I very much liked the food itself here and the vegetarian and vegan friendly menu. The prices for portion size was a bit high though and the atmosphere was loud crowded and kind of awkward. I'd be willing to try it again because the quality of the food was good. I do find the atmosphere not very much to my liking. It was upscale casual kind of feel and like I said noisy and small. It for some reason just didn't make me feel comfortable or very welcoming. I wanted to finish quickly and get out of there. So in conclusion good food, pricey, not my kind of atmosphere. read more

We have given Cafe Lush a chance twice now, and were once again disappointed by the food. Service was decent. The sodas were weird and from whole foods, which, to each their own. Their food is like the Netflix show "Nailed It", where they make it look good on the outside but the taste and food quality is what really matters. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito with hash browns, he said it wasn't bad. I got the gluten free french toast because I have celiac, and as Gordon Ramsay would probably say, it was hideous. Like I said, they were so concerned about it looking good on the outside, but when I took a bite, it instantly made me nauseous. Mushy middle with raisins and apple peels, in FRENCH TOAST? At that point, just make it normal! Bread, cinnamon, eggs! That is it! They asked me if I wanted anything else and I politely declined. There was no point. Tasty, light and fresh. I've been on a mission to find good local(ish) breakfast tacos and a few people mentioned Cafe Lush. I'm glad they did! While I didn't get food photos (they were packed and I took mine to go), their breakfast tacos were great with fresh produce and some strong, flavorful green Chile. Also good balance on the lightness: while the tacos themselves weren't heavy, this was more than enough to eat. Let me start by saying the food is good. Inside the AC isn't great. You might want to sit outside. The reason I gave it a 1 star is the customer service. This was my first time and I was meeting two people to eat. I opened the door for all three of us and with our questions a thicker younger lady that's a server there rudely asked me to close the door because the flies come in (when I am opening it to walk in). This a a cute little cafe with extremely friendly staff! Excellent gluten free options and everything is very fresh! Seating is limited inside, & there are a few tables outside. I had the omelette with green chili turkey sausage, spinach, mushrooms and roasted peppers. I can honestly say out of the hundreds of omelettes that I've eaten in my brunching experiences this was hands down the best ever! Seriously! So much flavor, cooked to perfection and the right amount and distribution of all the ingredients. My son had the french toast - it's not normal french toast, it's stuffed. For a kid with texture issues this was a no-go! He ended up eating from mine and my husbands plate. Their drip coffee is good - nice and smooth, easy to drink. This is the second time I've ordered this burger, it is consistent and cooked to perfection! I've been dining at this charming little cafe for a few years now and have had the opportunity to try just about every item on the menu. You really can't go wrong with what ever it is you choose to eat. The salads are flavorful and very different than anything you would order anywhere else. The breakfast tacos are a must and the slaw is outstanding! So now that I've bragged about the food let me tell you about the cafe it's self. It's very small which is part of its charm. The restrooms are located around the corner of the building and they are nice and clean! There is additional seating outside as well. The cafe closes at 2:30pm I believe, it's a great place for brunch, however do not expect a mimosa, there is no alcohol as it is located across the street from a school and church. The Chef is friendly and works hard in that little kitchen. His cooking is definitely made with love and you can tase it. It's been a while since I had eaten at Cafe Lush and I was reminded today why l continually go back. With all the choices out there, I suggest you choose this place sometime in your near future. From the breakfast pizza, a large hash brown patty, mixed with cheese and covered with eggs, to the French toast, a GF bread pudding, doused with cinnamon and yummy syrup on the side, and to the veggie hash, a yummy bowl of superfoods, all their menu items are great. My friend and I were really excited to try this new to us local spot but were sadly disappointed. The wait staff was rude and would cut me off mid sentence and not listen, it took 30+ minutes for breakfast burritos to come out and once we cut into our burritos we couldn't help but notice our eggs were grey/brown in color. We thought maybe they were made in a cast iron potentially changing the color. After the first bite they tasted of cinnamon and vanilla like the eggs were for French toast batter. Yuck. Yum! This place has amazing food and huge portions! I am Gluten Free and everything can be made Gluten free- I also didn't have any reactions which is always a plus. There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed everything that we ordered. I do have two complaints though, The eggs Benedict Had egg shells in it, I mean like half an egg of egg shells- not sure how but it also told me at least they are fresh (:-) ). The other complaint is the service, there was one lady there who just looked angry while walking around and almost like everything was an Inconvenience to her... maybe she was having a bad day but seemed to me like that was just her. Cafe Lush is worth the trip to the Sawmill neighborhood. I've been here only for breakfast. Their Lushaladas is fun, decadent and delicious. Their Tofu Scramble is tasty and generous on the vegetables. My most recent visit was to check out their Fruit & Yogurt Parfait for my Granola Fruit Yogurt List here on Yelp. They describe their Parfait as having fresh fruit and seasonal berries with yogurt and crunchy granola. $5.95. Much to my relief, instead of arriving in a parfait glass, it came in a generous bowl. The Parfait was generously loaded with low-fat vanilla yogurt, Kashi GoLean Crunch granola and all fresh fruit. For not being homemade granola, they made a great choice with Kashi's. I had melon, strawberries, oranges and pineapple. The chef quickly grills the pineapple, so it has the appearance of being grilled, yet it still tastes fresh, a fun detail. This place fills up fast during lunch. Got there at 12:45 to order take out. Didn't leave till 1:05. Twenty minutes. I was also asked to move seats two different times so that different parties could sit (a two and four top.) It's fair, I get it. I should have just waited outside from the get go. After the second time I finally just decided to stand in the back corner because of how uncomfortable it was being asked to move several times. A single person wound up taking the chair that was offered to me, just a few minutes after I opted to stand. Eventually I was offered a table where silverware was being rolled, but considering I had been waiting about fifteen minutes at this point, I figured the food had to be coming out soon. The ladies who work there are super friendly, the food is good. I paid ~13 for a sandwich, chips, water, and a tip. Need to eat this open faced sandwich with a fork because it's so loaded you can't use your hands without making a mess. It's a tiny place, next time I'll just call ahead. read more

For some reason I've avoided this place or just found it inconvenient to stop by. Today, since my normal bakery spot was closed and Cafe Lush had croissant on its menu, I decided to give this place a try. Won't be coming again. Despite being busy, the waitress was polite. I placed my order to go and sat at a table near the counter to wait. Although I didn't wait long, it seemed too long for just a simple bakery item that should already be prepared and ready to hand across the counter. After about 5 minutes, I saw the cook slam what appeared to be my croissant on top of a container on the counter (with no plate or paper between the croissant and container) and place the ticket over it. The waitress immediately grabbed it, wrapped it to go and gave it to me. When I got home and opened it, I saw that it was toasted and burnt. I wasn't asked if I wanted it toasted. I'm the easiest customer you will probably have. If you can't get this simple order right, then you've got bigger problems. Don't make it difficult to support your local business. read more
