I have eaten here a few times and it is generally a disaster. I ate there yesterday and received a double barrel of horrible service and bad food. I ordered the wedding soup. Not only was it room temperature, but it was ONLY broth and greens. No meatball, no pasta, nothing but broth and greens.......of course it took an act of god to get the waitress to return. She looked perplexed, and returned a minute later to say 'it has the other stuff but i just didnt mix it up before i poured your cup. do you want me to get you a new one?' Um, no. So my daughters ordered ravioli and meatball, and I had to cut the meatballs for them. Well, the centers were ice cold (and the exterior wasnt so hot either). All this combined with a waitress who never had her act together and was no where to be found. .....so I realize that I am eating in a shopping mall. The bar is set pretty low. But delivering the actual food you ordered at an appropriate temperature shouldn't be a problem. It was a problem, and the lethargic server didnt help. read more

I went here with a couple co-workers one day. My friend picked it because it supposedly had the highest rating of any local restaurant on Trip Advisor.com. I found it to be fine, but nothing special. It's sort of a kitchy place with a family owned feel. But i don't really care about those sorts of things. "Was the food good?" That's what I care about. I got the fettucini alfredo, and my friends got the salmon and chicken parm, respectively. All three of us thought the food at Champps next door was better. My fettucini was a huge portion, but it tasted just like any ole fettucini alfredo in a jar you buy at the market. It wasn't bad, but I didn't understand why the great rating. read more

Cafe Rivera is a nice little Italian restaurant. They feature a full restaurant behind their take out/sit-down area, which is a nice arrangement. Their pizza is quite thin and greasy; I am personally a fan, however, I have heard some of my friends complain. Their servers are always kind and attentive! One huge plus to the cafe is that they have a large menu selection. They have every type of pasta in the book, and it is always cooked well. My one critique is that they lack some extraneous Italian dishes, it seems to me that they only serve traditional dishes, such as spaghetti and meatballs. Overall, I definitely do recommend a visit. Their pricing is very reasonable, and they send out coupons in the mail constantly. I hope they expand their menu to feature some more "out there" dishes in the future, otherwise, great! read more

I ordered delivery through DoorDash and left a 1 star review there as well for the food. I ordered the spinach & cheese ravioli, garlic bread sticks with sauce, bruschetta, broccoli rabe sautéed in garlic and EVOO, and a chicken parm sub with onion rings. It all was bland, watery, and terrible. The tomato cream sauce for the ravioli was watery and tasteless. I only got 4 raviolis and the chicken was over cooked and dry. The sandwich was not traditional because instead of actual chicken Parmigiana it was chicken fingers with barely any marinara and cheese. Overall, the food was terrible. read more

They used to be great... unsure if it is a new owner manager or what but they changed their pizza recipe about a month ago and the new one is awful! The new "pepperoni" tastes like stale old salami. The pizza is greasy, sauce is terrible and dough is unappealing. Twice we were told by employees they were going back to their previous pizza but obviously that isn't happening. We have ordered from here about twice a month for our "treat meal" since we moved here a year ago and always been happy. Last night it took an hour and a half the food was cold and soggy and when we called they seemed annoyed and said they would send new fries!!! What about the rest of the food?!?! Surprisingly good food given it's location (inside of a mall). Take out is available in the front; the dining room is nuzzled in the back. We were taken to our table and greeted promptly by our server. She seemed to be the only person on the floor that evening and did an amazing job keeping everyone's drinks full, taking orders and delivering them. I ordered my usual -- chicken parm. OMG nom nom nom nom. It was good. I finished the whole thing. It was served with a side of pasta. The kids in our party got pizza (of course) and loved it. Someone else got wings and pizza and loved it. Pricing for seven people was around $80 (including the ice teas and sodas we got), so ... not too shabby. read more

This used to be my all-time favorite Italian in the Delaware valley, and their food was authentic Italian. This past year however, their service has dropped considerably and they have raised their prices. Yesterday was my last trip there. Cashier stayed at register so customers had to yell their order. She didn't know what gnocchi was, had to spell it three times, and then she asked, "What is it?" so she could find it on the screen. Tried for an "easier" order but she had trouble with all things Italian. We finally left to grab a server because no one else was in sight who could help. Plain red gravy was peppered, so hot we couldn't eat it. New buttered noodles nothing more than cooked pasta served al dente with a touch of butter - a child cooking at home could have done better. Even their pizza for which they are known was chewy, no gravy, cold and greasy. Cafe Riviera was the only reason we venture to Concord Mall anymore, and now will never go back. read more

