We hired Cafe Soleil to cater our Brazilian Room wedding and they were nothing short of excellent and accommodating. Cecy (event manager) and Jennifer (owner) were super patient with us as we had initially been in talks with them back in 2020 to plan for a 2021 wedding which was postponed to 2022. They kept our guests well-fed throughout the entire day, serving appetizers, wine and beer, non-alcoholic refreshments, coffee and tea, and a delicious and filling plated dinner. They provided staffing, furniture setup, layout planning, dishware, flatware, glassware, and facilitated linen rentals (handling pickup and drop off). They also handled the COVID documentation checks required by the venue and made us feel like we were left in capable hands. I highly recommend them for your wedding or next event! read more

There's definitely a homey vibe to this El Sobrante restaurant with the married owners personalizing their operation with quite a large menu of hearty selections. I wasn't surprised to find out later that they have a significant event-friendly catering business because the food definitely has that banquet-style approach about it. Not that it's a bad thing because I found it to be a good place for an entree salad after a longish hike in Wildcat Canyon nearby. The place is in a busy strip mall with an incredibly haphazard parking lot you need to navigate carefully. It's spacious in here and appears quite popular with the suburban crowd it draws. I've been twice now, the first time alone and the second time with Jamie W. I ordered the same thing both times. Hey, if it ain't broke... I had the $14.95 Roasted Salmon Salad since they placed a hefty salmon fillet - roasted, moist, and lightly flaky - on top of a bed of spring greens accompanied by tomato, olives, mushrooms, red onion, and toasted croutons with three servings of lemon vinaigrette on the side (photo: http://bit.ly/2NsmKd1). The salmon was so savory I didn't need the dressing. When I come back a month later. Decided to have brunch here while passing thru. They have a descent size parking lot that's shared with other businesses so that was a plus. Walking in it seemed pretty busy and there was no greeter at the front counter so I wasn't quite sure what the protocol was for seating. A few minutes later a young asked how many were dining and then told me that we could sit at any table. Once seated we had to ask for menus which were not at the table which wasn't a huge issue being as though I seen it on Yelp. But we were quickly attended to thereafter with taking our order for beverages and food. The veggie omelette, hash browns, sourdough toast and a blueberry pancake were delicious( of course I didn't finish it all)! Haven't been here in over a decade and decided to stop by today. Great atmosphere, plenty of seating, and food was pretty good. They have a big breakfast and lunch menu with plenty of classic choices. I ordered the chicken fried steak with home fries. I honestly expected potatoes that were sitting on the grill for a decent amount of time like other restaurants have given me but they were soft and seasoned decent. The gravy had great seasoning and the chicken fried steak was fried well. Servers were constantly looping the restaurant, making sure my coffee cup was refilled. Staff were friendly and welcoming. One thing I did notice was that they kept grabbing a bite to eat, which I assumed was their lunch, while they were servicing customers. They did wash their hands but I really wish restaurant managers allowed their employees to sit down and enjoy their California law obligated meal periods that are uninterrupted!!! Overall it was a pleasant experience. Inflation is still up and kicking. My meal alone was 20$ so don't expect McDonald's pricing. It was well worth it though and I will definitely try to stop by more often! read more

This place was such a great find! We were hungry for lunch on a Sunday. I wanted some salad and found that they have good selections along with other things that hubby would enjoy. I ended not getting a salad though lol...I got the Oscar's sandwich and opted for soup as my side. The soup that day was either tomato cream or beef+veggie soup. I opted for the beef+veggie soup and was pleasantly surprised how generous the serving size was. My meal for a sandwich and a bowl of soup was around 10 bucks! Hubby got the chilli cheese burger with fries. The portion was humongous, the fries came in a separate large plate, wow! This place is certainly a local favorite as it was crowded and busy! Mostly families dined there and they have lots of options from breakfast/brunch food to lunch food! I was eye-ing what others got, all had the same thing in common, huge portion! They also serve dinner and the prices looked really reasonable, though their dinner hours are short (they close at 8pm). OK I have had food from here numerous times before as they provide breakfast catering for the monthly contractors forum at Chevron. Basic fare nothing exciting . Today was the first time I actually dined in their restaurant. I had Sam's scramble and my wife chicken fried steak. Both were good but my wife's steak had the look of something cooked earlier and covered in gravy at the last minute. It was kind of wilty. I am on a low carb diet and the one thing I absolutely loved!! was the wide variety of vegetable sides like spinach , onions and mushrooms available for breakfast. No waitress snerling their nose when you ask for a side other than potatoes or toast. Service was very good and so was the food. I will be back for lunch sometime soon. read more

