Was looking for a spot to have breakfast and I'm so happy I stumbled upon Cafe Luka :) It's a really cute spot, clean and while I only ordered a simple breakfast, it was out rather quick and was delicious ! Had a waffle, which was ok. Plain waffle with no fruits or anything of the sort. Service was mediocre or has ample room to improve, took long. Was asked if tip would be paid on card and then proceeded to charge 25% -could be a standard, however more than I thought service was worth. read more

Hands down the best spot in NYC for breakfast and brunch. I usually get a strawberry waffle with a side of bacon -- and it is the BEST bacon I've ever had. Service is fast and efficient every single time. The men who work here are absolutely wonderful and kind. Great people and even better food. Eggs benedict sauce is a congealed mess. Two tiny pieces of canadian bacon :( stingy for 20$ plate. Home fries were unseasoned. I only finished it because i didn't want to waste food. But it is hard to keep down. Will not return. Two stars for Friendly staff and Quick service. read more

I got the pancakes and bacon and they were great! Not only was the food and coffee good our waiters were very prompt and catered to our every need. Great breakfast here and friendly service! The decor is updated too, so it doesn't look like the chintzy old school diners that never gets updated. This is I think the most pleasing looking diner I've been to and I've been to many across the country. I was stressed out in the morning, happened upon this little gem, sat by the window with coffee and some hearty breakfast. The service was wonderful but this is a poor quality diner that is wayyyy too overpriced. I spent 62 dollars for two people, one of them being a child. I never leave reviews, but people.. stay home or go to a real diner like Madison. If you have to spend over 50 dollars for a breakfast you can make better at home- it's a no from me. read more

Love this place. Great food, friendly and quick service, HUGE portions and a clean and pretty venue. I had the corned beef Reuben sandwich and is was amazing. The corned beef is made on site and it was juicy and delicious. The sides of coleslaw and pickles were delicious. I normally hate coleslaw but this was delicious. I couldn't fault my meal. It was HUGE and delicious. My kids had a California burger and a hot dog and they too were very generous portions but also very delicious. They were very happy. Their chips are so yummy too. The man that served us was so friendly and polite. We had the perfect experience and I cannot fault it. I will be coming back again before I leave New York. read more

Visited this quaint neighborhood diner at 8:30 AM on a Sunday morning. The staff was friendly and attentive. The eggs, sausage and home fries were perfect - Sausage was crispy and juicy on the inside, home fries (asked for them well done) were crunchy on the outside and creamy potato-y goodness on the inside. Waffles and French toast were airy and buttery. Loved that they didn't serve coffee in the typical tiny mug and saucer, these were mugs you'd have at home! Probably wouldn't have noticed this place if we weren't in the 'hood but when they opened the veranda floor length windows it showcased a great city view! read more

This was my first visit to Luka's. It was a Saturday at 10am after running during Summer Streets. I was seated near (but not necessarily closed to) a couple of kids. The energetic manager asked me if I wanted to move but I was alright since I was alone and planned to be quick. I ordered the Western Omelette from a very pleasant Mario. I enjoyed my meal while listening to Whitney Houston. That did have televisions but were turned off. The food was fine but the staff brings the place up a notch. read more

The place to go when you need a good bite to eat. I believe it's open 24 hours. The service is decent and the food is good. The lunch specials have become expensive, however, the regular menu is fine. The matzoth ball soup is the best (and only soup I've tried here). The burgers have changed. I think they used to have hand formed ground beef. They seem to have gone to patty road. The milk shakes are expensive but tasty. You may even see a celebrity enjoying a meal. I got an AMAZING Greek salad delivered from this diner, so I do not understand the bad reviews. I ordered a small Greek salad with grilled chicken and no anchovies. Cafe Luka proves it through and through that the best Greek salads are found at diners. A small was oversized and had so many stuffed grape leaves and prob two full chicken breasts However, I didn't realize my salad was $20. My delivery order was: the small Greek salad with grilled chicken (more like a meal for 2!), a grilled cheese sandwich, French fries and chocolate milk. Which came to $52.00 with tip. read more

BEWARE!! Prices of their online menu (cafelukanyc.com) are about 35% lower than they actually charge. Recently we ordered a few items for delivery based on the prices of their online menu (not a 3rd party website) and when the food came, the bill was about 35% higher than the online prices. We called to complain and they told us "we're updating the website today". Well that was a couple of weeks ago and the same menu is still online. Absolute bandits. read more

Great breakfast at Cafe Luka. Quality ingredients, eggs the way I wanted them, and nice to see a lot of hospital staff enjoying their meals with friends. The best part, though, was how solicitous they were with our table. We had some people in our party who were frazzled and needed more than average TLC, and the Cafe Luka team went above and beyond. I've been to a lot of cafes and diners, not just in NYC, and cafe luka has been, to this date, the only place that charged me additional $1.25 for extra syrup on my pancakes. Oh, it's $1.25 for one "spoonful" of syrup. Another $1.25 needed for yet another spoonful on top of pricey but mediocre food. Classic rip-off cafe/diner disguised as a neighborhood spot. Quite unfortunate. I get that renovation is not cheap and you have to recoup the cost. But, from syrup? really? I wonder if the place was as terrible pre-renovation. read more

Always the best service, best brunch food, and a staple for my friends and I post-work nearby. We have been regulars here and the service is consistently friendly and mimosas really strong (1 at a time, beware!). The interiors are spacious with multiple seating throughout for booth or tables with options for outdoor seating as well. Will always recommend to all! read more

Delicious diner style cafe with beautiful decor. We tried items from several parts of the Menu. Breakfast was perfectly cooked eggs, quality bacon & generous portion of potatoes. Burger: delicious, well prepared & flavorful, with delicious crisp fries. Chicken souvlaki on warm, fresh pita tasted fantastic & came with a yummy side Greek salad & more of those great fries.