AMAZING pizza, sadly they removed their small pizza due to something with the dough? But nonetheless getting the regular/large is worth it. The pepperoni forms the fabtasic pepperoni bowls once its served, its always hot, and tastes great. Really sad to see Cafe Rivera leave the concord mall but I really enjoyed it while it was around. First time writing a review. Several weeks ago I ordered a Stromboli from their sister store ( metro deli ) thinking it would be similar to their café store, wrong what I got was basically a pizza folded in half. So I decided to order from café since I had ordered strombolis from them in the past and they were decent enough. Well the Stromboli that I ordered from café was worse than from metro. Again it was basically a pizza folded in half, the maker apparently just got a handful of meat and cheese and placed on the middle of the dough folded and cooked. I took several bites and threw the rest in the garbage. Unfortunately I will never patronize either of these places again. Do yourself a favor and google Stromboli to see what one should look like. read more

Friday night manager was rude and could not come to the counter to speak to me. She mistook me for an app delivery driver bc I use an app. They have a sign that says the drivers need to park out back. Nothing against the drivers at all but I corrected her that I'm a customer that uses an app to order - it's not the first time she's done this to me. What made me angry and now not wanting to return is that she relayed her 'message' through the nice woman working the counter and could not speak to me directly. I nicely asked the young woman why as a customer do I have to drive around back and the manager proceeded to speak louder to the young woman to 'tell him it's the cafe's policy on Friday nights to pickup out back.' There are no signs stating the out back policy except one that specifically asks delivery drivers to do so. I informed the young woman I would not be returning and we order there every Friday since August 2020. We really do like their pizza and fries but I am so put off by how this manager preferred to interact with a customer that I won't be going back again. read more

My two kids and I had a slice of pizza my daughter went back up for a bottle of water and they charged her $2.25 for a $0.10 bottle of water. I want all of the haters to come out of the woodwork, and tell me better, BUT, and I will say this after hundreds of slices under my belt, THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA IN WILMINGTON. Please, message me and tell me a place that is better, because I have not found it. The Riv, does it right. New York style house made crust, fresh toppings, tomato pie, excellent staff, the shit. The only other places I've been to in Northern Delaware that can touch this place on a good day are Ciao in Trolley Square, or Margarita's in Newark. I have so much love for Riviera, because its my go to joint, and if I am not wolfing down a Chick-Fil-A sandwich while I am in Concord Mall, you know I am inhaling a few slabs of pie from the Riv. Maybe both? It's been done before. I love that this place has stood the stand of time. If you look back through the annals of history of the Concord Mall, many places have come and gone. Woolworths, adios. Jamesway (bet you didn't think I remembered that one), gone. Friendly's, moved on out. But the Riv, has stayed. And that is because it is delicious. This is a family run restaurant, and they are always running specials. I know they run movie nights for kids, and there is always some sort of Sunday brunch. I've had salads and sandwiches here and they are extremely tasty, but I always come back to the pizza, or the tomato pie (sometimes the one with big slices of moz on it). Crust on the pizza is almost always right on, and I especially love a reheated extra crispy slice. Sounds kind of wrong, but is totally right. When I roll on up to the counter, and I see that they have put out the sauteed red onions with peppers that have been drowned in olive oil, and parmesan to use as free toppings, suddenly my day becomes so much brighter. I have enjoyed going here for several years but will not return. I was triple charged for my food and when I called the manager or owner to rectify it he was too busy talking to listen to me explain to him what my bank statement showed to get the correct amount credited to my account. Now the bank tells me that part of it may drop off tomorrow (I have to wait and see) and I have to take my receipt into the bank to dispute the other part. When I spoke to him 6 days after the incident, he still over talked me and could not tell me amount he was crediting my account or what day he did it. The pizza at this busy mall location pizzeria is okay if you're on the go and craving a slice; but the serious pizza connoisseur may want to keep searching. The service is friendly and prompt and when you realize the dining room is huge and runs deep from the front of the shop, you know it's a popular place with mall shoppers. The pizza itself however leaves much to be desired. I had two cheese slices for a late lunch; the pizza was just out of the over and there was no crowd keeping the staff preoccupied, so I doubt the quality, or lack thereof was a result of the kitchen being slammed. Pizza was hard to pull apart. I HATE to use the "it tasted like cardboard" cliche here but in this case, it applies. The pizza really had the consistency of greasy cardboard. Each slice had little pools of oil which I typically ignore, but even sopping it up with napkins and sprinkling a quarter inch of parmesan on top didn't seem to help. If you're in the mall and REALLY needed a slice of pizza, stop in but don't expect too much. If you really, REALLY want great pizza, I suggest you keep going and would point you in the direction of the pizza joint in Trolley Square, (see previous reviews). read more

