This is my second and final review for Cafe Strudel. My wife and I visited this restaurant before (before the pandemic) and did not have a good experience. In fact, we didn't eat there because we never had a server stop by our table. The owner replied to the review saying that he hoped we would give them a second chance. Fast forward to today. My wife and I have been trying different restaurants for Sunday brunch. We decided to try Cafe Strudel and arrived at 10:30 to a packed parking lot. We checked in with the hostess and were told there would be about a 40 minute wait. Since we were meeting friends, we decided to wait. After 30 minutes, we checked in and were told that we were 7th in line for a table. It seemed tables were turning over quickly. After another 20 minutes we checked again and were told were were 3rd in line. After roughly an hour wait, our party of 4 was seated. The hostess gave us menus and told us someone would be with us shortly. We sat and waited and no one came to our table. People who were seated after us were greeted, received drinks and even had their orders yet we still were not greeted. I told a hostess that no one had been by our table yet and they said they would send someone right away. After another few minutes, a server came to us to say a manager would be over because they knew we had been waiting a long time. We waited more time and no one came over. At this point, we made the decision to leave. In all, we waited an hour and a half. We will not be giving Cafe Strudel a third chance. read more

My husband and I tried Cafe Strudel for the first time yesterday. He really enjoyed his breakfast sandwich and I tried the lowcountry fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese on hash browns. Parking is not the best here, seating is ok, inside is very charming but it is difficult to hear the people you come in with because of the seating being pretty close together. It has zero barriers for sound to be blocked off on is likely the issue. It's still not too much of an issue for me. The people are very sweet. I think the waitresses may need some education on the difference between ginger beer and actual beer though because it is not an alcoholic beverage and each time my husband orders it he gets carded haha. (Nbd just humorous) While I'm not a fan of ginger in general he raves about it. But those duck fat fries!!! That garlic aioli!! I mean hello. The food is frickn amazing. Love it. If I were the chef I would consider bottling that aioli and selling it hun because I'd be buying it in a skinny minute. We have tried ordering delivery during the pandemic and like most delivery it doesn't really make the journey very well. Went in for a quick breakfast and cup of coffee with a girlfriend. Nothing really stuck out and wowed me. They offer a "coffee bar" but the choices are lacking. It's basically 3 or 4 large canisters of coffee with some sugar packets and small plain creamer. When you think coffee bar you think of flavors and choices! No flavored creamer or seasonal add ins. I ordered a basic breakfast and it was ok. Pancake, an egg, gritsand sausage patties. Food was cooked well, but again no "WOW" factor. (Was not a fan of the grits) Since it's close to the municipal buildings I can see this being an ok spot to grab a quick cup of coffee and a to go breakfast. It was decorated nicely and comfortable atmosphere. I will continue my search for the ultimate coffee / breakfast spot. read more

Parking is a nightmare and We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table even though we got there not too long after they opened so go early!!! It was definitely worth the wait, I tried their breakfast bowl with a side of hash browns and a cold brew coffee. The coffee is self serve so not very covid friendly and the manager and food runners were not wearing masks/not wearing them properly. I loved the food I got but the little things make an experience! Great atmosphere!!!! I like the idea of the coffee bar with the different cups to choose from. As well as being able to get the coffee yourself. I ended up get the apple strudel coffee which I found unique in its hint of apple flavor that blended well with the coffee The peach mango mimosa was on point. My fiancé, my daughter, and myself dropped in here this morning. We frequent the other Cafe in West Columbia often and know everyone by name. This location was not disappointing. We had just left from taking my daughter to an appointment for allergies. Jaime (our waitress) was nice enough to bring us some local honey for my child that had local allergies. Such a sweet doll. Our food was equal to what we would get at the West Cola CS, and the decor was more modern. Overall a good experience, but I am a fan of the motherland location because I like to be a part of where it all started. Aaaaaaannnnndddd.... It's close to my house. Big thumbs up to the staff. Had a breakfast meeting here, and it was fantastic!! We both had the breakfast sandwich. One bacon on sourdough and the other ham on an English muffin! Food was excellent with a variety of choices! This place is good. Went with hubs for breakfast on a weekday morning with all the rich stay at home moms and retired couples. Had the cinnamon pancakes and eggs with bacon. I loved the pancakes and they got my eggs eggsactly right! Not runny!!! Nice warm syrup. Could have used more butter but you sound like a pig when you ask for more butter. Coffee was really good despite being in a self serve carafe but really what's wrong with that? It was hot and good. Place is clean and cute. Bathrooms are nice. Parking entrance kinda sucks and I really wish they'd fix that. Prices not low perse but not outrageous. I really want to try some other things on this breakfast menu. I was so excited when a Cafe Strudel was built in Lexington. I love the West Columbia location. My favorite is the hangover hash browns!! My kids love the desserts. I also really like the coffee bar. The Lexington location is nice, it was cold in there when we went in and kinda busy. The food was delicious and the service was good. The duck fat fries are to die for!!!!! read more

