Café De Olla is an authentic Mexican restaurant. The restaurant was clean and spacious. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu includes breakfast menu, pancakes, lunch menu, salads, sandwiches, burgers and more. I didn't stop by to dine in but to try their bakery. The staff were friendly. I chose a couple of pastries: -Mini Pecan Pie cookies - Strawberry Danish - Cubilete - Rebanada Choclatosa - Beso de Nutella The pastries were decadent and flavorful. - Maui Cake It's a tres Leches cake with tropical- coconut pineapple frosting filled with pineapple chunks. It was my favorite. For drinks, I tried Iced Café De Olla. It was okay. I will come back to dine in and try something savory from their menu.

Visited from out of town because of the reviews and it was definitely worth it! I love all of the chilaquiles sauce options, but by far my most favorite thing was the Concha French Toast! I thought it would be sweetness overload but it was amazing!!! Looking forward to going back next time we visit!

I've been a regular here at Cafe De Olla and I will say that the food never misses! The only thing that maybe was a little disappointing was that the espresso shots in my husband's cafe de olla tasted a little burnt, but other than that it was great service and great food! The vampiros are a delicious appetizer to share. The peanut butter French toast is so good!!! It's super heavy though but definitely one of the better sweet options on the menu. It wasn't too busy for a Sunday mid afternoon. One thing I noticed is that we were able to join the waitlist virtually which was nice! We haven't been able to that before when we've come many times so that was cool. Cant wait to come back!

Didn't try any of their coffee drinks, just ordered brunch food to share with my friend. The Churro Waffle is PHENOMENAL, would order it again without a doubt! Crispy, deeply rich cinnamon goodness, not too sweet, but also would be fantastic as a dessert waffle. Chorizo Burrito - good but not great, I've had better tasting burritos. I feel like there was solid amount of chorizo, yet needed more hash brown for a more balanced burrito. The hot orange red salsa was a perfect spicy kick to add on top. Customer service was solid enough, our server was attentive with asking if we wanted small plates for sharing our dishes. Though, she never refilled our water glasses during our brunch visit. I get they were super busy for a Sunday, but still it doesn't take long to refill waters lol. Since we put our name and phone number down around noon on a Sunday, we waited almost an hour on the Yelp waitlist for a party of 2 (which despite us being quite hungry for brunch, the time flew by since we were chatting and chilling at the nearby park). FYI, their Yelp waitlist can get filled to capacity on Sundays and when it does, the restaurant will temporarily disable it. So like we had to, you will have to walk in and write your name on their Yelp waitlist instead of using the Yelp app to do this.

Caffe Olla is a wow from the moment you sit down. The breakfast hits all the right notes the sweet bread cart is a standout, and the scrambled eggs and fresh fruit were simple but perfectly done. Service was outstanding, warm and attentive without missing a beat. And the mascarpone latte? Absolute perfection rich, smooth, and worth coming back for on its own. A spot that makes a simple breakfast feel special.

With their wide spectrum of Mexican & American dishes, Cafe de Olla is a cozy Mexican brunch spot in Old Town Monrovia that is sure to please many palates. There's a decent amount of seating within the restaurant, but definitely try to join the online waitlist if you are able to, as the queue can get quite long during peak hours. Throughout your meal, staff may come by with carts of pan dulce and tortas, like at dim sum places, which I found to be very unique at a brunch spot. I ordered their Azteca Chilaquiles, which comes with a red sauce over tortilla chips, eggs of your preferred style (I asked for over easy), refried beans, and rice, topped with cilantro/onions/queso fresco. For those that can't handle spice, the red sauce has quite the vibrant red hue, but I found it to be quite mild in heat. The ratio of sauce to chips was perfect for my liking, but make sure to eat your chips in a timely manner before they get soggy. I would suggest that the management replaces the clipboards with their current menus or revamps the structure of the menus entirely, as many of the clipboards at my table were broken and pages hanging only by one hole. The pages felt sticky and greasy, which was a bit off-putting for me.

Delicious food, my favorite is the poblano chilaquiles. Have only been here for breakfast and it gets busy so wake up early or join the waitlist on the way here! Must try!!

