(This is a 3.5 star review) My best friend and I met up here for a quick dinner last night around 6pm. When we arrived, it was virtually empty, which was nice. A few more people trickled in towards the end of our meal. Our waiter was kind and accommodating, answering our questions about the menu. We ended up going quite simple, ordering a deluxe burger and a piña colada to split because we weren't that hungry. The food came out super quickly (probably testament to how slow it was at the time). The meal started with some coleslaw and pickles (which I LOVE and was very happy about). The burger ($21) was super simple and did the job, but did not blow us away at all. We had to dress it up a bit for the picture below :) The piña colada, while good, was super sweet. We really didn't taste much alcohol and it was also ($18.45) which we found really overpriced for what it was. In any case, it's nice to have cafes like this that are local. We appreciated the simplicity of the place and it's also quite large, with lots of tables so it could be a nice place for a snack/to do some work.

My husband and I were in the area yesterday morning and decided to eat at this diner. There were many patrons which is always a good sign. The wait staff were friendly and showed us where we can sit and bright is the menus. They have a wide selection from wraps, sandwiches, breakfast items, dessert, etc. I ordered the eggs florentine with whole wheat toast and my husband got a toasted bagel with lox and salad. I enjoyed my dish very much. It came with 2 poached eggs, hashed potatoes, toast, cooked spinach and feta. It was well cooked and flavorful. My dish was $20.50. My husband's bagel with cream cheese and lox was good too but he's not sure if it's worth $22.50. That seemed a bit steep. The ambiance is friendly and welcoming. It's a nice diner/Cafe but a bit pricey.

We came in with a large group and the owner was so accommodating to ensure we could be seated together and promptly. It offers very typical diner food and the prices are a bit high for the quality in my opinion. The gold brown pancakes with banana and walnut (in between the stacks) was probably the best dish. The avocado toast was pretty mediocre. The poached eggs were extremely rubbery and I couldn't really eat them. 5/5 stars for service and the owner is such a friendly guy! Maybe worth stopping by for a coffee or something, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the food.

The owners are kind, friendly, and genuinely good people working hard to keep this establishment competitive compared to the other diners in the surrounding area. Many folks eat here from the neighborhood as a consistent "go to" spot, given the quality of their food and prompt service. Most diners offer the same kinds of dishes, but this one stands out for its attention to detail and customer service. As an example, my family ate at this diner on a busy weekend day (with a stroller) yet were given a quiet section of the restaurant on purpose, since the management understood the stress associated with eating out with little kids. The menu could use more food options but you'll still easily find what you want.

Had an enjoyable breakfast here at Cafe Luka, my eggs were pretty good standard diner style and the French toast was quite tasty. The service was excellent and the staff was quite friendly! Will definitely be back if I'm in the area and want to grab a quick breakfast

Quality and quick breakfast before our flight back to Florida. The hashbrowns have their own spice kick to them which I loved. Luka is a fantastic owner and is the epitome of New York hospitality! He went out of his way to check on us and had a great conversation with him. The staff was excellent as well.

Wonderful hidden gem!! Everything is AMAZING! atmosphere, service, FOOD. They were super accommodating with our stroller and gave us a really cozy table (we were seated next to the entrance and asked to move in since it was chilly and there was no problem at all) We had onion soup, fried chicken basket, eggs with hashbrown, sausage and bacon and extra side of bacon. Portions huge Onion soup was huge with plenty of yummy cheese. It was cooked to perfection since most of the times it could go on the salty side but his one was perfect!! The fried chilen came with a bowl of salad or soup and side of fries. oMG such crunch chicken!!! The batter was perfect and perfectly seasoned The cherry on top was the chocolate chip cake. Service was suuper friendly and really nice Will surely come back and try more dishes since everything on other tables looked yummy

Best Momos around!…read more If the title doesn't tell you everything, this review will. I found out about this place months ago and it was finally time to give it a try. My spouse and I are always down to find good momos, and this being close by and Tibetan cuisine, it was definitely a must. Ambience: It seats a decent crowd. It has nice Tibetan artwork and you feel the warmth from the owners. It's cozy and it felt great. Service: Top notch. I don't say this lightly. The server sat us down and was just so joyful. Her smile and demeanor made you feel welcomed. Brought us water and asked the usual and offered to explain any dishes. Now we are onto the good -- might I say great -- part. THE FOOD. We didn't order momos on our first visit. Food: My wife got the Himalayan Rice set (chicken) and I got the Rildok. We also got the Shabhaley -- from the description I thought it was literal meat. The Shabhaley, to put it, looks like an empanada. It was far from it in the best possible way. The pastry was crisp but soft and the beef filling was divine! Seasoned with so much flavor and it was paired with a beautiful sauce. The Rildok was exquisite. In my opinion -- I even told one of the servers, whom I now know is one of the owners, that the flavor profile reminded me of a cheeseburger, and it's my favorite new dish. The Himalayan Rice set was awesome. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The tingmo (like a bread) was soft and delicious, paired well with the chicken. The dal reminded me of my own homeland's dal. We've now been back here multiple times. My goal is to try the entire menu. The vegetable khoty momo was surprisingly my favorite, and I'm someone who loves meat. I've now had all the flavors and preparations of the momos, and you can't go wrong! This place is a gem. Their quality of food is top notch, and their actual aunties are in the back making this with so much love. I want everyone to try it. The owner and his staff are amazing and welcoming. They remembered me from my second visit, and that speaks volumes. They're all down to earth and it shows. The passion they have for their food and their kindness shines through. Parking: Can be rough depending on time of day.

I cannot say I was expecting the food to be this damn good out of a seemingly random Mexican place…read morethat just happened to be near where we were. I hadn't seen Tacos Gobernador on any Mexican restaurant menu before. These are sinaloan-style tacos, stuffed with the fresh shrimp abundant in the region. This is the second time I'm saying this in the first four sentences, but these were amazing. First of all - they were huge! Way larger than normal tacos, these tortillas stretch across the plate. The outsides are perfectly crisped up - these are kind of a mix between a soft & hard shell taco, but incorporating the best of both worlds. The amount of oil used in the grilling is perfect. What really makes these though, is the fillings. The shrimp is unbelievable - first of all, its the largest shrimp I've ever seen inside a taco. I mentioned how large these tacos are, but the shrimp bursts out of the top like a xenomorph out of a chest; there's little containment to be had here. These shrimp are seasoned astoundingly, turning practically a dark red from the spices used. Oh yeah, and the juiciness is just perfect. They are so well cooked. The other outstanding part is the cheese. The Oaxacan cheese is special - it's some of the best cheese I've ever had on a taco. Hot, soft, and stretchy with a perfect level of melting, it adds a crazy amount of flavor to each bite. The other toppings are solid, but some more onions would've helped I think. Also, the dipping sauce used is around average, and unnecessary. This was kind of expensive for 3 tacos - coming in at $25 before tax and tip. It was a ton of food though. Overall, a new variation of taco I think I'm absolutely in love with. 9.25/10

They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.