A friendly place. I'll only come for breakfast and lunch so I can't rate dinner expectations. There burgers are good and big. Fries nothing to write home about breakfast. Hash browns boring so I recommend the home fries here. They give good portions which why the sf prices. It standard breakfast fare. But its solid good food with great staff. It can get pretty busy and when it does that it gets really loud inside. But the have a couple tables outside in front if the weather is good it can be a nice escape from the noise. The breakfast here is pretty good and you'll be able to find something that you like. The portions sizes are big and some plates are big enough to share. My husband usually gets the French toast and I change to switch between egg scrambles or their two egg breakfast with bacon. I didn't give this place all 5 stars because I don't think they season or salt the food at all. They do have a lot of customers who are elders so maybe that's why. However there's always salt and pepper on the table. They only have Benedict on the weekend so don't come during the week if that's what you are looking for. The service is always really good. Hashbrown is ok, cuz I like mine more on the crispy somewhat dry side. Their hashbrown was crispy on the outside but too moist inside. Eggs were good. Eggs are eggs I guess. Oatmeal was an oatmeal. It's served with milk on the side which was good since I'm lactose intolerant. It also comes with granulated light brown sugar and raisins. Oh, on the portion and size; less $ but bigger portion than Starbucks oatmeal. Good portion for those who doesn't want anything else, this will surely fill you up. Bowl of fruits were fresh but some were on the tart side like the pineapples and strawberries. Good bowl of fruits, good variety: blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, grape (green and regular), pineapple, banana. Bacon is eh because it's too thin to my liking. French toast were big and not so eggy. I hate those French roasts that has an after taste of egg. Unlimited coffee refill and yummy hot chocolate. SERVICE: love the staff here. Happy, polite, and patient. From the hostess, to the waiter, to etc. SPACE: big space. You can pick whichever table you'd like to sit...only when it's not packed. Grew up nearby and never even knew about this place until my sister hopped on Yelp and found it recently. We tried it out for breakfast early one morning and enjoyed what the cafe had to offer. I got myself a club sandwich with avocado and bacon while my sister ordered a chicken sandwich with the same (avocado & bacon). Both were affordable and came in huge portions! The food was filling yet clean, and didn't leave the overwhelming sense of greasiness we felt after eating at most big breakfast places. Jennifer + Todd have catered private parties for me on and off site and the appetizers are scrumptious and presentations so gorgeous! This spot certainly doesn't look like much from the outside or from the food photos, but looks can be totally deceiving. Service and food were pretty much topnotch for our brunch experience here. We were greeted right away and all the staff that spoke to us made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We sat outside and had a really tough time picking something to order because of their extensive breakfast and lunch menu. I opted for their Sam's Scramble (I think that was the name) that came with chicken apple sausage and it was delicious. Really glad I went with the hash browns too! They were very unique with very thick, long strips of potatoes. My husband really enjoyed his burger. Portions are generous. Today's evaluation was not about the food. It's about the customer service we initially received. We have eaten here as a group in the past. In the past, the waitress has separated our checks because she understood the fact many of us are paying with our company cards. Company cards come with restrictions and we must oblige by those restrictions in order to use them. Plus we came to this place knowing this place had no issues separating our checks. So maybe rules changed however it was today's waitress approach that turned me off initially. Actually the whole group was turned off. Long story short, we asked for separate checks. The waitress told us she won't separate checks. She did offer to ring up whatever we wanted per payee. Now it was how she told us that really turned us off. Maybe she is not good at delivering the message but for me personally, I was about to tell her to cancel my order. We all were shocked how she told us. Like I said I wasn't the only one who noticed her delivery was off and not welcomed. In the end she turned out to be decent and the food was fine but her initial delivery sucked! The bathrooms are really clean as well. Food was really delicious with a lot of flavor and the portions were very generous! I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage , bacon, and a biscuit with gravy instead of toast and I must say I loved it the flavor was spot on and I actually enjoyed breakfast hear better than IHOP or Denny's and their coffee was very flavorful and not as expensive as other restaurants. Came in super juiced about the Vegan Menu. Had my appetite set on the Vegan Hotlink Breakfast. My mouth was watering at 9:24am. However they were out of 90% of the Vegan items.
