know to put the syrup on the side otherwise they combine it for you! The tofu was very soft, silky, and fresh. I was very relieved that the syrup wasn't too sweet since they combined it inside. The Soymilk ($4.25 - large) was very sweet and didn't have much of a soybean taste. It would have been better if it wasn't so sweet so I could taste more of the soybean. NOTE: they offer salty soymilk and soybean pudding but it's +$0.25 more than the sweet Soymilk and soybean pudding! The Peanut Milk ($4.25) was pretty good. It was very creamy and nutty! If you like peanut butter, then this is a must! It wasn't too sweet and it was very refreshing. Overall, I liked the soybean pudding more than the Soymilk and the prices were reasonable so I most likely will recommend and return!

Honestly, if the sushi was of higher quality, we would have finished it; the chef would be better off focusing on perfecting his craftsmanship behind the bar rather than interacting with customers. I won't be returning and cannot recommend this place. There are plenty of other options nearby where you can find better food, more reasonable prices, and, most importantly, be treated with respect. Let the front staff handle the guests; they clearly know what they are doing.

I had a great experience at Café De Olla before, so I decided to return, but this visit was frustrating and disappointing. I waited for over two hours on the Yelp waitlist but never received a text that my table was ready. When I checked with the front desk, I realized I had been dropped from the waitlist. The staff was kind enough to allow me to rejoin since I arrived within the 10-minute grace period, but how was I supposed to know when that period started if I never got a notification? The worst part was how the staff handled my concerns. I tried to explain that I never received a notification, but instead of listening, they kept interrupting and making assumptions. Even if it was a technical issue, they should have at least let me speak instead of brushing me off. If you join the Yelp waitlist, stay nearby and keep checking in with the front desk. Otherwise, you might wait hours for nothing. The sign for check-in is inside the restaurant, which isn't obvious, especially when many people are waiting outside. I tried the Machaca Con Huevo and Del Norte this time. The portions were perfectly sized, with no leftovers, but nothing mind-blowing--not worth a two-hour wait. The service from the waiter was kind, and the food came out quickly, but the ambiance was off. The music kept cutting in and out, and the restaurant was crowded. While the food and service were decent, the frustrating check-in process, lack of communication, and dismissive attitude of the front desk left a bad taste in my mouth. Warning: Eating at Cafe De Olla you will be kicked out of your table after eating. ASAP. They rush you out. Total Cringe. Not relaxing at all. I was still enjoying my conversation with friends, and beverage. Had just finished breakfast. Hostess grabbed my glasses with attitude. Later two waiters starting grabbing napkins from our table and more plates to rush us out. Didnt ask. There is no front sign that indicates you have to leave your table upon 75 minutes. No Poster. I checked by the hostess stand, and the cashier area and no signs that you have to leave your table within 75 minutes. We still had a few minutes left. The hostess was rude. There are no signs on front door glass that warn you. You will be hurried up after you get your check. Feels like you are at a cafeteria not a restaurant. Nothing notable or in large print to warn us ahead. Nothing on menu either to warn you that you will be rushed out. The stickers they post at your dining table are small. I never noticed it. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. Then after we were rushed out verbally. It felt intense and most of all mean. I asked for a manager who also serves as a busy food server. I mentioned, " you have so many empty tables, why are you rushing us out ? " That is our policy. This was not a Saturday or Sunday. They had soiled tables - they could have easily cleaned and set- up immediately. A way to lose business here. I had no clue this was "Fast Food" !!! Need training on customer service. I recently visited this restaurant and, unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. We were informed that if we chose outdoor seating, we would have to self-serve, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but it led to several inconveniences throughout our meal. One of the biggest disappointments was the attitude of the male cashier, who became noticeably unfriendly after we opted not to leave a tip--despite the fact that we were serving ourselves. A tip should reflect service, and in this case, very little was provided. Additionally, after receiving our food, we had to leave our seats multiple times to retrieve essentials like utensils and missing drinks. While self-serve can streamline some aspects, the lack of attentiveness made the experience frustrating. What made the situation even more perplexing was that despite being told self-service was required for outdoor seating, we noticed that other customers--particularly a group with a disruptive dog--were receiving service from a waitress. The dog's presence made the dining experience uncomfortable, adding to the overall frustration. The inconsistency in treatment made our experience feel unfair and poorly managed. Overall, the combination of poor service, missing items, and an unpleasant atmosphere made this visit disappointing. Café de Olla is one of the newest gems in Monrovia. We tried it a couple of weeks ago because my sister-in-law suggested it. We were not disappointed. The Machaca breakfast burrito is absolutely incredible. My wife tells me some of the other dishes (chiliquiles suizos, banatella pancakes, and the egg and spinach sandwich) are great as well, however I have yet to try them because I am stuck on that dang burrito. The namesake, Café de Olla, is also an incredible coffee drink. I normally take quite a bit of sugar and cream in my coffee but by the suggestion of the workers/owners I tried it without any fixings and it also was incredible. Oh, they make their own corn tortillas as well. Thick and delicious. We have gone back at least once a week since trying it, and each time the food outdoes itself and maybe even more importantly the staff is absolutely top notch: polite, informative and full of great suggestions and exude positivity and professionalism. I cannot recommend enough trying Café de Olla on Myrtle in Monrovia. I really do not think you will be disappointed. The food is great everything is great accept service been going for couple weeks now every Sunday but this pass 3 Sunday's service been real bad one when I got seat it down the table was to small I like to Oder lot of food so the people next to me left and was a bigger table I ask one of the front door people if I could move there she told me no because it was for 4 people seating and the next 2 minute she seated only 2 people i was like wow so not good the next Sunday the server that I got she never came to ask me if we where good or needed anything else other people where helping out and she came and said if you need anything ask me I was ok I was needing something never seen her at all even to get my bill to pay she didn't even came other people where great asking if I was good or needed anything but the person I got never seen her at all on 2 time that happen 2 times I don't know if she was new but she needs to be on top of her game if she wants to be a server or waitress but the place was good and the other waitress and servers where good I love the food there .. read more

