So, the dollar amounts for the food are pricey (I paid $16 for a plain, modest sized plate of fettuccine Alfredo) but when you consider that the dishes do not come with a soup or salad, it adds to the price. What's confusing about the place is that it APPEARS to be a family dining type of place but it's clear that they insist upon only pricey options. There were no modestly priced items on the menu. I can understand why people would want to get just desserts here because once seated it's hard to get up and leave when you see what you are up against. Four of us ate and aimed for the most modestly priced items. We each had a soda. $95 was the total, not including a tip. Whoever is cooking, they made good food. I had passed by this restaurant many times because I thought it was a special event venue but one night I decided to stop in for lunch with my mom and was pleasantly surprised. The dining room is beautiful, very elegant looking and the servers are dressed well and pleasant. The lunch menu is great and the French onion soup is to die for!! I got the veggie wrap and it was wonderful. We came back a week later for dinner and were not disappointed. The food was delicious!!!! I try to come in once a month or so for lunch or dinner to support this small restaurant, especially during the covid pandemic. This is one restaurant we need to stay open. Just left Cafe Luna. Haven't been there in a while, went there every week for Happy Hour and used to be able to get a lunch type menu in the Bar area. Very limited Happy Hour menu. I ordered from the chalk board, however, there was no price. I was busy talking with friends, figured it couldn't be that much. I received shrimp & scallops with spaghetti. I got 3 shrimp and 3 scallops, cost $ 42.00. My fault for not asking. Lesson learned. I could go to a better restaurant with a better meal for that price. Never again!! read more

Full disclosure, this was a CONFUSING experience, and there may have been a language barrier of some sort? I'm not entire sure, but here goes. Husband and I went out on a Saturday night to try something new. Cafe Luna came up with good reviews, so we decided to go for it. It should have been a clue when the place was half empty at 6:45 on a Saturday night. The hostess sat us pretty promptly, though she really didn't say much beyond "how many?" and "okay." We sat for about 20 minutes while she brought over random items individually, like she had to put one silverware down, then a few minutes later another one, so on and so forth. Eventually a server came over and said, You know what you want? Again, just odd and awkward and cold. I ordered a cup of soup and chicken parm, husband got linguine with white clam sauce. So we waited. And waited. And waited. An hour after we arrived, the food came. No soup, just the entrees. Okay, fine, at that point we were starving so whatever, as long as they didn't charge me for it, it's fine. My chicken parm was okay. Average, nothing special, but certainly not $19 worth, especially not to come with soup/salad/etc. Husband's linguine was atrocious. Canned clams, oily, salty to the Nth degree, $23. He ate it because he was that hungry, but his mouth burned for 2 days on that taste and saltines. The 2 rolls in our basket (never refilled or offered) were on par with the frozen ones you can get at the grocery store. It took so long to get anything that I didn't even bother with a second ginger ale when our server finally returned. Only plus side was that his beers were only $4.50/each, which was oddly cheap given the prices on the rest of the menu. All told, $54 plus tip for a 2 hour meal that was really freaking strange. My husband and I went to Café Luna in Cromwell for dinner to celebrate our anniversary after we found out that they had veal parm! It was so delicious, best I've had in a long time. The veal was so tender, I could cut it with a fork; my hubby had the shrimp scampi and said it was delicious! We have been following a friend, who is a server, since she worked at Friendly's. Drinks are decent but I think they need to sharpen up on their martini skills a little. I was disappointed when we went there for Happy Hour and was told after we were finished that Happy hour does not apply at outdoor seating. WARNING: You might be charged double what you ordered. I went to Cafe Luna last night after a wedding. We sat in the Banquet Room and got separate checks in groups of 3 or 4. A couple of us shared dishes and they charged a share plate fee (which is understandable). However, not only did they charge us for the Share Plate fee but charged us for extra entrees. It happened to my group as well as the Bride and Groom's group. They also threw in some extra drinks. Maybe they thought no one would notice.
