A great departure from typical beach restaurants. If you like Austrian/German food, you should love this place. Decor and staff costumes will seem kitschy to some, but fun for me. Solid schnitzels and such at good prices. I'm a fan of the side dishes like red cabbage and spaetzel. The appetizer pretzel is excellent. I know....it's just a pretzel. But it's a damn fine one ! We will come here at least once, every time we come to Myrtle. When we need a break from crab legs. Great streudel for dessert, too. Osso bucco special was nice. read more

Really enjoyed their traditional Wiener Schnitzel, red cabbage, and their German potato salad. All homemade and yummy! We also ordered the pot roast and dumplings. The pot roast was great, but I was craving traditional "Kartoffelklösse" and theirs was more of a Bohemian version made with a flour base. I'd get it with mashed potatoes instead next time. We ordered Black Forest Cherry cake and Apfelstrudel to go. Those desserts were okay, but nothing to shout about. We have a small dog so we opted to dine on their patio. Not authentic as some others have claimed. Not only do they not have currywurst, they don't even know what it is. And they don't pronounce it correctly. I'm not going to say where the servers were from because I don't want to get them in trouble, but it was not Germany or Austria. Love the food and the servers are extremely welcoming and helped out in choosing the best food and drinks for us. But after we ate, we didn't see our server for over 30 min after our food is served, she must've been really busy to go outside maybe which I understand. Hire 2 more servers on your busy night please!! Also, how about showing some love to the people who eat outside? It's so cold so Those tower heaters would've been nice. I couldn't wait anymore because of the cold so I had to go in the car while husband takes the check. I know it's busy but please help the servers out, they're in their dresses. They need warmth during these cold weathers, so please let them wearing leggings and a sweater at least. I'm a tourist and I only wish they didn't show love to just the people who made reservations. My mind was blown yesterday, my first time eating here. I took a good friend out for her birthday, her choice. This quaint restaurant is in the heart of Myrtle beach. From the outside, you would never guess the quality and deliciousness of this authentic German/Austrian food. I got the vegetable plate (she got the chicken schnitzel) mine was a huge helping of German style perfectly cooked vegetables and a fried egg on top, perfectly cooked. It went perfect with the German beer I ordered. I was completely full and still, could not stop eating everything was that good. I had to order their home made fresh apricot crepes after lunch, steaming hot with freezing cold fresh vanilla ice cream on the inside . Are you hungry yet? For two people, ordering everything we wanted, the total bill was $50.00. Not bad for some of the best food I have ever had since I have been to Myrtle Beach. As far as the food is concerned, I would say it is first rate (We frequent local restaurants about three times a week). My in-laws really enjoy this place and come here often when they visit Myrtle Beach. Knowing how picky my father-in-law is, I figured it had to be pretty good. Everything was delicious, from the crisp fresh salad, to the Veal Jaeger Weiner Snitzel. I even ate all of the steamed red cabbage! The potato dumplings and spatzel were great and the apple streusle was one of the best desserts I've ever had. And our server, Irina, was outstanding. This restaurant was recommended in a gluten free group and I was excited to have some GF German food with my family. My family avoids gluten entirely, but I am the one who has an autoimmune disease which makes me ill when I consume gluten. We let the server know that we are all gluten free, ordered from the gluten free menu and they brought us our meals along with ketchup and two types of mustard. My husband tried both of the mustards and let me know they were too spicy for me so my son and I only used ketchup as our condiment with our meal. At the end of the meal my husband noticed his tongue was starting to have a reaction and he was confused to why. He picked up the mustards to read the ingredients wondering if it's something in the mustard and found out that one of the mustards (the one he was eating most of) contains wheat. I'm so thankful and relieved that I didn't have any or I would be violently ill on our vacation. This was our first night at myrtle beach so it couldn't been a disaster. I've been glutened before at one restaurant years ago and never want to experience that again. My husband reacts to gluten mildly so again, we are thankful that he caught the restaurant's mistake. He did bring this up to the lady upfront when paying and she brushed it off and didn't acknowledge their mistake. So please be careful if you're gluten free for medical reasons and you when you dine here. Also, the sausage sampler platter was delicious but the pork schnitzel was very bland and unappetizing. Eating this reminded me of my time in Germany when I was there for 2 years! The mushroom sauce was creamy and perfect amount of flavor and didn't overpower the breading. The potato pancakes were a little steep at first but after eating them well worth the 3 dollar up charge. Also Paulaner on tap is the best thing you can get! Step inside Austria and have some fine German/Austrian cuisine! We come here every time we visit myrtle beach. The atmosphere is very authentic. Has an old world feel. The staff is dressed appropriately In their authentic lederhosen and are very knowledgeable and attentive. As you walk in you are tempted by the dessert display that makes your mouth water even before you sit down. They offer a good variety of German/Austrian beers and wines to pair with your meal. I tried the Austrian wine flight tonight. It was a good mix of red and white from semi sweet to semi dry. Delish! They always bring out fresh bread before your meal. Try not to fill up on it even though it's hard because it's so good. Now onto the food. The portions are ridiculous! I haven't tried anything here that I didn't like. Tonight we had the German feast for 2. I highly recommend this because it's a good sampling of everything and there's more than enough food. We ate a ton and still have dinner for 2 tomorrow. The schnitzels are lightly breaded and tender and the gravy is so good! Not too salty which is hard to do. The spatzle is homemade and perfect! The red cabbage is the best I have ever had and the sauerkraut is wonderful with the caraway seeds and black peppercorns. The potatoes were crispy and well seasoned. It also comes with salads with a sweet honey house dressing and bacon. Dessert was so hard to choose but you won't go wrong with the strudel. The food was okay. I had the grilled chicken with garlic butter sauce and it was super dry i couldn't even finish it. I also had the potato dumplings which didn't have much flavor but they were decent. The schantzle was gross but i guess it's an acquired taste. For dessert i had the Nutella crepe and it was pretty good. I felt super sick after this food and it was just not a fun night in the bathroom but i was the only one out of 9 people to get this reaction. My grandma was a super duper happy camper with her food and the whole experience (hence why i gave 3 stars). The restaurant itself was clean and nice. The staff was very nice. read more

This was our first time to try the Cafe Old Vienna. Do make a reservation. The restaurant was filling up quickly, and we had a 6:30 PM reservation. With a German-Austrian focus, the restaurant is like stepping into a classic European restaurant. The new location is warm with wood panels and classic German décor. They had an accordion player for the evening - nice music but a little on the loud side. We loved seeing the servers dressed in Dirndl and Lederhosen. The menu offered many classic choices. Our server, Mykle, was a delight - very attentive and friendly. We ordered 2 original Veal-Wiener Schnitzels with red cabbage and spaetzle and 2 Viennese Gulasch with a medley of vegetables and spaetzle. All of our dishes were generous in size and delicious. We visited Cafe Old Vienna 2 times during our recent trip to Myrtle Beach and enjoyed authentic German/Austrian cuisine. The Viennese Gulash is fantastic as is the Sauerbrauten. The desserts look amazing but I passed due to my diet. This is my go to place at least one night while visiting Myrtle Beach.
