When a friend suggested that we grab late night desserts at Intermezzo, this certainly was not what I was expecting. Having seen the small shop at Hartsfield Airport, I was anticipating a cute coffee shop with desserts. Instead, I walked into a major late night dessert operation. The place was packed both on the large patio as well as inside and there were no signs of it slowing down. I love hot chocolate and they had a variety of offerings - raspberry, truffle, white chocolate. Given that it's Fall, I asked if they could create a pumpkin hot chocolate and without any issue, our server whipped one up for me. After ordering our drinks, we went up to the dessert case and got the run down on the cakes, cheesecakes, and tortes. They had every flavor that you could imagine. I asked for red velvet cheesecake but unfortunately, they had over sold it so my second choice was the pumpkin spice cake. The cake was soft and moist and the cream cheese icing was rich and creamy. Although the pieces were large, everything there was definitely overpriced. Nearly $9 for a slice of cake??? But, it was obvious that the customers didn't mind paying those prices as the cakes were flying off of the shelves. If you want small or large bites to eat before your meal, they offer a limited food menu as well. Check out Cafe Intermezzo if you're open to paying more than what dessert is worth (-1 star) and if you don't have any time constraints (-1 star) - as the service is not swift - this is a good option for a leisurely girls night or for a date. We were very pleased with our visit. We had tomato basil pasta with petite salmon, tomato basil pasta with grilled chicken and chicken salad on croissant. All three were great, the pasta was clean and fresh, pasta cooked perfectly Al dente. My wife and I shared the tiramisu cheesecake which was as good as we had ever eaten. Sat outside, and we're it not for the humid conditions, would have been perfect. Service was spot on and ambience was very good. A winner. You can find this location of Cafe Intermezzo at 4505 Ashford Dunwoody Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30346, the Park Place shopping center across from the Perimeter Mall. Other restaurants in the same mall include the very good tapas at Eclipse di Luna (across the courtyard), steaks at McKendrick's, Sage Woodfire Grill and of course Alon's Bakery. The location on Peachtree was one of my favorite hangouts when I first came to Atlanta in the late 80's - it was always good for an after dinner nightcap, perhaps a dessert and/or a cup of espresso or cappuccino. I discovered this location while working as a chef at the now defunct Mi Spia which originally was a few doors down in Park Place. Intermezzo was always there to provide a different experience from the places where I worked, and since it was so close I would frequent the bar after work or stop in for coffee before. Intermezzo is about as close to a real international cafe as you will find in Atlanta - the interior is lavish with wood and chandeliers, the dining area lush and the bar expansive. The place reeks of old-world-charm and is simply perfect for a late rendezvous or tête-à-tête. This place also has a phenomenal adult drink list and expert bartenders and I still haven't gotten to the desserts.They also serve a good brunch and have an expansive lunch menu. But really, you need to experience Cafe Intermezzo for the desserts. The assortment and styles of classic cakes, tarts, cheesecakes and pies is truly astounding. Combine any of these with the great coffee or fine cocktail and you have a winning combination. I don't have any favorites - actually I'm trying to cut down a bit - but I did order a double cappuccino the last time I visited. Service in general is very good - seating can be a bit of a bear, especially early evenings and if you want to enjoy the outdoors. Otherwise the service here is very good. I've been a fan of this place since the day I found it years back. It never seem to disappoint me when I visit. Coffee & Teas: Wide-selection and tasty coffee. I've tried more of the milk/shlag based coffee and they're amazingly good. Try Cubano Latte or the Cocciccino Bianco (spelling may be off-excuse me). My taste has gotten heavier though and off the sugar. I recently visited and got the Cafe Beethoven. I don't know if they made it wrong, but it was overly sweetened with the honey. I sent it back to ask for more coffee to balance it out, but it was still too sweet. Maybe my taste buds, but they re-made a new one less sweetened and it tasted perfect. But I wouldn't recommend that drink in particular. Desserts: Love their cheesecake. Tira Misu all the way! I've also tried their Red Velvet, which is pretty tasty. Food: I've never tried it here, but I see this place more of a coffee and dessert spot so I'll maybe try it one day. read more

