While dining outside on 2/19/2022, a couple arrived with a small dog. They were seated at a table across & behind us. Fifteen minutes later, they placed the dog on a chair next to them. I went inside to talk to one of the owners (I didn't get this name) who is a tall large man. I mentioned that according to PBC codes, dogs (any and all animals, including service animals) are not allowed to sit in customer chairs. His response was "I guess I'll have to check with my lawyer about that." Please, DON'T throw the "lawyer card" at anyone who is telling you the truth. "According to the dog-dining rules for restaurants in unincorporated parts of Palm Beach County, dogs must be leashed at all times and can't sit on tables or chairs. We arrived for dinner around 5pm. Greeted with a friendly face. Owner hard at work getting ready for the dinner service. Chef Winston came out and said hello. We had a nice appetizer of Calamari that hit the spot. Followed by delicious bread and salads. I had the special of the evening a Mahi dish and my husband had a four course meal on the early dining menu. Food was amazing. Service was spot on. Just had lunch at Cafe Frankie's. Was recommended by a friend and wow the food is out of this world. When we first sat down we were greeted with a wonderful waiter. We talked to him for a bit and ordered some food. I ordered wings and my friend ordered a salad and meatballs, just to mention he's Italian. Anyways in five minutes our food was here. It was hot and fresh. After the beautiful meal we ordered zeppolies as desert and there was enough for four people to have two. We tried it based on a recommendation, sadly it was a one and done. Inside was a bit cold, almost every table is under an AC vent unless you sit in one of the tiny tables in the middle so we sat outside. There are multiple waitstaff that take care of your table...they give you a nice visual sample dish of each of the specials for the night. We ordered the little neck clams oreganata, ceasar salad, soup, Linguine w White Cclam Sauce, and Chicken Parm and asked for garlic n oil capellini for the side pasta. Another gal came to take our order a few minutes later after we had placed our order already. The soup and salad come out, and then immediately the clams came out. She looks confused to bring it out because we just had gotten our salads and she asked if we asked for everything at the same time...no we had not. The salad might have been the best part of our meal. I looked at the clams and started to laugh, I honestly thought it was a joke. They were slightly bigger than my thumb nail...seriously! The ten combined might have been equivalent to maybe 3 normal little neck clams for $12. We called the waitress over and stated that these weren't little necks, they were baby clams. She stated that's the normal size and offered to send them back. The chicken Parm had a bit of an odd taste, lacked sauce and was dry. The linguine had about 8 minus one (it hadn't opened fully) of the same baby clams and lacked substance and flavor. We get the bill and we see they charged us for the clams oreganata and we asked what a $4 charge was for. Ooh...it's an upcharge for the tiny side pasta of garlic and oil capellini that came with the chicken Parm. The ceasar salad and Frankie the parrot might be the only things worth mentioning. What a find! Hidden on Ocean ave before the bridge is this unpretentious authentic Italian cafe with a decent menu of pastas and seafood. Had dinner last night at @Cafe Frankie's in Boynton Beach. As usual, they did not disappoint. The staff was warm and welcoming and performed with their usual excellence and efficiency. Started with a Caesar salad which could have used a little more garlic and anchovy. This was followed by the night's special of Citrus Roast Duck with a berry sauce. This was accompanied by cauliflower, yellow rice and fried shallots. There was a small piece of duck that had no sauce which I immediately tasted. Crisply roasted and well seasoned. This would have been great by itself but was complemented by an excellent berry sauce. That put it over the top. The duck was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The entreé was followed by a Puff Pastry Napoleon. This was simply layers of puff pastry, fresh whipped cream and seasonal berries. What can I say. How do you beat a meal like this. My Mom apparently had been here a couple of times in the past when she came down from Rhode Island. It's a cute Italian place that's low key, offers large portions and some killer desserts -- the latter I did not have on this particular evening. We sat outside where behind me perched on on a stand was a parrot. It was a nice night to enjoy the outside seating as we were presented with dishes that were the specials of the day, which included the sausage and broccoli rabe for an appetizer (wrapped in wanton skin and fried), breaded pork chop parmesan, and raviolis stuffed with crab in a tomato cream sauce... the latter two were entrees, and all of which we ordered and were definitely filling. My favorite was the pork chop parmesan, which was so tasty and flavorful. It sent my endorphins into the sky. The sausage and broccoli rabe wanton roll (It was called something similar) was solid but I had to stop eating them or else I would have gotten full. The ravioli was ok. Didn't think the sauce was that great, but you can't win them all. I liked the house wine, and the desserts looked amazing so I will be coming back for that. We had our first meal at Cafe Frankie's and really enjoyed it. We will be back. We were four people, but three generations at the table. We went for the pizza and the crusts were superb. Very New York style with a lot of air in a crispy crust. Also, at the table--some nice salads, and one blackened salmon entree that came with huge piles of cheesy potatoes and broccoli. Very, very friendly staff that really seemed to love the place and care a lot about it. The chef spoke to us several times to see how we were liking what we could see him making for us right over the counter. The atmosphere was relaxed and generous. My friends and I went here for lunch today. We've been here before, a little over a year ago, and it was good. The place looked very clean, but I have to say that everything else was underwhelming. The food was mediocre at best. The service was very weak, albeit the girl was obviously new and knew very little about service.
