One of my favorite dessert places!! The food is pretty amazing too but I really just go here for the coffee and desserts. I really love the Nutella and banana crepes but the white chocolate cheesecake is everything and I don't even like white chocolate. I like this location wayyy better than the one in midtown. There is plenty of parking and so many other good places to eat before stopping by here for dessert. It also has a lot more space so you don't feel packed. This is a lovely place to chill. It's especially gorgeous at night. I definitely recommend for a friend outing or date night or even a solo date. I'm making an edit just to add that the midtown location is great too. A bit smaller but very cute and intimate and the staff are always friendly there even when handling how crowded it gets. This is a great location in Midtown. I love how the restaurant is tucked off towards the back of the plaza, that really adds to the intimate, yet casual vibe of the establishment. Upon walking up, we were met by the host who was very pleasant and we were able to be seated immediately as we opted to sit outside in the patio area. Upon being seated, the menu QR code is directly in the middle of each table. Upon scanning, you are taking to the multiple options. Make sure you pay attention to which menu you are on as you can ensure to see the options that fit your desire. Our waitress arrived at the table within a few minutes and was very pleasant. She took our drink orders and allowed us a moment to decide on our order. The Meal: GRILLED CHICKEN BRIOCHE Mushroom | Onion | Provolone Cheese Lemon Dill Herb Spread One word, WOW! The grilled chicken brioche provides a balance of still and gooey all in one. The chicken breast was well seasoned and perfectly grilled. The fixings were very fresh and paired very well together. The bun is toasted to golden perfection which provides the stiffness you need for the sandwich to sit like the powerhouse that it is. Coupled with the gooey cheese that is melted in a way that allows it to ooze over the entire chicken breast so you get that delicious provolone taste in every bite. I decided to pair it with the side Caesar Salad. The salad had the perfect balance of crispness, chill, and most of all, parmesan shaving perfection. This isn't a side salad that is just thrown together. This is a side pairing of artistic creativity. Yes, the salad alone stands out due to the freshness and rich creaminess of the caesar dressing. The hummus was good as well but I think the menu description hyped it up more than what it actually was. The espresso martini is absolutely divine! Had the Belgian hot chocolate which was hands down amazing. Creamy, rich, and you'll need the spoon for the extra chocolate melt and foam. I messed up with the waffle. I didn't realize the waffle would have pearl sugar or whatever it's called. Way too sweet for my tastes and I just forced myself to eat one piece and the strawberries (added topping), and gave up on the second piece. Our server was really nice and attentive to us even after a mishap with another customer she remained calm and collected. I will never return to this cafe at this location again. We arrived as a group of 12 people, including 8 adults and 4 kids aged between 12 months and 4 years. The manager refused to seat us and said I have to split you into 2 groups. We accepted that, but then he said we can't sit together in the same spot, and he suggested that 8 people sit outside while 4 sit inside. I could understand if the cafe was very busy and we didn't have a reservation, but the outside area was empty with more than 10 free tables. When I went inside, I saw a large empty table without a reservation, and another empty table in front of it. Despite this, he refused to seat us at these three separate tables, even though they were in the same area. The manager outright refused to let us sit, even though the cafe was empty and not busy at all. It felt like he didn't want to work or make the guests feel welcome. I've never physically eaten at Cafe Intermezzo, but I have bought slices of their cakes and cheesecakes countless times and taken them home to eat. This review only covers my take out experiences. I think the cake slices are on the pricey side, but I also think that Cafe Intermezzo has the best overall selection of quality cakes in metro Atlanta. These are not the best cakes I've ever had. That honor is reserved for the fantastic cakes, specifically the Triple Berry Cake, made by Sweet Lady Jane in West Hollywood. If you are going to buy slices of cakes or cheesecakes, you don't have to stand in line to get in. Just walk to the glass display cases containing cakes and cheesecakes and keep mental note of which one(s) you want to buy. If you need clarification on what is contained in each cake, you can try to flag down anyone working behind the display cases. During pre-pandemic times, there was always a full time employee who stood next to the cases and was able to give a very detailed and full run down of what each cake was and what was contained in each of them, but during the past year, that position has disappeared. When you are ready to order, you need to walk over to the bar side and order your cake slices through the bartender, who will charge you. You'll then have up to a 20 minute wait to get your dessert. Unfortunately, it seems that customers buying take out slices of cake are a lot lower priority than the customers who are eating and/or drinking at the bar. Over the past few years, I've had slices of the German chocolate cake, various types of cheesecakes, coconut cake, Oreo cake, red velvet cake, carrot cake, and countless others. Most of the time, the slices of cake are placed into clear plastic take out containers, along with a small cup of whipped cream, and placed into a nice thick paper bag with strong tightly twisted paper handles. One thing that I've noted about the cakes is that the lightness, heaviness and/or airiness are not consistent, meaning that I've had coconut cake one time and it was light and airy, but the next time I had it the cake was heavy and dense. R and I came here after a Braves home game. The Frutti di Bosco I got reminded me of a cream cake with lots of berries on top. This dessert was not sweet, which suited me just fine. Parking generally easy to find in the big free lot that wraps around most of the business in this center, except you may find it a challenge to find an open space during peak times. Face masks are worn by employees and customers, but social distancing is not always maintained. Cafe