Beautiful restaurant with great food and cocktails. The bartenders will make you whatever drink you want, exactly how you want. My drink of choice here would be a margarita with muddled jalapeños. The food is very tasty, but my favorite here is the pizza- hands down favorite pizza in Jersey so far. The environment is very welcoming and you definitely get that upscale feel. The only reason that Cafe Luna does not have 5 stars from me is the service. When you make reservations, you have to wait even longer when you get there. On top of that, the waiters always seem to be overwhelmed. They forget to put certain orders in, don't check up on you, or keep your drink sitting at the bar for quite some time. This is a very nice restaurant with comfortable tables and great food. However, I have been to this restaurant twice, and the service was terrible. The first time the food took a long time, but the staff tried their best to take care of the food, and it eventually came out. This time, though, it seemed like it took forever for the food to come out. We have our bread quickly come out. After, we finished we asked for another basket. We wait like 40 minutes, and food is still not out. Between, maybe every 30 minutes we asked for more bread. It took 5 times for us to get bread. 5! The food here is actually really good. Their food is always perfectly cooked, and always cooked to a nice warm temprature. They serve the best fettucine alfredo around with the creamiest alfredo sauce that will melt right into your mouth. The food, I had a steak was huge , served in an even bigger plate with plenty of garnishes, potatoes etc. My friend had the Branzini which was ok, but not great. The wine list is pretty good, the espresso was lukewarm but what turned me off it was the very noisy atmosphere, and the overall scene. I will give it another try. read more

I would really give Cafe Luna 3 1/2 stars if I could. Service: friendly and attentive Food: after 4 dinners over the past year-and-a-half, I've found that some things are very tasty, and some are just average. For instance, salads tend to have flavorless dressings, so I no longer order salad. Pastas are usually tasty and nicely al dente. Some entrees have been tasty (chicken paillard served with salad greens) and some rather dull (forgettable pork chop). Decor: not much to speak of, which kills the acoustics...it's kinda loud and echo-y. Overall, it's a place we hit about once a year, mainly because there aren't many decent, non-chain options here in Old Bridge, and we know what to expect and how to choose our appetizers and entrees. I came here for a friends birthday. The food had no flavor. For apps we had pizza and burrata which was good. Nice pizza. Fried zucchini sucked, no salt no cheese in the breading no flavor. The best Italian restaurant in NJ hands down! The food is excellent, the staff is attentive, courteous, and kind. The wine list is balanced and well-paired, and the bartender is a master of the mixed cocktail. Not to mention that all selections, including the specials, are reasonably priced. Went out to dinner with another couple for the first time here after living in The area my whole life. I have to say I was very very impressed. All four of our entrees were excellent. I know places have bad nights, but Saturday night was horrible. Should it take 2 1/2 for a couple of apps and dinner.....I think not....Waitress was invisible once we asked where the food was... Could not even get a piece of bread to hold us over....Finally dinner came out....2 orders of swordfish...looked like it was stomped on by a shoe. Heard 3 chefs were out partying and blew off work according to one of the hostesses...At least 3 others tables complained about no food and one table just left.....Oddly enough the table next to us was 6 regulars.....everyone in the restaurant knew this party.....They got their food right away. No wait...After 2 hours and 40 minutes the food came....the Veal Parm I ate was clearly under the heat lamp a little too long....I didn't dare send it back for fear of never eating dinner......All in all....we will not be back. read more