Great place for a solid Mexican breakfast/brunch. I would highly recommend making reservations prior your visit; especially on a weekend since it gets pretty crowded. Yelp offers the join waitlist so you can save a spot for your visit The place is buzzing with people and waiters, pretty busy all around and not quiet. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados which consist of the red and green chilaquiles side by side. It comes with a hefty side of refried beans topped with cheese and some rice. The dish over all is delicious and more than enough food for me. I also ordered cafe de olla which is coffee with cinnamon and sugar and to be honest, it was TOO sweet for me. I ended up asking the waiter if he could pour me some solid black coffee to go with it and he was kind enough to bring me a cup of black coffee to pour it in myself. After doing that, the cafe de olla was just right! The place is clean, including the restrooms even in such a busy place. The food comes out fast and they're attentive ensuring you are satisfied with your order. They have a cart with Mexican bread (a la dim sum). Depending on the bread you get, it will be added to your bill. We didn't have any issues finding street parking which was free.

Absolutely loved Cafe De Olla in Monrovia! I got there right when it opened so there was no wait. The restaurant was cozy and the staff were so nice and attentive. There were alot of breakfast selections but we settled for Steak & Eggs and the Ham & Cheese Omelette, both came with a side (hashed brown, fries or fruit), and choice of toast. Food tasted amazing. Will definitely add this to my regular go-to spot for breakfast.

4.8 stars for Cafe De Olla! We came here on a Saturday around 11 for a brunch/lunch. This place is popular and the wait was about 60 min so definitely take advantage of the Yelp Waitlist and check-in ahead of time to minimize your wait. Our experience was delightful. Everything tasted amazing, from the chilaquiles with the perfect spice kick and crunch factor to the creamy cafe de Olla. Servers were very friendly and vibes were great here. We will be back soon!~

January 2026 - Party of 2 on a Sunday around 1pm, 45 minutes wait. Food/Pricing - First time eating lunch here instead brunch food. The meat in the tacos were a bit dry and bland. The sauce had a nice kick and helped with the taste. Adding in the beans and rice into the tacos also made it less dry. Service/Ambiance - Service was prompt. A bit disappointed in my lunch choice but will likely be back for brunch. Parking - Plenty of street parking or public lots nearby.

Food was actually pretty good at this place BUT never go there in the summer they're ac "was working" but it really wasn't, on a 108 you need to eat at a restaurant who can accommodate they're guest with a working ac a fan would of been appreciated and service is ok the server seemed to have too many tables. read more

Love this place! The food is delicious and their cafe de olla is so GOOD! Furthermore, the cafe de olla has free refills! Their dishes are very filling and portions are enough to take leftovers with you. Now, I do have to say that I've been here 2x and the wait has been about an hour both times so I would recommend joining the waitlist from home. It's totally worth it. They make their pan dulce in house & tortillas hechas a mano too. Will be bringing my mom next! Its hard to find good authentic Mexican food when you have high standards. This place meets that goal. read more

Sitting at the bar as the hostess was asking you. Good luck to find a server to serve you. Make sure you sit by the bench and turn towards the kitchen to get some attention. And hopefully The servers will spot you. Then after you see all the outside dining people table for clean people got seated after me. And they got their orders in first lol. What a joke. read more

It's very discrete and loos like a small hole in the wall but when you have the coffee you're hooked. Not to mention the choices of food amazing., their El Paisano filled with machaca ( shredded beef) is spectacular and tender. There are a ton more. Just head on out and try it read more

We were walking around downtown Monrovia and saw a long line of people outside--so we wanted to check it out to see what all the hype was about! We went on a Saturday morning so perhaps this is why it was so busy (we don't know how busy it gets on a weekday, assuming less?). When we asked about the wait time for 2, they said 30-45 min. So we asked if we can sit at the counters by the windows, and they said yes but that we wouldn't be served--we were ok with this, because we just wanted a light pastry and coffee. We ended up getting an iced coffee with mocha soy drizzle and a guava pie. The coffee was very sweet, which balanced out the light, fresh, crispness of the guava and nuts in the pie. We might come back to grab some actual breakfood food items next time! read more

