It got busy around 6pm, so we got lucky and didn't have any issues with service or waiting long for our food and drinks! We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip, Italian bruschetta, and the Nutella banana crepe. The dip was okay for me, not my type of food but my friend loved it. It came with lots of bread which was great! The Italian bruschetta was super on point! I wish that there was some way the bread wouldn't be so soggy, but it's understandable as it is very flavorful and had lots of tomatoes and seasonings on top. Definitely recommend! On January 14 2024 me and my daughter decided to give this place a chance from the reviews we arrived close to closing time( in which staff did not inform us of because we would have left & never patronized them ) they gave us a 30 min wait for a table then once we sat down to order food came out cold then once server was asked to assist we were told the kitchen how convenient especially with cold "hot chocolate " was closed !our tab was 83.00 in which included a tip staff was contacted the next day "alexa " she stated she would refund our money! First time at this specific location, but I'm always going to the Midtown location. With that being said I was sad to see that they didn't offer as large of a variety on the teas as the midtown location does. I was also disappointed at the size of the cheesecake since it seems the midtown location provides larger portions that the Dunwoody location. Thoroughly disappointed :( I have fond memories of frequenting Cafe Intermezzo (the old Buckhead location) while in college. I loved the desserts and the coffee selections. Cafe Intermezzo has gone downhill since then.. My family and I (group of 5) arrived for brunch around 1pm on Sunday. Parking was easy since it is in a strip mall. The restaurant was maybe half full when we got there. We were seated immediately. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our coffees. My sister ordered a ~$7 hazelnut hot chocolate that was COLD when it arrived.. I will say that I got the french press coffee which was great! We placed our food order right around 1:30pm and it did not arrive until 2:45pm. Waiting an hour and 15 minutes for your brunch is quite ridiculous. The service at this place is lacking and that is a huge understatement. You could hear the chatter of the tables around us.. everyone seemed frustrated with the wait. The staff were not apologetic. The restaurant was not even full! I was expecting an apology from either our server or the manager. Or perhaps a discount on our check, complimentary coffee.. or SOMETHING to smooth things over. This did not happen. It seems like the hold up is in the kitchen. This is a bit surprising for a restaurant that has been around for over a decade. I ordered french toast which was OK. I paid extra for walnuts on top and of course they forgot the walnuts.. My husband ordered the spicy tortellini which was decent but a bit overpriced (~$20) for what you get. As a coffee lover, I highly recommend this place. I have been looking for a coffee place that sells large cups of coffee at a reasonable price and I have finally found this at Cafe Intermezzo. I had the Cafe Intermezzo, which was absolutely delicious! There are hints of almond in every sip you take and more almonds on the side if you want to put some more into your coffee. I highly recommend this place for a first date or just a nice casual place to enjoy good coffee! Update: I went here with a friend not too long ago to grab drinks and desserts. If it did not already become apparent that I am a BIG fan of this place, let me sell you a little bit more on why you should go here: 1. Coffee alcohol mixed drinks - you can get more than just a chocolatini or an expresso martini here. I got one with a hazelnut liqour that your pour into your coffee at your own leisure! 2. When arriving to the café, we easily got a table for six because there were not a lot of customers there for lunch. Let me make it clear, there were not a lot of customers there. Maybe 4-5 other tables taken. However, it still took 15 minutes for our waitress to come to our table. Another 10 minutes for someone to approach us at the cake case to gives us the "cake tour." It took 15 minutes for our coffee orders to come in, and one of my guests did not even receive the milk that she ordered, nor was it ever clear that our waitress either forgot or didn't ring it up nor did she even apologize for not bringing it. Another 30 minutes to receive our cakes after ordering (might I add, all that has to be done is cut and place on plate). At that point, we asked for our appetizers (spinach artichoke dip, baked brie, and a 3-meat charcuterie board) that we had already ordered because it was already passed the time that we needed to leave the café to go back to the office, and we were told that it was still being prepared. We believe that our waitress was training because there was another waitress with her at all times. At one point, we waved our waitress down to come to us, looked straight at my guest, and went straight to another table. We then asked for a manager, but even getting the manager to come over to us took 10-15 minutes, and we had to ask for him multiple times from several different people. The manager did apologize for being short-staffed on that day and gave us a discount, and ensured us that our 3-meat charcuterie will be packaged for us to go. We waited and waited, and it still didn't show up. We got up to leave and asked another waitress if she's able to check on our charcuterie because our waitress was not in sight. We were beyond late to get back to the office at this point that we just decided to leave. As we were leaving, we saw our waitress waving us down to give us our to-go charcuterie, which she didn't even apologize for the horrible service and it being so late. We took it only to find out later in the office that the charcuterie had gone bad (picture attached). You can tell it was not fresh that we actually ended up throwing it out. It was so gross and even smelled a little funky. Just an absolute bad experience at Café Intermezzo. Probably will go out of the way to other locations instead. We arrived at the restaurant at around 11:45 and left around 1:25. It should not have taken us this long to get cake, coffee, and a couple of appetizers. read more

