We hadn't visited this restaurant for a few years and decided to go back and were absolutely amazed at the beautiful landscaping and outdoor Cafe. It is especially nice since the space is oriented to the South and not to the street. The food was very good. We took a party of six people there as we wanted to introduce them to the restaurant but sadly again we found that they don't serve coffee after 5:00. How incredible is this. A few of our guests said they might come for lunch but they won't come for dinner again. What does it take to make a cup of coffee. I remember we quit going there because they wouldn't make coffee after dinner and felt confident after a few years they might have learned that nobody does this at least not in the states. Of course I will go back but maybe not as often as I might have because I really do enjoy a nice cup of coffee especially in the beautiful setting they have created. Always good with a friendly atmosphere! Food is seasoned well; love their beef. Cucumber rolls are excellent even though cucumbers are not my favorite. What a lovely little place in south city! If you're looking for traditional Mediterranean food, look no further. Cafe Nova offers an array of items from hummus to gyros. If you're like myself and can't make up your mind, get the Mediterranean platter and have it all! I would also highly recommend the Falafel plate. The restaurant is small and quaint, not fancy, but you can tell they put effort into it. Every server we have had has been welcoming and attentive. It looks like this place might have a lot of takeout business being on the smaller side and in the middle of the Princeton Heights neighborhood. Used to be a great place for coffee and pastries and nice people. Now it's a wino bar pushing alcohol in a tiny uncomfortable space.

I'll start off by saying Cafe Nova's food is very good with a nice presentation. The atmosphere is very nice. The problem is their service is as bad as their food is good. This review is not based on one visit. In fact I'm writing this after our fifth visit. I will say their lunch service personnel are much more attentive and competent. Their dinner shift folks...not so much. We walked out on our fifth visit. When we walked in there were two servers standing there yet neither one acknowledged us. No hello, nothing. After five minutes we basically sat down on our own. About the time we sat down, the kitchen placed food on the counter for the servers to bring out. I mention this because it was still sitting there when we walked out. Ten minutes later a server said hello and brought us over menus and water. Then nothing for about twenty minutes and then we decided to leave. Sadly two other tables walked out about the same time. And who ever ordered the food sitting out on the counter for about thirty minutes probably had cold food. read more

went to Cafe Nova because I saw a tiktok about their gyros. My friend and I both ordered a gyro and there were long strands of hair in our food. I'm so glad i inspected my food before taking a bite. Spoke to a waitress who did offer to make it over but we decided to leave because we no longer trusted the food and whatever was going on in the kitchen. The waitress then caught an attitude. I hate to give a 2 star review because I think the owners are hard workers and nice people, but the last several times I've been here for takeout or dine in the service has been terrible. Specifically the younger girls who work there never check in on you or acknowledge the insanely long wait times. They say it will be a few minutes and 30 mins after your expected pick up time, you're still waiting. Their attitude is to ignore you until your food is ready, then ignore you again until you flag them down after waiting way too long for a bill. Never any apologies or customer service. It's a shame because the food is great but it's not worth the wait times or risking your health when the servers and checkout person can't be bothered to keep their masks on. read more

Wee ate here on Monday evening about 5pm and sat on the back patio which is very lovely and spacious. There were 4 of us, 2 of us had Pannini's and two had gyros all were excellent. We each had 1 drink and for the four of us with one dessert to go came to 86 dollars. We were there at least two hours talking and caring on with no pressure to leave even though they seemed to be filling up all the tables. Very casual but comfortable dining experience. As a sweet wine person, he found a GREAT wine. The meal was a treat to the eyes and to the palate. Our meals began with Greek salad ... so cooling, so crisp - a true delight! Then I had lamb shank. Had a gals' night and went a couple of weeks ago. Everyone tried different items on the menu and loved everything!! The menu items are from family recipes and tasted great. I think I have just found my new go-to place for gyros! I ordered the nova gyro and it was just sooo good. The pita bread they used was particularly soft and held up well despite how much filling it was holding. The gyro also came with the biggest side of fries that I couldn't finish myself and shared with the rest of my table. Unassuming on the outside, decent setting on the inside, it's the food for sure that will win you over. I defaulted to some overall favorites, spanakopita, hummus and baklava and I have to say some of the best I've had anywhere. I was enjoying this place as a breakfast hangout, but when I took my family of 9 to dine at lunch I got the hubby owner instead of wife owner to wait on us. The place wasn't busy, but he was slow to come to our table. He had a very dominant personality in the way he dealt with taking the orders, shushing people, and when I ordered the tuna sandwich and asked for melted swiss cheese to be added to it, he sat there and gave me crap about it because he didn't like my food taste. Now, I realize that many food snobs, chefs, and people from other countries don't support the idea of mixing cheese with seafood, but if I order a tuna melt, don't stand there and give me crap about it and talk to me in front of my family like I'm nuts. A friend introduced me to this quaint little cafe by his house. They focus on mediteranean dishes but you can get burgers and wings here as well. I tried the spicey chicken gyro. It combines buffalo chicken with a traditional gyro and it is freaking awesome. The buffalo sauce and tzaziki are a perfect match... and the gyro is huge. Plus it's served with some killer seasoned fries. The wife got a burger and it too was really good. Both were under $8 each. Service was friendly, and it's clear this a family run spot.
