Nutella crepe $10 and Turkish coffee $5
    Scott F.

4.6/5: The Falafel plate is pricey but good: $19. Falafel flavor is great; not super crunchy but good enough. Salad is good. The hummus and baba ganouj are OK. The pita is nicely heated up. I recommend an extra pita: $3. 4.0: Nutella crepe. Pretty good. 1.0: The Turkish coffee is very weak.

3.5 stars. didn't realize how bad my pictures were lol. stumbled upon this place to have a quick working lunch. we ordered lentil soup, falafel, and a salmon wrap. salmon wrap seems pretty fresh and not greasy - very simple wrap. lentil soup wasn't bad either but wasn't spectacular either. falafel was a bit salty tho altho very fresh looking.

I frequent downtown Los Altos and always make it a point to stop by Cafe Nur. Their food is delicious, staff is kind and their prices are reasonable given the quality of their food. Today I ordered their Greek salad with chicken. The chicken was so moist and flavorful and the salad had romaine lettuce, diced cucumber, tomato, olives, feta and the most delicious green dressing. It was accompanied by pita and a piece of watermelon which was such a nice surprise. I also had tea as I waited, it had a beautiful aroma and was very smooth with a slight herbal flavor. I came here at 12:30 and was able to get my food in about 10 minutes. They are always quick which is great especially during lunch time. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has the option for outside dining. Give Cafe Nur a try on your next trip to downtown Los Altos, they are worth the visit.

Great service, food, friendly staff. The owners are very welcoming. I like the outside seating, they also sell halva from turkey and olives which I bought.

Living close by and not sure why we haven't been here before!! Amazing Turkish food in a beautiful setting. It is supposed to be casual dining and the setting, good and presentation stands out as more!!! We opted for the special of the day lamb and kofte platter and sat outside on a beautiful Friday evening and excited that downtown Los Altos had the Friday night buzz with many diners out!! The food was prepared in a timely manner, the presentation was beautiful (see pictures), and the taste was amazing. Not sure why some reviewers complained about the meat not being juicy, both the kofte and lamb were full of flavor and juicy!! The sides of babaganush and hummus was amazing as well. Wish we could have tried the desserts. Maybe next time... BTW, was tempted to try the Turkish breakfast for dinner and decided to go back for breakfast once...

    Yummy Mediterranean Food for lunch!

My girl and I are in the Bay Area frequently. We have been exploring the different Main Streets in the cities of the peninsula. We landed in Los Altos Friday afternoon. What a charming district. We love to Thrift so the Discovery store was our first stop. Then we realized we were famished and we strolled across the street based on the recommendation of the lady behind the counter at the Discovery store! Cafe Nur was deserted at 1:30 in the afternoon. We both ordered the lamb and beef gyros, I had the plate she got the wrap. I also got us an order of the baklava (2 pieces). My lunch was spectacular. The meat was a perfect portion of well seasoned, tender meat, with a glorious salad and the rice pilaf was delicious! The wrap was the exact same ingredients, but was a tender envelope of soft flat bread. The baklava was stuffed with pistachio perfection, crispy and sweet. The small cups of hot tea were a dreamy accompaniment. The flavors were so authentic, the service was fast and efficient! We sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon! We like Los Altos very much. I think we may make this a regular stop on our way to Half Moon Bay!

My good friend and I come here monthly for our catch up days. He's a vegetarian and still manages to find the food super tasty. The people who work here are very kind and brought us tea to enjoy with our dessert. Ask for extra olives. They make everything taste better!

    Turkish Breakfast!!

Great service and I like the decor as well. Now for the food - we had breakfast here and it did not disappoint! The eggs had very good spices to it. The pita bread was OK but the rest of the food made up for it. Meat is halal. .- Try it out ! We had the Turkish breakfast for two - which was also reasonably priced!

    10/10 shakshuka

The most kind staff. Went over the top to accommodate and make this a special experience. I have been here for dinner multiple times and the food has always been a 10/10. Just enjoyed brunch for the first time and it was the best shakshuka I have ever had! Must try!!

When it comes to Mediterranean food, I usually play it 'safe' and stick with chicken or beef plates/wraps. I decided to try the chicken gryo plate and it did not disappoint. Everything was super fresh and tasty, but wasn't a huge fan of the pita breads or the sauce/hot sauce given with the orders. Not that those things will keep me from coming back in the future, but I have had other places, that in my opinion have better pita bread. The rice was super good and not at all dry. Nice and fluffy, almost buttery. The chicken was seasoned and marinated well and not a dry piece on the plate. Salad was super fresh and tasty as well! In the heart of downtown Los Altos with a bunch of other delicious spots to try. If you are close by, check them out!

While in the Los Altos downtown, we were looking for a spot to eat and found this on Yelp. It was a nice find. We enjoyed the food on the hot day and sat outside under the umbrellas on the benches. I ordered a greek salad with chicken and it was very good and fresh. It came with few pieces of bread on the side. The service was great. I would recommend!

The hummus is super creamy and light, not too oily. The pita bread is exactly how I like it. It's thin and light. Best thing to dip into that hummus. For the entree I had the beef shish and the meat was spot on. Juicy and not dry. You don't even need the sauce because the meat stands well on its own! That's how good it is. We both had the ground chicken kebabs this time and they were much drier than they had been before. So dry that my fork couldn't cut through it easily. The waiter informed me that he was aware, but it was due to the cooking process. I wish I had sent it back early on, as I've never had kebabs that dry. We also missed the grilled tomato and pepper they used to add to the plate and the salad was very light and plain--it had one small cucumber slice and it didn't have much dressing. It was disappointing and I don't know if we'll be back again anytime soon.