This is the perfect restaurant if you're looking to grab dessert somewhere or if you're looking to go on a romantic date. The energy in the restaurant is amazing and it's so sexy. I came here with a couple friends for hot chocolate and dessert and my experience was amazing. I ordered the hazelnut hot chocolate and had a slice of carrot cake to go with it. The carrot cake was delicious! It was very moist and it was enough to share with a friend. The hot chocolate was very rich and it was mixed with Nutella. It came out warm I wish it could've been hot so that the nutella could have melted in the drink but that was not the case. It was too sweet and there were clumps of nutella sitting at the bottom of my cup it was just too much Nutella. I probably will not order this drink again it was just too sweet and too rich and not mixed well at all there was also a lot of whipped cream on the top a little bit more than I would have liked. My cousin was raving about this place and after my usual yelp stalking, I was convinced that this was a must try before returning home. Turned out as the best midday snack! Or meal.... All of us ordered drinks and cakes. The cakes change very regularly so you have to ask one of the hostesses for a "tour ". It's quick and thorough. The cheesecakes have their own displays. I ordered the white hot chocolate with Bailey's (YAASSSSS!!! The white chocolate are actual pieces of chocolate they have melted in the hot milk. Unlike all other white hot chocolates I've had that use white chocolate syrup. This tasted just as good but the fresh chocolate was delicious). I also got the nutella cheesecake (very good but my number two out of the four cakes I tasted). My partner got the cappuccino Nocciola, which came with hazelnut and coffee liqueur (the drink was a bit bitter buy the liqueur was a nice touch), and he also got the Oreo cheesecake (my favorite!!!! Absolutely delicious!!!). The shots of alcohol come separately so you can add as much or as little as you like. I also tasted the smores cheesecake (decent) and the red velvet cake (meh. Nothing like cheesecakes). Our bartender Jordan was awesome, patient, VERY nice, friendly and chatted with us. Great bartender! The manager also stopped by to check on us as well. In addition, the roasted potatoes were tasty and I believe they were seasoned with fresh rosemary. The sautéed spinach had a great buttery taste with just the right amount of salt, so it worked really well with our meal. Overall, we truly had a GREAT evening and there is nothing in my mind that would suggest giving anything lower than 5 Stars! Additionally when we got the bill there was an issue with the pricing of a kids meal and the waitress said she charged more because we added fruit (as given on their menu without any notice of an upcharge). I ordered a Turkish Coffee: the first cup was cold and nothing but coffee grounds. After sending it back, the second cup looked so bad the waiter himself took it back. The third try was still undrinkable, as it was merely cold coffee grounds in a pasty water. Nothing like I've come to expect from Cafe Intermezzo. The manager was less than helpful; he tried to cover the absolutely undrinkable coffee as "well Turkish Coffee is served with coffee grounds." During a recent visit, I was surprised at the lack of service once we were seated. We saw two servers pass us (one passed us twice) and no one came to our table to get our orders. For at least 10 minutes. Mind you, the restaurant was nowhere close to full, so it wasn't very busy. We finally decided to ditch the table and sit at the bar, where we were served warmly by the bartender, who said it was her first day bartending. We had great drinks and service at the bar, but apparently sitting at a table during a non-busy time makes for a lack of stellar service. Dear Cafe Intermezzo, I'm breaking up with you. After all these years, I think I'm finally done. Today, I brought my Meetup group here as we've done many times since 2002. There were 14 in my party today, but sometimes we break into separate tables and there are 20+ of us. All was going well today until everyone else was half-finished eating lunch while I still waited on my house coffee. Once it finally arrived, I poured it eagerly. As I lifted the cup, the glass mug split in half horizontally and the bottom sheared completely off, scalding my thigh with hot coffee. My jeans and purse were soaked. My left leg was slightly burned through my jeans. The manager eventually came by to check on me. Yes, I'll be alright, but you never apologized to me at all and then charged me $3.70 for the coffee! As I sat there in wet jeans with my shoes in a pool of coffee, my thigh burned as I made the best of it. It ruined the moment and at one point I felt like crying, but didn't want to embarrass myself. I paid for that coffee knowing it was the last time I'd give you any of my money. Had you been considerate enough to comp the coffee, I'd feel differently, but you didn't even offer. This is a restaurant but also a perfect spot for dessert as they have tons of it! You will need to go to the glass display inside to select what dessert you'd like. You will be given a ticket which you hand to your waiter/waitress. They will then grab your dessert for you. We had the Ebony Ivory cheesecake and it was delish!
