    Biscuits & Gravy
    Stephanie M.

Visited this location on Sunday around 1. It wasn't as busy as it can be but we were told 15-30 mins wait for outside. My boyfriend mentioned to the waiter that we don't mind sitting at the bar but they would need to clean the two empty bar spots. As we sat in their waiting area by the bar, we saw two open tables outside. After finally being seated 5 mins later, after my bf had to tell them there were two empty tables outside, it took our server another 10 mins before even coming to our table. Took our drink order but left before we could place our food order saying she'd give us some time to figure out what we wanted, without her waiting for us to tell her that we already knew what we were gonna get because we waited 10 mins. The bartender had to come out & tell us we were out of the White Tai beer for the manmosa. After finally placing our food order, after I had to call the waitress over because she passed us a couple of times without stopping, she comes back 5 mins later to tell us that she forgot that they were out of brisket... how are you gonna be out of brisket when you have several dishes with brisket? Anywayssss, the lowcountry hashbrowns was the only thing that was good. Not impressed with the Hangover Hash browns nor the side of biscuit & gravy. The hangover hashbrowns had no flavor whatsoever. The biscuit & gravy was cold by the time we got it & the sausage wasn't even incorporated with the gravy? It seemed like it was just added the on the side after they added the gravy. We had to go get our own condiments because we didn't feel like waiting 10 mins for someone to come out. Waited another 15 mins after we finished eating to get our check. Overall, we were not impressed with the service nor food at this location & will not be back.

Breakfast burger, steak & eggs, and side of toast

My partner and I got the pomegranate mimosa ($6+), the bacon bloody mary ($6+), the breakfast burger ($17.50), steak n' eggs (~$25), and a side of sourdough toast ($?). The pomegranate mimosa was sickeningly sweet yet tart at the same time. I can't say I was a fan of it. My partner's bacon mimosa was supposed to have two olives and a bacon wrapped cucumber as the garnish, which he did not receive and was very disappointed about. We were pleased to see that our food came out really quickly. The breakfast burger was about as I expected; it would have been much better with lettuce, tomato, and onion on it. It was just too greasy, so some veggies would have helped cut that grease. The hash that came with the burger was simultaneously crunchy and soggy. It was fine, but did not help with the greasy feeling of the meal. The burger itself was fine, but again, just was too much. My partner was pretty disappointed with the NY strip and eggs. He got his eggs sunny-side-up and his steak medium rare. The eggs were fine, but the steak was small, overcooked, and unseasoned. He didn't finish his hash either since he didn't like the texture or greasiness (same as mine). He said that the biscuit was average. Another problem we had was that the 'sourdough' bread was most likely not sourdough. It didn't even taste remotely close to it. It looked (and tasted) like thick-cut white bread. It was fine, but not what we ordered. My partner said that he would not want to come back--he was not impressed. I like Café Strudel, but I prefer the Columbia location and would not get that breakfast burger again. ---------------------- Over all: My ratings: **Pomegranate mimosa: 5/10 **Breakfast burger: 6.5/10 **Hashbrowns: 4/10 **'Sourdough' toast: 7/10 Partner's ratings: **Bacon bloody mary: 6/10 **NY strip & eggs: 5/10 **Biscuit (with butter): 6/10 **Hashbrowns: 6.5/10 **'Sourdough' toast: 5.5/10 Total rating: 5.7/10 (or 2.9/5 rounded to 3/5) Total paid: ~$65+ (minus gratuity)

    Gambas grits

Amazing breakfast. I loved the ambiance, felt familiar although it was our first time. I loved the self serve coffee bar and helped myself to some Jamaican me crazy blend. There were so many options to chose from but I settled for the Gambas grits and they did not disappoint. We will be back for sure!

I currently live in Augusta and happily drive an hour to get one of the best breakfast that I found in SC. I've been to this place several times, And each time the food has been amazing. We got lucky this time and we were able to get a table right away. It is so popular that there is usually a 20 minute wait. I ordered my usual Hangover hashbrowns and noticed that this dish won an award. I highly recommend this dish. I also ordered the shrimp and grits which was topped with bell peppers, onions and bacon and finished off with a delicious bloody mary sauce. My girlfriend had a Hawaiian french toast, a side of bacon and a cup of grits. She said the french toast was one of the best she had at a restaurant and the grits were cooked to perfection. We will definitely be making more trips to this restaurant. Kayla was an awesome server that recommended dessert and gave her opinion on recommended dishes. Thank you again Kayla for making my girlfriend's first visit very memorable.

Great location, close to home, not on the main strip, so a little harder to find. They restored a old house, which I love every bit of it, the floors are original, nice bar and out side seating area. I asked they wait staff the history of the house and of course they didn't know. Personally I would give my employees some tips of anyone should ask. Café was clean and the staff trained well on professionalism. Enjoy Happy Hr! The food was Ok, maybe it was my choice that day, I will try again. The fish had no flavor, seafood macaroni was saturated with to much butter, the wings were seasoned well. I will give them another try for sure, supporting local businesses is a must! Loved the setting and décor. Lots of easy free parking, check out the other location in Columbia.

