Such a cute and unexpected gem in Riverwoods! The place is modern and bright with lots of seating and tables and a ton of natural light. They brew Columbe coffee, have oat milk as a dairy sub (love!), have a good selection of teas, non caffeine drinks and pastries. The almond crossaint is perfection! Butter, crispy, almonds. I love the atmosphere at this location. The dining area is spacious and open with lots of natural light from big windows and comfortable couches. There's a cooler right by the door stocked with a few cold bottled coffee drinks, sub-par bagels, and assorted dairy products. At first glance, this along with the items in the pastry case would appear to be all that's offered as far as food goes. It turns out there's actually a whole menu of savory items that is easy to miss because it's on a teeny tiny board next to the pastry case. It's almost like management doesn't want patrons to see this menu. I don't drink coffee, but my wife says the coffee is good. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Cafe de Oro is conveniently located next to some big businesses in the area. It's not a"neighborhood" place, and is weirdly located next to a gas station. I originally decided to check it out after finding out they had most (or even all?) Jeni's ice cream flavors. Came in to get a few tubs for home. The interior is really cute, and a few people were working/chilling. They had all kinds of coffee drinks available. I was excited when I saw they had the syphon coffee machine! However, when I asked the 2 young people working the counter to make me a coffee in the syphon thing, they both said they don't know how. Hope they have learned it by now! Finally tried this spot this morning - so far so good! I only visited the drive-thru, but had quick, friendly service. I ordered a large, black medium roast and an almond croissant. The coffee was a little pricier, but you're paying for great quality coffee (I think they brew La Colombe). This is probably the only place in the area with nicer coffee like this, which I appreciate. The croissant was a tad small for the price, but tasted great. Next time I'm hoping to actually go in and try some more substantial food. Excited to have more options in this area. read more

This is the best coffee house in the area by far. Their iced vanilla latte is perfection and they offer a variety of coffee making options such as French press. Their pastries are ok but nothing special. The draft drinks are excellent but not my preference. I agree with the other reviews mentioning that they need to find a way to leave out milk and cream condiments like every other shop. Think that'll come as they grow. Finally, they offer an oat milk that I fell in love with, try it!! If Cafe De Oro continues to make drinks like they have been and keep great staff (like Corey) I believe they will be very successful! read more

This cafe is spacious with comfy couches and lots of sunlight. I was however disappointed in my soy mocha I ordered. I didn't taste any chocolate and the espresso tasted a little overroasted. Everyone working here was very nice which is a plus. If I were to return I would probably try a different drink. read more

Ok I'm literally here all the time and can't believe I haven't written a review yet. I'm a huge independent coffee shop lover, and this is exactly what the suburbs have been missing. They brew delicious La Colombe beans - I personally love Fishtown. I also love their lattes and the personal touch on everything. The staff is great and will explain anything and everything to you if you have any questions. From the pastries and sandwiches which are all made in-house to the personal teapots and top-notch service, there is nothing to complain about! I study in here as there is a lot of space, reliable wifi, and natural light. If you're looking for a bite to eat, I swear they put crack on the chicken tikka sandwich because I'm obsessed. This is a tip notch place to grab a cup o' joe. Very spacious and bright with plenty of comfy seating. The staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable. The coffee is excellent, and they even offer stellar non-dairy options (including oat milk!). Looking forward to making this a regular pit stop. read more

Well, I'm a Riverwoods resident and I do support small independent businesses. I used the drive through they have, which is very convenient and not that many small coffee shops have, to order a cold brew (pure black) and an iced decaf coffee. The total for those two... $8.37!! It is pretty pricey but I'm okay for paying for a quality product, what I don't like is that they never told me the total of the order and when I got the receipt, the decaf was charged a Large classic latte!!! Both drinks were supposed to be 16oz but the iced decaf was 12oz. So, good coffee but they are charging whatever they want and you need to keep an eye on the receipt! I'm not sure I will go back there. Disappointed. read more

