Great food, love their chicken kabob plate with the rice and Mediterranean fries. However, if you wanna order takeout, make sure you do it *at least* an hour before they close. I've tried ordering takeout from here 40 minutes before they were scheduled to close and they've flat out refused to take my order even though it was still 40 minutes until closing (literally a chicken plate and a wrap, so a simple order). Another time it was an hour before closing and I walk up and the employees are locking up and leaving for the night (& yes I checked that I had the correct closing time). Guess the employees don't know about keeping to a schedule! Maybe they should post an addendum every time they wanna leave early or something lol read more

My cousin and I had an amazing lunch at Cafe Moderno today. The restaurant was clean and we were immediately greeted upon arrival. The food was excellent, filling, and flavorful. My mom got the chicken entree with potatoes and Greek side salad, she said it was really good. I had the falafel wrap with a Greek side Salad which was delicious! My family and I wanted to try something new so I found this place. We came in, a couple in front of us was ordering. When they finished we waited patiently. The girl taking the orders never acknowledged us. After about five minutes I said we were ready to order. The girl behind the counter was continuing to type away at the computer and said "just another minute". We waited ten minutes without her acknowledging us again. She never said there was some sort of technical error you are welcome to have a seat while we fix it, nothing. No customer service what so ever. Have to say I was very impressed with the service here. I use to come here a lot when it was Theo's cafe. I have not had everything but I do love the falafel here very tasty and hearty amount. For the coffee drinkers I do recommend trying the Omari house blend coffee very subtle,nutty,smooth taste a very good cup. Hello Yelpers, I was curious to try out a Mediterranean food place so me and my Daughter (Mexicanos) gave this place a try, I happen to have my car at the Firestone tire shop next door, we were there about 11am order a steak pita and a 1 kebab plate (comes with 2 sides rice and humus) and 1 coffee almost 22.00 bucks,,,I feel the same as one other Yelper who posted that food was good but portions were small,,I definitely feel the same,,,wish I could grade each field individually...need to mention that my pita took about 22 minutes to come out and the kebab took over 30 min to come, my Daughter had left she was on her 30 min lunch break, the lady gave us some free pastries (forgot what they were called) to make up for the long time,,,she also mention that fact that the grill was cold and that someone had call out, I have work in the restaurant business, and have family who owns restaurants, (you have to be there ready when you open) and not have this happen...I worked in restaurants where the kitchen work group would get there 30-60 early to get some things ready, at least the grill hot... p.s I really would encourage them to put up some picture menus with item tittles,,,not all of us know what to order.. Arrived Friday night at 8:20, figured everything was ok, they close at 9:00. Made it to the register at 8:26 and we were told that we could order, but wouldn't be allowed to eat in the restaurant because they were closing in a half an hour.. really?? Wanted to burst out of my normal eating spots and try something new. I came in open minded, but in the end I'm just not satisfied. Service was ok, there was about a 10 minute wait. But it is the food quality is what left me wanting more, I ordered a grilled chicken wrap. The chicken itself was flavorless, but if it was properly marinated, it was overcooked which deprived it of any good flavors. The wrap as a whole was a soggy mess and the juice ruined the pita bread. Also my of french fries were overcooked you could hear them crunching from across the room. In conclusion, I think the prices are too high considering what I was given it terms of both quality and quantity. Great food, very hospitable service! I had been wanting to try this place for some time and today a I had a craving for hummus and falafel and finally tried it. Called to place an order the girl answering the phone hung up on me twice finally the third time she took my order. It took them one hour and twenty minutes to get my order ready. The feta fries were delicious, made me forget about ketchup. The chicken was excellent and they even made fries for me since they thought they took a little too long but everything was brought perfectly and fast. This is my first time here. My first impression is that the place is spotless - a great sign. The woman who took our order at the counter is very pleasant and patient. I ordered the 1 steak kabob with a side of rice pilaf and hummus. The steak arrived hot, juicy and nicely seasoned. The tzatziki sauce and hummus are both delicious as well. Okay, I have family in Greece and have spent a great deal of time there. Most places in so cal say "Greek" food but it's actually Turkish or middle eastern. Yes, there is a lot of Turkish influence in Greek food, but there is still a difference. This is the closest thing to Greek food I have found in so cal so far. The gyros are awesome and they they make great horiatiki which is what Greek salad is really like in Greece. There's a lot of stereotypical Greek/Turkish fusion stuff that Americans like. And you won't find moussaka or saganaki or kleftiko. But if you want souvlaki or gyro with an authentic Greek flavor base, go here. It's clear the owner is familiar with authentic GREEK food and that's hard to find. They also made "Mediterranean fries" which is their own invention but heavenly. It's fries with (I think) paprika and lemon juice on them. Soooo goooood. Love love love this place. Will be back again soon. read more

The food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. We went in for dinner last night with our 17 month old, and needless to say, he's at the phase where he communicates in a loud tone and throws food when he's had enough. 2nd time I been here and I wanted to order food to take to work and well I was behind this lady that was ordering and this "old caucasian man" was behind me, and after the lady order it was my turn and all of a sudden this old man went up to the register and order before me, he knew I was in line and this bat shit old man cut in front of me. I usually never really experience the so call "white privilege" but today it was front and center. I am so piss but I didn't say anything, the girl at the register should have notice that I was next I was standing there for a good 5 minutes waiting like any normal person. So I ask her "did that man just cut in front of me?" Returned to dine at the restaurant for Valentine dinner. Gave wife option of eating at our fav sushi spot or flemings steak dinner. The food was so good she couldn't wait to dine here again. Had the same plates kabobs very good even better when u eat them freshly made. Tried mediterranean fries, loved the spicy vinegar flavor. This gem needs to replace the Mediterranean restaurant in downtown Claremont which is horrible. I'm surprised it isn't more busy during lunch because the food really is delicious. I got chicken kabobs with hummus, fattoush salad, and tzatziki as sides. First of all, the tzatziki is SO yummy! I wish the hummus didn't have such a thick consistency but it still tastes good especially with the oil in the middle. I don't know how they make their salad dressing but it was great.