Absolutely one of the best restaurants around! Owner, Vinnie and Manager Sam couldn't be more accommodating! The Staff is excellent and they go out of their way to make your dining experience great! Very disappointed.... Long wait for main course to come after appetizer (fried calamari... A little to chewey for my taste), about 45 minutes to an hour.... I can forgive that. It was a very busy Saturday night, and those things happen... While presentation of entrees was very nice, taste left something to be desired. How do they only have 4 stars??? This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I found the pricing was fair, and the portions are generous. I was in with some business colleagues, and we started at the bar. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about every wine, liquor and mixed drink that we spoke to her about. I had the caesar salad, and eggplant pasta, which they added pine nuts too, on request. Both dishes were excellent. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. I just left Cafe Luna - I was very very disappointed. My server was horrific. She never told us the specials, I had to ask - asked for water twice before she finally brought it with dinner. No bread with appetizers (had to ask for). I specifically asked her what the dinner was served with she said roasted potatoes and vegetables. When our dinner came there was five potatoes and spinach which my husband doesn't eat. He ordered the filet of sole, it consisted of one small piece. He left hungry. Had to asked someone else for a dessert menu and for the check. She disappeared and as I was leaving saw her coming back in from outside (for real?) We got there at 7:30. waited 10 minutes for waiter to come to our table for drink order. we asked for a drink menu and that took another 5 minutes. 20 minutes later he never returned to our table and decided to attend to large party behind us instead. after we were there for 30 minutes and still not even a drink my husband was ready to leave. Instead, I went up to the hostess and told her the situation and that we were about to leave. So she wasn't properly trained. No big deal. Until of course she told us to chose a table and she'd follow with menus when she was done on the phone. Really? Kinda thought by the looks of the interior that the service would be better than seat yourself diner type. So we sat at a table which was properly set but filthy dirty and it wobbled. So its not just me who wasn't getting attention by the staff it's the table maintenance being ignored as well. Is there a manager in this establishment? Certainly didn't see one making any table visits. Then we got exactly 'no' service. Not even after we got up and asked someone to come take our order! Sat at the table for I can't tell you how long and no one came over. No bus boy with water even. The bartender made eye contact several times but no effort. I liked the look of the menu and it seemed well crafted but I guess I'll never know. I understand that some days are better than others but it was a Tuesday night and not crazy busy. Overall clean, modern, prompt, and delicious, but menu prices don't seem to add up. First visit today for workday lunchtime around 1pm. Place was larger than expected, but surprisingly quiet with only 2-3 tables occupied. It has more of a fine dining atmosphere than a cafe. Host/waiter was welcoming and attentive. Food came out promptly and accurate. The portions were healthy especially for the lunch menu, but the food prices were odd. For example: My amazing lunch of salmon champagne with broccoli rabe was a fair $10, but a colleague ordered just a side of the rabe and that was $10. Another colleague ordered the 12in personal wood-fired pizza and it came out looking delicious and on a hot stone. It was a steal at $8, but a side order of nothing special french fries were $6. All of it looked and tasted fantastic so I'll definitely be back, but I will need to get more accustomed to the menu and encourage folks to stick to the core Italian menu. If I just had to rate the service and the courtesy of the staff, I would give this restaurant 5 Stars, however, the dish I ordered was not enjoyable. I ordered a Frittata for brunch with crab meat, mushrooms and asparagus. Sounds delicious, right? When I took my first bite, I saw and tasted plum tomatoes and greens in a vinaigrette dressing. It tasted awful, and I called the waiter over to say that they gave me the wrong Fritatta. He said that my dish was correct, and advised me that the reason I was tasting the tomatoes and the greens was because the salad that came with the meal was placed directly underneath the dish, instead of on the side. I never heard of a salad underneath any type of dish, let alone an egg dish. I was pressed for time, so I did not return it. I lifted the Frittata up, moved all the salad to the side, and tried to enjoy it as best as I could. Even though I removed the salad, there was still a vinaigrette aftertaste on the eggs, and they didn't taste the way they should have. I ordered a cappuccino after the meal, and it was very good, however, I cannot give this more than an "okay" rating, because I didn't enjoy my eggs at all. read more

I've been here a few times before and liked the food, so I made a reservation for my family for Mother's Day dinner. When we sat down at the restaurant, I was surprised to see a special pre fixe menu, as it was not mentioned when I called to make the reservation that they would not have their regular menu available. There were no prices listed anywhere which was unnerving but we had driven from out of town to go there, and on Mother's Day, I was unsure of where else I could get a table last minute for dinner, so we stayed. The food was below average, and I feel like we should have been told ahead of time that there would be a special menu- it felt like bait and switch. My brother has dietary restrictions so he couldn't even eat two of the courses (with no offer of a replacement), and the bill was an astronomical $400 for 3 people, one drink, and a coffee. There was an automatic 20% gratuity, which I would have paid anyway because our server Jason was great, but they also charged us nearly 4% extra for paying with a card, far higher than what is required to pay credit card fees. Overall the experience felt like a cash grab and I will no longer be returning there for dinner. read more

Great place! My husband took me here for a date night on a Saturday night. The wait was about 45 minutes but it was okay because we got a seat at the bar and had 2 drinks. The bartender recommended a great drink for me which I appreciated. I usually stick to Vodka Club Soda but she recommended a flavored vodka instead and it was delicious. When we got to our table we got a bread basket which was also delicious. We ordered the fried calamari and the Italian Egg Rolls to start and both were amazing. We were already full after the appetizers but of course had to push through. My husband got a shrimp pasta and I got the chicken parm. Both were also amazing. For dessert we got the tartufo which was also very good. The only downside is they didn't have the chocolate bag dessert which I really really wanted. This is by far the BEST Italian food in the area! I am Italian & trust me when I say that this is true Italian food. Every dish I've tried here has been amazing, especially the "Linguini Nere". Came here for a birthday dinner. The ambiance is nice and the staff was friendly. The bread served at the table was ample and fresh. The table ordered calamari and the mango salad special. The calamari was melt in your mouth tender and the salad was (huge) tasty. My husband tried the filet which came with mashed potatoes and veggies. The steak was very tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The birthday boy orders the grilled pork chops and they were also cooked perfectly as they were moist and tender. I ordered the orichette with broccoli rabe and sausage. It was ok. The only thing I didn't like was it was swimming in olive oil, because when I tipped the bowl, a big puddle of olive oil accumulated at the end of the bowl. We topped off dinner with dessert, where I had the tiramisu. It was nothing special but it was a huge portion m. When crowded, the restaurant gets pretty loud. First time almost no alcohol and the second time the pineapple taste like can. My girlfriends drinks taste like tanked water. The food was good not going to say it wasn't at least what I had. This is typically one of my fave restaurants when I'm back at home in NJ. Last time in though over the weekend...it wasn't the same feel. The former manager is gone...our waiter walked out during his shift...we had to ask someone to look for him. While we did get an apology no one offered us anything except a shot of alcohol.