This new hip and fresh joint is serving up some very unique twists on coffee scene and food. The food is frat and foremost fresh. They have a killer scone and croissant. They have all the perks of a coffee shop in a very scenic interior. I loved my visit and had so many great conversations with the staff and allowed me to try new things on the menu like the nitro and matcha options. Love the ambiance and the drinks and the people. This is a great up-and-coming coffee shop that is located right off of I-94. The owner is very enthusiastic and interested in all of the customers. I particularly enjoy the cold draft latte with oat milk. The baristas give great recommendations and are always willing to make another drink if you are not satisfied with the current one. This is one of those secretly outstanding places. Might I add BEST coffee on the North Shore!!! No artificial flavors and sugary syrups and the coffee does NOT have that burnt taste like some other "corporate" places I might mention. Just REAL coffee and great quality! Just a few natural essential flavors instead of a menu with a thousand ridiculous choices. Prices are a tad high especially since I love that oat milk but I'll pay it cause this place and these people are worth it. I bought some boxed coffee to stay in for a few weeks and the dude ground it up for me. Now I have Cafe De Oro at home and it beats anything I can buy at the grocery store. Ok so maybe I'm a bit prejudice but La Colombe coffee has been my favorite coffee for a while now. I love the cans of vanilla draft you can find at your local grocery. Little did I know that there was an actually coffee shop that brewed La Colombe coffee AND has the draft on tap!! Needless to say, I loved it. 10/5 stars. I ordered a sugar free, brown sugar (seriously) latte w/ oat milk and it was BEYOND good. La Colombe is top quality and rich without being bitter, which is hard to find. I could go on forever about how great it is but honestly just try it out for yourself. When I saw a drive-thru I began to question if it was even going to be good coffee. Don't doubt, it's worth it. Also the service was surprisingly great? The girls were super nice and I wish I lived closer because I'd be here everyday. read more

My office is next door to the original Intelligentsia coffee shop in Chicago, where my coffee is always free. I am a cold brew fanatic, and have been finding that theirs has a burnt, impure taste to it. I am a huge fan of La Colombe and have been trying to find a vendor in the suburbs. As of yesterday, I have abandoned my free coffee's in trade off for Cafe De Oro's Black & Tan draft. Their coffee is smooth, aromatic and easy to drink. I have yet to go inside, but it was great that the drive-thru barista, Corey, greeted me with a good morning and made it a more personable experience by telling me his name before taking my order. Awesome place, hope it keeps growing and doing well. I will definitely be back! read more

Cafe De Oro can't decide if it is a coffee shop or food cafe. We live nearby and we were so excited when it opened last summer. We originally started going there multiple times a week. Initially we factored that they were new and overlooked the poor service. A year later and it's actually gotten worse. They serve La Colombe Coffee, which is really their only redeeming quality. This coffeehouse is a gem! They get everything right: the coffees, the teas, the pastries, the savories, the ambience, and the service. I often go here during the work week to get a change of scene while I toil away on my computer. The manager, Yash, couldn't be more welcoming, and his staff extend that same brand of hospitality. I always leave with a smile. And sometimes, I take advantage of the drive-through so I can get on with my errands. In the cafe or on the go--they've got us covered. I have been in many coffeehouses in different states over the years, so I can tell you that this one is gold standard. I won't always be living close by, and I'll miss it when I leave. I literally stood at the counter for several minutes while two workers 'didn't see me' so I sat down for a few mins hoping they would approach me then stood back up and watched them chat for several minutes with the customer at the drive thru window. I called the cafe on my cell while standing directly in front of the two employees and after they let the phone ring a few times they started walking towards it so I hung up and only then they approached me. I think it had been 10 minutes of waiting in a empty cafe before I was acknowledged. The worker was super pleasant to me when he finally took my order but really I just wanted my latte. I saw them do something similar with other customers who walked in and they literally avoided eye contact and immediately walked into the back until they were ready to help them. Weird vibe here! (After I wrote this i saw another review that said the same thing)! Two stars because they are open and the inside is comfortable to sit in during covid. I prefer the Starbucks lattes and their eagerness to take your order. read more

Great coffee in a bright, clean, and comfortable space. Lots of tables for work or conversation plus a few couches for relaxing. Plenty of natural sunlight gives a bright and airy vibe. The coffee itself is outstanding: fresh, skillfully roasted, and flavorful. Drinks "for here" are served in coffee mugs rather than to-go cups, which is a big plus for me.