Visited Mid- may for a brunch with some girlfriends for a reunion. The aesthetics of this restaurant is top notch. The outdoor portion is mostly covered with a few tables along the gate. Inside, there is bar portion and booth seating options as well. We opted for outdoor seating. We ordered mimosa for drinks, and for food we had two orders of the croque madame, avocado toast and smoked salmon. The food was top notched and full of flavor. They don't disappoint me. The food is good and so is the coffee. A little pricy so don't expect to spend less that $15. I usually get breakfast so I can't speak to the dinner items. I had the southern breakfast which was about $12. The chicken sausage is decent. A little too tough and grisly for me but it's ok. The eggs were fluffy and delicious, I should have added cheese. The potatoes seemed to be steamed or boiled then thrown in the oven for a slight crispness on the outside. Perfect. The coci bianco is my favorite coffee drink and it is $5 and some change. Super small mug but it's tasty. It features white chocolate morsels on top and then your stir them to melt into the espresso. Mmmmmm. They also offer "real food" such as salads and sandwiches for those who want to grab a meal here as well. The ambience is very romantic and intimate. It's a nice place for dates or catching up with friends. However, it is quite dim here as well. For a bunch of mid-20 year olds, my friends and I held an iphone flashlight to see our menus. haha. Go to the Midtown location, don't waste your time here. We kept getting dirty glasses/plates, and after-bringing that up, they switched them out and they were STILL dirty. So we had to bring it to their attention AGAIN. We had a trainee serve us and the trainer never checked up on us. We saw the trainer server attending every other of her tables and not once did she check up on our table. Actually she only came to check my expired ID, other than that she never came back. Even though we were trying to make eye contact with her to ask for more water, it seemed like she would just turn the other way. They took forever to take our food order, once we got our drinks we said we were ready to order. The trainee said she was going to wait on the trainer. This is my second time at Cafe Intermezzo and my First time I had a pleasant experience but it was with a smaller party. They sat us outside in the heat. It was super uncomfortable. I'm not sure if that's just where they sit large parties or what, but it's not ideal in this summer heat. Nonetheless our server Thaddeus was pretty accommodating to our group. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and pasta salad. My table mate ordered the naan and lox and chicken jambalaya. My chicken salad was pretty good and so was the pasta salad. I also enjoyed the naan and lox! The chicken jambalaya was so bland. It was a disrespect to Cajun culture to have jambalaya be so flavorless. I invited another couple to join me and my girl friend for dinner at Cafe Intermezzo - Dunwoody location last night. We arrived at 6:30 PM and were seated immediatley by the hostess. We requested a table in the back corner so that it would be quiet and we would be able to talk. Four hours later we left and were full to the brim of great food, drink, talk, expresso/coffees and the best desserts. The total experience was outstanding in particular our server, Nyasia, who answered all our questions and provided outstanding service. I'm a huge fan. My sister recommended Cafe Intermezzo, given she's been to one of their locations, and I've heard of it but never had to the chance to dine there. We sent to the one in Dunwoody today across from Perimeter Mall for brunch, and fell instantly in love with the spot. It has an upscale, casual fell, almost similar to a New York City bistro. The waiter was very attentive and gave excellent recommendations on the menu. They are requiring masks, but we had no wait. I ordered the Salmon with Broccolini that usually also comes with Gnocchi but the waiter recommended potatoes with that option instead, and I did. Excellent recommendations, because the entire dish was well-seasoned, well-prepared, and simply fantastic. When you come to Cafe Intermezzo, you have to have dessert. They have a variety of wonderful cheesecakes, and the one to get is the Pumpkin-flavored Cheesecake which was rich, generous, and perfect for the fall. This is the spot in the Perimeter to head to with a friend or loved one for a deliciously scrumptious meal in a relaxed and elegant environment for some truly well-done food and exquisite desserts. Visited tonight and was so disappointed. We ordered 2 coffees and a dessert only. We placed our order and 30 mins after just waiting we asked the bartender about the status and she quickly ran to the computer and said it was on its way ( I can only assume she forgot to put the order in), we watched as everyone around us were served and refilled..etc. The 2 female bartenders chatted along and snuck in a few shots behind the counter. I asked again if we could just have the slice of cake in the meanwhile and she said it was coming. The. One coffee came in a semi shattered glass. Pieces were falling off it. Btw the hot coffee was semi cold. We pointed.at the glass and she came over and poured it in a new glass without being concerned about the shards. The second coffee appeared about 5 minutes later and I asked about the cake and they said it was on its way....I then walked over to the other side where the cake display is at and asked a person working back there about it and she looked and pointed at the end of the counter where cakes are placed for the staff to deliver and told me that it had been ready for a while now she then said let me ask your server/bartender to take if for you. I sat back down and then came the dessert. Bartender never apologized for the long delay or anything, didn't even say a word as we.paid, instead she focused.on chatting with the other bartender.