We spent nine dollars on a bagel 03 dollars for the egg on it they microwaved it rather than toasted it. I had to get them to make another pot of coffee because all their coffee was cold. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Bennett, the manager, insisted I was an incorrect, foolish person who had no clue what occurs behind the scenes. Instead of an order taking 30 minutes I received my food 2 hours lager. To top that off he took no responsibility of his staff who threw the original food sway. He then blamed it all on the fact the food was old and they were not going to serve it. Joke is on them because the food was still cold and the biscuits were burned. I would not recommend this food for a dog fresh out of the pound. The manager is a disgrace and hopefully the owner releases this rude person from Their duties as manager. They also run specials that are posted on the wall (buy one, get one 1/2 off) but don't give you the special unless you explicitly ask for it. Makes for a somewhat awkward experience. Came down from new Jersey to visit a friend and stumbled apron this gem. Honestly, was looking for a beer at 930 am and Yelp sent me here. 1st visit was Monday and havnt missed a day since. What got me hooked was how nice everyone is and made me feel at home. A customer I met 1st, John, has been here 36 straight. Trip, the owner is always walking around making sure everything runs as it should and is very personable also. Renee and sabrina were both a+ employees and go out of there way to make sure your happy and are taken care of the way you should be. Oh, beers are cold and competitively priced and in my opinion the food is way underpriced for the quality. Eddy is not your average fry cook in the kitchen. He is a very qualified chef. Everyone should get here soon before they relize how underpriced they are and raise there prices. read more

My husband, son, and I went to the Lexington location this past Sunday morning for brunch. Of course there was a wait, but it was only about 30 minutes so we decided to stay. The biggest problem with the wait was all the seating available inside and out. There was three tables inside open and majority of tables outside were available. Yet, there were people waiting up to 40 minutes at the time. Since they do not have much seating for people waiting we decided to go sit at one of the tables available outside. There were two tables with people sitting and eating so I asked one of the tables if they asked if they could eat outside. She said yes, ask the waiter I'm sure they will let you sit outside. So when the waiter came by I asked him if it was ok for us to eat at the outside table we were sitting at. Stuttering like I said something wrong, he said I will have to go ask the manager. Let me just go ahead and say I'm 8 and 1/2 months pregnant with a toddler and it's hot outside, but with fans it felt actually nice on the deck. Anyways so a few minutes later, the manager with the waiter appeared at our table we were waiting at and basically accusing us of trying to jump ahead in line. Apparently it doesn't matter where you want to sit you have to wait regardless even if all the tables outside are empty and available. I told him we were not trying to jump ahead on the wait list that we wanted to eat and get out of the way for the next customer. He said they couldn't let us sit there until our name came up on the list. I told him that was stupid. He goes I'm sorry. But the thing is, he definitely was not a confident person to stand his ground as a manger and personally we thought that was not smart thinking of upper management. The manager's voice was all shaky when he was talking to us. You would think that they would want to get as many people as they could in and out in a timely manner but apparently they don't want to make money or have good reviews and recommendations from their costumers. After he basically accused us of trying to jump ahead on the wait list he finally admitted they didn't have enough staff to seat all the tables. Why didn't the manager or even the waiter say that to begin with. Seriously I would have probably been more understanding, but after all that I was just mad and wanted to leave. So since we waited we decided to stay and when they finally text us (45 minutes not 30 minutes later) saying they were ready to seat us. I walked up to the hostess and told her we wanted to be seated at the outside table where we waited for a table. She acted like is more of a burden to sit us outside. She finally grabbed the menus and took me back to the table where my husband and son were seating. Waitress took our order quickly. We ordered the simple two egg breakfast with biscuits. I ordered my bacon crispy. When they brought our food out it was cold, all of it, and my bacon was far from crispy. We went ahead and ate since we waited, but was far from being satisfied with the food. We have been to the state street location several times and had way better service. Lexington location needs to figure things out or they won't survive. We were not the only ones wondering why we were waiting when many tables were available. After a long wait, people expect their food to warm and cooked the way they ordered. Good luck in the future. We will not be eating in this location in the future. It tasted very good and was a big portion. My gf had the French toast and loved it. We also shared a small order of biscuits and gravy but couldn't finish it. First time at this location in Lexington, it worked out perfectly to call ahead and get put on the list for Sunday morning.

Well, my last review of this place was 4 years ago...before covid and staff/food shortages. Their prices are insane now and the food isn't that great anymore. They now have a "coffee bar" for breakfast time. You have to get up and fix your coffee, fill your mug yourself and then go sit back down. The mugs are sitting there in the open, yes they're inverted but I don't want a bunch of people all over my mug. Plus, I have to touch the coffee pot handles that everyone else has touched as well. That's gross. The creamer and sugar is up there too with plastic stirrers. Also, why would I want to keep getting up to refill my coffee if I'm dining with friends or family? I want to enjoy the time with them, not refilling my coffee and touching all of the things and then going back to eat. I got French toast. It was disappointing. I won't go back to the Lexington location, but I will try the West cola location again because they have been consistent and delicious. read more

Had the french toast meal while my Love had the biscuits and gravy with hash-browns. Eggs were cooked to perfection and food was on point . We ate brunch here for the first time. It was a very nice breakfast. The parking lot was Dangerous so be careful of the giant holes!

I was just driving by and decided to give them a try. Yes, the parking lot leaves a lot to be desired but I was told that they are working on it. Once I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by a nice hostess. Inside, is a nice intimate setting. I decided to sit at the bar to avoid the wait and I was alone. The bartender, was very nice and attentive. I ordered the Stuffed Burger. It's was prepared nicely and delicious. I have no complaints. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. read more
