Cafe Intermezzo is my favorite spot to meet for tea conversation, and dessert ... in that exact order. This location is much larger than the one in Midtown so it is rare that you have to wait to get seated, parking is conveniently located all around the shopping area and it is free. The resturant has an intimate atmosphere, perfect for date night or meeting up with friends for good conversation. Their drink menu is extensive with tons of selections from coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and alcoholic beverages. My favorite drink to order is the Vanilla Chai Tea with soy milk. Cafe Intermezzo offers brunch menu items which are served all day my favorite dish on this menu is the Intermezzo Omelette and the seasoned skillet potatoes. They also offer a variety of other items for lunch and dinner the chicken sandwich is tasty and my go to item for something healthy and light is the Greek Salad. This little restaurant's strong point is the desserts, there are Tour Guides who walk you through the names an description of every dessert, then you choose the one you want and the guide will write it on a piece of paper and you give it to your server. They offer a large selection of cheese cakes, cakes, and tarts. The Strawberry cake and carrot cake are my top 2 choices. The customer service is always great at this location. If you are looking for a more sophisticated café to meetup with others and tired of going to noisy coffee shops, you should try this place out. read more

Unfortunately they were out of a lot of our first choices, but Kelly our wonderful waitress was an outstanding guide for alternate recommendations. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had and it's imported straight from Milan ( I know right!). As for the pineapple coconut cake, my friend really enjoyed it and there were even chunks of pineapple inside of it. So they don't have a dessert menu because their desserts are kept on rotation but your waiter/waitress can give you a "cake tour" where he/she takes you around the dessert bar and goes over all the cheesecakes and cakes they have that day. I found that to be super helpful. The only reason I'm docking a star is because I wasn't too impressed with the Indian spiced chai I got and my friend wasn't blown away by the food he ordered. Cute little spot located near perimeter mall. Surprisingly short wait for a Sunday afternoon. Dress code very relaxed as in you can wear shorts and a T-shirt or your Sunday brunch best. Fair prices. I ordered the avocado toast and a peach Bellini. Chili oil and aioli made the avocado toast worth the $10 for sure. Eggs were hit or miss. Nothing special literally just scrambled eggs. Peach Bellini was very tasty I'd think the peach purée was fresh. So what was the issue? Some of the worst service I've had in a while. This restaurant is practicing social distancing which was fine but we had to wait ridiculously long for water and part of my order wasn't delivered even after I'd finished my entree. Had a very nice date night here. It was a last minute decision after dinner to stop in and enjoy dessert and spiked coffee. Coffee is a must at all times but where there's Bailey's and other things in addition, I'll be sure to find it. Our staff was excellent from opening the door with greeting us to addressing our concerns with seating as the weather posed a little challenge and we needed a new table. Not once did we feel that we were a problem. We were offered an alternative and the level of care was never dropped. In general, I'm a fan of the espresso libations and cheesecake that Café Intermezzo has to offer. What I like about this Dunwoody location is the large outdoor patio at the front of the restaurant which has a welcoming vibe where you can listen to music and admire the statues while dining. On this particular day, I opted to sit on said patio to enjoy the fresh breezes. I ordered the Strawberry Nutella Crepes, Chicken Sausage, and scrambled eggs (lightly) to eat, and a hot espresso beverage to drink. The Crepes were good and I think they did a fantastic job with the Chicken Sausage. However, I did have to request they redo my eggs as they were initially cooked way too hard. We went here after having a very large gathering at Eclipse de Luna and I think we were A10-12 people without reservation and they accommodated us even though they were so busy and full. I've never written a negative review in my life. Having worked in restaurants and retail, I know how hard the work is and don't expect to be treated like royalty. I always tip 30% and never ask for anything extra. When I walked into Café Intermezzo 45 minutes ago, the host glared at me with a look that I can only describe as CONTEMPT. She said nothing but looked me dead in the eye and shook her head like I'd just insulted her. I'd walked in wearing a mask (I always wear one walking into a new place when I don't know their policies), and maybe that offended her (none of the staff was wearing one, and that's fine). I can't think of anything else it could be. I said "hi" and again she shook her head with a look of DISGUST. I looked around and asked if this was walk up & order or sit down (since it was listed on Google as a coffee shop). She was still looking at me with contempt and said in a tone that sounded like I was the stupidest person on earth, "like...dine in...??" At that point I just shook my head and said "okay" and walked out. First time I have ever walked out of a restaurant. I'm an easy customer. If someone is short with me, rushed, impersonal, whatever, I do not care. It's a hard job and you don't always have the time or energy to be polite. Came here around 10:25p.m - 10:30p.m and the hostess was saying due to them almost closing they couldn't guarantee us seating even if we waited, which I thought was kind of rude to say. Cafe Intermezzo has always been know for its elegant, yet simple atmosphere. It's great for groups, as well as for intimate dates. Pictured here is the Café Alpine. It's the first time I've ordered it. I usually get the Café Johannes for my desserts here (which is the best by the way). The main difference between the Johannes and this Alpine, is that the Alpine is more of an actual drink. The Johannes is more of an ice cream/shake. However, the flavors of the Alpine are just as magnificent. Love the strong, yet smooth espresso, and the white chocolate chips on top is a great touch when combining a little bite of that with a sip of the drink. Honestly, my favorite dessert here is still the Café Johannes but the Alpine was a great second, and I'll definitely order it more often when I'd prefer a drink over a shake. read more