Our table was the first one from the entrance, which was great because we had the chance to partake in some "people watching" and seeing some adorable doggies on their walk from the window. As we were eating, more and more people started showing up. Our service did not decline and we were treated wonderfully. We all shared a couple of appetizers: Saganaki, Barbayani Thalasa Tiganites, Octopodi, Horiatiki Salad and Greek Fries. Drinks ordered were a mocktail and Bee's Knee. For dessert, we got the Lemoni Crème Brûlée. Everything was delicious, but the Lemoni Crème Brûlée, OMG!!! The best! It was tangy and sweet, the perfect combo. We each had a lemon half...if only these yellow lemons were the size of a grapefruit! Ahahaha. I was trying to savor every last bit of the filling. Plus, the plating looked superb. Parking is street parking, so it can get hectic. There are also parking lots in the surrounding areas. I did see a 3% living wage surcharge added to the bill. As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.

We stopped by during a really busy Farmer's Market hoping to rest for a moment. If you've ever been to Los Altos Farmer's Market you know how busy it can be with a lack of seating anywhere. I was accompanying my father who has Parkinson's and is in a wheelchair--and we saw an empty outdoor table belonging to the restaurant (unbeknownst to us), but on the side of State Street Market. The table had no chairs, wasn't set up, and wasn't being used at the time or for the remainder of the evening (see the photo for the state the table was in all night). When we attempted to use the table to eat, an employee confronted us with complete indifference and an unnecessarily rude attitude, showing zero empathy or flexibility for someone needing a brief accommodation. He stated very rudely "Move him to the street or find some place inside State Street!" Basic courtesy and respect cost nothing. A restaurant's hospitality is reflected in how its staff treats people, whether they are currently paying customers or not. Based on this unfriendly interaction, I cannot recommend supporting a business that treats individuals with disabilities and their families with such lack of respect.

Meyhouse Sunnyvale -- Excellent Food, but the Service Pacing Could Be Much Better…read more I tried the $44.95 three-course prix fixe lunch and chose the Köpoğlu as my meze, upgraded the main to the Adana Kebab for $3, and added the Künefe for $2. The food was the strongest part of the experience, and several things stood out more than I expected. The complimentary bread was excellent--warm, fragrant, and nicely textured. I also really enjoyed the green herb sauce served with it. The parsley and mint flavors were quite pronounced, almost grassy, but in a good way. It was fresh and aromatic and worked very well with the bread. The Köpoğlu was one of the highlights of the meal. The roasted eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic yogurt, and olive oil were very well balanced. I especially liked the garlic yogurt--the acidity, garlic, and creaminess were all present without any one element overpowering the others. The tomato added sweetness and acidity, while the olive oil rounded everything out. It was especially good with the bread. The Adana Kebab was also very good. My first bite came from the end of the skewer and was slightly dry, but once I got into the center, the meat was noticeably juicier. The char from the grill was excellent, and the lamb had a clear lamb flavor without being gamey. The chopped red pepper mixed into the meat also added another layer of aroma and flavor. Even the rice surprised me. It looked like plain white rice, but it was flavorful enough to eat on its own, with a noticeable buttery, almost milky aroma. The flatbread underneath the kebab was also very good after soaking up some of the lamb juices and fat. If I had one criticism of the main plate itself, it would be the proportion of onion-tomato salad to meat. The salad tasted fine, but for my preference, there was a little too much of it. I really enjoy the lingering flavor of grilled lamb, and while the rice and bread help carry that flavor, the raw onion and tomato act as a strong palate cleanser and erase it quickly. Since the meat portion was relatively small compared with the rice and salad, I would personally prefer a little more kebab and a little less salad. The Künefe was another highlight. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy kadayıf on the outside and the soft, warm cheese inside. The pistachios on top were not something I particularly enjoyed by themselves, but mixed together with the cheese, syrup, and crispy pastry, they made much more sense. The first few bites, especially the areas that had not absorbed too much syrup, were excellent. Toward the center it became a little sweeter than I prefer, but overall I still liked it very much. Food-wise, I would actually give Meyhouse a slight edge over Dishdash. There were more layers and more small details to notice throughout the meal, from the bread and herb sauce to the Köpoğlu, Adana, rice, flatbread, and dessert. The service, however, did not match the level of the food. The restaurant was quite quiet at lunch, but the pacing was surprisingly rushed. I had barely started eating the Köpoğlu when the main course arrived. For a menu specifically presented as a three-course prix fixe, I expected the courses to be paced more deliberately. Instead, I had to choose between continuing to enjoy the appetizer and eating the kebab while it was still hot. There was also an issue with clearing the table. One staff member who was not the person taking my order repeatedly tried to remove my bread and the green herb sauce. The first time, I specifically asked him to leave the sauce. Later, after I finished the main course, he came back and again started clearing both without asking. I told him I wanted the bread to go, so he left the bread, but still removed the herb sauce. It was a small detail, but it made the service feel mechanical rather than attentive to what the guest had already requested. Overall, I would rate the food around 8.5/10 and the service around 6.5-7/10. Meyhouse is a little more expensive than Dishdash, but the prix fixe lunch is also very substantial. I only ate about half of the complimentary bread, and I was already quite full after the main course. Finishing the Künefe left me completely stuffed, so the portion size is definitely generous. I would still come back. Next time, I would probably try the Ahtapot, especially since it is only a $9 upgrade on the prix fixe compared with $25 à la carte. The food gives me a reason to return; I just hope the pacing and attention to small service details are better next time.
