Wife and daughter stopped by here before and decided to stop on the way through Myrtle Beach. The food was very tasty and mostly authentic, best for an American locale. We had the Munich platter and the Veal- Jaeger schnitzel with red cabbage and spetzle. The dishes were good sized and although my potatoes were not the pomfret variety it was good enough. I'm not sure if the price point was on target but for a niche restaurant it was good enough. They don't offer any military discount and although the place was not filled they stuck us in the back and had to constantly get our waitress's attention for water due to being out of site. I was not impressed with the food and was hoping for more items such as brochen and more traditional pomes and potatoes salad. We intend to try to other area German places to see if we could find one with better customer services. Definitely not worth the price. read more

So I've noticed I tend to Yelp more when I have a bad experience and I look like a dick on yelp. I'm not ;) I need to YELP more great encounters! This place was AWESOME. I haven't had German food in AGES! Great environment. Fun music. All the servers wearing authentic costumes. We had the German for one - schnitzel, brat and knock with spaetzel, red cabbage and potatoes with brown gravy. We also had the pork knuckle with same sides. Had a flight a beer too. Was a little skeptical getting German meal in a beach town, but sure am happy we dropped by. One good indication was the full parking lot at 430 in the afternoon. We came back at 6 PM. Server asked if we had a reservation, but they were able to quickly seat us. We had the sausage sampler, which probably would have been enough. For dinner had the Veal Weiner Schnitzel with spaetzle w/ gravy and sauerkraut. We had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Good food and service! read more

Wow the services was great sounds like they fixed that issue mentioned in other reviews The Wiener schnitzel was really good a little smaller than where are used to from Prague or Vienna we also had a pork shank which was the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten in my life I actually think it might've been off of a dead squirrel or dead rabbit from the street tasted a little gamy and it was tough shouldn't be tough it should be flavorful and succulent red cabbage is typical American red cabbage lots of sugar the Spoetzl was private most originally German thing made their definitely was good the Beers were fantastic but hard to mess up a beer The atmosphere was like a bad Saturday night live skit that they tried to figure out what a German restaurant look like it was a bit of a disaster from unlocking feel but again like I said our server was so accommodating and very willing to help us out in anyway we could Change the atmosphere around get some fresh German food on the menu maybe fire the chef and you're good to go read more

Loved Cafe Old Vienna!! As I have visited Myrtle Beach for work multiple times I tried to eat dinner here, but always found the parking lot so full it turned me away. This week night though I stopped by early (6pm) and found a parking spot, but when I entered there was a crowd of people waiting near the door & bar. I then said no thanks to the host and I would try again later, but she convinced me to come in and had an open pub table on the other side of the crowd. Thank you! This place was so busy, with almost every table and bar seat full of people and the service staff moving all over the place. Interior is perfect German like atmosphere, and the menu is more than enough. There is a decent happy hour menu too, but I went right for the best. I enjoyed the Jager schnitzel and a good German dark beer. The schnitzel was 2 pieces covered with the rich delicious gravy, and 2 sides of spatzel and red cabbage. All I can say is it was fantastic! If you love German food, than this is the place. The service was spot on, the food is authentic and delicious. Cafe Old Vienna is an excellent restaurant! No wonder they are packed every night. Great atmosphere, great drinks, amazing food! But, service leaves something to be desired. No way we should be there for 2 hours, half of that waiting on dessert and the bill. As another review rightly mentioned check the label of the 4 types of mustards, one is not for those GF among us. But this meal was so good it's not worth even a minor rating knock. Not awful, but not outstanding either. Worth the price compared to a lot of local food or 'all you can eat seafood' buffets on every corner, but the sauerbraten did NOT taste like it had marinated for days (it actually tasted like it was cooked in a crock pot that day, and the choice of meat was incredibly fatty). Maybe they need a new supplier for their meat or it was a bad day? My husband had the jagerschnitzel. He said it was good. The spatzle was fine. The red cabbage was fresh. An extra star because of COVID, maybe it is usually better, but often we have to make due. My husband was disappointed in the beer selection. There were more American beers on the menu than German and not much of a selection. Again, maybe this was because of COVID? We did not have reservations and sat at the bar, the bartender did her best to keep up with all the drinks AND meals of 4 different groups, in addition to making drinks for the entire, fully packed restaurant (no social distancing going on at ALL here). The only drawback is that you have to have a reservation otherwise there is no way you get in and the place is way to small for how much more they could do. It might be by design ... I am not sure. We had an Asian waitress that didn't look us in the eyes, was degrading in her mannerisms, rushed us, walked away before we finished talking, etc. We were still eating our dinner when she asked if we would be ordering desert. This is my favorite spot in Myrtle Beach. My family goes back every year! The purple cabbage is the best I have ever had and I could go on and on about their other dishes as well. The best part is the atmosphere. Truly like a southern German restaurant with all the nostalgia and heart! I highly recommend attending when they have live music for an even better time! Great beer choices served in the company glasses if that is something you like. The BEST part are the desserts and you should go just for that! Pure luxury and reminiscing of beer gardens gone by. Ordered the special german feast for two: spaetzle, white and red cabbage, home fries, weisswurst, schnitzel and bratwurst. Very filling and delicious! The ambiance had live accordion music and lines out the door. Dined just in time for Oktoberfest! Dessert of apple strudel and coffees finished the night.