From taking our initial order and walking us through the menu to the day of delivery, they were top notch. The food was fabulous, too! Haven't dined in the seating area in years, but myself and a friend took a whack at it. We ordered a pizza but were still treated to a bread basket with two kinds of bread and a side of marinara. They were both delicious. The pizza was supposed to be half pepperoni/ half cheese, but we got all pepperoni. Honest mistake, and I really enjoyed the pizza as well. I know what you're going to say - and yes, it's in a mall. But this place makes some darn fine pasta! I can't say I've sampled the majority of the menu - it's huge. Of what I've tried, though, there are two dishes I will order again and again: the pasta alla vodka with italian sausage (I went with spaghetti), and the pasta alla broccoli, which is a garlicky, buttery, delicious sauce full of slivers of garlic - and of course broccoli (I usually get the cappellini with that). The pasta meals come with soup/salad and a delicious bread basket - try the pizzettes! And you can't beat the Monday night half-priced pasta deal! I'll let others comment on the pizza - for me, this is a delicious, comfortable, laid-back place where I know I can get delicious pasta quickly. read more

Café Riviera was one of my go-to Italian spots in Wilmington until tonight. They do have good pizza, if you like Trenton-style pie. But their customer service is awful. Tonight the staff there ignored me for more than 15 minutes, and there were only 6 other customers in the place. They were too busy talking to each other to deal with me. The food at Café Riviera is OK, but nothing to write home about. I mean, it's OK for a mall. But if you're looking for real Italian in North Wilmington, I'd say go try Mazzella's. This is usually my favorite pizza spot ... was very disappointed with the take order I picked up .. I ordered the everyday large pizza wings and cheese fries special for 20.00.. what a waste !!! The Italian dishes vary, but are mostly pretty good. Service at the counter is pretty fast and efficient. While service in the sit-down area is usually good, it can be mixed. read more

My husband and I have gone to Cafe Riviera for many years. Their Italian pasta dishes are always enjoyable. Their pizza is very good as well. The back room is cozy and inviting and the staff are always helpful and attentive. Some of the other food items I don't think are the best but I don't go to an Italian place for burgers. A side note, I came here a few times for lunch after having my daughter. We breast fed. They always sat us in the back room when we asked and we were given respect and privacy if I was breast feeding. There was no shame, no staring. I am so thankful for this. read more

I had dinner here midweek. My Italian wedding soup was definitely too salty, and my tolerance for salt is pretty high. The bread was greasy and the dipping sauce was, again, too salty. My family and I went there last night and it will be the last time we ever go there. We were put up in the upper room and were an after thought to the waitress and kitchen. No refills on sodas and water and an hour and 10 minutes for pasta!! Our 5 dinners came out in "shifts" the first three came out and another one 5 minutes later and the final platter about 4 minutes after that. First time there, was served partially cooked chicken franchaise that was pink and raw in the middle. Told waitress, said she would take it off the bill. Bill came, the entree was removed, but they tried to bill me separately for the salad when it was included in the entree. What a hidden gem... We not only love the pizza, salads , clams and spaghetti here. I wish I had known of the crabs and spaghetti deliverd to our home before what could be the last night. I was so surprised to get my dozen crabs ( there was more then 12) and almost 2 lbs of spags companied with an amazing salad with all the toppings including gardinara, chick peas, cucumbers and dressing. Then they added different flat bread and bread sticks..... I was expecting a small meal for one basically paying for the crabs. The crabs are not huge maybe med female but I will tell you they were so meaty and so sweet, the rest of the meal was amazing too. Not only is everyone so pleasant there when we go to lunch there.... That is how I found out about the crabs dinner..... There was so much food feeding our family of four for under $30 again delivered quickly to our door. I wish they had this special all summer long. I have posted on my fb about this and many people didn't know this special existed. I hope there is an email or something I can get on and spread the word of these amazing specials. Worst experience ever! Won't be back. After waiting 20 mins for a waitress to even come to the table (they were busy), she took order. I asked for veal parm. I got chix parm delivered to the table. I had already waited 30 mins for the meal, and I wasn't going to wait another 30 for a replacement (but the waitress never came back to even check how the meal was). Tomato sauce was loaded with red pepper flakes, which was not on the menu. When I mentioned to the waitress that I got chix parm instead of the veal, she said she would talk to the manager. Instead of an apology from the manager, I was told that the manager approved a $3 price reduction (which is the difference between the veal and chicken parm). uh, that's no break or even apology. So because of this and lousy service, I stiffed the waitress with a lousy tip, and told her to get an extra $3 bucks from the manager. Wife's pasta cream sauce was also loaded with red pepper. It was busy...I get it....and if the slow service was the only issue, I would kinda understand. But no excuses for f'ing up my meal, and then just chalking it off as if who cares.
