Love a great local place that serves great food from across the state line. The ambiance is light and busy, but the bar and outside patio looks fresh and inviting. Stopped in to grab a bite after my Grandson's football games with the family. There was a bit of confusion to get seated, due to them wanting all the party there before they could be seated. I could see this if we had reservations for a specific party size, but not for a group walking in. I have a mobility issue, which means I move very slowly. I didn't see the need for our whole party to wait until I got in the building. I want to think this was a training issue. We were finally seated. Everything after this was great. We ordered appetizers which were delicious! I had to share more than I wanted to. Our server was great! I was a bit disappointed to know all the seafood was fried together, as I'm allergic to shrimp. I would have liked to try the catfish. ‍ I totally enjoyed my French fries though. My party enjoyed their dishes. Especially, the macaroni and cheese with crawfish. You know I'm from Louisiana and it's tough sometimes to find a restaurant here in Houston that has the Louisiana taste. Came across this hidden Gem this place met just about all my expectations as far as taste in food. I chose the shrimp and grits, and the sauce was so rich and tasteful. They gave you plenty to eat for the cost. My boyfriend did Louisiana shrimp Poboy and seafood was very fresh. This is a cozy little spot, with great music and good vibes. Ok here goes. This place is located in a tiny shopping center with a horrible designed parking lot. The inside is nice and clean but kinda small so it gets cramped when they are busy. Luckily I found a spot at the bar. They have a large selection on their menu. Everything sounded delicious. A little pricey but what's not these days. We started with drinks (a lemon drop and a frozen margarita) while we waited (briefly) for a table to be ready. Under the advisement of the owner's niece, we selected the smothered boudin. Delicious. My husband chose the fried pork chop and substituted dirty rice for the cheesy grits. He asked for the shrimp and crawfish tails cream sauce on the side. Once he tried a bite of my Mardi Gras potato, he poured the sauce over this pork chop and indulged. I initially thought I'd have to get a to-go box, but everything was too good. I couldn't stop eating, so my plate was clean before I realized it. Seriously, there isn't anything to not love at Rian's. Get there...as fast as you can! Know this...they close early on the weekends (9 pm) and they stop seating patrons at 8:30, so plan accordingly. You can order to go, which we saw alot of during our dine in experience. If you cook and you're picky.. this isn't the place for you. Here's why: 1. I ordered the fish and shrimp basket. The fries were seriously over cooked to the point of borderline burn. The catfish was cut in half.. and when you pulled it apart, the fish wasn't the flaky white juicy catfish that I'm accustomed to. I'm going to suggest that this owner changes up the distributor that they are using to purchase their fish from. The shrimp were fried so hard that I crunched through the first one and left the rest. 2. The beignets came out pretty warm, but not enough powered sugar.. they were also cooked pretty crisp and because of that, something else needed to soften that blow of putting those warm and hard beignets in your mouth. They had a slight drizzle of honey which was a nice touch.. but still not enough to rule out the dryness of the dessert. 3. My partner ordered one of their smothered dishes with fish and had crawfish and shrimp added to the sauce. Out of the entire serving of "gravy" there were 2 shrimp and possibly 4 crawfish tails. This bowl of "gravy" is pretty big but mostly sauce. If you're looking for a decent helping of seafood, you're not going to find it. The fish on that plate also came out fried extremely hard, so hard that the "meat" of the fish disappeared. The creamed corn wasn't hitting either, I'm accustomed to creamed corn having a savory but thicker soup consistency. This version came out loaded with kernels of corn and the cream was at the bottom. This meal cost us a little over $60.... It's not worth it in my opinion. I could have purchased 2 pieces of catfish, a handful of shrimp and crawfish, cut up some potatoes and made fries, a little dirty rice and creamed some corn for approx. $20. We dine out to sit and be served. It's a delight to go out and taste new things, find new restaurants. We won't be going back. read more

And omg first the étouffée taste like chili, idk how you get chili flavors into what's supposed to be étouffée but that's what it was. So... The food and drinks are amazing! When we arrived we got on the waitlist. We were told about 20 minutes. When in actuality it was almost 40 minutes or more. Lord bless the hostess she was responsible for people walking in, handling call in orders, taking money for call ins, seating, busting table, taking orders to tables, and about 10 other job. Once we were seated and orders were placed it did not take long to get food. I gave 4 stars for the front of the house being so unorganized and having the poor hostess do fifty eleven jobs. I came hear on a Sunday. It's a good spot, not too crowded. Inside and outside area open. Tnn eyes have a bar and they had kamil bonner performing this day. I had the loaded fries with chicken and seafood and it was hands down the best loaded fries I've had in a long time. It was 16$. The Gumbo was really good. However, they gave us a single portion rice. so, not nearly enough rice for the amount of Gumbo. On the F&S baskets the fries were the best thing. the fish was not fresh and was very chewy and the shrimp was just ok... if you have ever had the fish from Frenchys then that's similar to how it was. For the money, I had better expectations. I could have gotten the fish from Frencys as it is better and not as expensive. Needless to say, we will not be ordering F&S again.
