(This is a 3.5 star review) My best friend and I met up here for a quick dinner last night around 6pm. When we arrived, it was virtually empty, which was nice. A few more people trickled in towards the end of our meal. Our waiter was kind and accommodating, answering our questions about the menu. We ended up going quite simple, ordering a deluxe burger and a piña colada to split because we weren't that hungry. The food came out super quickly (probably testament to how slow it was at the time). The meal started with some coleslaw and pickles (which I LOVE and was very happy about). The burger ($21) was super simple and did the job, but did not blow us away at all. We had to dress it up a bit for the picture below :) The piña colada, while good, was super sweet. We really didn't taste much alcohol and it was also ($18.45) which we found really overpriced for what it was. In any case, it's nice to have cafes like this that are local. We appreciated the simplicity of the place and it's also quite large, with lots of tables so it could be a nice place for a snack/to do some work.

My husband and I were in the area yesterday morning and decided to eat at this diner. There were many patrons which is always a good sign. The wait staff were friendly and showed us where we can sit and bright is the menus. They have a wide selection from wraps, sandwiches, breakfast items, dessert, etc. I ordered the eggs florentine with whole wheat toast and my husband got a toasted bagel with lox and salad. I enjoyed my dish very much. It came with 2 poached eggs, hashed potatoes, toast, cooked spinach and feta. It was well cooked and flavorful. My dish was $20.50. My husband's bagel with cream cheese and lox was good too but he's not sure if it's worth $22.50. That seemed a bit steep. The ambiance is friendly and welcoming. It's a nice diner/Cafe but a bit pricey.

We came in with a large group and the owner was so accommodating to ensure we could be seated together and promptly. It offers very typical diner food and the prices are a bit high for the quality in my opinion. The gold brown pancakes with banana and walnut (in between the stacks) was probably the best dish. The avocado toast was pretty mediocre. The poached eggs were extremely rubbery and I couldn't really eat them. 5/5 stars for service and the owner is such a friendly guy! Maybe worth stopping by for a coffee or something, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the food.

The owners are kind, friendly, and genuinely good people working hard to keep this establishment competitive compared to the other diners in the surrounding area. Many folks eat here from the neighborhood as a consistent "go to" spot, given the quality of their food and prompt service. Most diners offer the same kinds of dishes, but this one stands out for its attention to detail and customer service. As an example, my family ate at this diner on a busy weekend day (with a stroller) yet were given a quiet section of the restaurant on purpose, since the management understood the stress associated with eating out with little kids. The menu could use more food options but you'll still easily find what you want.

Had an enjoyable breakfast here at Cafe Luka, my eggs were pretty good standard diner style and the French toast was quite tasty. The service was excellent and the staff was quite friendly! Will definitely be back if I'm in the area and want to grab a quick breakfast

Quality and quick breakfast before our flight back to Florida. The hashbrowns have their own spice kick to them which I loved. Luka is a fantastic owner and is the epitome of New York hospitality! He went out of his way to check on us and had a great conversation with him. The staff was excellent as well.

Wonderful hidden gem!! Everything is AMAZING! atmosphere, service, FOOD. They were super accommodating with our stroller and gave us a really cozy table (we were seated next to the entrance and asked to move in since it was chilly and there was no problem at all) We had onion soup, fried chicken basket, eggs with hashbrown, sausage and bacon and extra side of bacon. Portions huge Onion soup was huge with plenty of yummy cheese. It was cooked to perfection since most of the times it could go on the salty side but his one was perfect!! The fried chilen came with a bowl of salad or soup and side of fries. oMG such crunch chicken!!! The batter was perfect and perfectly seasoned The cherry on top was the chocolate chip cake. Service was suuper friendly and really nice Will surely come back and try more dishes since everything on other tables looked yummy

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

Coming into the place I was greeted by a blonde woman who seemed to be a supervisor of the area. She directed me to a comfortable seating area and a server took my order afterwards. The place was relatively busy so the wait for my food was kind of in the long range, about maybe 15 minutes. I ordered Chicken & Waffles with Iced Tea and the food was definitely worth the wait. That chicken was so good, a bit on the crisp side but it's solid in taste. The Waffle had such an awesome texture with the right measure of powdered sugar, decorated with Blueberries and Strawberries, the entrée was plated very well. The Iced Tea, I didn't know it was unsweetened so that threw me off but some sugar kinda fixed that. Service was also 'A' Tier. The place was busy so it was a tad on the slow side but they were very attentive. About 3 different servers tended to me whether it was about my order, how I liked it and paying for the bill when I was finished. That's dedication and I always give props to that. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.
