Fast forward a year later and our dining group meets there again. This time I arrive early and go straight to the bar so that I can verify the happy hour policy. The bartender confirms that martinis are not on happy hour then explains that the additional surcharge is because a Cosmo has a splash of cranberry juice, so it's martini price plus. Never heard this before. I cheaped out and ordered a house pinot grigio. Regarding food, the visit a year ago was profoundly disappointing. That entree was described as pasta with a lobster tail. I expected to see a lobster tail but there were just a couple of very tiny pieces of supposed lobster tail that must have come from a just hatched lobster. My drink order was taken and delivered quickly, and when I asked for a menu recommendation, the staff guided me toward their signature crab fried rice -- and I am so glad they did. This dish is unlike anything I've had at any Thai restaurant, and I've had crab fried rice at quite a few. The blend of ingredients Tigress uses is truly special.