Intermezzo has a strong French theme flowing in its decor. We sat on the patio and enjoyed some Nice weather with our brunch. We got an espresso martini which was perfectly made, and the granita cappuccino. It was a rainy day in Hotlanta today but I could envision what the outdoor seating would be like with the windows open...relaxing. The food was fresh, cooked perfectly for me, seasoned well. I ordered the fresh fruit instead of potatoes and the strawberries were a delicious balance to the frittata. They offer a dual colored card that you can flip green to request service or red if you want to be left alone. Since we had just finished fish and chips from Duke's English Pub we decided to go with: Carrots cake not too spicy and not overly sweet and a Caramel cappuccino which was perfect for me because I don't like coffee that is too sweet. The main hero was the Naan, I can't begin to explain how soft it was and how good it tasted with the right amount of salt/sour. My husband had Hot Chocolate Berlin as a beverage and when I had a sip of it, my whole hot chocolate world turned upside down! Never in my life have I had this kind of hot chocolate which was soooooo chocolatey, creamy and simply amazing. I wanted to try something different from this and ordered Hot chocolate Deluxe, but carelessly looked away from the 'shaved dark chocolate'. For a person who's an absolute sweet lover and not a fan of Dark chocolate, this beverage took me away from the extraordinary Hot chocolate Berlin. A blunder on my part :( For mains, we had Tomato and Basil pasta - per the name, the dish did its justice. I loved the way the pasta was cooked & had the right amount of basil flavoring. But the dish had a lot of tomato sauce/base which I didn't like (not sure if that's the way the dish is supposed to be!) As if this didn't make me full, I had Hazelnut Chocolate - Banana crepe. The crepe was really soft and had a lavish sprinkle of pecans. Although I felt it could have used a little more Chocolate because some parts of the crepe was bland with only the pecans. Being at Intermezzo brings back so many memories! They are a German restaurant that serve food, all different type of teas and alcohol, and CAKES! They have some of the best cakes I've ever eaten. I gave them 5 stars due to the following: 1. Location: we live 5 mins away, so this location is perfect for us. 2. Parking: you can park either in the front of the plaza or in the back. Valet is usually available, but i assume because of the pandemic, they have since stopped. 3. Price: the prices have gone up due to inflation, but nothing too unreasonable. Cakes are $9 a piece from $7, and drinks are around $7 per item. 4. Service: Like most restaurants now, the staff all wear masks and request that you wear one too. They also now have a flip card where you flip to green if you want service, and red if you do not. Overall, Intermezzo is a great place for great food and desserts. I ordered orange juice, a cafe drink, a Belgian waffle, avocado toast and eggs Benedict with a side of bacon. We didn't get our orange juice or cafe drink until we'll after our food arrived, and when my cappuccino Bianco arrived, the whipped cream was flat and the cup was stained from the drink spilling over the sides. This obviously doesn't affect taste, but the presentation was just lacking and service under delivered. The food was a hit or miss. My scrambled eggs were probably the best I've ever had in my life but the toast for my avocado toast was stale and hard to eat. The eggs Benedict came with a perfect poached egg and yummy potatoes but the hollandaise was way too acidic and hard to eat. The waffle was pretty good but small considering it was $9 with a side of strawberries. Visited with friends last night and was highly disappointed. We've been to Dunwoody's Intermezzo several times for drinks & desserts but never food, and never again will we make that mistake. We were underwhelmed by the menu, my friend immediately called Eclipse Di Luna to ask for their wait times, though my fiancé and I insisted we gave Cafe Intermezzo a try and thought "ok, surely with these limited options they'd master these dishes". Friends had: raspberry french toast (which was drenched in jam and had to wait an additional 15 minutes for Log Cabin syrup), Chicken Florentine (which had weird pieces of slimy chicken in it). Another had a traditional American breakfast which was mediocre. Then me? Smoked salmon pasta. The salmon was so over salted, if there were capers and dill in it I'd of never tasted it because I sure as heck didn't see them either. Waiter asked if all was well, I said no, he did not hear me, I said it again because I truly did not like it. I've had the same dish better at Crispina's in Kennesaw. Given that we've enjoyed our experiences before, I wanted to give them another opportunity to wow me. Although our waiter was flustered, running into guests, and overall in 3 million places at once he promptly said he'd replace the dish with something else, which I did not expect after he said that's just "how the dish is". I thought he was going to be argumentative. After reviewing the menu again, I noticed a roast beef au jus sandwich and asked for it verbatim as it read on the menu. Was really excited for it! Waited another 30 minutes, waiter came out and handed it to me. Fiancé and I asked where the au jus sauce was, waiter said "oh that doesn't come with the ham and cheese". That's when I was finished. My entire table heard me say what I wanted, and they were embarrassed and also wanted to leave at this point. I explained to the waiter I did not want this, and do not want anything to replace it, and did not want a dessert. I was done. Shortly after the manager came up to the table. I understand that he needed to receive a clear understanding of where the mistake fell, although I really did not feel like having to explain my experience and did not ask for a manager. I stated this with the manager, I don't want to be angry, I do not want cake, comp the meal and we will likely still be back for drinks and dessert as it seems like that's what they specialize in. He had mentioned the ham and cheese, causing me to talk about the issue and embarrassing me and my friends again. I suggest to whomever reviews this: that management speaks to servers regarding poor service first, and if the party wishes to speak to management then do so. I had high expectations for Cafe Intermezzo, despite their 3 rating, so antagonizing me after I clearly stated I did not wish to discuss our experience, put the nail in the coffin.