So impressed with Cafe de Olla! To start off, the staff was so sweet, ready to help, and attentive. The restaurant itself looks polished and beautifully decorated, can't wait for the day we get to eat in person! We got a chipotle chicken sandwich and a sourdough pesto chicken. The chipotle chicken was the BEST chipotle chicken I've had, nice and spicy on a beautiful brioche bun! And HUGE with a great portion of fries for the price. The pesto chicken was also delicious! I'm not a huge fan of pesto, but this sandwich was something my boyfriend and I enjoyed! As for coffee, I ordered an iced cafe de olla, absolutely delicious. Keep in mind this is not just an iced coffee, it has some sweetness and a spice to it (horchata-like)! We'll be back again to try more food and desserts! read more

This was our first time! We had to wait for an hour and a half but, it was worth it! I asked for the chilaquiles divorciados and my hubby got the omelette de la casa...they were full served! The taste was amazing and the cafe de olla was espectacular! We had a great time and of course a fantastic service! We were so happy that they are doing so good! My wife and I were looking for a nice place near CoH to have breakfast this morning and happened upon Cafe de Olla in Monrovia. The place was busy (usually a good sign... ), so we put our names in and waited approx. 35 minutes to be seated. Gotta say that while we were waiting, I got bored and started browsing the menu on Yelp. It looked amazing! Then I scrolled down a little further and read the only review featured by Yelp on the main page, which was horrific. The only thing that stopped us from walking away to go somewhere else was the fact that the disparaging review was a year old and judging by how many people were waiting to be seated, must have been an anomaly. So we stayed, and I kept an open mind. Good call. The wait was absolutely worth it! My wife had the very berry Pancakes, and I had the Fajitas and Eggs plate. The food was great and it arrived quickly. Our waitress Afrodita was one of the friendliest and most attentive hostess' of any of the local places we have dined in Monrovia. The coffee was excellent too! read more

For starters the food was very delicious, some minor faults in the food. We were a party of 9. When someone started taking our order he didn't have a pen and a note pad to take note of our drinks. my fiancé didn't get her drink . We assumed he forgot. As the food was coming out we all started eating. To notice one of our people didn't recurve her food until after we all finished, she was the first one to order. There were multiple times where we noticed they forgot a plate of a drink, maybe because they didn't have a notepad. Such a nice restaurant with good food but with little disappointments which makes an impact on your customers experience. read more

This is my go to spot for breakfast or brunch. Great service and amazing food. I always get the berry crispy and a hot cafe de olla. Prices are fair. The only downside is the waiting, it gets pack the later you go so I definitely recommend going early or getting on their waitlist. read more

I seriously don't understand how I ordered food around 10:50am arrived at 12:30 PM with a courtesy call that I'm on the way and the food is still not ready. This kind of service is not acceptable, I would've preferred that the staff let me know sorry were not accepting any take overs due to our workload. If you're planning to order Togo this is definitely not the place to order. Sorry I would've loved to give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

First time visiting this place, terrible service by Patty, she gave us attitude and ignored us a couple times. My girl found a hair on her food and she didn't even apologize. Food is tasty a bit expensive though, If you're paying that price for the food you expect at least good service. read more

The two ladies who helped us were incredibly attentive, kind, and kept checking on us. They offered extra drinks and multiple items, which we normally appreciate because when we go to Mexican restaurants we usually order multiple rounds and end with Cadillac margaritas. Unfortunately, the drinks were so bad we didn't want to order anything else, but their effort and service did not go unnoticed. One small disappointment was when I asked for hot sauce to add more flavor to my green sauce enchiladas, and I was brought the same red enchilada sauce instead, which made the meal worse. I am a food and beverage manager myself, and I can honestly say I would hire those two servers in a heartbeat because they were fabulous. The service was excellent -- it's just the food and drinks that really need improvement.

