That's early for a brunch crowd. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy. I'm a southerner and was skeptical it would be as good as back home, but it was really amazing! Very flavorful and rich, lots of sausage chunks. My husband ordered parfait pancakes and enjoyed them very much too. Coffee was good too -- a bonus! We drove an hour to get here. I would drive two hours or more to go back. By far the best breakfast I have had in years. Our waitress was just the sweetest thing! Sooo cute! I came here for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday party. Since she is a fellow foodie, I knew it would be good, but I wasn't prepared for just how good it would be. Everything is fresh and homemade and we were all so pleased with our entrees. We ordered the homemade donuts as a starter and they were little balls of heaven. They were light and flavorful, and though they were fried (aren't all the best donuts?), they were not at all greasy. The food was delicious. I felt as though I was eating clean, and healthy for breakfast. Very well priced. It was excellent, and they have unique menu items. The best damn crab cake I've ever eaten. Our table got the crab cake, rocket bowl, and eggs Benedict. We've heard about the Hollandaise sauce from other people and so we had to try it. Let me tell you those people were right, it was delicious. The staff was fantastic, and eating outside was really nice too. I will absolutely be back. Take the time to come here and try the food. This was my go-to brunch spot in college and let's just say now that I live in Boston I still miss it like crazy. This is as close to a city brunch as you are going to get in Ewing and it is perfect. I have so many good memories of this place. Not to mention the food is delicious and if you have to wait they have coffee and water outside! Try the cannoli French toast, eggs Florentine, cacio e Pepe eggs and everything in between. I would like to update this review due to the new manager's efforts (Scott) and hearing out my unpleasant experience here at the restaurant. I went back here today for the usual item I get (verde omelette) and I will say it was the best I had ever had here or many other places to speak. (Also had a side of sweet potato fries in lieu of the home fries which they were also very delicious. This place has had some nice touches of updates and the other waiting staff was extremely friendly. Management has changed and it is definitely for the better. It is clearly noticeable that this business is geared to customer satisfaction and an overall great experience. I have no issues giving this place a 5 star at this point and recommendations for anyone else to dine as well. read more

It's my fave from this lovely little place down the street. 72 isn't flashy, and you might drive right past it, but it's definitely worth stopping by! They have a bocci court in the front patio and fresh ricotta doughnuts (more of a zeppoli IMO) - need I say more !!??!! The interior is all about the professional grade food and diner bar with booths and tables - great vibe. My husband and I went last Sunday for a late brunch and were starving so we started out with the pork roll fries and lemon ricotta donuts with blueberry compote. They were amazing!! Both came out of the kitchen hot and fresh, the donuts were more like balls, a crunchy exterior and light cake filling, and were perfectly matched with the compote. I don't usually like pork roll but the fries they made were delicious, salty and crunchy. For our main course we both ordered short rib specials. I had the Benedict and my husband had the tostada. They were very different dishes and both were fantastic. The Benedict was served on a piece of Texas toast which was able the support the heaviness of the short ribs and eggs, yet still taste crunchy. I loved the whole combination and it was really nice comfort food for a winter day. The tostada was also very good but a little lighter with a smaller amount of short rib and a nice salsa on top. Not only was the food good but the staff was nice and friendly (we sat at the counter). Even though it's almost a half hour drive we are hoping to go back once or twice a month! Really cute place that always has a line because there are no other cute cafes in Ewing. We visited for lunch and I had a potato soup and a crispy chicken Caesar salad. The soup was fantastic! However, the salad was almost all white (iceburg) lettuce, which is typical, but this salad had virtually NO green. The chicken was burnt on one side, rubbery, and so dried out from being overlooked. Completely inedible. Overall, it's a cool place for the area but the long wait may or may not be worth it depending on what you order. read more

They also had a special menu which was unique and looked quite tasty. We had some non-alcoholic drinks and soups off of that. Try the hot cocoa!! The waitress was knowledgable about gluten free options and gf bread was listed on the menu (though gf options were not). Think of this as a much nicer and tastier diner. Cafe 72 is normally my favorite place for breakfast and I always recommend it to my friends. I decided to order take out on my day off, I drove 25 minutes picked up my tiramisu pancakes only to find they didn't even put the mascarpone on them or even on the side. Super disappointed. They also didn't include the sauce I ordered on the side and paid an extra $2.25 for. Last time I drove there they turned away my business because they were closing early. Nowhere on their website or social media did they indicate they were closing early. That's 2 strikes. 3 strikes your out :( read more

This is the go-to brunch spot for my boyfriend and I. The food is consistently good, and the specials are really interesting and tasty. The matcha latte (seasonal) is delicious, the pancakes are always on point, and they have a host of vegetarian options. They have a vegan brunch option, too. My go-to brunch item is some variation of eggs benedict, and their eggs Florentine from the basic menu does not disappoint. We came relatively early, because we knew there would be a longish wait, and there was. We were a group of four and we had to wait 45 minutes tr o be seated. They have a nice little outdoor area where you can play horseshoe while you wait to be seated. It's a very cute area, and it kept people entertained while they waited. Once we got inside, I was quickly enamored with how cute and rustic the decor and atmosphere were. They had string lights hung around the room, and really added to the ambiance. I loved it! There is so much to choose from their menu. I was really overwhelmed. I chose to get the Pumpkin Brulee Iced Coffee, which was absolutely delcious. It was the perfect balance, and much needed on a long Sunday morning. For my breakfast I decided to go woth the Cajun Shrimp Benedict with a side of fruit instead of hone fries. I've never heard of a shrimp benedict before and wanted to try something different. It was delicious! My only complaint was that there wasn't much shrimp. I had a total of four pieces of shrimp. That left a lot to be desired. I wasn't full when I left and I feel like for the price you should be able to get a little more. Overall it was a good experience. I don't like how they rush joy a bit at the end, because of how busy it gets.