The waitress was really nice and attentive. The food was just okay. I got the hangover hashbrowns, and it had more onions than hashbrown. Also nothing special

    Cinnamon pancakes!

Started our day rolling up to the DMV. The line was around the building so we decided to head for breakfast. We ended up at the café strudel. The host told us to sit anywhere and a waitress came in short order. She took our drink order, and returned promptly. Unfortunately we weren't quite ready to put in our order. She came back a second time after about five minutes. Not being particularly hungry we settled on the cinnamon pancakes that we would split. That's three pancakes, scrambled eggs and two turkey sausages. Just a note about these pancakes. They're not the thick and fluffy type. More on the thin and chewy side. Don't get me wrong these are good pancakes. We had ordered pecans as an extra topping; they added a nice crunch, well worth the extra money. The turkey sausage was very tasty. So there you have it. There are lots of things on the menu that look interesting, such as breakfast burritos, and quesadillas, biscuits and gravy, a breakfast bowl, etc. we'll be back to try those and more.

We feel fortunate to have found this cute and quirky restaurant for a late Sunday brunch. It is located in a house and even had garage doors behind the bar. We are indoors in a large room that had a lot of charm. Seating is COVID19 appropriate. There is also plenty of outdoor seating. The walls of the restaurant are full of local art for sale. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits and breakfast burger. They were perfectly seasoned and really delicious. Coffee was stronger than what we are used to, but very good. Brittany was a great and attentive waitress.

    Sunrise burrito and pear mimosa

I think this location is better than the one on State street. I got the Sunrise Burrito and it was delicious, tasted fresh, and it was less expensive on my bill than it was on the menu which never happens! I've had the Pear Mimosa before and it's delicious but a little disappointing in presentation. I'd prefer a wine glass or something that feels a little more special. The place was busy on a Thursday late morning. I didn't look around too much but it's a comfortable space and a nice location. Oh, I hope they have plans to fix their parking lot though! That thing is tore up.

Our waitress Emily was so sweet, attentive and friendly. She made sure to break the menu down for me so I won't be surprised with any extra charges and I was very appreciative of that. Our server was very pleasant and friendly, seemed to enjoy her job, and immediately asked us what we wanted to drink. We both went for coffee, of course. Both my wife and I thought the coffee was too weak for our taste. I ordered eggs Benedict with home fries. Now to be honest, Eggs up Grill is a diner with a catchy name, but I would say they did a great job on my Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was well constructed, smooth and had a nice lemony tang. My fries were okay, but could have been a bit warmer. My wife ordered French toast with turkey sausage. She was non plussed. She remarked that while the first bite of her sausage patty was good, the second bite was watery. Her French toast was just so so. Eggs up Grill offers decent food, reasonable prices, and friendly staff, but the regular coffee needs an upgrade and as well as the French toast. I would definitely go again for the Eggs Benedict but I may have to go alone.

Now mind you there were a lot of empty tables with "reserved" on them at that point. Fast forward an hour later, because we didn't get a txt from them, we went in to see what the story was. They proceeded to tell us it would be another 30 minutes. Also the seats that had "reserved" on them were still empty! They said they would take care of us, and walked us over to the bar side, and told us we would have to stand at the counter to eat! I was fuming. The other three from my party walked out, while i proceeded to tell the manager this was extremely poor service! All he could say was they were busy. I pointed out the empty tables that were empty when we first walked in an hour ago and are still empty! They finally gave us one of those tables. When the British Bulldog calls itself a "pub", I feel like it's one of the very few places that takes that moniker to heart. Even though it's located in somewhat of a strip-mall setting, once you walk inside the building, you're amazed by the authenticity of the inside. Personally, I loved the brick and wood that made up the interior, which gave the restaurant the realistic "pub" vibe that I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, I loved the framed, and hanging, soccer flags, which was a marked contrast to the professional and college sports paraphernalia at your typical American sports bar. I walked in kind of late, and just sat at the bar, which still made for a great experience. Even though it's an English restaurant, they still had a lot of the popular local and domestic beers, to go along with the more English-themed beverages. I asked if they had any "sours", and the bartender was kind enough to offer me a sample of the two (2) sours that they had on tap, and let me choose the one I liked the most. The aforementioned bartender was great, and I overheard him offering some folks from out-of-town with recommendations for nearby late-night spots and high-quality local joints. Finally, my simple order of chicken tenders and fries was pretty good, and I thoroughly enjoyed their steak-cut "chips," or French Fries. All-in-all, I waited too long to try out the British Bulldog, which was a great pub experience that definitely lived up to my high expectations. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and in turn, would recommend it to anybody else!