I had a great experience at Café De Olla before, so I decided to return, but this visit was frustrating and disappointing. I waited for over two hours on the Yelp waitlist but never received a text that my table was ready. When I checked with the front desk, I realized I had been dropped from the waitlist. The staff was kind enough to allow me to rejoin since I arrived within the 10-minute grace period, but how was I supposed to know when that period started if I never got a notification? The worst part was how the staff handled my concerns. I tried to explain that I never received a notification, but instead of listening, they kept interrupting and making assumptions. Even if it was a technical issue, they should have at least let me speak instead of brushing me off. If you join the Yelp waitlist, stay nearby and keep checking in with the front desk. Otherwise, you might wait hours for nothing. The sign for check-in is inside the restaurant, which isn't obvious, especially when many people are waiting outside. I tried the Machaca Con Huevo and Del Norte this time. The portions were perfectly sized, with no leftovers, but nothing mind-blowing--not worth a two-hour wait. The service from the waiter was kind, and the food came out quickly, but the ambiance was off. The music kept cutting in and out, and the restaurant was crowded. While the food and service were decent, the frustrating check-in process, lack of communication, and dismissive attitude of the front desk left a bad taste in my mouth. Warning: Eating at Cafe De Olla you will be kicked out of your table after eating. ASAP. They rush you out. Total Cringe. Not relaxing at all. I was still enjoying my conversation with friends, and beverage. Had just finished breakfast. Hostess grabbed my glasses with attitude. Later two waiters starting grabbing napkins from our table and more plates to rush us out. Didnt ask. There is no front sign that indicates you have to leave your table upon 75 minutes. No Poster. I checked by the hostess stand, and the cashier area and no signs that you have to leave your table within 75 minutes. We still had a few minutes left. The hostess was rude. There are no signs on front door glass that warn you. You will be hurried up after you get your check. Feels like you are at a cafeteria not a restaurant. Nothing notable or in large print to warn us ahead. Nothing on menu either to warn you that you will be rushed out. The stickers they post at your dining table are small. I never noticed it. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. Then after we were rushed out verbally. It felt intense and most of all mean. I asked for a manager who also serves as a busy food server. I mentioned, " you have so many empty tables, why are you rushing us out ? " That is our policy. This was not a Saturday or Sunday. They had soiled tables - they could have easily cleaned and set- up immediately. A way to lose business here. I had no clue this was "Fast Food" !!! Need training on customer service. I recently visited this restaurant and, unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. We were informed that if we chose outdoor seating, we would have to self-serve, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but it led to several inconveniences throughout our meal. One of the biggest disappointments was the attitude of the male cashier, who became noticeably unfriendly after we opted not to leave a tip--despite the fact that we were serving ourselves. A tip should reflect service, and in this case, very little was provided. Additionally, after receiving our food, we had to leave our seats multiple times to retrieve essentials like utensils and missing drinks. While self-serve can streamline some aspects, the lack of attentiveness made the experience frustrating. What made the situation even more perplexing was that despite being told self-service was required for outdoor seating, we noticed that other customers--particularly a group with a disruptive dog--were receiving service from a waitress. The dog's presence made the dining experience uncomfortable, adding to the overall frustration. The inconsistency in treatment made our experience feel unfair and poorly managed. Overall, the combination of poor service, missing items, and an unpleasant atmosphere made this visit disappointing. A little more attentiveness and consistent customer care could have made a world of difference. The stars given were for the food. read more