I love coming here with friends for a refreshing iced coffee and their amazing cakes. The ambience makes you feel like you're somewhere abroad in Europe. In case you didn't know... Ok so the ambience for this establishment is amazing, however the service is not so great. I came with a party of 8 for my birthday and it didn't take long for us to be seated, as we had reservations, but the waiter took long to take our orders. The waiter never brought us waters and then indicated that the kitchen was backed up and it may take long for them to bring our food. We all ordered drinks and I decided to order the seafood dip and the spinach dip. The first seafood dip he brought out looked like a purée it was very soupy. The menu indicated it had crab and shrimp in the dip so they took it back and brought out a second bowl, which was a lot thicker and had big chunks of seafood. I loved the spinach dip and the seafood dip once they got it right. I'm waiting for the announcement that this location is closing. This used to be a great place crowded with people and tables everywhere. It's now spacious and is empty as they've removed the tables that used to be near the railing and the interior setup of tables has been reduced. It's lost that cozy intimate feel outside and inside. The menus are gone as are the cute glass containers of sugar cubes. There is no longer a person to educate you on the deserts choices. You better figure it out on your own and either write it down for yourself or remember it so you can tell your waiter. I've been coming to Cafe Intermezzo since high school. It use to be the midtown was the only location available and back then as it is now...parking was and still is hellish... This location near Ashford Dunwoody across from Perimeter mall has a lot going on. Even though there is a big parking lot available it can be a challenge to find parking especially during the weekends. I think its safe to say Cafe Intermezzo is more atmosphere and experience than coffee or food. Don't get me wrong. Their coffee has always been good. I've had about half of dozen worth of drink items off their extensive menu over the years and it all has been quite good. The food items are a hit or miss. I've been here when it was really good and been here when it was not so good. What I think is very consistent is their excellent service. I can honestly say in all my years of coming to Cafe Intermezzo-sometimes at 2AM I have never had bad service. I think if you're going to charge $5.00 for a cup of coffee it is only fair that you act like you like us...even if its only pretend.... read more

My friend took for a nice Sunday evening out for dinner and we concluded our evening with dessert at Intermezzo which was AMAZING! Marcus was our waiter and he was very attentive & pleasant! We orders drinks initially. My friend consumed a French Connection and my choice of the night was a glass of Rose'. Marcus continuously made sure we had everything that we needed. Thank you Marcus. Before leaving for the night we selected our desserts. We couldn't date to eat consume them while we were there our dinner hadn't digested quite yet lol so we ordered our goodies to go. I opted for my favorite of all times - the classic cheesecake with strawberry drizzle and my friend ordered the Oreo cheesecake (I think... lol). When you pull into the plaza it's not immediately apparent where it is located, I recommend parking by the bank & just walk straight down & you will see it on your left hand side. They offer both indoor & outdoor seating so I fear of freezing my behind off we decided to sit outside. They have many selections of coffee both hot & cold, also alcoholic & non alcoholic. I ordered the Caffe Alpine. It did come with the white chocolate as mentioned but just chips that were sprinkled on the top & unmelted. I was not very hungry at the moment so I ordered a croissant , nothing special there. Ultimately not a bad experience, I've been to the other one downtown before & had a great time there. We had dinner at another restaurant in Dunwoody and decided to come to Cafe intermetzo for dessert. My friend doesn't have sweets during the week and decided to have her fix today here. I grabbed two seats at the bar while she was looking at the cakes and she had questions about them and the 2 bakery people that were there were on their phones while she was trying to get help. At the same time I was sitting at the bar trying to order a drink and the bartender did not acknowledge me at all while she was just talking and pretty much hanging out with the guy that was sitting next to me, she never said "I'll be right with you or anything" and they werent even talking about the menu or anything they literally were just hanging out while I was ready to order my drink so I decided after being ignored for over 5 minutes to get up. My friend was ready to leave and I tried to finally get the baker's attention but my friend changed her mind about having sweets and being ignored so we left. I used to recommend Cafe Intermeoall the time But after tonight's awful experience I wont do it anymore or tell people about this place. Cafe Intermezzo is a nice place located in a busy part of Dunwoody. Decor and atmosphere is very low lit no matter what time of day it seems, but the food makes up for it. I've visited this location twice and I'm debating whether or not there will be a third. Both visits I've had to wait almost 15 minutes before the waiter/waitress even brings out a glass of water. Why should that take so long? Now if the restaurant was busy and bustling to the brim with other people, then sure. But it wasn't. Thankfully the one saving grace was the food that was made in both a timely manner and came out tasting great. I've always known this café to be known for the desserts, which is why I like getting the Nutella crepes. You can't go wrong with any of the options, but my favorite is the Nutella and strawberry crepe. A generous amount of strawberries and well presented plating. I also chose to go with the seafood dip, as my dining companion loves her seafood. Also a good choice, the bread alone was probably the highlight for the both of us. All in all, I can't say that I won't be recommending this café to others because it is still one of the best places to get a nice crepe in Atlanta. Just be patient, take your time reading over the menu during the waiting periods. There is another location which I will be trying in the future. read more

At first, it appeared to be drowning in béchamel, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavor; I appreciate when I can taste the mustard in a croque. First off, let me talk about how much I love the setting and ambiance. Romantic darkness with dim lighting is the best description I can think of, but it's still great for small families, friends, but especially for date nights. Very, very intimate. Next, let's talk about their 40 page drink menu with a host of coffees, spirits, and hot chocolate. I tried a deluxe hot chocolate truffle, and it was pretty amazing. High quality chocolate with whip cream and caramel. Fyi, they serve breakfast ALL DAY. And they have probably 10 different cheesecakes and 20 different cakes. I tried the tomato basil pasta which was flavorful for around $15. You can add salmon or chicken for extra. My friends really enjoyed their food as well. Service ... it was okay.
