My first experience with Korean food and this place was delicious!!! Okay, we arrived on Saturday night after dark and I'm not going to lie, from the outside, I wasn't sure about this place. But once we open the door, the smells were amazing, and the staff was ridiculously friendly and attentive. Couldn't have been any nicer. We did Korean hot pot, combination C and it was delicious. One of the older women who worked there came to the table, repeatedly to help us and show us how to cook things and explained what the side dishes were. Everything was fresh and so delicious. We especially loved the kimchi, and the beef. Also the start you off with a delicious miso soup. I would definitely recommend this place. Cost for four of us was around 100USD. Free parking. We really enjoyed the BBQ Ribs - the Bulgogi was good, just a little sweeter than we are normally used to. It's a decent sized hole-in-the-wall, but it is very clean. The service was better than most places. They were on its. Just not our type of food, but glad that we tried it. read more

I have learned that this is one of the best lunch specials for Korean food. The quality and quantity is excellent. I had my hopes kinda high for their kbbq grilling at the table. I saw a few folks before and it looked very promising. They had the grills with an open flame typw which is what i prefer for cooking up kbbq at the table. I kept hyping up how good it was gonna be because of that. Come to find out though that you would only be able to order a certain set of meats to get the open flame grill type. Apparently if you order their bulgogi, you end up needing to use a hot skillet type AND they added a layer of foil over it in order to avoid any burning meats on the plate. Lame. The cut of beef for the bulgogi was not very good neither and the flavor of the marinade wasnt great. Mostly because what ended up happening was a collection of water from the meat and it kind of boiled off the flavor. The sides and amount of food from the ban chan for the meat sets are phenomenal though. So i think for the quantity, you get most of your moneys worth. But i wouldnt wanna go back for their kbbq grilling. Maybe another lunch fix though. read more

Service was good. Food was not. Yakimandu was good,but the ricecake with ramen was very spicy but flavorless. The japchae was dry..a weird texture and not flavorful either. The spicy ricecake/ramen tasted like the one from Costco. Have lived in Korea and eaten Korean food in several different states and never had such bad food. I did not have a great experience here. The person taking our order didn't speak English well at all. When the food was brought out, it wasn't what I asked for. I didn't eat it, and when asked to remove it from the tab because it was not eaten, she refused and said that since she already cooked it, it couldn't be taken back. Last time I checked, you click button on a screen to add and remove stuff when they are totaling your meal. So yes, she could've removed it, she just choose not to. I think to suit the needs on where the restaurant is located they make it a bit spicy.. It wasn't bad and I would definitely go back. I had the lunch special which is 11am-2pm. It's basically a bento box with 3 (small) sides, rice and whatever protein you order. I ordered the pork bulgolgi and it was COVERED in jalapeños and onions. I'm pregnant and that was heart burn central right there. I also LOVE Korean food and had my fair share of it from numerous different cities/places and restaurants.. this right here isn't "authentic" and not that I know what "authentic" is but what restaurant here in America can actually say "authentic" (I'm sure there are actually a few) lol. I guess what I'm saying is that I've never had a bulgolgi dish like this that was on the spicy side. Yes, MAYBE a kick. And no My mouth wasn't burning but it just wasn't what I've had in the past. I love Korean food so was excited to come here. Will definitely come back. I got the Sundubu Jjigae (spicy soft tofu stew) - it was served piping hot like normal and was excellent. It's the best cold weather soup imo! We also got the galbi ribs, tteokbokki (which were ovals that you would normally find in soups vs the stick kind) and those were amazing too. I missed Samgyupsal and asked my usual place (Korea House) if there was any place in El Paso since they've had to take it off the menu. Cafe Korea's location has always been a Korean restaurant ever since I've known it, with differing owners and names. Whoever the current owners are know what they are doing and I was very happy with the experience. Definitely a must! While here visiting El Paso, my best friend, her husband, and I visited here for the first time. I live in LA where we basically have KBBQ joints left and right. We found this location to be a very tasteful one! The price was reasonable for what our meal consisted. There were 3 of us and our food definitely could've feed 4 people. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Mr. Kim, who came out to share details about our food and showed us the best way to cook our meat. Made my first visit to Cafe Korea, and it won't be the last I'm sure. It reopened under new management after renovation about three weeks ago according to the very nice owner lady. When I visited on mid-afternoon Saturday, there was not a single table occupied in this establishment. I was hoping that it wasn't any indication of how the food and service would turn out. I was relieved that both food and service was very good. There are some pricey items on the menu. I opted for my usual bibimbap to compare to other establishments apple-to-apple in town. It was good. Not the best I ever had, but it was decent. The variety of banchan (side dishes) were also decent. Again, not the best I had, but not the worst. The miso soup was very good, though I think I may be able to come up with a better tasting soup myself. The best part of my experience at this establishment was the table service. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She was attentive and made sure I was enjoying the meal. The owner lady frequented my table and made sure I was doing alright. She even let me sample the new cold radish and kimchi soup they started recently. That was a very nice service. Their lunch specials (Mon-Fri) looked very good. It's a bento-style box lunch with four variations. Three of them are at $7.99 currently: bulgogi (tender Korean BBQ beef), dwaegi-bulgogi (Korean BBQ pork) and Dak-bulgogi (Korean BBQ chicken). This place is so goooood. So happy that a legit Korean restaurant is out here not too far off from Las Cruces. Their banchan (veggie side dishes) is goooood .