Came here for breakfast with my family and honestly, everything was so good. The food came out hot, fresh, and tasted amazing. The portions were great, and the whole place just had a really nice, welcoming vibe. My favorite dishes were definitely the machaca and the chilaquiles both were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. And I have to mention the cafe de olla.. it was so good! It was the perfect way to start the morning and paired perfectly with breakfast. If you're not sure what to order, I highly recommend all three because they definitely did not disappoint. The best part of our visit was definitely our waitress, Monica. She was super sweet, always had a smile on her face, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Our drinks were never empty, she checked in on us at the perfect times, and made us feel like she actually cared that we were having a good experience instead of just doing her job. It's hard to find customer service like that these days, and she honestly made our breakfast even better. You can tell she enjoys what she does, and it really shows. Café de Olla is one of the newest gems in Monrovia. We tried it a couple of weeks ago because my sister-in-law suggested it. We were not disappointed. The Machaca breakfast burrito is absolutely incredible. My wife tells me some of the other dishes (chiliquiles suizos, banatella pancakes, and the egg and spinach sandwich) are great as well, however I have yet to try them because I am stuck on that dang burrito. The namesake, Café de Olla, is also an incredible coffee drink. I normally take quite a bit of sugar and cream in my coffee but by the suggestion of the workers/owners I tried it without any fixings and it also was incredible. Oh, they make their own corn tortillas as well. Thick and delicious. We have gone back at least once a week since trying it, and each time the food outdoes itself and maybe even more importantly the staff is absolutely top notch: polite, informative and full of great suggestions and exude positivity and professionalism. I cannot recommend enough trying Café de Olla on Myrtle in Monrovia. I really do not think you will be disappointed. Finally checked Café de Olla off my brunch list, & I'm so glad we stopped by! I've been eyeing this spot for a while, & it definitely lived up to the hype. To drink, I ordered the Horchata Latte! It was a little stronger than my usual preference (since I'm not a coffee drinker), but our server was so nice & brought me extra horchata to mix in, which made it absolutely perfect. We also tried the refreshing cucumber agua fresca, & it was so light & refreshing on these hot days! For brunch, I went with the Machaca con Huevo served with warm corn tortillas, & it was perfect, exactly what I was hoping for. We also had to order the Berry Banana French Toast, & it was the perfect way to balance out our meal. Having something savory followed by something sweet is always the move. One of my favorite little touches? They serve fresh conchas tableside, which made the whole experience feel even more special. I was with a small group eating breakfast (Monday). We spent over $85 and tipped generously. After we were presented our bill , the hostess immediately came up to our table, strong body language and rudely approached us. She told us we had to leave immediately. She stood staring at our small group to intimidate us. Hostess said, there is a 75 minute only time you can stay at your seat or booth. We were not here for all of 75 min. Next, hostess grabs my water glasses, and I was NOT done drinking my water. It felt aggressive. I noticed they were plenty of dirty and/ or empty tables, to focus upon, where by they could clean first. This was a Monday, breakfast and I noticed there were no large parties waiting. There was no need to bully my group, when we were still drinking coffee and enjoying dessert. I asked for a manager and she could only laugh at our concerns. Unprofessional. Unacceptable. I had an amazing experience at Cafe De Olla and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast spot! I ordered the Del Antojo the chilaquiles with verde sauce and it was absolutely delicious. The verde sauce was the perfect amount of spice and the chilaquiles were cooked to perfection--no soggy tortilla chips. The cafe de olla coffee was also amazing, and the fact that they offer free refills made the experience even better. The coffee had a rich and smooth flavor that paired perfectly with my breakfast. What really impressed me about this cafe, however, was their attention to detail. As a new parent, I was delighted to find out that they had a sling to hold my car seat while I enjoyed my meal. We were looking for a place to have a late breakfast/early lunch. My family and I have ate at a different location located in Burbank. The place was definitely up to our expectation. It was much bigger than the one in Burbank and it was clean and casual. The menu was great and had plenty of options. Everything we ordered was amazing. I started out with the Coughlin's Law cocktail (Aviation gin, house infused vanilla syrup, fresh lemon, egg white, lavender bitters, $16). It was a good light drink with light vanilla and lemon flavor. I always love a good foam top too. She started out with a Basil Paloma (Herradura silver tequila, muddled basil & grapefruit, fresh grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, seltzer, $15). It had good grapefruit and basil flavor, and was nicely balanced. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14). The cauliflower was supposed to be grilled, but it seemed almost raw. The buffalo sauce definitely had a good kick. For my entrée, I had the Black Angus Basin Burger (manchego cheese, carmelized onions, arugula, special sauce, brioche bun, $19). The burger was excellent. The cheese, carmelized onions, and arugula was a great flavor combo. The fries were good, but I'd order them more crispy next time. She had the two taco plate with fish and potato tacos ($15). The taco shells were freshly fried, and it was a filling plate that she enjoyed.
