It's nice to finally have a Westville location in the Upper East Side neighborhood. Large space with a casual and cozy vibe. Bright, clean, and uplifting decor. Terrific spot to have brunch, a few drinks, sit in the dining area or at the bar. Menu offers a variety of plates along with options to enjoy a clean healthy meal. The have a selection of what they call their market vegetables which are fresh and seasonal. You can just have a market plate of those if you're not into a meat based meal. It's become tradition; after a late-morning class on Mondays, a group of about eight women go to lunch. It's always LPQ; they know us, there's a long table we take over, and they don't mind providing individual checks. Today we mixed things up and tried Westville. LPQ (Le Pain Quotidien), you've got competition! Other than noise -- it's REALLY loud in Westville -- lunch was great, with enough variety to keep each of us happy. I had a delicious falafel sandwich. It was stuffed with cabbage slaw, tomato, arugula, ranch yogurt sauce and harissa tahini served on a potato bun. With a choice of fries or salad, I went with arugula, topped with marinated red onion. They don't skimp on portions. Other than not being able to eat the sandwich like a sandwich, I was really happy. (I cut off pieces.) A few women ordered salmon with thick grilled asparagus. (I prefer thin.) Someone got a turkey burger and sweet potato fries. It didn't look great -- turkey burgers generally don't -- but she said it was delicious. Our server Danny was attentive, keeping our water glasses filled and all the orders straight. It was full of scrambled eggs, chorizo, smoked gouda cheese & shallots in a flour tortilla, topped with avocado & smoky chipotle tomato sauce, and served with arugula. Brand new location, first one near me! Spacious and clean. I arrived to meet my friend before she did; I sat near the front so she'd easily find me. The hostess sat me and brought all the menus plus the prewrapped cutlery. Right away, the waiter came over with glasses and a bottle of water. He showed me the lunch specials and without being asked he recommended something. I guess he was trained to do that, but dude - obviously I'm waiting for someone and I didn't ask. I thought it was funny. Three menus: one for beverages, 1 for specials, and one with their regular offerings. Anyway, my friend arrived and that attentive young man came right over. She asked if they had any teas without caffeine and he told her chamomile and peppermint. She asked for the peppermint and he was quick. During the meal, he kindly came over to ask if she'd like more hot water and she realily appreciated that. We each ordered the lunch market plate, which she's had at other locations and liked a lot. She had the sweet potatoes that come with scallions and sour cream but she said no sour cream; the tofu teriyaki; and the beets with goat cheese and walnuts. I also had the sweet potatoes, scallions and sour cream on the side please; the beets with the goat cheese and walnuts; and the excellent brussels sprouts with the dijon vinaigrette on the side. I should've taken a picture (but we were so busy catching up). The plates were ample and I wasn't hungry for anything all afternoon! Imagine getting lunch in a restaurant in Manhattan and even after tax and tip, under $20.!?!? Neighborhood chain that's excellent. Do try it! read more

This opened recently on the UES and is a welcome addition. Seating is comfortable and spacious and quiet enough to engage in a conversation without shouting. Service is very good, prompt, attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Pricing is reasonable. This is a good spot for a happy hour and there are daily drink specials as well. Our cocktails were tasty and we also enjoyed empanadas, which we're not greasy and crisp and turkey chili, which was hearty and well suited for the cold weather. Happy to have them finally open in the neighborhood, replacing the old Daona market. Food comes out hot, fresh, and fast. The space is actually really well done inside and makes for a cute meet up spot for drinks, brunch, dinner, etc. it's a large space so should be great for groups, although I've noticed how busy it is on the weekends! I appreciate the market plates that let you have a little of everything (veggie wise) and their yuca fries are solid. Nonalcoholic shrubs are a great bar option. Staff and management have been friendly and helpful - we will return! read more

This honestly might be the worst meal I've ever eaten in NYC. It tasted like microwaved frozen food you'd buy at a supermarket. The sides weren't even seasoned and had poor quality and texture. The mashed potatoes tasted like it was made with country crock margarine. The salmon was overcooked. I would never tell someone to eat here. Drinks are ok and perhaps worth the happy hour pricing. read more

Very pretty restaurant. Lovely staff. Excellent customer service. The problem... They don't have a quiet area for the staff to take phone orders so if you call it a busy time the chances are you will not get anything right. That being said, it happened to me twice. In fairness they did give me my money back. Very nice but not helpful when you're hungry. Today I decided to have lunch in the restaurant. I had the buttermilk fried chicken. Very dry. They do not pound it so it is very thick on one side and thin on the other. I didn't enjoy it. The two orders that I ordered in one was a steak sandwich. it was good, but I ordered it rare and it wasn't. It was burned and the last time I ordered a steak platter. Thrilled to have this in our neighborhood after years of visiting their other locations. Inventive menu, very reasonably priced, and always expertly prepared. Their Cast Iron Turkey Burger is a favorite, and their seasonal potato soup and empanadas were also great. I can honestly say this was the worst food I have had in nyc in a long time. And the wait for the food was atrocious. 30 minutes for a burger? The wait staff was clustered in groups chatting while I and two other customers were waiting for 30 minutes each for our food. One guy had simply ordered... carrot cake. The waitstaff never checked in with us, never took the initiative to check on our food, they just pretended we weren't there. Awful service. Awful overpriced food. Westville on the Upper East Side is very spacious, unlike the other locations. The food was good.

We love the other Westville locations, but this one just doesn't have its act together yet. We placed a pickup order, walked over to get it, and when we got home we realized part of the order was missing. When we went back, the staff seemed indifferent and didn't offer any apology or concession for the inconvenience. Really disappointing attitude, especially for a brand that usually prides itself on service. Hoping they can tighten things up, but for now, we'll stick to the other locations. read more

As an Upper East Sider with eclectic tastes always I am giving Westville in my neighborhood 5 stars for their delicious clean and healthy food ,Service and ambiance. I must say their is a dearth of places like these because the potential of places like these is lacking because of the pandemic and other factors! The upper east side needs more of more!! It needs resurrection to put it bluntly!! I went to Westville as I was meeting a professional and I decided to have my lunch at Westville Cafe at East 73rd and First Avenue as it was already teeming with vigor and the excitement of weekend NYC discovery. I decided on their Vegan lunch as it is a specialty I like and love. I looked forward to everything in their Vegan menu and this the piece de resistance as one would say in Paris!!! I had also noticed that one of their waitresses was wearing a Las Vegas Bra with spangles and Hollywood diamond shingles and glimmering charms! I thought well this is Las Vegas East Side for sure. I had also complimented the other very palatable and gregarious waitress Gaby who I remarked that there should be more vegan on the menu why not I thought since so many residents on the East Side are health conscious like mad!!!! Everyone was having a fine time with their healthy lunches and appetites indeed!!! It was surely a celebration of the upper east side at Lunch and soon to be dinner. I recommend Westville as it is rising to very popular proportions in deed!! I was also very impressed with dog owners present and the dogs acting like beautiful angels that they are!!