I was with a small group eating breakfast (Monday). We spent over $85 and tipped generously. After we were presented our bill , the hostess immediately came up to our table, strong body language and rudely approached us. She told us we had to leave immediately. She stood staring at our small group to intimidate us. Hostess said, there is a 75 minute only time you can stay at your seat or booth. We were not here for all of 75 min. Next, hostess grabs my water glasses, and I was NOT done drinking my water. It felt aggressive. I noticed they were plenty of dirty and/ or empty tables, to focus upon, where by they could clean first. This was a Monday, breakfast and I noticed there were no large parties waiting. There was no need to bully my group, when we were still drinking coffee and enjoying dessert. I asked for a manager and she could only laugh at our concerns. Unprofessional. Unacceptable. There is no front signage at hostess stand, to indicate this. read more

I had an amazing experience at Cafe De Olla and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast spot! I ordered the Del Antojo the chilaquiles with verde sauce and it was absolutely delicious. The verde sauce was the perfect amount of spice and the chilaquiles were cooked to perfection--no soggy tortilla chips. The cafe de olla coffee was also amazing, and the fact that they offer free refills made the experience even better. The coffee had a rich and smooth flavor that paired perfectly with my breakfast. What really impressed me about this cafe, however, was their attention to detail. As a new parent, I was delighted to find out that they had a sling to hold my car seat while I enjoyed my meal. This made my experience so much more comfortable and enjoyable. The food did not disappoint! Every dish is bursting with flavor, and I'm always pleasantly surprised by just how delicious everything is. Whether it's the perfectly seasoned Divorciados or the melt-in-your-mouth chilaquiles, each bite feels like a little fiesta in my mouth. The wait time, however, can be a bit long, but I find it to be worth it every time. (I used YELP to join the waitlist!) The only downside to my experience was the cleaning spray they use--it has a very strong scent that's not exactly pleasant. It can be a bit off-putting, especially when you're trying to enjoy your meal. But aside from that, it's always a great spot for an amazing brunch in Downtown Monrovia. read more

The French toast Chilaquiles were a standout dish - the combination of sweet and savory flavors was delicious, and the texture of the French toast and Chilaquiles was just right. Having visited Cafe de Olla in the past and enjoyed the incredible food, we were excited to return. Previously, the service had room for improvement, but this time, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! Angie greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home, and Jacob was an outstanding server--attentive, friendly, and always making sure we had everything we needed. We were looking for a place to have a late breakfast/early lunch. My family and I have ate at a different location located in Burbank. The place was definitely up to our expectation. It was much bigger than the one in Burbank and it was clean and casual. The menu was great and had plenty of options. Everything we ordered was amazing. The waffles, the pancakes, and the french toast was spectacular. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was nice and crispy. Definitely a great place to eat out with the family! read more

Came here few months back and it is a bit late but I have to say the food here is lovely , we had the breakfast choice and do love the hint of spice added to the plate. It added to the taste palate. You could request for much milder if you do not like too much spice . I would recommended this place to friends and family. Thank you for the great service. read more
