Our server Ellie appeared, waters were delivered and she took our drink order. Our drinks were delivered and our food order was taken. Seamless, and quick, even with some questions from the ladies. Mind you, it was lunch time on Castro Street, pedestrians only, so very trendy. Busy. NOISE LEVEL LOUD. You may remove hearing aids. DOUBLE SMASH BURGER $19.50 garlic dijonnaise / American cheese / red onion / dill pickles and that was it. Top bun was room temperature, and the bottom bun was only warm from the cooked meat. Had a nice grilled cheese burger aroma, tasting like any other greasy, juicy, salty, cheese burger, nothing different or special. Accompanying fries were mildly seasoned, and I found no need to add salt. It was good, would order it again, but I don't feel it's worth the price. From the $13.00 special price menu: FISH & CHIPS $13.00 - what there was of the small portion of fish was seasoned well, as were the chips (fries). The Brit (the Duchess) in the party, gave her approval. The realm settled into contentment. COKE - $3.95 - glass with ice and straw was just enough to get me through my meal. GINGER LIME SODA - $7.00 - the Duchess was not happy with her order stating it was too sour, lacking any sweetness. She would never, ever order again and especially not at this price. The other couple in our party ordered Eureka burgers (American Swiss / grilled red onion / lettuce / house pickles / tomato / special sauce) substituting cheddar cheese for the Swiss. These burgers did come with bite size lettuce, a slice of tomato and pickle chips and fries. A side of onion rings completed their meal. I stole the woman's pickle chips and the flavor was great, just perfect . . . yum. Accompanied by two IPA beers. The cloudy lagers seemed to fill the bill. These burgers appeared to be just normal, greasy, juicy, salty regular cheese burgers. Nothing to take your breath away. SERVICE: Great! Ellie was attentive without hovering. It was a busy lunchtime hour, but they seem to have enough staff to handle the lunch rush. Ellie handled our table expertly with some patience I might add, so 5 stars to her. 2nd time here and I probably won't return. Pricing and noise level are a concern. When I tell you a DiGiorno pizza is better than their rendition of a margarita pizza, it's not an exaggeration. My pizza literally had four tiny sprigs of basil. And their olive paste garnish on it is unnecessary. Their twist on the margarita pizza was not appetizing. I can't complain about their fries though. It was basically the only thing we ate that we enjoyed. Their guacamole was rough too. Lacked flavor. The dessert was the biggest disappointment, food-wise. It appeared to be a brownie baked on a chocolate chip cookie, cut into a pie slice. It was HARD. I gave up trying to get my spoon through it. Needed a steak knife. The ice cream was fine. After this experience, we decided we would not be eating at the restaurant for the rest of our time at the hotel. We went and picked up food or ordered in. The bartenders seemed nice, but once the afternoon hit, my daughter had to wait over 30 minutes for a Shirley Temple to be brought to the pool. After waiting too long I decided to get up and go to the bar and ask what was going on. Her Shirley Temple was sitting there at the bar, and they had accidentally put it in a typical glass, which is not permitted at the pool. The bartender apologized because the server who had taken my order at the pool, did not relay to the bartender that the order was for the pool area. All in all, I would never eat here again. As a local, it's disappointing because the ambience is nice. But the food is overpriced and not even close to being good. And as for the service? My God. This was officially the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Ever. When the manager of the hotel asked how our stay was, I casually mentioned that the restaurant was lacking in a lot of ways. But I didn't expand on the experience. However, I was surprised to see that the manager had taken off the meals from the charges to my room when I checked out. And I sincerely appreciate that. I never asked for it, but was appreciative as it was unexpected. Bottom line. The hotel is a nice stay, and I plan on staying again. But you couldn't pay me to eat at that restaurant.
